We study 5-dimensional Riemannian manifolds that admit an almost contact metric structure. We classify these structures by their intrinsic torsion and review the literature in terms of this scheme. Moreover, we determine necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of metric connections with vectorial, totally skew-symmetric or traceless cyclic torsion that are compatible with the almost contact metric structure. Finally, we examine explicit examples of almost contact metric 5-manifolds from this perspective.  相似文献

LetM be a 3-dimensional quasi-Sasakian manifold. On such a manifold, the so-called structure function is defined. With the help of this function, we find necessary and sufficient conditions forM to be conformally flat. Next it is proved that ifM is additionally conformally flat with = const., then (a)M is locally a product ofR and a 2-dimensional Kählerian space of constant Gauss curvature (the cosymplectic case), or (b)M is of constant positive curvature (the non cosymplectic case; here the quasi-Sasakian structure is homothetic to a Sasakian structure). An example of a 3-dimensional quasi-Sasakian structure being conformally flat with nonconstant structure function is also described. For conformally flat quasi-Sasakian manifolds of higher dimensions see [O1]  相似文献

Blair [5] has introduced special directions on a contact metric 3-manifolds with negative sectional curvature for plane sections containing the characteristic vector field and, when is Anosov, compared such directions with the Anosov directions. In this paper we introduce the notion of Anosov-like special directions on a contact metric 3-manifold. Such directions exist, on contact metric manifolds with negative -Ricci curvature, if and only if the torsion is -parallel, namely (1.1) is satisfied. If a contact metric 3-manifold M admits Anosov-like special directions, and is -parallel, where is the Berger-Ebin operator, then is Anosov and the universal covering of M is the Lie group (2,R). We note that the notion of Anosov-like special directions is related to that of conformally Anosow flow introduced in [9] and [14] (see [6]).Supported by funds of the M.U.R.S.T. and of the University of Lecce. 1991.  相似文献

We show that a three-dimensional contact metric manifold is locally homogeneous if and only if it is ball-homogeneous and satisfies the condition ∇ξτ=2aτϕ, with a constant. Then, we relate the condition ∇ξτ=0 with the existence of taut contact circles on a compact three-dimensional contact metric manifold. Entrata in Redazione il 20 gennaio 1999. We prove that a contact metric manifold M=(M;η,ξ,φ,g) with η-parallel tensor h is either a K-contact space or a (k,μ)-space, where h denotes, up to a scaling factor, the Lie derivative of the structure tensor φ in the direction of the characteristic vector ξ. In the latter case, its associated CR-structure is in particular integrable.  相似文献

Consider a compact Riemannian manifold (M, g) with metric g and dimension n ≥ 3. The Schouten tensor A g associated with g is a symmetric (0, 2)-tensor field describing the non-conformally-invariant part of the curvature tensor of g. In this paper, we consider the elementary symmetric functions {σ k (A g ), 1 ≤ kn} of the eigenvalues of A g with respect to g; we call σ k (A g ) the k-th Schouten curvature function. We give an isometric classification for compact locally conformally flat manifolds which satisfy the conditions: A g is semi-positive definite and σ k (A g ) is a nonzero constant for some k ∈ {2, ... , n}. If k = 2, we obtain a classification result under the weaker conditions that σ2(A g ) is a non-negative constant and (M n , g) has nonnegative Ricci curvature. The corresponding result for the case k = 1 is well known. We also give an isometric classification for complete locally conformally flat manifolds with constant scalar curvature and non-negative Ricci curvature. We consider a (2m + 3)-dimensional Riemannian manifold Mr, ηr, g ) endowed with a vertical skew symmetric almost contact 3-structure. Such manifold is foliated by 3-dimensional submanifolds of constant curvature tangent to the vertical distribution and the square of the length of the vertical structure vector field is an isoparametric function. If, in addition, Mr, ηr, g ) is endowed with an f -structure φ, M, turns out to be a framed fCR-manifold. The fundamental 2-form Ω associated with φ is a presymplectic form. Locally, M is the Riemannian product of two totally geodesic submanifolds, where is a 2m-dimensional Kaehlerian submanifold and is a 3-dimensional submanifold of constant curvature. If M is not compact, a class of local Hamiltonians of Ω is obtained.  相似文献

