Arylmethyl films have been grafted to glassy carbon surfaces and to pyrolyzed photoresist films (PPFs) by electrochemical oxidation of 1-naphthylmethylcarboxylate and 4-methoxybenzylcarboxylate. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) and electrochemistry were used to characterize the as-prepared films and to monitor changes induced by post-preparation treatments. Film thickness was measured by depth profiling using an AFM tip to remove film from the PPF surface. Surface coverage of electroactive modifiers was estimated from cyclic voltammetry, and monitoring the response of a solution-based redox probe at grafted surfaces gave a qualitative indication of changes in film properties. For preparation of the films, the maximum film thickness increased with the potential applied during grafting, and all films were of multilayer thickness. The apparent rate of electron transfer for the Fe(CN)(6)3-/Fe(CN)(6)4- couple was very low at as-prepared films. After film-grafted electrodes were transferred to pure acetonitrile-electrolyte solution and subjected to negative potential excursions, the response of the Fe(CN)(6)3-/Fe(CN)(6)4- couple changed and was consistent with faster electron-transfer kinetics, the film thickness decreased and the surface roughness increased substantially. Applying a positive potential to the treated film reversed changes in film thickness, but the voltammetric response of the Fe(CN)(6)3-/Fe(CN)(6)4- couple remained kinetically fast. After as-prepared films were subjected to positive applied potentials in acetonitrile-electrolyte solution, the apparent rate of electron transfer for the Fe(CN)(6)3-/Fe(CN)(6)4- couple remained very slow and the measured film thickness was the same or greater than that before treatment at positive potentials. Mechanisms are considered to explain the observed effects of applied potential on film characteristics.  相似文献

Electrochemically enhanced DNA detection was demonstrated by utilizing the couple of a synthesized ferrocene-terminated peptide nucleic acid (PNA) with a cysteine anchor and a sacrificial electron donor [Fe(CN)(6)](4-). DNA detection sensors were prepared by modifying a gold electrode surface with a mixed monolayer of the probe PNA and 11-hydroxy-1-undecanethiol (11-HUT), protecting [Fe(CN)(6)](4-) from any unexpected redox reaction. Before hybridization, the terminal ferrocene moiety of the probe was subject to a redox reaction due to the flexible probe structure and, in the presence of [Fe(CN)(6)](4-), the observed current was amplified based on regeneration of the ferrocene moiety. Hybridization decreased the redox current of the ferrocene. This occurred because hybridization rigidified the probe structure: the ferrocene moiety was then removed from the electrode surface, and the redox reaction of [Fe(CN)(6)](4-) was again prevented. The change in the anodic current before and after hybridization was enhanced 1.75-fold by using the electron donor [Fe(CN)(6)](4-). Sequence-specific detection of the complementary target DNA was also demonstrated.  相似文献

Polyelectrolyte multilayer thin films were prepared by an alternate deposition of poly(allylamine hydrochloride) (PAH) and anionic polysaccharides {carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) and alginic acid (AGA)} on the surface of a gold (Au) disk electrode, and the binding of ferricyanide [Fe(CN)(6)](3)(-) and hexaammine ruthenium ions [Ru(NH(3))(6)](3+) to the films was evaluated. Poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) was also employed as a reference polyanion bearing carboxylate side chains. A quartz-crystal microbalance study showed that PAH-CMC and PAH-AGA multilayer films grow exponentially as the number of depositions increases. The thicknesses of five bilayers of (PAH-CMC)(5) and (PAH-AGA)(5) films were estimated to be 150 +/- 20 and 90 +/- 15 nm, respectively, in the dry state. The PAH/polysaccharide multilayer film-coated Au electrodes exhibited a redox response to the [Fe(CN)(6)](3)(-) ion dissolved in solution, irrespective of the sign of the surface charge of the film, suggesting the high permeability of the films to the [Fe(CN)(6)](3)(-) ion. In contrast, the PAH-PAA film-coated Au electrodes exhibited a redox response only when the outermost surface of the film was covered with a positively charged PAH layer. However, the permeation of the [Ru(NH(3))(6)](3+) cation was severely suppressed for all of the multilayer films. It was possible to confine the [Fe(CN)(6)](3)(-) ion in the films by immersing the film-coated electrodes in a 1 mM [Fe(CN)(6)](3)(-) solution for 15 min. Thus, the [Fe(CN)(6)](3)(-)-confined electrodes exhibited a cyclic voltammetric response in the [Fe(CN)(6)](3)(-) ion-free buffer solution. The loading of the [Fe(CN)(6)](3)(-) ion in the films was higher when the surface charge of the film was positive and increased with increasing film thickness. It was also found that the [Fe(CN)(6)](3)(-) ion confined in the films serves as an electrocatalyst that oxidizes ascorbic acid in solution.  相似文献

