Zigzag-type carbon nanotubes have been selectively produced by surface decomposition of a well-polished SiC single crystal. The SiC wafer was heated to 1500 °C at a very small heating rate under vacuum. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and electron diffraction patterns revealed that almost all the well-aligned carbon nanotubes formed perpendicular to the SiC (0 0 0 −1) surface were double-walled and of zigzag type. The results of high-resolution electron microscopy (HREM) indicate that the zigzag type structure evolves from the Si–C hexagonal networks in the SiC crystal by the collapse of carbon layers remaining after the process of decomposition.  相似文献

Single-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were synthesized from carbon monoxide and iron catalyst nanoparticles by two different aerosol methods. The catalyst particles were produced by physical vapor nucleation using a resistively heated iron wire (hot wire generator) and by thermal decomposition of ferrocene vapor. The essential role of etching agents (CO2 and H2O) in the CNT formation process was demonstrated. An addition of small amounts of CO2 and H2O vapor in the reactor resulted in an increase in CNT length. Also, the CO2 introduction was found to decrease the minimum temperature for CNT synthesis from 890 °C to below 600 °C.  相似文献

Activated carbon prepared from silk fibroin, which is free of metal elements, showed a high catalytic activity for the oxygen-reduction reaction (ORR). The activated carbon had a very high onset potential of Eonset = 0.83 V (vs. RHE) in oxygen-saturated 0.5 M H2SO4 at 60 °C. The ORR on the activated carbon proceeded by a four-electron process in the high-electrode-potential region; this gradually decreased to a 3.5-electron reaction below about 0.6 V (vs. RHE). Only about 1% of nitrogen atoms (mostly quaternary) remained in the activated carbon by heat-treatment at up to 1200 °C are responsible for the high catalytic activity. The open circuit voltage of a polymer electrolyte fuel cell using the activated carbon as the cathode and a platinum/carbon black anode under pure oxygen and hydrogen gases, respectively, both at one atmosphere, was 0.96 V at 27 °C.  相似文献

Apart from its composition, the starting powder properties such as particle size potentially affect the triple phase boundary and the electrochemical performance. Calcination process has been identified as one of the factors that influence the particle size of the composite anode powders. This study investigates the correlation between calcination temperature and properties (i.e., chemical, physical, and thermal) of NiO–samarium-doped ceria carbonate (SDCC) composite anodes. NiO–SDCC composite anode powder was prepared with NiO and SDCC through high-energy ball milling. The resultant composite powder was subjected to calcination at various temperatures ranging from 600 °C to 800 °C. Characterizations of the composite anode were performed through X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), dilatometry, and porosity measurements. The composite anodes exhibited good chemical compatibility during XRD after calcination and sintering. The FTIR result verified the existence of carbonates in all the composite anodes. The increment in calcination temperature from 600 °C to 800 °C resulted in the growth of nanoscale particles, as evidenced by the FESEM micrographs and crystallite size. Nonetheless, the porosity obtained remained within the acceptable range for a good anodic reaction (20% to 40%). The TGA results showed gradual mass loss in the range of 400 °C to 600 °C (within the low-temperature solid oxide fuel cell region). The composite anodes calcined at 600 °C and 700 °C revealed a good thermal expansion coefficient that matches that of the SDCC electrolyte.  相似文献

Carbon molecular sieves (CMS) have been prepared from locally available palm shell of Tenera type by a thermal treatment technique involving carbonization followed by steam activation and benzene deposition technique. Carbonization of the dried palm shells was done at 900 °C for duration of 1 h followed by steam activation at 830 °C for 30–420 min to achieve activated carbons with different degree of burn-offs. The highest micropore volume of activated carbon obtained at 53.2% burn-off was found suitable to be used as a precursor for CMS production. Subsequent benzene deposition onto activated samples at temperature range from 600 to 900 °C for various benzene concentrations have resulted in a series of CMS with different kinetic selectivities. The molecular sieving behaviour of the CMS products was assessed by kinetic adsorption isotherms of O2, N2, CO2 and CH4 at room temperature.  相似文献

