An analytical method was developed for the simultaneous determination of thiocyanate and iodide by reversed‐phase liquid chromatography with UV detection using imidazolium ionic liquids as mobile phase additives. The chromatographic behaviors of the two anions on a C18 column were studied and compared with four types of reagents including imidazolium ionic liquids, pyridinium ionic liquids, 4‐aminophenol hydrochloride and tetrabutylammonium as mobile phase additives. The effects of the concentrations of imidazolium ionic liquids, organic solvents and detection wavelength on separation and detection of the anions were investigated. The role of ionic liquids, retention rules and mechanisms were discussed. The separation of the anions was performed on the C18 reserved‐phase column using acetonitrile‐0.3 mmol/L 1‐amyl‐3‐methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (10:90, v/v) as mobile phase, with column temperature of 35°C, flow rate of 1 mL/min and detection wavelength of 210 nm. Under these conditions, the two anions can be completely separated within 6 min. The limits of detection were 0.05 mg/L. The method was applied for the determination of thiocyanate and iodide in ionic liquid samples and iodide drugs, and the spiked recoveries ranged from 97 to 101%. The method is simple, accurate and meets the requirements of quantitative analysis for thiocyanate and iodide.  相似文献

The effects of several ionic liquids (ILs) as mobile‐phase additives in HPLC with fluorescence and UV–Vis detection for the determination of six heterocyclic aromatic amines were evaluated using two different C18 stationary phases with moderate silanol activity. The studied ILs were 1‐butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate, 1‐hexyl‐3‐methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate and 1‐methyl‐3‐octylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate. The optical behaviour of heterocyclic aromatic amines in presence of ILs was studied and the silanol‐suppressing potency of ILs was evaluated for the two stationary phases studied. Several chromatographic parameters were evaluated in the presence or absence of ILs, or using triethylamine, the most common mobile‐phase additive. The best results were achieved using 1 mM 1‐butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate as mobile‐phase additive and NovaPak® column. In these conditions and with 18% of ACN in the mobile phase, analytical performance of the chromatographic methods using fluorescence and UV–Vis were evaluated, obtaining good precision in all cases (RSD lower than 6.6%) and low LOD (0.001–0.147 μg/mL with UV–Vis and 0.001–0.006 ng/mL with fluorescence detection).  相似文献

A novel microextraction method, termed microwave‐assisted ionic liquid/ionic liquid dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction, has been developed for the rapid enrichment and analysis of triazine herbicides in fruit juice samples by high‐performance liquid chromatography. Instead of using hazardous organic solvents, two kinds of ionic liquids, a hydrophobic ionic liquid (1‐hexyl‐3‐methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate) and a hydrophilic ionic liquid (1‐butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate), were used as the extraction solvent and dispersion agent, respectively, in this method. The extraction procedure was induced by the formation of cloudy solution, which was composed of fine drops of 1‐hexyl‐3‐methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate dispersed entirely into sample solution with the help of 1‐butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate. In addition, an ion‐pairing agent (NH4PF6) was introduced to improve recoveries of the ionic liquid phase. Several experimental parameters that might affect the extraction efficiency were investigated. Under the optimum experimental conditions, the linearity for determining the analytes was in the range of 5.00–250.00 μg/L, with the correlation coefficients of 0.9982–0.9997. The practical application of this effective and green method is demonstrated by the successful analysis of triazine herbicides in four juice samples, with satisfactory recoveries (76.7–105.7%) and relative standard deviations (lower than 6.6%). In general, this method is fast, effective, and robust to determine triazine herbicides in juice samples.  相似文献

An ionic liquid foam floatation coupled with ionic liquid dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction method was proposed for the extraction and concentration of 17‐α‐estradiol, 17‐β‐estradiol‐benzoate, and quinestrol in environmental water samples by high‐performance liquid chromatography with fluorescence detection. 1‐Hexyl‐3‐methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate was applied as foaming agent in the foam flotation process and dispersive solvent in microextraction. The introduction of the ion‐pairing and salting‐out agent NH4PF6 was beneficial to the improvement of recoveries for the hydrophobic ionic liquid phase and analytes. Parameters of the proposed method including concentration of 1‐hexyl‐3‐methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate, flow rate of carrier gas, floatation time, types and concentration of ionic liquids, salt concentration in samples, extraction time, and centrifugation time were evaluated. The recoveries were between 98 and 105% with relative standard deviations lower than 7% for lake water and well water samples. The isolation of the target compounds from the water was found to be efficient, and the enrichment factors ranged from 4445 to 4632. This developing method is free of volatile organic solvents compared with regular extraction. Based on the unique properties of ionic liquids, the application of foam floatation, and dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction was widened.  相似文献

