We are concerned with the discretization of semilinear parabolic optimization problems subject to constraints on the first derivative of the solution of the PDE. Constructing sequences of feasible controls for the dG(0)-cG(1) discretization of the problem and relying on a quadratric growth condtion, we show convergence orders as temporal and spatial mesh tends to zero. We study optimal control problems for semilinear parabolic equations subject to control constraints and for semilinear elliptic equations subject to control and state constraints. We quote known second-order sufficient optimality conditions (SSC) from the literature. Both problem classes, the parabolic one with boundary control and the elliptic one with boundary or distributed control, are discretized by a finite difference method. The discrete SSC are stated and numerically verified in all cases providing an indication of optimality where only necessary conditions had been studied before.  相似文献

We propose and study a numerical method for time discretization of linear and semilinear integro-partial differential equations that are intermediate between diffusion and wave equations, or are subdiffusive. The method uses convolution quadrature based on the second-order backward differentiation formula. Second-order error bounds of the time discretization and regularity estimates for the solution are shown in a unified way under weak assumptions on the data in a Banach space framework. Numerical experiments illustrate the theoretical results.

We study the superconvergence property of fully discrete finite element approximation for quadratic optimal control problems governed by semilinear parabolic equations with control constraints. The time discretization is based on difference methods, whereas the space discretization is done using finite element methods. The state and the adjoint state are approximated by piecewise linear functions and the control is approximated by piecewise constant functions. First, we define a fully discrete finite element approximation scheme for the semilinear parabolic control problem. Second, we derive the superconvergence properties for the control, the state and the adjoint state. Finally, we do some numerical experiments for illustrating our theoretical results.  相似文献

In this paper we discuss continuation properties and asymptotic behavior of -regular solutions to abstract semilinear parabolic problems in case when the nonlinear term satisfies critical growth conditions. A necessary and sufficient condition for global in time existence of -regular solutions is given. We also formulate sufficient conditions to construct a piecewise -regular solutions (continuation beyond maximal time of existence for -regular solutions). Applications to strongly damped wave equations and to higher order semilinear parabolic equations are finally discussed. In particular global solvability and the existence of a global attractor for in is achieved in case when a nonlinear term f satisfies a critical growth condition and a dissipativeness condition. Similar result is obtained for a 2mth order semilinear parabolic initial boundary value problem in a Hilbert space .  相似文献

In this article, we study numerical approximation for a class of singularly perturbed parabolic (SPP) convection-diffusion turning point problems. The considered SPP problem exhibits a parabolic boundary layer in the neighborhood of one of the sides of the domain. Some a priori bounds are given on the exact solution and its derivatives, which are necessary for the error analysis. A numerical scheme comprising of implicit finite difference method for time discretization on a uniform mesh and a hybrid scheme for spatial discretization on a generalized Shishkin mesh is proposed. Then Richardson extrapolation method is applied to increase the order of convergence in time direction. The resulting scheme has second-order convergence up to a logarithmic factor in space and second-order convergence in time. Numerical experiments are conducted to demonstrate the theoretical results and the comparative study is done with the existing schemes in literature to show better accuracy of the proposed schemes.  相似文献

In this paper, a priori error estimates for space–time finite element discretizations of optimal control problems governed by semilinear parabolic PDEs and subject to pointwise control constraints are derived. We extend the approach from Meidner and Vexler (SIAM Control Optim 47(3):1150–1177, 2008; SIAM Control Optim 47(3):1301–1329, 2008) where linear-quadratic problems have been considered, discretizing the state equation by usual conforming finite elements in space and a discontinuous Galerkin method in time. Error estimates for controls discretized by piecewise constant functions in time and cellwise constant functions in space are derived in detail and we explain how error estimate for further discretization approaches, e.g., cellwise linear discretization in space, the postprocessing approach from Meyer and R?sch (SIAM J Control Optim 43:970–985, 2004), and the variationally discrete approach from Hinze (J Comput Optim Appl 30:45–63, 2005) can be obtained. In addition, we derive an estimate for a setting with finitely many time-dependent controls.  相似文献

Linear and semilinear second-order parabolic equations are considered. For these equations, we give a posteriori error estimates in the maximum norm that improve upon recent results in the literature. In particular it is shown that logarithmic dependence on the time step size can be eliminated. Semidiscrete and fully discrete versions of the backward Euler and of the Crank-Nicolson methods are considered. For their full discretizations, we use elliptic reconstructions that are, respectively, piecewise-constant and piecewise-linear in time. Certain bounds for the Green’s function of the parabolic operator are also employed.  相似文献

A semilinear reaction-diffusion problem with a nonlocal boundary condition is studied. This paper presents a new and very easy implementable numerical algorithm for computations. This is based on a suitable linearization in time and on the principle of linear superposition. Any method for the space discretization (FEM was taken in this analysis) can be chosen. The derived algorithm is implicit and it does not need any iteration scheme to get a solution with the nonlocal boundary condition. Stability analysis has been performed and the optimal error estimates have been derived. Numerical results have been compared with other known techniques.  相似文献