A nullity condition for real contact manifolds is defined by Blair, Koufogiorgos and Papantoniu. Lately, Boeckx classified such manifolds completely. In this paper, a nullity condition for complex contact manifolds is defined as follows: take a complex contact manifold whose vertical space is annihilated by the curvature. Then, apply an $\mathcal{H}$-homothetic deformation. In this way, we get a condition which is invariant under $\mathcal{H}$-homothetic deformations. A complex contact manifold satisfying this condition is called a complex (,)-space. Some curvature properties of complex (,)-spaces are studied and it is shown that, just as in the real case, the curvature tensor of a complex (,)-space is completely determined.  相似文献

We study 3---manifolds having Q parallel to characteristic field and the scalar curvature constant along the geodesic foliation generated by e or e. We find out a new class of contact metric 3-manifolds and we give non-flat examples of this class.  相似文献

In this paper we prove that, under an explicit integral pinching assumption between the L2-norm of the Ricci curvature and the L2-norm of the scalar curvature, a closed 3-manifold with positive scalar curvature admits a conformal metric of positive Ricci curvature. In particular, using a result of Hamilton, this implies that the manifold is diffeomorphic to a quotient of S3. The proof of the main result of the paper is based on ideas developed in an article by M. Gursky and J. Viaclovsky.  相似文献

We study three-dimensional pseudo-Riemannian manifolds having distinct constant principal Ricci curvatures. These spaces are described via a system of differential equations, and a simple characterization is proved to hold for the locally homogeneous ones. We then generalize the technique used in [O. Kowalski, F. Prüfer, On Riemannian 3-manifolds with distinct constant Ricci eigenvalues, Math. Ann. 300 (1994) 17-28] for Riemannian manifolds and construct explicitly homogeneous and non-homogeneous pseudo-Riemannian metrics in R3, having the prescribed principal Ricci curvatures.  相似文献

We prove that on a compact (non Sasakian) contact metric 3-manifold with critical metric for the Chern-Hamilton functional, the characteristic vector field ξ is conformally Anosov and there exists a smooth curve in the contact distribution of conformally Anosov flows. As a consequence, we show that negativity of the ξ-sectional curvature is not a necessary condition for conformal Anosovicity of ξ (this completes a result of [4]). Moreover, we study contact metric 3-manifolds with constant ξ-sectional curvature and, in particular, correct a result of [13].  相似文献

We consider a Riemannian manifold with a compatible f-structure which admits a parallelizable kernel. With some additional integrability conditions it is called (almost) -manifold and is a natural generalization of the (almost) contact metric and the Sasakian manifolds. There are presented various methods of constructing examples of such manifolds. There are used structures on the principal bundles and the pull-back bundles. Then there are considered relations between (almost) -manifolds and transverse almost Hermitian structures on the foliated manifolds. Research supported by the Italian MIUR 60% and GNSAGA.  相似文献

In this paper, we discuss statistical manifolds with almost contact sturctures. We define a Sasaki-like statistical manifold. Moreover, we consider Sasaki-like statistical submersions, and we study Sasaki-like statistical submersion with the property that the curvature tensor with respect to the affine connection of the total space satisfies the condition (2.12).  相似文献

In this paper we study contact metric manifoldsM 2n+1(, , ,g) with characteristic vector field belonging to thek-nullity distribution. Moreover we prove that there exist i) nonK-contact, contact metric manifolds of dimension greater than 3 with Ricci operator commuting with and ii) 3-dimensional contact metric manifolds with non-zero constant -sectional curvature.  相似文献

This paper begins the study of relations between Riemannian geometry and global properties of contact structures on 3-manifolds. In particular we prove an analog of the sphere theorem from Riemannian geometry in the setting of contact geometry. Specifically, if a given three dimensional contact manifold (M,ξ) admits a complete compatible Riemannian metric of positive 4/9-pinched curvature then the underlying contact structure ξ is tight; in particular, the contact structure pulled back to the universal cover is the standard contact structure on S 3. We also describe geometric conditions in dimension three for ξ to be universally tight in the nonpositive curvature setting.  相似文献
