The two chromium chelates of Schiff bases, N-(acetoacetanilide)-1,2-diaminoethane (L1) and N,N′-bis(acetoacetanilide)-triethylenetetraammine (L2), have been synthesized and explored as neutral ionophores for preparing poly(vinylchloride) (PVC) based membrane sensors selective to Cr(III). The addition of lipophilic anion excluder (NaTPB) and various plasticizers viz. o-Nitrophenyloctyl ether (o-NPOE), dioctylpthalate (DOP), dibutylphthalate (DBP), tris(2-ethylhexyl)phosphate (TEHP), and benzyl acetate (BA) have found to improve the performance of the sensors. The best performance was obtained for the membrane sensor having a composition of L1:PVC:DBP:NaTPB in the ratio 5:150:250:3 (w/w). The sensor exhibits Nernstian response in the concentration range 8.9 × 10−8 to 1.0 × 10−1 M Cr3+ with limit of detection 5.6 × 10−8 M. The proposed sensor manifest advantages of relatively fast response (10 s) and good selectivity over some alkali, alkaline earth, transition and heavy metal ions. The selectivity behavior of the proposed electrode revealed a considerable improvement as compared to the best previously PVC-membrane electrode for chromium(III) ion. The potentiometric response of the proposed sensor was independent of pH of the test solution in the range of 2.0-7.0. The sensor has found to work satisfactorily in partially non-aqueous media up to 20% (v/v) content of methanol, ethanol and acetonitrile and could be used for a period of 3 months. The proposed electrode was used as an indicator electrode in potentiometric titration of chromium ion with EDTA and in direct determination in different water and food samples.  相似文献

A new carbon paste electrode modified with tetramethyl thiuram disulfide is prepared to use as copper potentiometric sensor in batch and flow analysis. The influence of pH and carbon paste composition on the potentiometric response is studied. The principal parameters of the flow system are optimized and the detection limits and the selectivity coefficients of the potentiometric sensor are calculated for static and flow mode. In both cases, the sensor shows high selectivity to copper ions but in flow analysis this selectivity is higher. The obtained detection limits are 4.6 × 10−8 M for batch measurements and 2.0 × 10−7 M for on-line analysis. The potentiometric sensor is applied to copper(II) determination in real samples in static and flow measurements. In both analysis modes, successful results are obtained.  相似文献

A new ion-selective electrode (ISE) for the detection of trace chromium(III) was designed by using 2-acetylpyridine and nanoporous silica gel (APNSG)-functionalized carbon paste electrode (CPE). The presence of APNSG acted as not only a paste binder, but also a reactive material. With 7.5 wt% APNSG proportions, the developed electrode exhibited wide dynamic range of 1.0 × 10−8 to 1.0 × 10−3 M toward Cr(III) with a detection limit of 8.0 × 10−9 M and a Nernstian slope of 19.8 ± 0.2 mV decade−1. The as-prepared electrode displayed rapid response (∼55 s), long-time stability, and high sensitivity. Moreover, the potentiometric responses could be carried out with wide pH range of 1.5-5.0. In addition, the content of Cr(III) in food samples, e.g. coffee and tea leaves, has been assayed by the developed electrode, atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS) and atomic emission spectrometer (ICP-AES), respectively, and consistent results were obtained. Importantly, the response mechanism of the proposed electrode was investigated by using AC impedance and UV-vis spectroscopy.  相似文献

This paper demonstrates the application of composite multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWNT) polyvinylchloride (MWNT-PVC) based on 1,5-diphenylcarbazide as chromium ionophore in potentiometric measurement. The sensor shows a good Nernstian slope of 19.52 ± 0.40 mV/decade in a wide linear range concentration of 6.3 × 10−8 to 1.0 × 10−2 M for Cr(NO3)3. The detection limit of this electrode was found to be 3.2 × 10−8 M of Cr(NO3)3 and is applicable in a pH range of 3.0-6.8. It has a short response time of about 10 s. This chromium electrode has a good selectivity over 16 various metal ions. The practical analytical utility of this electrode was demonstrated by measurement of Cr(III) in drinking water and mineral water samples without any serious preliminary pre-treatment and chromium in multivitamin.  相似文献