Reticular tin nanoparticle-dispersed carbon (Sn/C) nanofibers were fabricated by stabilization of electrospun SnCl4/PAN composite fibers and subsequent carbonization at different temperatures. These Sn/C composite nanofibers used as anode materials for rechargeable lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) show that the Sn/C nanofibers at 700 and 850 °C present much higher charge (785.8 and 811 mA h g?1) and discharge (1211.7 and 993 mA h g?1) capacities than those at 550 and 1000 °C and the as-received CNFs at 850 °C, corresponding to coulombic efficiencies of 64.9% and 81.7%, respectively. The superior electrochemical properties of the intriguing Sn/C nanofibers indicate a promising application in high performance Li-ion batteries.  相似文献

In the context of fuel upgrading by selective ring opening of naphthenes, we have investigated the catalytic conversion of cyclopentane in large hydrogen excess over iridium and platinum single-crystal surfaces. Both (111) and (112) orientations have been considered. The catalytic tests have been performed at 1 kPa and 25–600 °C using a recently developed surface reactor equipped with laser heating and online gas chromatography. Only cyclopentene and C1–C4 cracking products are formed on iridium, while platinum additionally catalyzes the formation of pentane around 200 °C, which dehydrogenates to pentene at 250 °C. Noticeably, on both metals, the surface steps prevent hydrocarbon cracking (up to 400 °C) at the benefit of dehydrogenation. In all cases, a carbon overlayer is formed on the surfaces in the course of the reaction.  相似文献

Lithium cation insertion/deinsertion reaction kinetics in a LiFePO4 (LFP)/graphitic carbon composite material were electrochemically studied with a cavity microelectrode (CME). The LFP/graphitic carbon composite has a core LFP (crystalline/amorphous)/graphitic carbon shell structure. In the crystalline and amorphous LFP phase, different reaction mechanisms were observed and characterized. While the reaction mechanism in the crystalline LFP phase is controlled by Li+ diffusion, the amorphous LFP phase shows a fast, surface-controlled, pseudocapacitive charge-storage mechanism. This pseudocapacitive behavior is extrinsic in origin since it comes from the presence of Fe3 + defects in the structure. These features explain the ultrafast performance of the material which offers interesting opportunities as a positive electrode for assembling high power and high energy hybrid supercapacitors.  相似文献

The effect of calcination temperatures on dry reforming catalysts supported on high surface area alumina Ni/γ-Al2O3 (SA-6175) was studied experimentally. In this study, the prepared catalyst was tested in a micro tubular reactor using temperature ranges of 500, 600, 700 and 800 °C at atmospheric pressure, using a total flow rate of 33 ml/min consisting of 3 ml/min of N2, 15 ml/min of CO2 and 15 ml/min of CH4. The calcination was carried out in the range of 500–900 °C. The catalyst is activated inside the reactor at 500–800 °C using hydrogen gas. It was observed that calcination enhances catalyst activity which increases as calcination and reaction temperatures were increased. The highest conversion was obtained at 800 °C reaction temperature by using catalyst calcined at 900 °C and activation at 700 °C. The catalyst characterization conducted supported the observed experimental results.  相似文献

TiO2@Sn core–shell nanotube material prepared by thermal decomposition of SnCl4 on TiO2 nanotubes at 300 °C has been demonstrated superior Li-ion storage capability of 176 mA h/g even at high current rate of 4000 mA/g (charge and discharge of all TiO2 within 5 min) in spite of using low carbon content (5 wt%). This value corresponds to volumetric energy densities of 317 mA h/cm3, and its value was 3.5-fold larger than that of the bare TiO2 nanotubes.  相似文献