A highly sensitive potentiometric flow injection determination of amylase activity was carried out, utilizing a redox reaction of hexacyanoferrate(III) in alkaline media with reducing sugar as product of the enzymatic hydrolysis reaction of starch with amylase. The analytical method is based on the potential change detection of a flow-through type redox electrode detector due to the composition change of a [Fe(CN)(6)](3-)-[Fe(CN)(6)](4-) potential buffer solution, which is caused by the redox reaction with the product of the enzymatic reaction. A linear relationship exists between the potential change (peak height) and the activity of amylase. Amylase of a wide activity range from 2.5x10(-2) to 1.2x10(-4) U ml(-1) can be determined by the changing the concentrations of the [Fe(CN)(6)](3-)-[Fe(CN)(6)](4-) potential buffer from 10(-3) to 10(-5) M. The lower detection limit of amylase activity is 6.0x10(-5) U ml(-1). The sampling rate and relative standard deviation are 15 h(-1) and 0.9% (n=5) for 3.8x10(-3) U ml(-1) of amylase. The present method was successfully applied to determine amylase activity in real samples (commercial digestive medicines) with an accuracy of 4% compared with analytical results obtained using the present method with those achieved using the conventional titration method.  相似文献

A series of bimetallic, trigonal bipyramidal clusters of type {[Co(N-N)(2)](3)[Fe(CN)(6)](2)} are reported. The reaction of {Co(tmphen)(2)}(2+) with [Fe(CN)(6)](3)(-) in MeCN affords {[Co(tmphen)(2)](3)[Fe(CN)(6)](2)} (1). The cluster can exist in three different solid-state phases: a red crystalline phase, a blue solid phase obtained by exposure of the red crystals to moisture, and a red solid phase obtained by desolvation of the blue solid phase in vacuo. The properties of cluster 1 are extremely sensitive to both temperature and solvent content in each of these phases. Variable-temperature X-ray crystallography; (57)Fe Mossbauer, vibrational, and optical spectroscopies; and magnetochemical studies were used to study the three phases of 1 and related compounds, Na{[Co(tmphen)(2)](3)[Fe(CN)(6)](2)}(ClO(4))(2) (2), {[Co(bpy)(2)](3)[Fe(CN)(6)](2)}[Fe(CN)(6)](1/3) (3), and {[Ni(tmphen)(2)](3)[Fe(CN)(6)](2)} (4). The combined structural and spectroscopic investigation of 1-4 leads to the unambiguous conclusion that 1 can exist in different electronic isomeric forms, {Co(III)(2)Co(II)Fe(II)(2)} (1A), {Co(III)Co(II)(2)Fe(III)Fe(II)} (1B), and {Co(II)(3)Fe(III)(2)} (1C), and that it can undergo a charge-transfer-induced spin transition (CTIST). This is the first time that such a phenomenon has been observed for a Co/Fe molecule.  相似文献

The electron-transfer reaction between bis(cyclopentadienyl)iron(II) ([Fe(II)(C5H5)2]) in nitrobenzene and a hexacyanoferrate redox couple ([Fe(II/III)(CN)6](4-/3-)) in water at the nitrobenzene / water interface was studied using normal pulse voltammetry. The voltammetric results indicate that the electron-transfer reaction takes place by way of a so-called ion-transfer (IT) mechanism, of which the forward and backward rate constants of the homogeneous electron-transfer reaction between [Fe(II/III)(C5H5)2](0/+) and [Fe(II/III)(CN)6](4-/3-) in the water phase have been determined. The electron-transfer reaction between [Fe(II)(C5H5)2] in 1,2-dichloroethane and [Fe(II/III)(CN)6](4-/3-) in water at the 1,2-dichloroethane / water interface was shown to also take place by the IT-mechanism.  相似文献

