A new, “off-shell”, approach to conformal invariance, β-functions and field equations in first quantized string theory is presented. The method, valid to all orders in the weak-field expansion and non-perturbatively in α′, is illustrated for a tachyon background at genus zero and one level. The mechanism of the initial inflationary scenario of the Universe and of its late-time acceleration can be described by assuming the existence of some gravitationally coupled scalar fields $\phi $ , with the inflaton field generating inflation and the quintessence field being responsible for the late accelerated expansion. Various inflationary and late-time accelerated scenarios are distinguished by the choice of an effective self-interaction potential $V(\phi )$ , which simulates a temporarily non-vanishing cosmological term. In this work, we present a new formalism for the analysis of scalar fields in flat isotropic and homogeneous cosmological models. The basic evolution equation of the models can be reduced to a first-order non-linear differential equation. Approximate solutions of this equation can be constructed in the limiting cases of the scalar-field kinetic energy and potential energy dominance, respectively, as well as in the intermediate regime. Moreover, we present several new accelerating and decelerating exact cosmological solutions, based on the exact integration of the basic evolution equation for scalar-field cosmologies. More specifically, exact solutions are obtained for exponential, generalized cosine hyperbolic, and power-law potentials, respectively. Cosmological models with power-law scalar field potentials are also analyzed in detail.  相似文献

We study the first-order off-shell corrections to Glauber's multiple scattering model. These consist of a direct and a rescattering term, and are obtained from the eikonal corrections studied in a previous paper by a simple substitution. For an independent particle nuclear model the direct term becomes identical to an expression previously derived by Moniz. We show that the rescattering term is in general not small compared to the direct term. For high incident energy a comparison is made with other corrections to the Glauber model. An optical potential is proposed which consists of the Glauber potential and its off-shell, eikonal, Fresnel and spatial correlation corrections.  相似文献

We calculate the binding energy of 16O for a set of phase-shift-equivalent potentials previously studied in nuclear matter. Off-shell variations of up to 2.8 MeV per particle occur compared with about a 10 MeV per particle variation in nuclear matter. As in nuclear matter calculations a nearly linear relation exists between the variations in the binding-energy results and the wound integral k. We compare the 16O results with a nuclear matter calculation at the “equivalent” nuclear matter density of kF = 1.13 fm−1. This “equivalent” density reflects the fact that 16O has a surface and hence a lower average density than nuclear matter. The 16O and nuclear matter off-shell variations are comparable once one takes into account the lower average density of 16O and the suppression of the relative D-wave interaction — also a surface effect. We present a method of computing the correlated wave functions of finite nuclear systems and display such wave functions for 16O. The correlated wave functions of 16O and of nuclear matter are strikingly similar for all of the potentials studied.  相似文献

In the framework of off-shell quantum electrodynamics — the quantum field theory of a covariant symplectic mechanics, in which events evolve according to a Poincaré-invariant parameter τ — we study the low energy scattering of identical scalar particles. It is shown that exchange of mass is permitted in the formalism, and we calculate scattering cross sections for this case. In these cross sections, the usual forward pole of standard scalar QED splits into two poles and a zero, slightly offset from the forward direction. As mass exchange vanishes, a pole-zero pair cancel, the remaining pole moves to θ = 0, and the standard cross section is recovered.  相似文献

We present calculations of laser-assisted differential cross-sections in the second Born approximation. Single-particle resonance states of 122Zr are studied in the real stabilization method within the framework of relativistic mean field theory. Two efficient methods are adopted to extract the resonance energy and width of 122Zr. It is proved that the physical states of the open-string sector of the ten-dimensional string theory form supersymmetry multiplets. The proof is achieved by first constructing a new formulation of the spectrum generating algebra, and then forming the supersymmetry operator (as well as associated operators) and demonstrating that it transforms as a spinor under Lorentz transformations and has the correct anticommutation relations. The results can be interpreted either in terms of a covariant formulation or in terms of a light-cone gauge formulation. In the former case certain formulas are not completely proved, although they are in the latter. When interpreted in four dimensions (by dimensional reduction) the string theory provides an interacting theory of an infinite number of massive representations of N = 4 supersymmetry involving particles of arbitrarily high spin.  相似文献

In the dual and fermion proposed by Neveu, Schwarz and Ramond, we find gauge identities involving vertex parts and also off-shell supergauge identities. When their models are translated into the secondary quantized field theory, we no longer can impose the gauge identities as operator ones, since they would lead to a contradiction of the second-quantization rules. We therefore require weak forms of the gauge identities just in an analogous way to the Lorentz condition in quantum electrodynamics. It is then shown that the weak forms of the identities are consistent with the second-quantization rules and also with field equations.  相似文献

A separable representation of theS-wave Paris potential and a phase-shift equivalent Yamaguchi-type potential significantly differing in their off-shell behaviours are used to calculate second-order polarization observables of elastic nucleon-deuteron scattering atE D=10 and 20MeV. Off-shell effects are found that stem from differences in the nuclear interaction in the inner regionr?1.2 fm. Adding approximate Coulomb-distortion contributions to the purely nuclear Faddeev amplitudes proton-deuteron predictions are obtained. Coulomb effects are not found to be negligible. Comparison with experimental data, in particular, the spin-correlation parameterC y,y of the reaction \({}^1\vec H(\vec d,d)^1 H\) forE D=10MeV vector-polarized deuterons and the spin-transfer coefficientsK y y′ ,K x x′ andK z x′ for \({}^2H(\vec p,\vec p)^2 H\) atE p=10MeV, prefer the interaction model that contains an intermediate-range repulsion.  相似文献