A novel network composite cathode was prepared by mixing LiFePO4 particles with multiwalled carbon nanotubes for high rate capability. LiFePO4 particles were connected by multiwalled carbon nanotubes to form a three-dimensional network wiring. The web structure can improve electron transport and electrochemical activity effectively. The initial discharge capacity was improved to be 155 mA h/g at C/10 rate (0.05 mA/cm2) and 146 mA h/g at 1C rate. The comparative investigation on MWCNTs and acetylene black as a conducting additive in LiFePO4 proved that MWCNTs addition was an effective way to increase rate capability and cycle efficiency.  相似文献

Conducting polymer composite films comprised of polypyrrole (PPy) and multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) [PPy–CNT] were synthesized by in situ polymerization of pyrrole on carbon nanotubes in 0.1 M HCl containing (NH4)S2O8 as oxidizing agent over a temperature range of 0–5 °C. Pt nanoparticles are deposited on PPy–CNT composite films by chemical reduction of H2PtCl6 using HCHO as reducing agent at pH = 11 [Pt/PPy–CNT]. The presence of MWCNTs leads to higher activity, which might be due to the increase of electrochemically accessible surface areas, electronic conductivity and easier charge-transfer at polymer/electrolyte interfaces allowing higher dispersion and utilization of the deposited Pt nanoparticles. A comparative investigation was carried out using Pt–Ru nanoparticles decorated PPy–CNT composites. Cyclic voltammetry demonstrated that the synthesized Pt–Ru/PPy–CNT catalysts exhibited higher catalytic activity for methanol oxidation than Pt/PPy–CNT catalyst. Such kinds of Pt and Pt–Ru particles deposited on PPy–CNT composite polymer films exhibit excellent catalytic activity and stability towards methanol oxidation, which indicates that the composite films is more promising support material for fuel cell applications.  相似文献

The use of oxygen in combination with carbon dioxide to afford the direct conversion of alkenes into cyclic carbonates could help to promote the greenhouse gas while minimizing the impact of the oxidation reaction on the environment. In this work, we focused, for the first time, on the association of two catalytic systems individually efficient for the epoxidation of styrene (Mn(salen)/O2 bubbling/isobutyraldehyde at 80 °C) and the cyclocarbonatation of styrene oxide (choline chloride/CO2 at 15 bar and 120 °C). First, the feasibility of the cyclocarbonatation reaction, starting from the non-isolated epoxide, has been proven as styrene carbonate was formed with a 24% yield. The objective was, then, to determine the best conditions allowing the overall transformation in a common solvent. Taking into account the differences in optimal temperatures and kinetics of the two individual steps, it was decided to vary the temperature during the reaction [first 80 °C (3 h) and 120 °C (23 h)]. Under these conditions, styrene was converted into the epoxide but, unfortunately, styrene carbonate formation could not be demonstrated. Blank experiments have clearly shown that isobutyraldehyde, which is essential to the first step, must be completely consumed before the temperature rise. Otherwise, autoxidation of the aldehyde in the presence of styrene oxide at 120 °C leads to other products than styrene carbonate.  相似文献

The effects of pyrolysis temperature and heating rate on the porous structure characteristics of rice straw chars were investigated. The pyrolysis was done at atmospheric pressure and at temperatures ranging from 600 to 1000 °C under low heating rate (LHR) and high heating rates (HHR) conditions. The chars were characterized by ultimate analysis, field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM), helium density measurement and N2 physisorption method. The results showed that temperature had obvious influence on the char porous characteristics. The char yield decreased by approximately 16% with increasing temperature from 600 to 1000 °C. The carbon structure shrinkage and pore narrowing occurred above 600 °C. The shrinkage of carbon skeleton increased by more than 22% with temperatures rising from 600 to 1000 °C. At HHR condition, progressive increases in porosity development with increasing pyrolysis temperature occurred, whereas a maximum porosity development appeared at 900 °C. The total surface area (Stotal) and micropore surface area (Smicro) reached maximum values of 30.94 and 21.81 m2/g at 900 °C and decreased slightly at higher temperatures. The influence of heating rate on Stotal and Smicro was less significant than that of pyrolysis temperature. The pore surface fractal dimension and average pore diameter showed a good linear relationship.  相似文献