The electron transfer (ET) reaction between bis(cyclopentadienyl)iron(II) ([Fe(II)(C(5)H(5))2]) in 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCE) and hexacyanoferrate redox couple ([Fe(II/III)(CN)6](4-/3-)) in water (W) at the interface has been studied by using cyclic voltammetry. The voltammetric results can be explained well by a theoretical equation for the so-called IT-mechanism, in which a homogeneous ET reaction between [Fe(C(5)H(5))2] (partially distributed from 1,2-DCE) and [Fe(CN)6](3-) takes place in the W phase and the resultant [Fe(C(5)H(5))2]+ ion is responsible for current passage across the interface. The forward rate constant of the homogeneous ET reaction, [Fe(C(5)H(5))2] + [Fe(CN)6](3-) = [Fe(C(5)H(5))2]+ + [Fe(CN)6](4-) in W phase, k(f)(IT), was determined to be (2.9 +/- 2.2)x 10(10) M(-1) s(-1), which was in good agreement with k(f)(IT) = (3.2 +/- 2.0)x 10(10) M(-1) s(-1), which had been determined by using normal-pulse voltammetry.  相似文献

We report on the layer-by-layer assembly and electrochemical properties of 4-aminothiophenol (P-ATP) and ytterbium(III) trifluoromethanesulfonate hydrate (Yb(OTf)(3)) film supported on a gold surface. The fabricated film was characterised electrochemically using redox couples Fe(CN)(6)(3-/4-), complemented with imaging using atomic force microscopy (AFM). The electrocatalytic activity of the prepared electrodes was studied using cyclic and differential pulse voltammetries. Electrochemical measurements show that the P-ATP/Yb(OTf)(3) modified electrode has superb activity towards hydroquinone (HQ) oxidation and that there is a significant improvement in the electrode stability and reproducibility due to the covalent and coordination reactions.  相似文献

The reaction of cyanide, carbon monoxide, and ferrous derivatives led to the isolation of three products, trans- and cis-[Fe(CN)(4)(CO)(2)](2)(-) and [Fe(CN)(5)(CO)](3)(-), the first two of which were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The new compounds show self-consistent IR, (13)C NMR, and mass spectroscopic properties. The reaction of trans-[Fe(CN)(4)(CO)(2)](2)(-) with Et(4)NCN gives [Fe(CN)(5)(CO)](3)(-) via a first-order (dissociative) pathway. The corresponding cyanation of cis-[Fe(CN)(4)(CO)(2)](2)(-), which is a minor product of the Fe(II)/CN(-)/CO reaction, does not proceed at measurable rates. Methylation of [Fe(CN)(5)(CO)](3)(-) gave exclusively cis-[Fe(CN)(4)(CNMe)(CO)](2)(-), demonstrating the enhanced nucleophilicity of CN(-) trans to CN(-) vs. CN(-) trans to CO. Methylation has an electronic effect similar to that of protonation as determined electrochemically. We also characterized [M(CN)(3)(CO)(3)](n)(-) for Ru (n = 1) and Mn (n = 2) derivatives. The Ru complex, which is new, was prepared by cyanation of a [RuCl(2)(CO)(3)](2) solution.

在1mol/LNaCl中,内层的氧化电位Em=0.87V(vs.Ag/AgCl),外层为0.77V.