A novel coated wire electrode (CWE) for Al(III) ions is described based on 2-(1H-benzo[d]imidazole-1-yl)-1-phenylethanoneoxime as a new ionophore in carbon-PVC composite. The sensor exhibits significantly enhanced selectivity toward Al3+ ions over the concentration range 4.3 × 10−7 to 5.0 × 10−2 M with a lower detection limit of 2.5 × 10−7 M and a Nernstian slope of 19.41 ± 0.52 mV decade−1 of aluminium activity. This sensor has a short response time of about 10 s and is reproducible and stable for at least forty-five days. This proposed CWE which is designed for the first time revealed good selectivity for Al(III) over a wide variety of other cations. The performance of the sensor is best in the pH range of 3.1-5.5 and it also works well in partially non-aqueous medium. Moreover, the assembly has been successfully used as an indicator electrode in the potentiometric titration of aluminium (III) against EDTA and also in determining Al(III) quantitatively in pharmaceutical and mineral water samples.  相似文献

A new chelating resin, Aurin tricarboxylic acid modified silica, was synthesized. The resin behaves as a selective chelating ion exchanger for Cr(III) at a pH 3.8-5.5. A polyvinyl chloride-based membrane electrode of the modified silica has been fabricated and explored as sensor for Cr(III) ions. The membrane works well over the concentration range 7.0 × 10−6 to 1 × 10−1 M of Cr(III) with a Nernstian slope of 19.0 mV per decade of concentration. The response time of the sensor is 10 s and it can be used for a period of 5 months. The performance of the sensor is best in the pH range 3.5-6.5 and it also works well in partially non-aqueous medium. The selectivity coefficient values depicts that the membrane exhibits good selectivity over a number of interfering ions. Moreover, the membrane sensor has been applied to analyse the concentration of chromium in certified steel sample and food materials with greater than 97% accuracy.  相似文献

Ion-selective electrode (ISE) was designed by dispersing the dysprosium(III) IIP particles in 2-nitrophenyloctyl ether plasticizer and then embedded in polyvinyl chloride matrix. The ISE shows a Nernstian response for dysprosium(III) over a wide concentration range (8.0 × 10−6 to 1.0 × 10−1 M) with a slope of 21.7 mV per decade. The limit of detection was 2 × 10−6 M. This sensor has a very fast response time (∼10 s) and offers high selectivity compared to conventional chemical sensors towards dysprosium(III) with respect to several alkali, alkaline earth and transition metal ions as the selectivity is 10-100-fold better. The sensor was used for determination of dysprosium(III) ions by potentiometric (EDTA) titration and has been successfully demonstrated for the determination of fluoride in mouth wash solution.  相似文献

In this work, a novel La(III) membrane sensor based on 8-amino-N-(2-hydroxybenzylidene)naphthylamine (AIP) is presented. This electrode reveals good selectivity for La3+ over a wide variety of lanthanides metal ions. Theoretical calculations and conductance study of AIP to lanthanum and some other metal ions were carried out and confirmed selectivity toward La(III) ions. The electrode comprises 7% AIP, 30% PVC, 61% NPOE and 2% KTpClPB. The sensor displays a linear dynamic range between 1.0 × 10−7 and 1.0 × 10−1 M, with a nice Nernstian slope of 20.3 ± 0.3 mV per decade and a detection limit of 8.0 × 10−8 M. The potentiometric response is independent of pH in the range of 4.0-9.0. The proposed sensor posses the advantage of short response time, and especially, very good selectivity towards a large number of cations, such as Sm(III), Ce(III, Pr(III), Yb(III) and Hg(II), low detection limit and wide linear dynamic range in comparison with former ones. The electrode can be used for at least seven weeks without any considerable divergence in the potentials. It was used as an indicator electrode in the potentiometric titration of La(III) ions with EDTA. The sensor was applied to the determination of La(III) ions concentration in binary mixtures. It was also applied for the determination of fluoride ions in mouth wash preparations.  相似文献