Experimental studies on diesel soot oxidation under a wide range of conditions relevant for modern diesel engine exhaust and continuously regenerating particle trap were performed. Hence, reactivity tests were carried out in a fixed bed reactor for various temperatures and different concentrations of oxygen, NO2 and water (300–600 °C, 0–10% O2, 0–600 ppm NO2, 0–10% H2O). The soot oxidation rate was determined by measuring the concentration of CO and CO2 product gases. The parametric study shows that the overall oxidation process can be described by three parallel reactions: a direct C–NO2 reaction, a direct C–O2 reaction and a cooperative C–NO2–O2 reaction. C–NO2 and C–NO2–O2 are the main reactions for soot oxidation between 300 and 450 °C. Water vapour acts as a catalyst on the direct C–NO2 reaction. This catalytic effect decreases with the increase of temperature until 450 °C. Above 450 °C, the direct C–O2 reaction contributes to the global soot oxidation rate. Water vapour has also a catalytic effect on the direct C–O2 reaction between 450 °C and 600 °C. Above 600 °C, the direct C–O2 reaction is the only main reaction for soot oxidation. Taking into account the established reaction mechanism, a one-dimensional model of soot oxidation was proposed. The roles of NO2, O2 and H2O were considered and the kinetic constants were obtained. The suggested kinetic model may be useful for simulating the behaviour of a diesel particulate filter system during the regeneration process.  相似文献

Preliminary tests of the chlorination of two iron oxides (wüstite and hematite) in various chlorinating gas mixtures were performed by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) under non-isothermal conditions. Wüstite started to react with chlorine from about 200 °C generating ferric chloride and hematite as the final reaction products. The presence of a reducing and oxidizing agent in the chlorinating gas mixtures influenced the chlorination reactions of both iron oxides, during non-isothermal treatment, only at temperatures higher than 500 °C.The chlorination kinetics of hematite with Cl2 have been studied in details between 600 and 1025 °C under isothermal chlorination. The values of the apparent activation energy (Ea) were about 180 and 75 kJ/mol in the temperature ranges of 600–875 and 875–1025 °C, respectively. The apparent reaction order with respect to Cl2 was found to be 0.67 at 750 °C. Mathematical model fitting of the kinetics data was carried out to determine the most probable reaction mechanisms.  相似文献

A series of ceria-based composite materials consisting of samaria doped ceria (SDC) and binary carbonates(Li2CO3–Na2CO3) were examined as functional electrolytes for low-temperature solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs). DTA and SEM techniques were applied to characterize the phase- and micro-structural properties of the composite materials. Conductivity measurements were carried on the composite electrolytes with a.c. impedance in air. A transition of ionic conductivity with temperature was occurred among all samples with different carbonate content, which related to the interface phase. Single cells based on the composite electrolytes, NiO as anode and lithiated NiO as cathode, were fabricated by a simple dry-pressing process and tested at 400–600 °C. The maximum output power at 600 °C increased with the carbonate content in the composite electrolytes, and reached the maximum at 25 wt.%, then decreased. Similar trend has also shown at 500 °C, but the maximum was obtained at 20wt.%. The best performances of 1085 mW cm−2 at 600 °C and 690 mW cm−2 at 500 °C were achieved for the composite electrolytes containing 25 and 20 wt.% carbonates, respectively. During fuel cell operation, it found that the SDC-carbonate composites are co-ionic (O2−/H+) conductors. At lower carbonate contents, both oxide–ion and proton conductions were significant, when the content increased to 20–35 wt.%, proton conduction dominated. The detailed conduction mechanism in these composites needs further investigation.  相似文献