The hydrothermal reaction of K(3)[Fe(CN)(6)], CuCl(2), and 2,2'-bipyridine (bipy) resulted in the formation of a 2D cyanide-bridged heterobimetallic Fe(II)-Cu(I) complex, [Fe(bipy)(2)(CN)(4)Cu(2)], 1. Working in the same conditions, but using 2,2'-bipyrimidine (bpym) instead of bipy and methanol as solvent, we obtained the homometallic Cu(I) complex [Cu(2)(CN)(2)(bpym)](2), 2. The structure of 1 consists of cyanide-bridged Fe(II)-Cu(I) layers, constructed from alternately fused 6 (Fe(2)Cu(4)) and 10 (Fe(2)Cu(8)) metal-membered centrosymmetric rings, in which copper(I) and iron(II) ions exhibit distorted trigonal planar and octahedral cooordination environments, respectively. The formation of 1 can be explained by assuming that, under high pressure and temperature, iron(III) and copper(II) ions are reduced with the simultaneous and/or subsequent substitution of four cyanide ligands by two bipy molecules in the ferricyanide anions. It is interesting to note that 1 is the first cyanide-bridged heterobimetallic complex prepared by solvothermal methods. The structure of 2 consists of neutral 2D honeycomb layers constructed from fused Cu(6)(CN)(4)(bpym)(2) rings, in which copper(I) atoms exhibit distorted tetrahedral geometry. The isolation of 1 and 2, by using K(3)[Fe(CN)(6)] as starting material, demonstrates that hydrothermal chemistry can be used not only to prepare homometallic materials but also to prepare cyanide-bridged bimetallic materials. The temperature dependence of chi(M)T and M?ssbauer measurements for 1 reveal the existence of a high spin <--> low spin equilibrium involving the Fe(II) ions.  相似文献

This study demonstrates a new electrochemical impedance spectroscopic (EIS) method for measurements of the changes in membrane permeability during the process of cell anoxia. Madin-Darby canine kidney (MDCK) cells were employed as the model cells and were cultured onto gelatin-modified glassy carbon (GC) electrodes. EIS measurements were conducted at the MDCK/gelatin-modified GC electrodes with Fe(CN)(6)(3-/4-) as the redox probe. The anoxia of the cells grown onto electrode surface was induced by the addition of carbonycyanide p-(trifluoromethoxy) phenylhydrazone (FCCP) into the cell culture, in which the MDCK/gelatin-modified GC electrodes were immersed for different times. The EIS results show that the presence of FCCP in the cell culture clearly decreases the charge-transfer resistance of the Fe(CN)(6)(3-/4-) redox probe at the MDCK/gelatin-modified GC electrodes, and the charge-transfer resistance decreases with increasing time employed for immersing the MDCK/gelatin-modified GC electrodes into the cell culture containing FCCP. These results demonstrate that the EIS method could be used to monitor the changes in the cell membrane permeability during the FCCP-induced cell anoxia. To simulate the EIS system, a rational equivalent circuit was proposed and the values of ohmic resistance of the electrolyte, charge-transfer resistance and constant phase elements for both the gelatin and the cell layers are given with the fitting error in an acceptable value. This study actually offers a new and simple approach to measuring the dynamic process of cell death induced by anoxia through monitoring the changes in the cell membrane permeability.  相似文献

Redox properties of undoped 5 nm diamond nanoparticles   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
This paper demonstrates the promoting effects of 5 nm undoped detonation diamond nanoparticles on redox reactions in solution. An enhancement in faradaic current for the redox couples Ru(NH(3))(6)(3+/2+) and Fe(CN)(6)(4-/3-) was observed for a gold electrode modified with a drop-coated layer of nanodiamond (ND), in comparison to the bare gold electrode. The ND layer was also found to promote oxygen reduction. Surface modification of the ND powders by heating in air or in a hydrogen flow resulted in oxygenated and hydrogenated forms of the ND, respectively. Oxygenated ND was found to exhibit the greatest electrochemical activity and hydrogenated ND the least. Differential pulse voltammetry of electrode-immobilised ND layers in the absence of solution redox species revealed oxidation and reduction peaks that could be attributed to direct electron transfer (ET) reactions of the ND particles themselves. It is hypothesised that ND consists of an insulating sp(3) diamond core with a surface that has significant delocalised pi character due to unsatisfied surface atoms and C[double bond, length as m-dash]O bond formation. At the nanoscale surface properties of the particles dominate over those of the bulk, allowing ET to occur between these essentially insulating particles and a redox species in solution or an underlying electrode. We speculate that reversible reduction of the ND may occur via electron injection into available surface states at well-defined reduction potentials and allow the ND particles to act as a source and sink of electrons for the promotion of solution redox reactions.  相似文献

