The five independent elastic moduli of single-crystalline hcp cobalt were determined by inelastic x-ray scattering to 39 GPa and compared to ultrasonic measurements and first principles calculations. In general the agreement is good, in particular, for the evolution of the longitudinal sound velocity in the a-c plane. This confirms the calculations, suggesting that a similar evolution is valid for hcp iron, the main constituent of the Earth's inner core, up to the highest investigated pressure. Our results represent an important benchmark to further refine ab initio calculations. 相似文献

Abstract Brillouin scattering has been used to study methanol as a function of pressure up to 8.4 GPa. Our near-forward-scattering experiments yield the pressure dependence of the velocity of longitudinal acoustic (LA) phonons, while we determine the pressure dependence of the product of the index of refraction and the LA phonon velocity from our backscattering experiments. The pressure dependence of the LA phonon lifetimes is obtained from the linewidth of the measured Brillouin peaks. From our backscattering experiments we find that the normalized phonon attenuation is a decreasing function of pressure. 相似文献

Abstract Brillouin and Raman Scattering Spectra in SiO2 and GeO2 glasses have been measured in a diamond anvil cell up to pressures of 14 GPa. The elastic properties and equation of state for each glass type were obtained from the Brillouin scattering measurements with respect to pressure. Both elastic constants and compressibility of SiO2 and GeO2 showed anomalous behavior with respect to pressure. This anomalous behavior is reconciled with a model based on the pressure dependent bending of the oxygen angles in both glass types. The Raman measurements corroborate the conclusions from the Brillouin scattering results, namely that the SiO2 and GeO2 bond angles are changing with pressure or the oxygen angle distribution is changed without bond breaking. 相似文献

We report the results of a natural phenacite from 0 to 30.9 GPa using in situ angle-dispersive X-ray diffraction and a diamond anvil cell at the National Synchrotron Light Source, Brookhaven National Laboratory. Over this pressure range, no phase change or disproportionation has been observed. The isothermal equation of state was determined. The values of V0, K0, and K0′ refined with a third-order Birch-Murnaghan equation of state are V0=1116.1±1.2 Å3, K0=223±9 GPa, and K0′=5.5±0.8. Furthermore, we confirm that the linear compressibilities (β) along a and c directions of phenacite are elastically isotropic (βa=1.50×10-3 and βc=1.34×10-3 GPa-1). Consequently, it can be concluded that the compressibility of phenacite under high pressures has been accurately constrained. 相似文献

The elastic and inelastic scattering of 156 MeV6Li projectiles from6Li is studied experimentally and theoretically. The experimental differential cross sections are analyzed by the method of coupled discretized continuum channels in which resonant and non-resonant break-up states of6Li are taken into account explicitly. The measured cross sections are simultaneously reproduced quite well by the calculations. Coupling effects of the break-up states are found to play an important role for the scattering. 相似文献

We present resonant inelastic x-ray scattering and x-ray emission spectroscopy results on Gd metal to 113 GPa which suggest Kondo-like aspects in the delocalization of 4f electrons. Analysis of the resonant inelastic x-ray scattering data reveals a prolonged and continuous delocalization with volume throughout the entire pressure range, so that the volume-collapse transition at 59 GPa is only part of the phenomenon. Moreover, the Lgamma1 x-ray emission spectroscopy spectra indicate no apparent change in the bare 4f moment across the collapse, suggesting that Kondo screening is responsible for the expected Pauli-like behavior in magnetic susceptibility. 相似文献

A target of 6Li was bombarded with the 3He beam from the University of Illinois cyclotron. Differential cross sections for the elastic scattering, the inelastic scattering to the first two excited states of 6Li, and the (3He, t) charge-exchange reaction to the ground state of 6Be were determined over angular ranges of approximately 20° to 115° (c.m.) at 3He energies of 24.6 MeV and 27.0 MeV. (The weak inelastic transition to the 3.56 MeV state of 6Li, ordinarily obscured by a background of three-body break-up, was observed by requiring a coincidence at most angles between the scattered 3He and the 6Li recoil.) The ratio of the integrated charge-exchange cross section between 55° and 115° to the integrated inelastic cross section for this transition (both with ΔT = 1) is somewhat less than expected from isospin considerations (i.e., about 1.6 instead of 2.0). 相似文献

