Using SU(6)W symmetry in its l-broken form we find that the newly reported relative signs of πN → ?N resonant amplitudes seem to indicate a universal “SU (6)W-like” preference for all observed multiplets. Since the corresponding πN → πΔ phases favour an “anti-SU(6)W” solution for the 70, LP = 1? multiplet the l-broken SU (6)W model now faces a serious contradiction.  相似文献

Within the context of a free field model, a unitary transformation is introduced which carries the entire [U(6) × U(6)]βWcurrents of the current system, with subgroup SU(6)Wcurrents, into a newly defined [U(6) × U(6)]βWstrong, with diagonal subgroup SU(6)Wstrong, which commutes with the boost in the z-direction. Analysis of strong current-hadron scattering amplitudes in the deep Regge region permits the extraction of the hadron couplings to vector and tensor Regge exchanges as the matrix elements of “strong” charges.  相似文献

We have studied the dynamics of photoexcited tungsten cluster anions Wn-\mathrm{W}_{n}^{-} (n=3,4,…,14) by means of time-resolved two-photon photodetachment spectroscopy. At an excitation energy of h ν pump=1.56 eV the photoinduced dynamics is mainly dominated by fast electronic relaxation processes. For the smallest clusters, i.e., W3-\mathrm{W}_{3}^{-}, W4-\mathrm{W}_{4}^{-}, and W5-\mathrm{W}_{5}^{-}, individual relaxation channels have been identified and resolved on a timescale well below 100 fs. The time constants for the decay of nascent and secondary electrons have been deduced from a Bloch model. Complete thermalization takes place for all clusters on a timescale of ∼1 ps.  相似文献

We point out that the intersection of the Berkeley-SLAC and Saclay signs of πN→?N resonant amplitudes are consistent with ?-broken SU(6)W if both the 70, LP = 1?and 56, LP = 2+ multiplets choose anti-SU(6)W solutions. The symmetry scheme still fails in that the πN→πΔ relative signs require an SU(6)W-like solution for the 56, LP = 2+. This failure however now rests on a single incorrect sign prediction among all N? and Δπ amplitudes.  相似文献

We propose a class of supersymmetric grand unified models where parity and SU(2)R breaking scales are widely separated and compatible with a low-lying mass for the right-handed gauge boson WR. The intermediate symmetry SU(4)c×SU(2)L×SU(2)R and Higgs content are uniquely fixed if mWR < 109 GeV. The unification scale lies within an order of magnitude below the Planck mass.  相似文献

Certain B s 0V 1 V 2 decays (V i is a vector meson) can be related by flavor SU(3) symmetry to corresponding B d 0V 3 V 4 decays. In this paper, we show that the final-state polarization can be predicted in the B s 0 decay, assuming polarization measurements of the B d 0 decay. This can be done within the scenario of penguin annihilation (PA), which has been suggested as an explanation of the unexpectedly large transverse polarization in Bφ K *. PA is used to estimate the breaking of flavor SU(3) symmetry in pairs of decays. Two of these for which PA makes a reasonably precise prediction of the size of SU(3) breaking are (B s 0φ φ,B d 0φ K 0*) and ( ). The polarization measurement in the B d 0 decay can be used to predict the transverse polarization in the B s 0 decay and will allow for testing of PA as well as the other assumptions in the analysis.  相似文献

By adding suitable discrete flavor symmetries to SU(2)L ? SU(2)R ? U(1) left-right symmetric gauge models of weak and electromagnetic interactions, we are able to express all the mixing angles between the quark flavors (u, d, s,c) in terms of the quark masses. This enables us to compute the Cabibbo angle and the CP violating phases using plausible values for the quark masses. The CP violating K ar 2π decay amplitude η+? (and η00 in the model is then given purely in terms of the parity violating parameter of the model (mWL+/mWR+)2.  相似文献