The generation of metal cyanide ions in the gas phase by laser ablation of M(CN)(2) (M = Co, Ni, Zn, Cd, Hg), Fe(III)[Fe(III)(CN)(6)] x xH(2)O, Ag(3)[M(CN)(6)] (M = Fe, Co), and Ag(2)[Fe(CN)(5)(NO)] has been investigated using Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry. Irradiation of Zn(CN)(2) and Cd(CN)(2) produced extensive series of anions, [Zn(n)(CN)(2n+1)](-) (1 < or = n < or = 27) and [Cd(n)(CN)(2n+1)](-) (n = 1, 2, 8-27, and possibly 29, 30). Cations Hg(CN)(+) and [Hg(2)(CN)(x)](+) (x = 1-3), and anions [Hg(CN)(x)](-) (x = 2, 3), are produced from Hg(CN)(2). Irradiation of Fe(III)[Fe(III)(CN)(6)] x xH(2)O gives the anions [Fe(CN)(2)](-), [Fe(CN)(3)](-), [Fe(2)(CN)(3)](-), [Fe(2)(CN)(4)](-), and [Fe(2)(CN)(5)](-). When Ag(3)[Fe(CN)(6)] is ablated, [AgFe(CN)(4)](-) and [Ag(2)Fe(CN)(5)](-) are observed together with homoleptic anions of Fe and Ag. The additional heterometallic complexes [AgFe(2)(CN)(6)](-), [AgFe(3)(CN)(8)](-), [Ag(2)Fe(2)(CN)(7)](-), and [Ag(3)Fe(CN)(6)](-) are observed on ablation of Ag(2)[Fe(CN)(5)(NO)]. Homoleptic anions [Co(n)(CN)(n+1)](-) (n = 1-3), [Co(n)(CN)(n+2)](-) (n = 1-3), [Co(2)(CN)(4)](-), and [Co(3)(CN)(5)](-) are formed when anhydrous Co(CN)(2) is the target. Ablation of Ag(3)[Co(CN)(6)] yields cations [Ag(n)(CN)(n-1)](+) (n = 1-4) and [Ag(n)Co(CN)(n)](+) (n = 1, 2) and anions [Ag(n)(CN)(n+1)](-) (n = 1-3), [Co(n)(CN)(n-1)](-) (n = 1, 2), [Ag(n)Co(CN)(n+2)](-) (n = 1, 2), and [Ag(n)Co(CN)(n+3)](-) (n = 0-2). The Ni(I) species [Ni(n)(CN)(n-1)](+) (n = 1-4) and [Ni(n)(CN)(n+1)](-) (n = 1-3) are produced when anhydrous Ni(CN)(2) is irradiated. In all cases, CN(-) and polyatomic carbon nitride ions C(x)N(y)(-) are formed concurrently. On the basis of density functional calculations, probable structures are proposed for most of the newly observed species. General structural features are low coordination numbers, regular trigonal coordination stereochemistry for d(10) metals but distorted trigonal stereochemistry for transition metals, the occurrence of M-CN-M and M(-CN-)(2)M bridges, addition of AgCN to terminal CN ligands, and the occurrence of high spin ground states for linear [M(n)(CN)(n+1)](-) complexes of Co and Ni.  相似文献

