Frequency upshifting of electromagnetic radiation impinging on a relativistically moving ionization front is theoretically investigated. Unlike previous works in this field treating the case of normal incidence and qualitatively similar case of oblique incidence of a transverse electric polarized wave, oblique incidence of a transverse magnetic polarized wave on the front is considered. The peculiarities of the case under consideration are connected with the generation of Langmuir waves behind the front and Brewster's phenomenon. We present a complete analysis of the incident wave transformation including analysis of the frequencies and amplitudes of the waves excited ahead of and behind the front. Special emphasis is made on energy transformation in the case when a wave packet is incident on the front. In particular, we show that even for negligible angles of incidence, energy losses via transformation into Langmuir waves may be very high (up to ~60%). In general, generation of Langmuir waves may play a significant role in the plasma-based radiation sources with relativistic ionization fronts  相似文献

二阶分形频率选择表面具有良好的双频特性, 是实现准光学选频网络小型化的理想选择. 但是由于其自相似迭代结构的复杂性, 导致其长期受到寄生谐振的影响, 为了提高二阶分形结构在工程应用中的可靠性, 本文建立了二阶方环分形周期单元的等效电路并分析了寄生谐振产生时的场分布情况, 研究了寄生谐振的形成机理; 进而通过单元间去耦合操作, 并引入基于离散粒子群算法的多参数优化过程, 克服了这一问题. 仿真和实验结果表明: 在保证双频工作特性、对于入射角和极化稳定的前提下, 通过去耦合和粒子群算法实现的频率选择表面实测对寄生谐振的抑制可达13dB, 且避免了新的寄生谐振的产生. 关于寄生谐振抑制的研究, 为增强二阶分形阵列结构的可靠性提供了新的思路. 关键词: 二阶分形 频率选择表面 寄生谐振 离散粒子群算法  相似文献

Dispersion relations for electrostatic surface waves in a homogeneous plasma-layer which interacts with an external electric pumping field parallel to the boundaries are derived in the framework of the kinetic theory. The parametrically excited and purely growing instabilities are investigated. Electric threshold fields and growth rates for the instable surface modes are given. It can be shown that the minimum threshold for parametric excitation occurs for those modes which are symmetric about the midplane of the layer.  相似文献

The shear-horizontal(SH) waves excited by the shear source in a borehole are easy to analyze due to the simple waveform. The borehole-side structures make the formation properties discontinuous. We consider a cylindrical double layer structure and study the borehole shear-horizontal and transverse-electric(SH-TE) seismoelectric waves. We first derive the expressions of the basic field quantities, and simulate the acoustic field and electric field using the real axis integral method. Compared with the wave fields of an infinitely homogeneous porous medium outside the borehole, the cylindrical layered structure makes the multi-mode cylindrical Love waves and their accompanying electric fields excited.Next, in order to study the interface response law of the inducing electric fields, we use the secant integral method to calculate the interface converted electromagnetic waves and analyze the causes of each component. It is found that an interface response occurs each time the SH wave impinges the interface in the layered porous medium. The results show that the SH-TE mode has a potential application for borehole-side interface detection in geophysical logs.  相似文献

The behavior of surface polaritons that can propagate along a flat interface between a polarized Dirac vacuum and a normal metal is studied. Dispersion relations for the surface wave are derived for different field polarizations, and the frequency domains where this wave may exist are found. It is shown that a constant electric field polarizing a Dirac vacuum can be determined from experiments on surface wave excitation.  相似文献

We present a detailed theoretical analysis about the influence of surface polaritons on the transmission properties of electromagnetic waves at the periodically corrugated interface between the vacuum and left-handed material by using nonlinear boundary condition approach. The principle behind this approach is to match the wave fields across the grating interface by using a set of linear wave equation with nonlinear boundary conditions. The resonant transmission of the incident electromagnetic radiation in this structure is feasible within a certain frequency band, where there is a range of frequency over which both the electric permittivity and the magnetic permeability are simultaneously negative. The enhanced transmission is attributed to the coupling of the incident electromagnetic wave with the excited surface polaritons on grating interface. Finally, we present the numerical results illustrating the effect of the structural parameters and angle of incidence on the transmission spectra of a TM polarized electromagnetic wave.  相似文献