A novel PVC-based membrane sensor based on vanadyl salophen (VNSP) for determination of trace amounts of monohydrogenphosphate (MHP) ions is introduced. The electrode revealed Nernstian response towards monohydrogenphosphate over the wide concentration range from 1.0×10−1 to 1.0×10−6 M at the pH of 8.2. The effect of solvent mediator, cationic additives and amount of ion-carrier on the behavior of the sensor was investigated. The sensor shows a short response time (<20 s) in the whole concentration ranges. The selectivity of the electrode is very high, and it can be used for detection of trace amounts of monohydrogenphosphate in the presence of large amounts of other anions. The detection limit of the electrode was 5.0×10−7 M (48 ng/ml) and it could be used for 14 weeks without any measurable changes in the slope. The potentiometric selectivity coefficients data revealed negligible interference from 16 common anions. It was successfully applied for the direct determination of monohydrogenphosphate in fertilizer samples and, as an indicator electrode, in potentiometric titration of HPO42− ion with barium nitrate.  相似文献

A novel in-capillary reduction and capillary electrophoretic (CE)-chemiluminescence (CL) method was developed for the sensitive and selective determination of chromium(III) and chromium(VI). The proposed method was based on the in-capillary reduction of Cr(VI) with acidic H2O2 to form Cr(III) using the zone-passing technique and chemiluminescence detection of Cr(III). The sample [Cr3+ and CrO42−], hydrochloric acid, and H2O2 (reductant) solution segments were injected for specified periods of time in this order from the anodic end of a capillary, followed by application of an appropriate running voltage between both ends. As both chromium species have opposite charges, Cr3+ migrates to the cathode while CrO42− ion, moving oppositely to the anode, reacts with acidic H2O2, resulted in formation of Cr3+. Based on the migration time difference of both Cr3+ ions, they were separated by zone electrophoresis. Running buffer was composed of 0.02 mol l−1 HAc-NaAc (pH 4.7) with 1×10−3 mol l−1 EDTA. Parameters affecting CE-CL separation and detection, such as reductant concentration, mixing mode of the analytes with CL reagent, CL reaction reagent pH and concentration, stability of luminol-hydrogen peroxide mixed solution were optimized. The limits of detection for chromium(III) and chromium(VI) (3σ) were 6×10−13 mol l−1 (mass concentration 12 zmol) and 8×10−12 mol l−1 (160 zmol), respectively. This method offered potential advantages of simplicity, sensitivity, selectivity and applicability to the determination of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) in environmental water.  相似文献

Cobalt(II) phthalocyanine [Co(II)Pc] is used as both an ionophore and chromogen for batch and flow injection potentiometric and spectrophotometric determination of anionic surfactants (SDS), respectively. The potentiometric technique involves preparation of a polymeric membrane sensor by dispersing [Co(II)Pc] in a plasticized PVC membrane. Under batch mode of operation, the sensor displays a near-Nernstian slope of −56.5 mV decade−1, wide response linear range of 7.8 × 10−4 to 8.0 × 10−7 mol L−1, lower detection limit of 2.5 × 10−7 mol L−1 and exhibits high selectivity for anionic surfactants in the presence of many common ions. Under hydrodynamic mode of operation (FIA), the slope of the calibration plot, limit of detection, and working linear range are −51.1 mV decade−1, 5.6 × 10−7 and 1.0 × 10−3 to 1.0 × 10−6 mol L−1, respectively. The spectrophotometric method is based on the use of [Co(II)Pc] solution in dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) as a chromogenic reagent. The maximum absorption of the reagent at 658 nm linearly decreases with the increase of anionic surfactant over the concentration range 2-30 μg mL−1. The lower limit of detection is 1 μg mL−1 and high concentrations of many interfering ions are tolerated. Flow injection spectrophotometric measurements are carried out by injection of the surfactant test solution in a stream of the reagent in DMSO. The sample throughput, working range and lower detection limit are 25-30 samples h−1, 4-60 and 2 μg mL−1, respectively. The potentiometric and spectrophotometric techniques are applied to the batch and flow injection measurements of anionic surfactants in some commercial detergent products. The results agree fairly well with data obtained using the standard methylene blue spectrophotometric method.  相似文献

