In this article, functional type a posteriori error estimates are presented for a certain class of optimal control problems with elliptic partial differential equation constraints. It is assumed that in the cost functional the state is measured in terms of the energy norm generated by the state equation. The functional a posteriori error estimates developed by Repin in the late 1990s are applied to estimate the cost function value from both sides without requiring the exact solution of the state equation. Moreover, a lower bound for the minimal cost functional value is derived. A meaningful error quantity coinciding with the gap between the cost functional values of an arbitrary admissible control and the optimal control is introduced. This error quantity can be estimated from both sides using the estimates for the cost functional value. The theoretical results are confirmed by numerical tests.  相似文献

In this work, new results on functional type a posteriori estimates for elliptic optimal control problems with control constraints are presented. More precisely, we derive new, sharp, guaranteed, and fully computable lower bounds for the cost functional in addition to the already existing upper bounds. Using both, the lower and the upper bounds, we arrive at two‐sided estimates for the cost functional. We prove that these bounds finally lead to sharp, guaranteed and fully computable upper estimates for the discretization error in the state and the control of the optimal control problem. First numerical tests are presented confirming the efficiency of the a posteriori estimates derived. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq 33: 403–424, 2017  相似文献

We propose and analyze an a posteriori error estimator for a partial differential equation (PDE)-constrained optimization problem involving a nondifferentiable cost functional, fractional diffusion, and control-constraints. We realize fractional diffusion as the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map for a nonuniformly PDE and propose an equivalent optimal control problem with a local state equation. For such an equivalent problem, we design an a posteriori error estimator which can be defined as the sum of four contributions: two contributions related to the approximation of the state and adjoint equations and two contributions that account for the discretization of the control variable and its associated subgradient. The contributions related to the discretization of the state and adjoint equations rely on anisotropic error estimators in weighted Sobolev spaces. We prove that the proposed a posteriori error estimator is locally efficient and, under suitable assumptions, reliable. We design an adaptive scheme that yields, for the examples that we perform, optimal experimental rates of convergence.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with recovery type a posteriori error estimates of fully discrete finite element approximation for general convex parabolic optimal control problems with pointwise control constraints. The time discretization is based on the backward Euler method. The state and the adjoint state are approximated by piecewise linear functions and the control is approximated by piecewise constant functions. We derive the superconvergence properties of finite element solutions. By using the superconvergence results, we obtain recovery type a posteriori error estimates. Some numerical examples are presented to verify the theoretical results.  相似文献

In this paper optimal control problems governed by elliptic semilinear equations and subject to pointwise state constraints are considered. These problems are discretized using finite element methods and a posteriori error estimates are derived assessing the error with respect to the cost functional. These estimates are used to obtain quantitative information on the discretization error as well as for guiding an adaptive algorithm for local mesh refinement. Numerical examples illustrate the behavior of the method.  相似文献

We propose a characteristic finite element discretization of evolutionary type convection-diffusion optimal control problems. Nondivergence-free velocity fields and bilateral inequality control constraints are handled. Then some residual type a posteriori error estimates are analyzed for the approximations of the control, the state, and the adjoint state. Based on the derived error estimators, we use them as error indicators in developing efficient multi-set adaptive meshes characteristic finite element algorithm for such optimal control problems. Finally, one numerical example is given to check the feasibility and validity of multi-set adaptive meshes refinements.  相似文献

We develop a duality theory for problems of minimization of a convex functional on a convex set and apply this theory to optimal control problems with non-differentiable functional and state as well as control constraints. The dual problem is sometimes found to be simpler than the primal problem. The equivalence of the primal and the dual problem is established for problems in which the functional is strongly convex. A posteriori error are also given for such problems.  相似文献

A new approach to the a posteriori analysis of distributed optimal control problems is presented. The approach is based on functional type a posteriori estimates that provide computable and guaranteed bounds of errors for any conforming approximations of a boundary value problem. Computable two-sided a posteriori estimates for the cost functional and estimates for approximations of the state and control functions are derived. Numerical results illustrate the efficiency of the approach. Bibliography: 35 titles. __________ Translated from Problemy Matematicheskogo Analiza, No. 35, 2007, pp. 3–14  相似文献