The beneficial effects of several ionic liquids (ILs) as mobile phase additives in high-performance liquid chromatography with electrochemical detection for the determination of six heterocyclic aromatic amines (HAs) have been evaluated for first-time. The studied ionic liquids were 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (BMIm-BF4), 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (HMIm-BF4) and 1-methyl-3-octylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (MOIm-BF4). Several chromatographic parameters have been evaluated in the presence or absence of ILs, or using ammonium acetate as the most common mobile phase additive, with three different C18 stationary phases. The effect of the acetonitrile content was also addressed. In general, best resolution, lower peak-widths (up to 72.1% lower) and lower retention factors are obtained when using ILs rather than ammonium acetate as mobile phase additives. The main improvement was obtained in the baseline noise, being 360% less noisy for BMIm-BF4, 310% for HMIm-BF4, and 227% for MOIm-BF4, when compared to ammonium acetate at +1000 mV. Different chromatographic methods using the best conditions for each IL were also evaluated and compared. Finally, the best chromatographic conditions using 1 mM of BMIm-BF4 as mobile phase additive, the Nova-Pak® C18 column, 19% (v/v) of acetonitrile content in the mobile phase, and +1000 mV in the ECD, have been applied for the chromatographic analysis of six HAs contained in meat-based infant foods. The whole extraction method of meat-based infant foods using focused microwave-assisted extraction and solid-phase extraction has also been optimized. Extraction efficiencies up to 89% and detection limits ranged between 9.30 and 0.165 ng g−1 have been obtained under optimized conditions.  相似文献

Ionic liquids are a type of salts that are liquid at low temperature (<100℃). Because of their some special properties, they have been widely used as new “green solvents” for many chemical reactions and liquid-liquid extraction in the past several years. In this paper, a new method for the separation of nucleotides is developed and the essential feature of the method is that 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium salts are used as mobile phase additives, resulting in a baseline separation of nucleotides without need of gradient elution and need of organic solvent addition as currently used in RP-HPLC. This study shows the potential application of ionic liquids as mobile phase additives in reversed-phase liquid chromatograohy.  相似文献

Laser flash photolysis is applied to study the recombination reaction of lophyl radicals in ionic liquids in comparison with dimethylsulfoxide as an example of a traditional organic solvent. The latter exhibits a similar micropolarity as the ionic liquids. The ionic liquids investigated are 1‐butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide ( 1 ), 1‐hexyl‐3‐methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate ( 2 ), and 1‐butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium tetafluoroborate ( 3 ). The recombination of the photolytic generated lophyl radicals occur significantly faster in the ionic liquids than expected from their macroscopic viscosities and is a specific effect of these ionic liquids. On the other hand, this reaction can be compared with the macroscopic viscosity in the case of dimethylsulfoxide. Activation parameters obtained for lophyl radical recombination suggest different, anion‐dependent mechanistic effects. Quantum chemical calculations based on density functional theory provide a deeper insight of the molecular properties of the lophyl radical and its precursor. Thus, excitation energies, spin densities, molar volumes, and partial charges are calculated. Calculations show a spread of spin density over the three carbon atoms of the imidazolyl moiety, while only low spin density is calculated for the nitrogens.  相似文献

Highly hydrophilic compounds belonging to biogenic amines were analysed in the reversed-phase system, modified with the addition of ionic liquids: 1-ethyl-3-methyl-imidazolium hexafluorophosphate (EMIM PF(6)) and chaotropic salt NaPF(6) on Discovery HS C18 column at acidic conditions. The effect of the additives concentration and the presence of organic solvent on the analytes' chromatographic parameters such as retention factor, tailing factor and theoretical plates number were all determined. On the basis of k versus ionic liquid concentration in aqueous-organic mobile phase with constant amount of phosphate buffer, retention mechanism was studied. It was established that the presence of organic solvent with low dielectric constant and ionic liquid with both chaotropic ions allows achieving typical Langmuir shape of this relationship. Investigated mobile phase additives are comparable according to efficiency and selectivity towards biogenic amines analysis. However, the sensitivity was found to be better for the eluent system modified with chaotropic salt.  相似文献