The expansion of the {B 2} and {B 4} tensors of the spin Hamiltonian (SH) for Mn2+ (6S-state) is performed in terms of the irreducible tensor products {V L 1 ?V L 2}2 and {V L 1 ?V L 2}4 of the crystal field (CF) tensors {V L 1} and {V L 2}. The EPR spectra of Mn2+ in the ZnSeO4·6H2O crystal are studied and the SH tensors {B 2} and {B 4} are calculated. The tensors {V 4?V 4}2 and {V 4?V 4}4 are computed using the point-charge model (PCM) of the [Zn(H2O)6] complex with the C2 symmetry and are compared with the SH tensors {B 2} and {B 4}, respectively. The correct signs of the elements and the pseudo-symmety axes of the tensors are obtained both for the {B 2} tensor and {V 4?V 4}2 and for the {B 4} tensor and {V 4?V 4}4. It is concluded that the irreducible tensor products {V 4?V 4}2 and {V 4?V 4}4 provide the predominant contribution respectively to the SH tensors {B 2} and {B 4} of Mn2+.  相似文献

New data are presented for the reaction K?p → Λπ+π? at 11 energies between 1775 and 1957 MeV in the centre-of-mass. New values for the masses and widths of the Σ±(1385) are given. The differential cross sections and the complete spin density matrices for the reactions K?p → π±Σ? (1385) were extracted from these data using also the information from the Λ decay. An energy-dependent partial-wave analysis has been carried out over the c.m. range 1775–2170 MeV also using data from an earlier experiment. Comparisons between the observed resonant amplitudes and SU(3) and SU(6)W ? O(3) predictions have been made.  相似文献

A unified gauge model is built with Higgs in 210⊙126⊙10 representations and intermediate symmetry $$SU(3)_c \otimes SU(2)_L \otimes SU(2)_R \otimes U(1)_{B - L} .$$ . The vacuum of the210 is in a two-dimensional stratum. From the values sin2θ W (M W ) and \(\frac{\alpha }{{\alpha _s }}(M_W )\) one determines the high scales, with the result to predict leptoquarks heavier than 1015 GeV and Majorana masses for the right-handed neutrinos around 1011 GeV.  相似文献

The decay B s μ + μ ? is one of the milestones of the flavor program at the LHC. We reappraise its Standard Model prediction. First, by analyzing the theoretical rate in the light of its main parametric dependence, we highlight the importance of a complete evaluation of higher-order electroweak corrections, at present known only in the large-m t limit, and leaving sizable dependence on the definition of electroweak parameters. Using insights from a complete calculation of such corrections for $K\to\pi\nu\bar{\nu}We present O(?? s ) results on the decays of polarized W ± and Z bosons into massive quark pairs. The NLO QCD corrections to the polarized decay functions are given up to the second order in the quark mass expansion. We find a surprisingly strong dependence of the NLO polarized decay functions on finite quark mass effects even at the relatively large mass scale of the W ± and Z bosons. As a main application we consider the decay t??b+W + involving the helicity fractions ?? mm of the W + boson followed by the polarized decay $W^{+}(\uparrow)\to q_{1}\bar{q}_{2}$ for which we determine the O(?? s ) polar angle decay distribution. We also discuss NLO polarization effects in the production/decay process $e^{+}e^{-}\to Z(\uparrow)\to q\bar{q}$ .  相似文献

Four families of composite quarks and leptons, two standard and two non-standard, are found in a unique solution SU(3)HC × SU(6)L × SU(6)R of a restricted 't Hooft anomaly-matching program. Testable predictions emerge, such as prohibition of μ → eγ, zero charge asymmetry in e+e? → τ+τ? in contrast to e+e? → μ+μ?, and a rich new hadron spectrum masses around MW. A minimal set of spectator fermions contains color-singlet objects with fractional quark-like charges.  相似文献

