A class of the asymptotically Euclidian space-times is shown to exist for which the Schwarzschild mass is equal to zero. The coordinate atlases of these space-times satisfy two additional conditions: k (-gg 0k )=0 and ik 0 0g ik - ik k 0g 0i =0. In aT-orthogonal metricgs 2=g 00 dt 2 -g dx dx these conditions take a simple form: 0(detg )=0 and (0 g )(0 g )=0.  相似文献

A variety of rigorous inequalities for critical exponents is proved. Most notable is the low-temperature Josephson inequalitydv +2 2–. Others are 1 1 +v, 1 1 , 1,d 1 + 1/ (for d),dv, 3 + (for d), 4 , and 2m 2m+2 (form 2). The hypotheses vary; all inequalities are true for the spin-1/2 Ising model with nearest-neighbor ferromagnetic pair interactions.NSF Predoctoral Fellow (1976–1979). In a recent note Barber showed, for a spin-1/2 Ising system with ferromagnetic pair interactions, that some critical exponents of the triplet order parameter i j k are the same as those of the magnetization i . Here we prove such results for all odd correlations and dispense with the requirement of pair interactions. We also prove that the critical temperatureT c , defined as the temperature below which there is a spontaneous magnetization, is for fixed even spin interactionsJ e independent of the way in which the odd interactionsJ o approach zero from above. This is achieved by using only the simplest, Griffiths-Kelley-Sherman (GKS), inequalities, which apply to the most general many-spin, ferromagnetic interactions.Research supported in part by NSF Grant #MPS 75-20638.  相似文献

The contact process is a model of spread of an infectious disease. Combining with the result of ref. 1, we prove that the critical exponents take on the mean-field values for sufficiently high dimensional nearest-neighbor models and for sufficiently spread-out models with d>4:() c as c and ()( c)–1 as c, where () and () are the spread probability and the susceptibility of the infection respectively, and c is the critical infection rate. Our results imply that the upper critical dimension for the contact process is at most 4.  相似文献

Nonlinear effects stabilizing the convective instabilities excited in an anisothermic plasma (T etT i) at the plasma boundaryaVs/ Bi) are discussed. Waves having in the linear theory (Part I) the highest growth rates ( Bi) saturate at first. Being excited by a small part of slow plasma electrons ( zTe) only, they saturate at a relatively low level. Further, surface waves with lower frequencies and higher phase velocities ( ph/kz) become dominant and a broadening of the plasma boundary occurs. For their saturation nonlinear interaction is more important than the quasilinear effects. During the time interval of several Bi –1 the longest surface waves withk yBi/Vs, BikyVs and ph Te saturate at the absolutely highest level. The plasma boundary broadens in the meanwhile up toaV s/Bi. The wave energy is comparable to the whole energy connected with the longitudinal motion of the initially thermal electrons inside this boundary layer. The wave amplitude is large enough to trap the initially cold ions belonging to this layer and heat them up to energies comparable to those of the electron component. The heating process occurs again within several Bi –1 and the Larmor radius of the ions is then comparable toV s/Bi. By analyzing the Bethe-Salpeter equation for even ()2 models we show that for weak coupling the mass spectrum is discrete and of finite multiplicity below 2m. Moreover on even states of energy less than 4(m–) we show that theS matrix is unitary. Herem is the physical mass and =()0 as 0. Our results rely essentially only on a simple assumption about the analyticity of the Bethe-Salpeter kernel which has been verified for weak coupling. For the interaction 4, (/m o 2 1) we show that there are no even bound states of energy less than 4(m–).Work supported in part by NSF, Grant MPS 74-13252  相似文献