We report the synthesis, characterization, and spectroscopic properties of a family of trinuclear cyano-bridged mixed-valent compounds, trans-[Ru(II)L(4)[NCFe(III)(CN)(5)](2)](4-), trans-[Ru(II)L(4)[CNFe(III)(CN)(5)](2)](4-), and cis-[Ru(II)(bpy)(2)[NCFe(III)(CN)(5)](2)](4-) (L = pyridine, 4-tert-butylpyridine, and 4-methoxypyridine). Tetraphenylphosphonium salts of complexes trans-[Ru(II)L(4)[NCFe(III)(CN)(5)](2)](4-) (L = pyridine and 4-tert-butylpyridine) crystallize in the space groups C2 and P2(1)/c, respectively, and show a linear arrangement of the metal units and an almost completely eclipsed configuration of the equatorial ligands. An intense band (epsilon approximately 2000-9000 M(-1) cm(-1)) is observed for all of the compounds in the NIR region of the spectrum, not present in the separated building blocks, and strongly solvent dependent. We assign it as a metal-to-metal charge transfer (MMCT) from the Ru(II) to the terminal Fe(III) moieties in the context of a simplified three-center model. The electrochemistry measurements reveal a splitting of the redox waves for the reduction of the iron centers for some of the complexes with a trans configuration between the metal units, ranging from 100 to 260 mV, depending on the substituting pyridine ligand and the solvent, suggesting long-range metal-metal interactions. These interactions are rationalized in terms of the energy matching between the pi-symmetry orbitals of the metals and the cyanide bridge. The one- and two-electron reduced species derived from compounds trans-[Ru(II)L(4)[NCFe(III)(CN)(5)](2)](4-,5-,6-) were characterized in methanolic solution. The mixed-valent Fe(II)-Ru(II)-Fe(III) system exhibits an intense red shifted band in the NIR region of the spectrum, arising from the superposition of MMCT bands from the central Ru(II) to the terminal Fe(III) fragments and from the 1 nm distant Fe(II) to Fe(III) centers.  相似文献

In this paper, we report the electrochemical study of a family of mononuclear Fe(III) complexes [Fe(BMPA)Cl(3)] 1, [Fe(MPBMPA)Cl(3)] 2, [Fe(PBMPA)Cl(2)]3 and [Fe(PABMPA)Cl(2)](ClO(4)) 4, where the ligand BMPA is bis-(2-pyridylmethyl)amine, and MPBMPA, PBMPA and PABMPA are the N-methylpropanoate, N-propanoate and N-propanamide BMPA-derivatives, respectively. It was possible to verify the influence of the different ligands on the redox properties of the complexes and from this to classify the complexes according to their Lewis acidity through the Fe(III)/Fe(II) redox process, resulting in the following decreasing order in CH(3)CN solution: 4> 2> 1> 3. The effect of the solvents CH(3)CN and DMSO on their electrochemical properties was also determined. Furthermore, we investigated the reactivity of the electrochemically-generated Fe(II) complexes toward dioxygen and of the Fe(III) complexes toward superoxide through cyclic voltammetry. All the complexes reacted with dioxygen and superoxide in DMSO solution. Redox processes attributed to oxygenated species were observed in a more cathodic potential than those of the original compounds. According to the data, the new species Fe(II)-O(2) converts itself to Fe(III)-O(2)(-), which presents a new redox wave attributed to the process Fe(III)-O(2)(-) + e(-) --> Fe(II)-O(2)(-). The same species Fe(III)-O(2)(-) is formed from the reaction of the Fe(III) form of the complexes and KO(2).  相似文献

