We report theoretical and numerical evaluations of the phase diagram for patchy colloidal particles of new generation. We show that the reduction of the number of bonded nearest neighbors offers the possibility of generating liquid states (i.e., states with temperature T lower than the liquid-gas critical temperature) with a vanishing occupied packing fraction (phi), a case which can not be realized with spherically interacting particles. Theoretical results suggest that such reduction is accompanied by an increase of the region of stability of the liquid phase in the (T-phi) plane, possibly favoring the establishment of homogeneous disordered materials at small phi, i.e., stable equilibrium gels. 相似文献

model are thoroughly analysed by using an improved mean-field scheme (which has the customary mean-field theory as its zero-th-order
approximation), recently suggested to deal with fluctuation in a perturbative cluster-cumulant aproach. The ground state and
its phase diagram are discussed in detail.
Riassunto I due modelli di spin unidimensionali proposti da Aharonov e Schwartz come modelli di confinamento isomorfi al ?MIT bag model? sono analizzati compiutamente mediante uno schema di campo medio migliorato (che ammette l’ordinaria teoria di campo medio come approssimazione di ordine zero), elaborato recentemente per trattare le fluttuazioni con un approccio perturbativo che utilizza il calcolo dei cumulanti su grappoli. Lo stato fondamentale ed il corrispondente diagramma di fase sono discussi in dettaglio.
Реэюме Проводится аналиэ двух одномерных спиновых систем, предложенных Аароновым и Щварцем в качестве моделей удержания, иэоморфного в случае MIT-модели ?мешка?. Для аналиэа исполыэуется усовершенствованная схема среднего поля (в которой обычная теория среднего поля чредставляет приближение нулевого порядка). Эта схема была недавно предложена для рассмотрения флуктуаций в пертурбационном кластерном подходе. Подробно обсуждаются основное состояние и соответствуюшая фаэовая диаграмма.相似文献

The collective behavior in a variant of Schelling’s segregation model is characterized with methods borrowed from statistical
physics, in a context where their relevance was not conspicuous. A measure of segregation based on cluster geometry is defined
and several quantities analogous to those used to describe physical lattice models at equilibrium are introduced. This physical
approach allows to distinguish quantitatively several regimes and to characterize the transitions between them, leading to
the building of a phase diagram. Some of the transitions evoke empirical sudden ethnic turnovers. We also establish links
with ‘spin-1’ models in physics. Our approach provides generic tools to analyze the dynamics of other socio-economic systems. 相似文献

We add a term to the original Ashkin-Teller Hamiltonian in order to reduce the degeneracy. It is shoen that a certain class of terms all lead to the same Hamiltonian. This model is a variant on Baker's lattice model for liquids; it takes certain features of water into account by means of a hydrogen-bond parameter in the Hamiltonian. Solutions for the complete phase diagram are obtained by means of the cluster variation method. The model displays three phases chosen to correspond with the vapor, open ice and liquid state. A lattice spin-fermion model for diluted magnetic semiconductors (DMS) is investigated numerically, improving on previously used mean-field approximations. Curie temperatures are obtained varying the Mn spin x and hole n densities, and the impurity-hole exchange J in units of the hop-ping t. Optimal values are found in the subtle intermediate regime between itinerant and localized carriers. At intermediate and large J/t, a "clustered" state is observed above the Curie temperature and ferromagnetism is suppressed. Formal analogies between DMS and manganites are discussed. 相似文献

The effect of particle-nonconserving processes on the steady state of driven diffusive systems is studied within the context of a generalized ABC model. It is shown that in the limit of slow nonconserving processes, the large deviation function of the overall particle density can be computed by making use of the steady-state density profile of the conserving model. In this limit one can define a chemical potential and identify first order transitions via Maxwell's construction, similarly to what is done in equilibrium systems. This method may be applied to other driven models subjected to slow nonconserving dynamics. 相似文献