The feasibility of a newly synthesized Rh(III) complex, Rh[(trpy)(bpy)Cl](PF6)2, as a novel ionophore for the preparation of anion-selective polymeric membrane electrodes was tested. The ionophore exhibited anti-Hofmeister behavior with enhanced potentiometric selectivity toward thiocyanate ion compared to other anions. The influence of some experimental parameters such as membrane composition, nature and amount of plasticizer and additive and concentration of internal solution on the potential response of the SCN sensor were investigated. The electrode exhibits a Nernstian response for SCN over a wide concentration range (1.0 × 10−5 to 1.0 × 10−1 M) with a slope −58.7 ± 0.5 mV per decade and a detection limit of 4.0 × 10−6 M (0.23 ppm). It could be used in a pH range of 3.0-8.0 and has a fast response time of about 15 s. The proposed sensor was used for the determination of thiocyanate ions in real samples such as urine and saliva of smokers and nonsmokers and, as an indicator electrode, in potentiometric titrations of SCN ion.  相似文献

In this work, a highly selective and sensitive monohydrogen phosphate membrane sensor based on a molybdenum bis(2-hydroxyanil) acetylacetonate complex (MAA) is reported. The sensor shows a linear dynamic range between 1.0 × 10−1 and 1.0 × 10−7 M, with a nice Nernstian behavior (−29.5 ± 0.3 mV decade−1) in pH of 8.2. The detection limit of the electrode is 6.0 × 10−8 M (∼6 ppb). The best performance was obtained with a membrane composition of 32% poly(vinyl chloride), 58% benzyl acetate, 2% hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide and 8% MAA. The sensor possesses the advantages of short response time, low detection limit and especially, very good selectivity towards a large number of organic and inorganic anions including salicylate, citrate, tartarate, acetate, oxalate, fluoride, chloride, bromide, iodide, sulfite, sulfate, nitrate, nitrite, cyanide, thiocyanate, perchlorate, metavanadate, and bicarbonate ions. The electrode can be used for at least 10 weeks without any considerable divergence in its slope and detection limit. It was used as an indicator electrode in potentiometric titration of monohydrogenphosphate ion with barium chloride. The proposed sensor was successfully applied to direct determination of monohydrogenphosphate in two fertilizer samples (NPK).  相似文献

A highly selective, and low cost extractive spectrofluorometric method has been developed for determination of trace concentrations of chromium (III & VI) in water samples using the fluorescent reagent tetraphenylphosphonium bromide (TPP+·Br). The method was based upon solvent extraction of the produced ion associate [TPP+·CrO3Cl] of TPP+·Br and halochromate in aqueous HCl and measuring the fluorescence quenching of TPP+·Br in chloroform at λex/em = 242/305 nm. The fluorescence intensity of TPP+Br decreased linearly on increasing the chromium (VI) concentration in the range of 1-114 μg L−1. The limits of detection (LOD) and quantification (LOQ) of chromium (VI) were 0.43 and 1.42 μg L−1, respectively. Chromium (III) species after oxidation to chromium (VI) with H2O2 in alkaline solution were also determined. Chemical speciation of chromium (III & VI) species at trace levels was achieved. The method was applied for analysis of chromium in certified reference material (IAEA Soil-7) and in tap- and wastewater samples and compared successfully (>95%) with the inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) results.  相似文献

A new fluorogenic method for the selective and sensitive determination of chromium(VI) in acidic water using rhodamine B hydrazide was developed. This method was based on the oxidation of non-fluorescent rhodamine B hydrazide by potassium dichromate in acidic aqueous conditions to give rhodamine B, which was highly fluorescent, as a product. With the optimum condition described, the fluorescence enhancement at 585 nm was linearly related to the concentration of chromium(VI) in the range of 5.0 × 10−8 to 2.0 × 10−6 mol L−1 (2.60-104 ng mL−1) with a correlation coefficient of R2 = 0.9993 (n = 18) and a detection limit of 5.5 × 10−9 mol L−1 (0.29 ng mL−1). The R.S.D. was 2.2% (n = 5). The proposed method was also applied to the determination of chromium(VI) in drinking water, river water and synthetic samples.  相似文献