A reversed phase high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) method for simultaneous determination of fangchinoline (FAN) and tetrandrine (TET) in Stephania tetrandra S. Moore was established by using 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate as the mobile phase additives in this paper. Four types of 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium-based ionic liquids (ILs) were used as additives of the mobile phase to separate FAN and TET by RP-HPLC. The effects of the length of the alkyl group on the imidazolium ring and its counterion, the concentrations of IL and the pH of the mobile phase, which influenced the chromatographic behaviors of FAN and TET, were investigated in detail. The linearity, sensitivity, accuracy and repeatability of the proposed method were also investigated. The probable mechanism of the separation with ILs as the mobile phase additives was explored and discussed.  相似文献

The anionic part of ionic liquids can provide additional interactions during chromatographic separations. In this work, the chromatographic separation performance of a silica column functionalized with 1‐propyl‐3‐methylimidazolium chloride ionic liquid was improved by in situ anion‐exchange from chloride anions to dodecyl sulfonate anions and dodecylbenzene sulfonate anions. The separation performances of these ionic liquid functionalized phases were investigated and compared with each other using polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, phthalates, parabens, and phenols as model compounds. Results indicated that the new columns presented a better chromatographic separation than the original one. This was ascribed retention mechanism from organic anions. The introduction of dodecyl sulfonate anions increased the hydrophobicity of stationary phase. Furthermore, the phenyl groups of dodecylbenzene sulfonate anions could provide an enhanced selectivity to aromatic compounds such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons by π–π interactions. Analysis repeatability of the new columns was satisfactory (RSD of retention time, 0.10–0.40%; RSD of peak area, 0.66–0.84%).  相似文献

Ionic liquids have been widely used as green alternative mobile phase additives to shield the residuals silanols groups and modify the stationary/mobile phase HPLC systems. The present study aimed to evaluate the performance of the ionic liquid 1‐ethyl‐3‐methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([EMIM][BF4]) in producing extrapolated logkw indices suitable to substitute for octanol–water logP or logD values. The effect of [EMIM][BF4] was investigated for a set of basic and neutral drugs using two different columns, BDS and ABZ+. [EMIM][BF4] was added simply alone or in combination with n‐octanol and was compared with the conventional masking agent n‐decylamine. [EMIM][BF4] reduced the retention by suppressing silanophilic interactions, althoug to a lower extent than n‐decylamine. Addition of n‐octanol further decreased the retention by shielding silanol sites on BDS and/or interacting with polar groups through hydrogen bonding on ABZ+. Logkw/logD7.4 relationships proved moderate compared with those derived upon addition of n‐decylamine. They were considerably improved upon the introduction of protonated fraction F+ in the correlation, reflecting ion pair formation between the chaotropic anion [BF4] and the protonated basic compounds. In this aspect, the ionic liquid [EMIM][BF4], although efficient as a masking agent, cannot be recommended as mobile phase additive to reproduce octanol–water partitioning. In this work 12 different ionic liquids (ILs) have been used added as co‐binders in the preparation of modified carbon paste electrodes (IL–CPEs) used for the voltammetric analysis of dopamine in Britton‐Robinson buffer. The ionic liquids studied were selected based on three main criteria: (1) increasing chain length of alkyl substituents (studying 1‐ethylimidazolium and ethyl, propyl, butyl, hexyl and decylmethylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide ionic liquids); (2) nature of the counter ion (dicyanamide, bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide and hexafluorophosphate) in 1‐butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium ionic liquids; and (3) cation ring structures (1‐butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium, 1‐butyl‐1‐methylpiperidinium, 1‐butyl‐1‐methylpyrrolidinium and 1‐butyl‐3‐methylpyridinium) in bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide or hexafluorophosphate (1‐butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium or 1‐butyl‐3‐methylpyridinium as cations) ionic liquids. The use of IL as co‐binders in IL–CPE results in a general enhancement of both the sensitivity and the reversibility of dopamine oxidation. In square wave voltammetry experiments, the peak current increased up to a 400 % when 1‐ethyl‐3‐methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide was used as co‐binder, as compared to the response found with the unmodified CPE. Experimental data provide evidence that electrostatic and steric effects are the most important ones vis‐à‐vis these electrocatalytic effects on the anodic oxidation of dopamine on IL–CPE. The relative hydrophilicity of dicyanamide anions reduced the electrocatalytic effects of the corresponding ionic liquids, while the use of 1‐ethyl‐3‐methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate or 1‐ethyl‐3‐methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide (two relatively small and highly hydrophobic ionic liquids) as co‐binders in IL–CPE resulted in the highest electrocatalytic activity among all of the IL–CPE studied.  相似文献