The null-plane dynamics of hydrogen-like atoms is studied in approximations depending on c, the velocity of light, being large. Neglecting terms in the Hamiltonian of order c?3 (relative to electron rest energy) a symmetry SU (2)W appears which is analogous to the SU (6)W of hadron classification. This symmetry, if accurate, would dictate zero ground state magnetic moment. The symmetry is broken by terms of third order, which can, however, be transformed a way by the appropriate approximation to the Melosh transformation. There then emerges a better symmetry, SU (2)M, broken only at fourth order. The ground state magnetic moment acquires its usual non-relativistic value. The symmetry SU (2)M corresponds to a subgroup of a symmetry [U (2) × U (2)]FW which appears in the old Foldy-Wouthuysen approach when spin-orbit coupling is neglected. As well as “current” and “constituent” pictures, “classification” pictures are distinguished; it is to one of the latter that the Melosh transformation transforms.  相似文献

We discuss the polar angle decay distribution in the decay of on-shell and off-shell polarized (W, Z) gauge bosons into massive quark pairs. In particular for the off-shell decays in $H \to \left( {W,Z} \right) + \left( {W^* ,Z^* } \right)\left( { \to q_1 ,\vec q_2 } \right)$ it is important to keep the masses of the charm and bottom quarks at their finite values since the scale of the problem is not set by m W,Z 2 but by the offshellness of the gauge boson which varies in the range (m 1 + m 2)2q 2 ≤ (m H ? m W,Z )2.  相似文献

The kinematic singularity and constraint free amplitudes for e+e?→two particles which can have arbitrary spins are obtained in a simple closed form. The relationships of these amplitudes with the usual multipole form factors are given. It is noted that SU(6)W and tests of ideas based on the Melosh transformation are liberated from their γN and πN arena and can be confronted with arbitrary targets and axcitations. The matrix elements or arbitrary meson pairs are then derived, rates are computed for pseudoscalar and vector meson production, and some tests of symmetry breaking mechanisms proposed. Extension to SU(4)[SU(8)W] broken in the masses enables estimates of charmed particle production rates to be obtained. General features of πR final states suggest that scaling violation at small x may be connected with threshold phenomena as channels open up. A subtle difference between space-like and time-like regions is highted.  相似文献

The phases of resonant amplitudes in πN → πΔ are studied in a modified version of SU(6)W in which amplitudes involving different relative orbital angular momenta l are uncoupled form one another. This form of SU(6)W is equivalent to one studied recently by Melosh, in which the set of selection rules for decays is extended to allow for more types of transition than in the original version of this symmetry.The predictions are compared with a recent preliminary analysis by Herndon et al. Even the extended (“l-broken”) version of SU(6)W is found to disagree with the present experimental solution. If this solution persists, it constitutes the strongest present evidence against such a symmetry.  相似文献

We analyze the high-energy behaviour of vector boson scattering amplitudes within the framework of a recently suggested lagrangian model based on global weak isospin symmetry broken by electromagnetism. Requiring vanishing of the most strongly (as s2) rising contribution to vector boson scattering amplitudes leads to vector boson self-interactions dependent on a single parameter, for which the anomalous W± magnetic moment, κ, can be chosen. Tree unitarity is violated at about 2 TeV for arbitrary κ as in the SU(2)L × U(1)Y theory for mH → ∞. The model is well suited for significant tests of the vector boson sector of the SU(2)L × U(1)Y electroweak theory in processes such as e+e → W+W.  相似文献

Previous results for the radiative corrections to the ratio of decay probabilities of β and μ decays are generalized to the case of arbitrary symmetry breaking in the framework of the SU(2)L × U(1) gauge model. In this more general case, the results remain very simple: the corrections are given by the corresponding expressions of the local V-A theory with mW substituted for the cutoff Λ plus a positive definite contribution which depends on θW and R = mW2/mZ2.Thus, the corrections in the general case are still constrained to have large values as required by Cabibbo universality and the present experimental values on β and μ decays. For reasonable values of mZ and mW the results in the general case are numerically close to those previously obtained in the simplest version of the theory. To illustrate this point the corrections are compared for two different choices of the parameters of the theory. In an appendix we discuss, rather briefly, the theoretical arguments that allow us to generalize pprevious discussions the case of fractionally charged quarks.  相似文献