Recent work has shown that cyanide ligation increases the redox potentials of Fe(4)S(4) clusters, enabling the isolation of [Fe(4)S(4)(CN)4]4-, the first synthetic Fe(4)S(4) cluster obtained in the all-ferrous oxidation state (Scott, T. A.; Berlinguette, C. P.; Holm, R. H.; Zhou, H.-C. Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. U.S.A. 2005, 102, 9741). The generality of reduced cluster stabilization has been examined with MoFe(3)S(4) clusters. Reaction of single-cubane [(Tp)MoFe(3)S(4)(PEt(3))3]1+ and edge-bridged double-cubane [(Tp)2Mo(2)Fe(6)S(8)(PEt(3))4] with cyanide in acetonitrile affords [(Tp)MoFe(3)S(4)(CN)3]2- (2) and [(Tp)2Mo(2)Fe(6)S(8)(CN)4]4- (5), respectively. Reduction of 2 with KC(14)H(10) yields [(Tp)MoFe(3)S(4)(CN)3]3- (3). Clusters were isolated in approximately 70-90% yields as Et(4)N+ or Bu(4)N+ salts; clusters 3 and 5 contain all-ferrous cores, and 3 is the first [MoFe(3)S(4)]1+ cluster isolated in substance. The structures of 2 and 3 are very similar; the volume of the reduced cluster core is slightly larger (2.5%), a usual effect upon reduction of cubane-type Fe(4)S(4) and MFe(3)S(4) clusters. Redox potentials and 57Fe isomer shifts of [(Tp)MoFe(3)S(4)L3]2-,3- and [(Tp)2Mo(2)Fe(6)S(8)L(4)]4-,3- clusters with L = CN-, PhS-, halide, and PEt3 are compared. Clusters with pi-donor ligands (L = halide, PhS) exhibit larger isomer shifts and lower (more negative) redox potentials, while pi-acceptor ligands (L = CN, PEt3) induce smaller isomer shifts and higher (less-negative) redox potentials. When the potentials of 3/2 and [(Tp)MoFe(3)S(4)(SPh)3]3-/2- are compared, cyanide stabilizes 3 by 270 mV versus the reduced thiolate cluster, commensurate with the 310 mV stabilization of [Fe(4)S(4)(CN)4]4- versus [Fe(4)S(4)(SPh)4]4- where four ligands differ. These results demonstrate the efficacy of cyanide stabilization of lower cluster oxidation states. (Tp = hydrotris(pyrazolyl)borate(1-)).  相似文献

The reaction of [Fe(III)L(CN)(3)](-) (L being bpca = bis(2-pyridylcarbonyl)amidate, pcq = 8-(pyridine-2-carboxamido)quinoline) or [Fe(III)(bpb)(CN)(2)](-) (bpb = 1,2-bis(pyridine-2-carboxamido)benzenate) ferric complexes with Mn(III) salen type complexes afforded seven new bimetallic cyanido-bridged Mn(III)-Fe(III) systems: [Fe(pcq)(CN)(3)Mn(saltmen)(CH(3)OH)]·CH(3)OH (1), [Fe(bpca)(CN)(3)Mn(3-MeO-salen)(OH(2))]·CH(3)OH·H(2)O (2), [Fe(bpca)(CN)(3)Mn(salpen)] (3), [Fe(bpca)(CN)(3)Mn(saltmen)] (4), [Fe(bpca)(CN)(3)Mn(5-Me-saltmen)]·2CHCl(3) (5), [Fe(pcq)(CN)(3)Mn(5-Me-saltmen)]·2CH(3)OH·0.75H(2)O (6), and [Fe(bpb)(CN)(2)Mn(saltmen)]·2CH(3)OH (7) (with saltmen(2-) = N,N'-(1,1,2,2-tetramethylethylene)bis(salicylideneiminato) dianion, salpen(2-) = N,N'-propylenebis(salicylideneiminato) dianion, salen(2-) = N,N'-ethylenebis(salicylideneiminato) dianion). Single crystal X-ray diffraction studies were carried out for all these compounds indicating that compounds 1 and 2 are discrete dinuclear [Fe(III)-CN-Mn(III)] complexes while systems 3-7 are heterometallic chains with {-NC-Fe(III)-CN-Mn(III)} repeating units. These chains are connected through π-π and short contact interactions to form extended supramolecular networks. Investigation of the magnetic properties revealed the occurrence of antiferromagnetic Mn(III)···Fe(III) interactions in 1-4 while ferromagnetic Mn(III)···Fe(III) interactions were detected in 5-7. The nature of these Mn(III)···Fe(III) magnetic interactions mediated by a CN bridge appeared to be dependent on the Schiff base substituent. The packing is also strongly affected by the nature of the substituent and the presence of solvent molecules, resulting in additional antiferromagnetic interdinuclear/interchain interactions. Thus the crystal packing and the supramolecular interactions induce different magnetic properties for these systems. The dinuclear complexes 1 and 2, which possess a paramagnetic S(T) = 3/2 ground state, interact antiferromagnetically in their crystal packing. At high temperature, the complexes 3-7 exhibit a one-dimensional magnetic behavior, but at low temperature their magnetic properties are modulated by the supramolecular arrangement: a three-dimensional antiferromagnetic order with a metamagnetic behavior is observed for 3, 4, and 7, and Single-Chain Magnet properties are detected for 5 and 6.  相似文献