As an organic salt, ionic liquids are widely used as new solvent media. In this paper, three positional isomers, such as o-amino benzoic acid, m-amino benzoic acid, and p-amino benzoic acid are separated with four different ionic liquids as additives to the mobile phase using reversed-phase (RP) high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Amino benzoic acids are biologically active substances; the p-isomer is present in a group of water-soluble vitamins and is widely known as a sunscreen agent. The ionic liquids used are 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate, 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate, 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium methylsulfate, and 1-octyl-3-methylimidazolium methylsulfate. The effects of the length of the alkyl group on the imidazolium ring and its counterion, the concentrations of the ionic liquid, and the effect of the pH of the mobile phase on the retention factor of the amino benzoic acid isomers are studied. Separation with the ionic liquid in the eluent was better than the separation without the ionic liquid. The pH mainly affected the retention and elution order of the solutes in RP-HPLC.  相似文献

For the isomers of amino benzoic acid, including o-, m-, p-amino benzoic acid, the beneficial effects of using the ionic liquid, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([BMIm][BF4]), as mobile phase additives on retention behavior and separation were investigated. Chromatographic separation of the o-, m-, p-amino benzoic acid was performed on a reversed-phase C18 column by ultraviolet detection at 245 nm. The effects of several chromatographic parameters, concentrations and pH values of [BMIm][BF4] solutions, methanol concentration and length of alkyl chain on different ionic liquids, on the separation and determination of the isomers were evaluated. The optimized chromatographic conditions were established using an aqueous 0.5 μmol/L [BMIm][BF4] solution (pH 3.0)/methanol (40:60, v/v) as mobile phase without need of gradient elution, with separation of three amino benzoic acids achieved within four min. The calibration curve showed good linearity over the tested range of 2 mg/L to 120 mg/L for the three isomers with a correlation coefficients of 0.9999. The recoveries of the three amino benzoic acids of spiked components were between 99.8% and 100%. The method has been successfully applied to the determination of p-amino benzoic acid in the pharmaceutical, Bromine Mitag Procaine Injection.  相似文献

We studied the influences of imidazolium‐based ionic liquids as additives in low ionic strength phosphate solution on releasing DNA from polyamidoamine dendrimer‐grafted silica nanoparticle surfaces. The effects of the side‐chain length of the imidazolium group, the anion and the concentration of the ionic liquid, the generation of the dendrimer, and the pH and the concentration of the release solution were investigated. It was found that addition of 4 mM 1‐hexyl‐3‐methylimidazolium bromide to 5 mM phosphate at pH 11 could markedly promote the desorption of DNA fragments, with a desorption efficiency of 99.0%. Compared with the conventional strategies employing high‐salt solutions or elevated temperature for acceptable recoveries, the method described here enabled quick release of DNA fragments that permitted direct, accurate analysis, and further treatment without desalting.  相似文献

The chromatographic behavior of 8 ionic liquids - 7 homologues of 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium and 4-methyl-N-butylpyridinium - has been investigated with a strong cation exchange adsorbent. In particular, the dependence of the retention properties of these solutes on mobile phase composition, pH, and buffer concentration was evaluated with the aim of optimizing and improving the selectivity and retention of solute separation. While using the SCX stationary phase, several interactions occurred with varying strengths, depending on the mobile phase composition. Cation exchange, nonspecific hydrophobic interactions, and adsorption chromatography behavior were observed. Reversed phase chromatography occurred at low concentrations of acetonitrile, electrostatic and adsorption interactions at higher organic modifier concentrations. Elevated buffer concentrations lowered the retention factors without affecting the selectivity of ionic liquids. Obtained results were further compared to the chromatographic behaviour of ionic liquids in the reversed phase system. All analyzed ionic liquids follow reversed-phase behavior while being separated. Much lower selectivity in the range of highly hydrophilic compounds is obtained. This suggests preferred use of ion chromatography for separation and analysis of compounds below 4 carbon atoms in the alkyl side chain.  相似文献