Theoretical differential cross sections for 7Li+24Mg inelastic scattering have been calculated in the DWA using a double folding model. The projectile and target transition densities are matched to electron scattering data and the nucleon-nucleon interaction is chosen to reproduce the real part of the optical potential at the distance where there is 50 % transmission in the elastic channel. There are no free parameters in the calculations. The agreement between the theoretical results and the available experimental data is good which serves to establish a consistency between elastic and inelastic scattering. The cross section for a mutual transition which leaves both the projectile and target in their first excited states is found to come mainly from relative Lr = 4 transfer. It is speculated that a quadrupole term in the optical potential might make important contributions at backward angles in the elastic cross section. 相似文献

We have applied nuclear inelastic absorption (NIA) to the molecular glass former dibutyl phthalate/ferrocene, both in bulk and in nanoporous matrices having pore sizes of 50 and 25 A. The quantity g(E)/E(2), where g(E) is the vibrational density of states (VDOS) of the iron atoms, exhibits a pronounced maximum around 2 meV. Confinement in pores leads to a suppression of the VDOS below 1.5 meV, independent of the pore size. The influence of local interactions at the pore wall was assessed using Raman scattering. Our observations are discussed in the light of experimental and theoretical results on nanoparticles and for the Boson peak. 相似文献

Angular distributions of the 7Li + 10B elastic and inelastic scattering were measured at the energy E
lab (10B) = 51 MeV (21 MeV c.m.). These and previously measured 7Li + 10B elastic-scattering data known at the 7Li-beam energies 24 MeV (14.1 MeV c.m.) and 39 MeV (22.94 MeV c.m.) were analyzed within the optical model and coupled-reaction
channels method to determine the energy dependence of the parameters of the scattering potential and find the difference of
these parameters from that of 7Li + 11B scattering. It was found that the 7Li + 11B potential parameters fail to describe the 7Li + 10B scattering data. The biggest difference is observed between the depths of the imaginary potentials that describe these scatterings. 相似文献

Lithium cesium mixed alkali borate glasses of the composition 67B2O3·xLi2O·(32−x)Cs2O (where x=8, 12, 16, 20 and 24) containing 1 mol% Nd2O3 were prepared by melt quenching. The absorption spectra of Nd3+ were studied from the experimental oscillator strengths and the Judd-Ofelt intensity parameters were obtained. The intensity parameters are used to determine the radiative decay rates (emission probabilities of transitions) (AT), branching ratios (β) and integrated absorption cross-sections (Σ) of the Nd3+ transitions from the excited state J manifolds to the lower lying J′ manifolds. Radiative lifetimes (τR) are estimated for certain excited states of Nd3+ in these mixed alkali borate glasses. Luminescence spectra were measured and the emission cross-sections (σp) were evaluated for the three emission transitions. The variation of luminescence intensity with x was recorded for the three transitions at different excitation power to see the effect of mixed alkalies in these borate glasses. 相似文献

The compression behavior of a natural haüyne has been investigated to about 8.1 GPa at 300 K using in situ angle-dispersive X-ray diffraction and a diamond anvil cell at High Pressure Experiment Station, Beijing Synchrotron Radiation Facility (BSRF). Over this pressure range, no phase change or disproportionation has been observed. The isothermal equation of state was determined for the first time. Elastic and inelastic scattering data extending to θc.m ≈ 175° are reported for 6Li + 28Si at 27 and 34 MeV. Optical model analyses of the elastic data were made using a variety of real potential forms. The large-angle data cannot be fitted with a Woods-Saxon real potential, but are well described by Woods-Saxon squared, double-folded or Fourier-Bessel potentials. The real potential is the same at both energies, but the imaginary potential is weaker at 27 MeV. The inelastic data were analyzed using the DWBA and coupled channels techniques with folded real form factors and deformed Woods-Saxon imaginary potentials, with the deformations taken from electron scattering. The 2+ state was fitted well at both energies with the DWBA, while the prediction decreased too rapidly at large angles for the 4+ state. The large-angle 4+ data were better described when two-step excitations were included in the coupled-channels calculations. The forward-angle 2+ data are sensitive to the interference between Coulomb and nuclear scattering and show that the nuclear and Coulomb deformation parameters β2 are equal for this transition. 相似文献