We investigate existence and uniqueness of solutions to semilinear parabolic and elliptic equations in bounded domains of the n-dimensional hyperbolic space (n?3). LpLq estimates for the semigroup generated by the Laplace-Beltrami operator are obtained and then used to prove existence and uniqueness results for parabolic problems. Moreover, under proper assumptions on the nonlinear function, we establish uniqueness of positive classical solutions and nonuniqueness of singular solutions of the elliptic problem; furthermore, for the corresponding semilinear parabolic problem, nonuniqueness of weak solutions is stated.  相似文献

We propose a hybrid numerical scheme to discretize a class of singularly perturbed parabolic reaction–diffusion problems with robin-boundary conditions on an equidistributed grid. The hybrid difference scheme is developed by using a modified backward difference scheme in time, a combination of the cubic spline and exponential spline difference scheme in space. The proposed scheme uses a cubic spline difference scheme for the discretization of robin-boundary conditions. For the time discretization of the problem, we use the standard uniform mesh while a layer adapted equidistributed grid is generated for the spatial discretization. By equidistributing a curvature-based monitor function, the spatial adaptive grid is able to capture the presence of parabolic boundary layers without using any prior information about the solution. Parameter uniform error estimates are derived to illustrate an optimal convergence of first-order in time and second-order in space for the proposed discretization. The accuracy of the proposed scheme is confirmed by the numerical experiments that underpin the theoretical analysis.  相似文献

In this paper optimal control problems governed by elliptic semilinear equations and subject to pointwise state constraints are considered. These problems are discretized using finite element methods and a posteriori error estimates are derived assessing the error with respect to the cost functional. These estimates are used to obtain quantitative information on the discretization error as well as for guiding an adaptive algorithm for local mesh refinement. Numerical examples illustrate the behavior of the method.  相似文献

A class of optimal control problems for a parabolic equation with nonlinear boundary condition and constraints on the control and the state is considered. Associated approximate problems are established, where the equation of state is defined by a semidiscrete Ritz-Galerkin method. Moreover, we are able to allow for the discretization of admissible controls. We show the convergence of the approximate controls to the solution of the exact control problem, as the discretization parameter tends toward zero. This result holds true under the assumption of a certain sufficient second-order optimality condition.Dedicated to the 60th birthday of Lothar von Wolfersdorf  相似文献

The paper deals with semilinear parabolic initial-boundary value problems whereat the coefficient g(x, t) of the time derivative may vanish at a set of zero measure. Existence of a local weak solution of the problem is proved by means of semidiscretization in time. In order to omit a growth limitation for the nonlinearity we derive uniform boundedness of the approximates in L (QT). Moreover, the weak solution turns out to be continuous even in the points of degeneration.  相似文献

Mixed-integer optimal control problems require taking discrete and continuous control decisions for the optimization of a dynamical system. We consider dynamics governed by partial differential equations of evolution type and assess the problem by relaxation and rounding strategies. For this solution approach, we present a priori estimates for semilinear evolutions on Banach spaces concerning the optimality gap. The theoretical results show that the gap can be made arbitrary small. We demonstrate the numerical performance of the approach on benchmark problems of parabolic type motivated from thermal manufacturing and of hyperbolic type motivated from traffic flow control. We consider fully discrete finite element approximations of the forced Fisher equation that models the dynamics of gene selection/migration for a diploid population with two available alleles in a multidimensional habitat and in the presence of an artificially introduced genotype. Finite element methods are used to effect spatial discretization and a nonstandard backward Euler method is used for the time discretization. Error estimates for the fully discrete approximations are derived by applying the Brezzi-Rappaz-Raviart theory for the approximation of a class of nonlinear problems. The approximation schemes and error estimates are applicable under weaker regularity hypotheses than those that are typically assumed in the literature. The algorithms and analyses, although presented in the concrete setting of the forced Fisher equation, also apply to a wide class of semilinear parabolic partial differential equations.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a weak coupled semilinear parabolic system with general Wentzell boundary condition. We prove the well-posedness of the problem and derive different conditions in terms of the powers of the nonlinear terms under which the global solution exists and finite time blow-up occurs.  相似文献

We solve an abstract parabolic problem in a separable Hilbert space, using the projection-difference method. The spatial discretization is carried out by the Galerkin method and the time discretization, by the Crank–Nicolson scheme. On assuming weak solvability of the exact problem, we establish effective energy estimates for the error of approximate solutions. These estimates enable us to obtain the rate of convergence of approximate solutions to the exact solution in time up to the second order. Moreover, these estimates involve the approximation properties of the projection subspaces, which is illustrated by subspaces of the finite element type.  相似文献