Silica-based stationary phases are commonly used in liquid chromatography, but their surface acidity causes known problems, especially when separating basic compounds. Deleterious effects of free silanols are not fully removed by standard prevention procedures consisting in adding alkylamines or other amino quenchers to the eluents. We found that ionic liquids of the imidazolium tetrafluoroborate class, added to mobile phases at concentrations of 0.5-1.5% (v/v), blocked silanols and provided excellent thin-layer chromatographic separations of strongly basic drugs which were otherwise not eluted, even with neat acetonitrile as the mobile phase. The silanol suppressing potency of imidazolium tetrafluoroborates was demonstrated to markedly exceed that of the standard mobile phase additives, like triethylamine, dimethyloctylamine and ammonia. The proposed new mobile phase additives were also demonstrated to provide reliable lipophilicity parameters of base drug analytes as determined by gradient mode of high-performance liquid chromatography. By applying the readily available and environmentally friendly imidazolium tetrafluoroborate ionic liquids, simple and efficient means of improvement of liquid chromatographic analysis of organic bases were elaborated.  相似文献

The behavior of acids (citric acid, nitric acid, oxalic acid, tartaric acid) as a mobile phase and imidazolium ionic liquids (the bromides, tetrafluoroborates and hexafluorophosphates of 1‐ethyl, 1‐butyl, and 1‐hexyl‐3‐methylimidazolium) as additives in ion exchange chromatography for cations (Na+, K+, Mg2+, Ca2+) separation were studied. The results showed that nitric acid and 1‐hexyl‐3‐methyl‐imidazolium hexafluorophosphate offered the most interesting features in the separation of cations, such as lower retention time and better resolution. The selected optimal conditions were achieved by adding 0.10 mM 1‐hexyl‐3‐methyl‐imidazolium hexafluorophosphate in 4.0 mM HNO3 mobile phase for the separation of four cations with the flow rate of 0.9 mL/min at room temperature (25°C). The linear regression equations of Na+, K+, Mg2+, Ca2+ were = 4.4763c  + 0.0209, = 3.8903c  – 0.0087, = 6.3974c  – 0.0173, and = 7.601c  – 0.0339 and the limits of detection of Na+, K+, Mg2+, Ca2+ were 0.296, 4.98, 0.0970, and 1.22 μg/L, respectively. In this work, four cations in samples were successfully detected.  相似文献

The silica-based stationary phases with favorable physical characteristics are the most popular in liquid chromatography. However, there are several problems with silica-based materials: severe peak tailing in the chromatography of basic compounds, non-reproducibility for the same chemistry columns, and limited pH stability. Ionic liquids (ILs) as mobile phase components can reduce peak tailing by masking residual free silanol groups. The chromatographic behavior of some alkaloids from different classes was studied on C18, phenyl, and pentafluorophenyl columns with different kinds and concentrations of ionic liquids as additives to aqueous mobile phases. Ionic liquids with different alkyl substituents on different cations or with different counterions as eluent additives were investigated. The addition of ionic liquids has great effects on the separation of alkaloids: decrease in band tailing, increase in system efficiency, and improved resolution. The retention, separation selectivity, and sequence of alkaloid elution were different when using eluents containing various ILs. The increase of IL concentration caused an increase in silanol blocking, thus conducted to decrease the interaction between alkaloid cations and free silanol groups, and caused a decrease of alkaloids retention, improvement of peak symmetry, and increase of theoretical plate number in most cases. The effect of ILs on stationary phases with different properties was also examined. The different properties of stationary phases resulted in differences in analyte retention, separation selectivity, peak shape, and system efficiency. The best shape of peaks and the highest theoretical plate number for most investigated alkaloids in mobile phases containing IL was obtained on pentafluorophenyl (PFP) phase.  相似文献