This paper presents a lightweight microwave absorber suitable for space applications. The absorber is based on a resistive high-impedance surface (RHIS) optimized to achieve reflection under ?15 dB in the band (2–2.3 GHz) at oblique incidence for transverse electric (TE) and transverse magnetic (TM) polarizations. A first classical isotropic RHIS structure is shown to be limited to angles of incidence up to 40° for TE polarized waves and up to 35° for TM polarized waves. So the objective of this contribution is to present a second solution based on an anisotropic RHIS structure which presents good absorption of incident waves in TE and TM polarizations for larger angles of incidence. The interaction of magnetic polarized electromagnetic wave with a resistive half-plane in magneto-ionic plasma is investigated. The method of transition boundary is used for the evaluation of the diffracted wave. The excitation of surface waves is examined in the medium and their diffracted fields are derived by using the diffraction theory for grazing incidence. The uniform field expressions are obtained with the aid of the uniform theory for evanescent waves. The behaviours of the derived scattered waves are studied numerically.  相似文献

A theory of interdigital transducer is presented that accounts for the surface acoustic wave diffraction. It is formulated with help of the Blotekjaer, Ingebrigtsen, and Skeie expansion method used earlier in the plane-wave theory. Now, the electric field is applied to the breaks in the strips making parts of them polarized with different potentials. This way the finite aperture width transducers are modeled residing within an infinite system of periodic strips. Closed expressions are derived for system working below the Bragg condition. The theory is open for further development accounting for elastic strips, pseudo surface, leaky or even surface skimming bulk waves, for any frequency range, including Bragg reflection exploited in surface wave resonators.  相似文献

One-dimensional quasiperiodic structures whose period is much smaller than the wavelength of exciting radiation have been obtained on a titanium surface under the multipulse action of linearly polarized femtosecond laser radiation with various surface energy densities. As the radiation energy density increases, the one-dimensional surface nanorelief oriented perpendicularly to the radiation polarization evolves from quasiperiodic ablation nanogrooves to regular lattices with subwave periods (100–400 nm). In contrast to the preceding works for various metals, the period of lattices for titanium decreases with increasing energy density. The formation of the indicated surface nanostructures is explained by the interference of the electric fields of incident laser radiation and a surface electromagnetic wave excited by this radiation, because the length of the surface electromagnetic wave for titanium with significant interband absorption decreases with an increase in the electron excitation of the material.  相似文献

Conducting interfaces and nano conducting layers can support surface electromagnetic waves. Uniform charge layers of non-zero thickness and their asymptotic behavior toward conducting interfaces of infinitely small thicknesses, where the thin charge layer is modeled via a surface conductivity σ s , are already studied. Here, the possible effects of inhomogeneity in the conductivity profile of the thin conducting layers are investigated for the first time and a new approximate yet accurate enough analytical formulation for mode extraction in such structures is given. In order to rigorously analyze the structure and justify the proposed approximate formulation, the Galerkin’s method with Legendre polynomial basis functions is applied, i.e. the transverse electric field for the TE polarized surface waves and the transverse magnetic field for the TM polarized surface waves are each expanded in terms of Legendre polynomials and then each eigenmode; subjected to appropriate boundary conditions, is sought in the complete space spanned by Legendre basis functions. The proposed approximate solution is then proved to be accurate. In particular, sinusoidal fluctuations are introduced into formerly uniform conductivity profiles and it is numerically demonstrated that surface electromagnetic waves supported by nano conducting layers are not much sensitive to the very shape of conductivity profiles.  相似文献

It is shown that both TE and TM waves incident on the surface of a semi-infinite one-dimensional thin-layer gyrotropic magnetic photonic crystal of the magnetic-nonmagnetic dielectric type can experience a number of refraction anomalies in an external electric field due to the effect of hybridization of evanescent waves in magnetic and nonmagnetic layers. These anomalies are absent under the same conditions in spatially homogeneous media consisting of the same materials as the photonic crystal.  相似文献