The use of 1,3,5-triaminocyclohexane (tach) as a capping ligand in generating metal-cyanide cage clusters with accessible cavities is demonstrated. The precursor complexes [(tach)M(CN)(3)] (M = Cr, Fe, Co) are synthesized by methods similar to those employed in preparing the analogous 1,4,7-triazacyclononane (tacn) complexes. Along with [(tach)Fe(CN)(3)](1)(-), the latter two species are found to adopt low-spin electron configurations. Assembly reactions between [(tach)M(CN)(3)] (M = Fe, Co) and [M'(H(2)O)(6)](2+) (M' = Ni, Co) in aqueous solution afford the clusters [(tach)(4)(H(2)O)(12)Ni(4)Co(4)(CN)(12)](8+), [(tach)(4)(H(2)O)(12)Co(8)(CN)(12)](8+), and [(tach)(4)(H(2)O)(12)Ni(4)Fe(4)(CN)(12)](8+), each possessing a cubic arrangement of eight metal ions linked through edge-spanning cyanide bridges. This geometry is stabilized by hydrogen-bonding interactions between tach and water ligands through an intervening solvate water molecule or bromide counteranion. The magnetic behavior of the Ni(4)Fe(4) cluster indicates weak ferromagnetic coupling (J = 5.5 cm(-)(1)) between the Ni(II) and Fe(III) centers, leading to an S = 6 ground state. Solutions containing [(tach)Fe(CN)(3)] and a large excess of [Ni(H(2)O)(6)](2+) instead yield a trigonal pyramidal [(tach)(H(2)O)(15)Ni(3)Fe(CN)(3)](6+) cluster, in which even weaker ferromagnetic coupling (J = 1.2 cm(-)(1)) gives rise to an S = (7)/(2) ground state. Paralleling reactions previously performed with [(Me(3)tacn)Cr(CN)(3)], [(tach)Cr(CN)(3)] reacts with [Ni(H(2)O)(6)](2+) in aqueous solution to produce [(tach)(8)Cr(8)Ni(6)(CN)(24)](12+), featuring a structure based on a cube of Cr(III) ions with each face centered by a square planar [Ni(CN)(4)](2)(-) unit. The metal-cyanide cage differs somewhat from that of the analogous Me(3)tacn-ligated cluster, however, in that it is distorted via compression along a body diagonal of the cube. Additionally, the compact tach capping ligands do not hinder access to the sizable interior cavity of the molecule, permitting host-guest chemistry. Mass spectrometry experiments indicate a 1:1 association of the intact cluster with tetrahydrofuran (THF) in aqueous solution, and a crystal structure shows the THF molecule to be suspended in the middle of the cluster cavity. Addition of THF to an aqueous solution containing [(tach)Co(CN)(3)] and [Cu(H(2)O)(6)](2+) templates the formation of a closely related cluster, [(tach)(8)(H(2)O)(6)Cu(6)Co(8)(CN)(24) superset THF](12+), in which paramagnetic Cu(II) ions with square pyramidal coordination are situated on the face-centering sites. Reactions intended to produce the cubic [(tach)(4)(H(2)O)(12)Co(8)(CN)(12)](8+) cluster frequently led to an isomeric two-dimensional framework, [(tach)(H(2)O)(3)Co(2)(CN)(3)](2+), exhibiting mer rather than fac stereochemistry at the [Co(H(2)O)(3)](2+) subunits. Attempts to assemble larger edge-bridged cubic clusters by reacting [(tach)Cr(CN)(3)] with [Ni(cyclam)](2+) (cyclam = 1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane) complexes instead generated extended one- or two-dimensional solids. The magnetic properties of one of these solids, two-dimensional [(tach)(2)(cyclam)(3)Ni(3)Cr(2)(CN)(6)]I(2), suggest metamagnetic behavior, with ferromagnetic intralayer coupling and weak antiferromagnetic interactions between layers.  相似文献