In this article, residual‐type a posteriori error estimates are studied for finite volume element (FVE) method of parabolic equations. Residual‐type a posteriori error estimator is constructed and the reliable and efficient bounds for the error estimator are established. Residual‐type a posteriori error estimator can be used to assess the accuracy of the FVE solutions in practical applications. In this paper, we discuss the a posteriori error estimate of the finite element approximation for the boundary control problems governed by the parabolic partial differential equations. Three different a posteriori error estimators are provided for the parabolic boundary control problems with the observations of the distributed state, the boundary state and the final state. It is proven that these estimators are reliable bounds of the finite element approximation errors, which can be used as the indicators of the mesh refinement in adaptive finite element methods.  相似文献

An adaptive least-squares mixed finite element method for Burgers equations is proposed and analyzed. A posteriori error estimates are obtained that are used to adaptively improve the algorithm. The least-squares functional is locally computed and is used as an effectively calculated a posteriori error estimate. The article is published in the original.  相似文献

In this paper we are concerned with a posteriori error estimates for the solution of some state constraint optimization problem subject to an elliptic PDE. The solution is obtained using an interior point method combined with a finite element method for the discretization of the problem. We will derive separate estimates for the error in the cost functional introduced by the interior point parameter and by the discretization of the problem. Finally we show numerical examples to illustrate the findings for pointwise state constraints and pointwise constraints on the gradient of the state.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a posteriori error analysis for hp finite element approximation of convex optimal control problems. We derive a new quasi-interpolation operator of Clément type and a new quasi-interpolation operator of Scott-Zhang type that preserves homogeneous boundary condition. The Scott-Zhang type quasi-interpolation is suitable for an application in bounding the errors in L2-norm. Then hp a posteriori error estimators are obtained for the coupled state and control approximations. Such estimators can be used to construct reliable adaptive finite elements for the control problems.  相似文献

Finite element exterior calculus (FEEC) has been developed over the past decade as a framework for constructing and analyzing stable and accurate numerical methods for partial differential equations by employing differential complexes. The recent work of Arnold, Falk, and Winther includes a well-developed theory of finite element methods for Hodge–Laplace problems, including a priori error estimates. In this work we focus on developing a posteriori error estimates in which the computational error is bounded by some computable functional of the discrete solution and problem data. More precisely, we prove a posteriori error estimates of a residual type for Arnold–Falk–Winther mixed finite element methods for Hodge–de Rham–Laplace problems. While a number of previous works consider a posteriori error estimation for Maxwell’s equations and mixed formulations of the scalar Laplacian, the approach we take is distinguished by a unified treatment of the various Hodge–Laplace problems arising in the de Rham complex, consistent use of the language and analytical framework of differential forms, and the development of a posteriori error estimates for harmonic forms and the effects of their approximation on the resulting numerical method for the Hodge–Laplacian.  相似文献

This article studies a posteriori error analysis of fully discrete finite element approximations for semilinear parabolic optimal control problems. Based on elliptic reconstruction approach introduced earlier by Makridakis and Nochetto [25], a residual based a posteriori error estimators for the state, co-state and control variables are derived. The space discretization of the state and co-state variables is done by using the piecewise linear and continuous finite elements, whereas the piecewise constant functions are employed for the control variable. The temporal discretization is based on the backward Euler method. We derive a posteriori error estimates for the state, co-state and control variables in the $L^\infty(0,T;L^2(\Omega))$-norm. Finally, a numerical experiment is performed to illustrate the performance of the derived estimators.  相似文献

In this paper, we derive an a posteriori error estimator of gradient recovery type for a model optimal control problem. We show that the a posteriori error estimator is equivalent to the discretization error in a norm of energy type on general meshes. Furthermore, when the solution of the control problem is smooth and the meshes are uniform, it is shown to be asymptotically exact.  相似文献

In this paper, we study adaptive finite element discretization schemes for an optimal control problem governed by elliptic PDE with an integral constraint for the state. We derive the equivalent a posteriori error estimator for the finite element approximation, which particularly suits adaptive multi-meshes to capture different singularities of the control and the state. Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the efficiency of a posteriori error estimator and to confirm the theoretical results.  相似文献