The concentrations of chromium (III) and (VI) in fly ash from nine Australian coal fired power stations were determined. Cr(VI) was completely leached by extraction with 0.01 M NaOH solution and the concentration was determined by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES). This was confirmed by determining Cr(III) and Cr(VI) in the extracts of fly ash that had been spiked with chromium salts. These analytical measurements were done using a combination of ion-exchange chromatography and ICP-AES. The elutant was 0.05 M HNO3 containing 0.5%-CH3OH. When the column was operated at a flow rate of 1.2 ml min−1 and samples were injected by use of a sample loop with a volume of 100 μl, Cr(III) and Cr(VI) in sample solution was exclusively separated within approximately 10 min. The detection limits (3σ) were 5 ng for Cr(III) (0.050 mg l−1) and 9 ng for Cr(VI) (0.090 mg l−1), respectively. A relative standard deviation of 1.9% (n = 6) was obtained for the determination by IC-ICP-AES of 0.25 mg l−1 Cr(III) and Cr(VI).  相似文献

A new enantioselective potentiometric sensor containing chiral salen Mn(III) as the chiral selector was designed for the assay of l-mandelic acid (l-MA). Optimized membrane electrodes displayed linear dynamic range from 1 × 10−5 to 1 × 10−1 mol L−1 with a detection limit of 7.2 × 10−6 mol L−1 and a Nernstian response of −58.1 ± 0.5 mV decade−1 towards l-MA within pH range 7.0-10.2. The potentiometric enantioselectivity coefficient () of this sensor was −4.0, indicating that the chiral salen Mn(III) complex-based electrode exhibited fairly good discrimination toward l-MA over counter isomer d-MA. The mechanism of chiral recognition for l-MA is discussed by using HF/STO-3G calculation method simulation.  相似文献

A rapid, sensitive and selective method is described for the determination of chromium(VI) in presence of 100-fold amounts of chromium(III) by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) in conjunction with coprecipitative preconcentration of its ethyl xanthate complex onto naphthalene. The solid mixture consisting of the chromium(VI) complex together with naphthalene is dissolved in 8.0 ml of dimethyl formamide (DMF) and chromium(VI) content was established by FAAS. Calibration graphs were rectilinear over the chromium(VI) concentration in the range 0-200 μg l−1. Five replicate determinations of 20 μg of chromium(VI) present in 1.0 l of sample solution gave a relative standard deviation of 3.1%. The detection limit corresponding to three times the standard deviation of the blank was found to be 0.5 μg l−1. The developed procedure has been successfully utilized for the estimation of chromium(VI), chromium(total) (after oxidation with bromate) and chromium(III) (by subtracting chromium(VI) content from chromium(total) value contents of several tannery industries.  相似文献

A polyvinyl chloride (PVC) based membrane sensor for cerium ions was prepared by employing N,N′-bis[2-(salicylideneamino)ethyl]ethane-1,2-diamine as an ionophore, oleic acid (OA) as anion excluder and o-nitrophenyloctyl ether (o-NPOE) as plasticizer. The plasticized membrane sensor exhibits a Nernstian response for Ce(III) ions over a wide concentration range (1.41 × 10−7 to 1.0 × 10−2 M) with a limit of detection as low as 8.91 × 10−8 M. It has a fast response time (<10 s) and can be used for 4 months. The sensor revealed a very good selectivity with respect to common alkali, alkaline earth and heavy metal ions. The response of the proposed sensor is independent of pH between 3.0 and 8.0. It was used as an indicator electrode in potentiometric titration of fluoride, carbonate and oxalate anions and determination of cerium in simulated mixtures.  相似文献

A tricarboyanine derivative (IRPP) is applied as a ratiometric near-infrared chemosensor for detecting trivalent chromium ions (Cr3+) in living cells. Upon the addition of Cr3+ to a solution of IRPP, large-scale shifts in the emission spectrum (from 755 nm to 561 nm) are observed. In the newly developed sensing system, these well-resolved emission peaks yield a sensing system that covers a linear range from 1.0 × 10−7 to 1.0 × 10−5 M with a detection limit of 2.5 × 10−8 M. The experimental results show the response behavior of IRPP towards Cr3+ is pH independent under neutral conditions (6.0–7.5). Most importantly, the fast response time (less than 3 min) and selectivity for Cr3+ over other common metal ions provide a strong argument for the use of this sensor in real world applications. As a proof of concept, the proposed chemosensor has been used to detect and quantify Cr3+ in river water samples and to image Cr3+ in living cells with encouraging results.  相似文献