We study the effect of striction plasma density disturbances on the generation intensity of longitudional cold and plasma oscillations due to polarization of the magnetic field-aligned ionospheric plasma irregularities with δNo<0 by a powerful radio wave. It is assumed that the plasma density level inside the irregularity intersects the upper-hybrid resonance level, in the vicinity of which the cold oscillations excited directly by a powerful radio wave are transformed to shorter-wave plasma oscillations. We consider the short plasma wave limit to reduce the problem to a system of two coupled equations for the cold wave induction and plasma wave electric field. The first equation is supplemented by a local source equal to the integral of the plasma wave electric field in the resonance region. The second equation involves the cold wave induction at the resonance point and describes the electric field of interacting waves in the resonance vicinity. We use simplifications connected with the small absorption of plasma waves propagating inside the irregularity and weak radiation of these waves outside the irregularity. These conditions correspond to the generation of eigenmodes of plasma oscillations trapped in the irregularity. We have obtained a resonance-type nonlinear equation for the electric field intensity (or energy flux) of eigenmode plasma waves with allowance for striction disturbances of the plasma density profile in the resonance region. It is shown that the striction expulsion of plasma is responsible for the occurrence of coefficients describing the change in the intensity of excitation and radiation of plasma waves at the irregularity boundary. Such an expulsion leads to variations of the efficient generation band of plasma eigenmodes with the total phase increment of the wave in the irregularity. It also leads to a change in the phase shift of the plasma wave reflected from the resonance. These coefficients and the nonlinear phase shift are expressed in terms of real wave functions of the nonlinear Airy equation which describes the electric field of the excited waves in the resonance vicinity when the dissipation is absent. The excitation and propagation of traveling phonon-polariton waves on the surface of silicon carbide (SiC) excited by light at a frequency close to the lattice resonance have been investigated. These waves are excited in the presence of the boundary of a metal mask deposited on the crystal surface. The use of the Green’s function has been shown to provide good qualitative agreement with the observed distribution of the amplitude and phase of the field on the surface under these experimental conditions. It has been shown that only consideration of the mask boundary as an extended source of traveling surface waves, which removes the inhibition of the generation of waves in the noncoincidence of the wave vector, cannot quantitatively describe the phenomenon. The spatial resolution of the used scanning near-field optical microscope is no worse than 150 nm at a wavelength of 10 μm.  相似文献

The dispersion and excitation mechanisms and the energy distribution of guided waves in a stratified half-space are studied. All possible guided waves excited by a symmetric point source in two or three-layer medium models and their relation to the medium parameters are analyzed in detail. The excitation and propagation characteristics, as well as the energy distribution along the depth direction, of all modes of the surface waves and trapped waves are numerically investigated and analyzed thoroughly not only in the case when the shear wave velocity increases from up to down layers but also when a low-velocity layer is contained in halfspace, especially when the shear wave velocity decreases from up to down layers. It is found that there exist many guided wave modes in the case where the shear wave velocity of each layer increases from up to down layers. However, there is less than one guided wave mode in the case where the shear wave velocity of each layer decreases from up to down layers. The trapped waves exist and propagate along the low-velocity structure in the stratified half-space. It is also found that the characteristic of a mode is related to the source frequency. It is possible that a surface wave at one value of frequency is like a trapped wave at another value of frequency. Finally, the relation of the characteristics of all guided waves (surface waves and trapped waves) to the parameters of media is studied.  相似文献

The stability of the electromagnetic plasma confinement by powerful external s-polarized pump waves is considered. The parametric excitation of standing electromagnetic waves along the plasma boundary with frequencies close to the frequency of the pump wave leads to a periodic density modulation of the plasma boundary. The density disturbances along the direction of the external wave field are connected to the excitation of transverse p-polarized surface waves while the modulation in the direction perpendicular to the pump field are created by the parametric interaction between the external wave and s-polarized trapped leaking oscillations. Only when the leaking waves are excited the scale length of the modulation is larger than half the free space wave length of the incident radiation.  相似文献

红外吸收器在红外隐身、辐射制冷、红外探测、传感器等方面有重要的应用前景.一维光栅型吸收器由于其结构简单、易于加工的优势备受关注,然而其不足之处是频带很窄,且只对一种极化有效.本文提出了一种基于简单一维周期结构的双波段宽带吸收器,对横磁波和横电波都有效,且吸波频段随入射波的极化方式而改变.该结构的基本单元由八个梯度排列的子单元构成,每个子单元由两层金属-介质双层膜垂直层叠组成.全波仿真结果表明,在1.68—2μm波段,该结构对横磁波吸收超过90%,而对横电波吸收很小(小于6%);在3.8-3.9μm波段,该结构对横电波吸收超过90%,而对横磁波吸收很小(小于5%).另外,该结构具有宽角度吸收特性,当入射角增大到60°时仍然能够保持较高的吸收率和较宽的吸收频带.  相似文献

Low-frequency noise (fci < f < fpi) excited by positively biased probes of various diameters near the magnets in a multidipole plasma device is investigated. It is concluded that the noise is due to the excitation of oblique ion-acoustic waves, i.e., the electrostatic ion-cyclotron waves in the low field limit propagating at large angles to the magnetic field.  相似文献

本文研究了外pump电场E_0在离子束-等离子体系统中所激发的静电低频参量不稳定性。导出了这种低频波的一般色散关系,并用数值方法分析了一维质子束-等离子体系统的参量不稳定性的激发过程。结果表明:离子束对等离子体中参量不稳定性的激发有极重要的影响。当没有离子束时,只能激发一种模式的波;一旦将离子束引入等离子体中,就可以在系统中激发两个波长较长的低频波。  相似文献