In this paper we present the results of a search for the charmed strange baryon c + in the final states 0++K and ++. The experiment was performed using the magnetic spectrometer BIS-2 with a hydrogen target located in the neutron beam of the Serpukhov accelerator. A narrow peak in the 0++K state is observed at a mass of 2440 and possibly also of 2310 MeV/c2, corresponding to signals for the c + 0++K and c + 0++K (0 0) decays respectively. Localised configurations of the free electromagnetic field are constructed, possessing properties of massive, spinning, relativistic particles. In an inertial frame, each configuration travels in a straight line at constant speed, less than the speed of lightc, while slowly spreading. It eventually decays into pulses of radiation travelling at speedc. Each configuration has a definite rest mass and internal angular momentum, or spin. Each can be of electric or magnetic type, according as the radial component of the magnetic or electric field vanishes in the rest frame, and each has an antiparticle. Any such configuration, of electric or magnetic type, is characterized in part by a set of labels (, 0, ,l, m), where 0 is the mean of the angular frequencies of the plane waves making up the configuration, is the variance of those frequencies, is a positive constant with dimensions of action, andl, m are angular momentum quantum numbers withl a positive integer andm an integer such that ml. We present and discuss the derivation of a nonlinear nonlocal integrodifferential equation for the macroscopic time evolution of the conserved order parameter (r, t) of a binary alloy undergoing phase segregation. Our model is ad-dimensional lattice gas evolving via Kawasaki exchange with respect to the Gibbs measure for a Hamiltonian which includes both short-range (local) and long-range (nonlocal) interactions. The nonlocal part is given by a pair potential dJ(|x–y|), >0 x and y in d, in the limit 0. The macroscopic evolution is observed on the spatial scale –1 and time scale –2, i.e., the density (r, t) is the empirical average of the occupation numbers over a small macroscopic volume element centered atr=x. A rigorous derivation is presented in the case in which there is no local interaction. In a subsequent paper (Part II) we discuss the phase segregation phenomena in the model. In particular we argue that the phase boundary evolutions, arising as sharp interface limits of the family of equations derived in this paper, are the same as the ones obtained from the corresponding limits for the Cahn-Hilliard equation.  相似文献

This article presents a Pauli-Dirac matrix approach to Clifford Algebras. It is shown that the algebra C2 is generated by two Pauli matrices i2 and i3; C3 is generated by the three Pauli matrices 1, 2, 3; C4 is generated by four Dirac matrices 0, 1, 2, 3 and C5 is generated by five Dirac matrices i0, i1, i2, i3, i5. The higher dimensional anticommuting matrices which generate arbitrarily high order Clifford algebras are given in closed form. The results obtained with this Clifford algebra approach are compared with the vector product method which was described in a recent article [Found. Phys. 10, 531–553 (1980) by Poole, Farach and Aharonov] and with the Dirac, Rashevskii and Ramakrishnan methods of matrix generation.Supported by the National Science Foundation under Grant ISP-80-11451.  相似文献

The applicability of (K ,) - and (K , N)-reactions on13,14C and14,15N nuclei to the study of -transitions in primary and daughter -hypernuclei is discussed. The intensity of -deexcitation of 13C state |S 12C(15·11 MeV; 1+1): 1/2+ has been shown to be comparable with the intensity of baryon decay. It has been proposed that some posets of quantum logic could be embedded into lattices in order to recover the lattice structure avoiding the introduction of ad hoc axioms. We consider here the embedding s of any posetS into the complete lattice s of its closed ideals (normal embedding ofS) and show that s can be characterized (up to a lattice isomorphism) either by means of a density property or by means of a minimality property. Both of these suggest that the normal embedding satisfies some intuitive conditions which make it preferable with respect to other possible embeddings ofS. We consider the poset of all the effects associated to yes-no experiments and briefly comment on the application of the normal embedding in this case. We performed point-contact and tunneling measurements on the organic superconductors -(BEDT-TTF)2I3 and -(BEDT-TTF)2IAuI, in the normal and superconducting states. The point-contact measurement in the normal state provides the Eliashberg function 2()F (). This function has maxima at 4 and 15 mV, as well as a sharp peak at 1 mV which seems to indicate a very soft phonon strongly coupled to the electrons. The measurements in the superconducting state provide the superconducting gap, which for the tunneling measurements has a value 2/kB Tc4, just slightly above the BCS value.  相似文献

We show that (under some mild conditions) theintermediate scattering function F(q,t)=E 0 (qd) is completely monotonic int (E 0 denotes double expectation w.r.t. walk and field). We also show that thedynamic structure factor S(q, w)=2 0 cos(t)F(q, t) exists for 0 and is strictly positive. Ind=1, 2 it diverges as 1/||1/2, resp. –ln(||), in the limit 0; ind3 its limit value is strictly larger than expected from hydrodynamics. This and further results support the conclusion that the hydrodynamic region is limited to smallq and small such that ||D |q|2, whereD is the diffusion constant.  相似文献
