A slurry sampling method has been developed for the determination of Pb in marine plankton by ETAAS using a freshwater plankton certified reference material (CRM 414). Slurries were prepared in 1–3% m/v range with 1% v/v HNO3 by ultrasonic agitation for 5 min. The effects of several chemical modifiers, including Ir(NO3)2, Mg(NO3)2, Pd(NO3)2, Pd(NO3)2 + Mg(NO3)2, and Mg(NO3)2 + NH4H2PO4, were investigated for the stabilization of Pb during thermal pretreatment. Lead in slurries was effectively stabilized up to 1000 °C with Ir, Pd and Pd + Mg modifiers among which Pd + Mg provided the best results with complete atomization at 1850 °C. Firings in the presence of Ir were, problematic due to ash formation inside the atomizer. Water, dilute HNO3 and HF were examined as suspension medium. Dilute HNO3 (1–2% v/v) proved to be advantageous over water as it afforded extraction of Pb from plankton almost quantitatively in 5 min agitation. Hydrofluoric acid was the least suitable medium. Increasing HF concentration up to 5% v/v resulted in inaccuracy and substantial background absorption. Fast-heating furnace method provided comparable accuracy and precision to that of conventional-heating in slurries of CRM 414. Detection limits and characteristic masses were, respectively, 0.49 μg L− 1 and 32 pg for the conventional method and 0.62 μg L− 1 and 37 pg for the fast-heating method. However, fast-heating approach suffered from distorted peaks at high temperatures and incomplete pyrolysis of matrix at lower temperatures. Analysis of marine plankton samples for Pb was performed by using the conventional furnace program. The results showed a high correlation with those obtained by solution ICP-MS. Differences were statistically insignificant within 95% confidence interval.  相似文献

An interference-free, fast, and simple method is proposed for Pb determination in environmental solid samples combining slurry sampling and electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry. Samples were ground to an adequate particle size and slurries were prepared by weighing from 0.05 g to 0.20 g of dry sediment, adding nitric acid, and a solution containing 0.1% Triton X-100. Ultrasonic agitation was employed for slurries homogenization. Analytical variables including acid pre-treatment conditions, particle size, slurry stability, temperature program of the graphite furnace, and type and concentration of the chemical modifier were studied. The undesirable effects of potential non-specific and spectral interferences on Pb signal were also taken into account. Continuum source and self-reversal methods for background correction were evaluated and compared. For calibration, synthetic acid solutions of Pb were employed. Calibration was linear within the range 1-30 μg L−1 and 5-30 μg L−1 when the 217.0 nm and 283.3 nm analytical lines were used. Correlation coefficients of 0.9992 and 0.9997 were obtained. Using optimized conditions, limits of detection (3σ) of 0.025 μg g−1 and 0.1 μg g−1 were achieved for the 217.0 nm and 283.3 nm analytical lines, respectively. The method was successfully applied to the determination of lead in soil, contaminated soil, municipal sludge, and sediment samples. The accuracy was assessed by the analysis of two certified reference materials: municipal sludge (QC MUNICIPAL SLUDGE A) and lake sediment (TRAP-LRM from IJS).  相似文献

Partial least squares modeling as a powerful multivariate statistical tool applied to spectrophotometric simultaneous determination of cobalt, copper, and nickel in aqueous solutions. The concentration range for cobalt, copper and nickel were 0.4-2.6, 0.6-3.4, 0.5-5.5 ppm, respectively. The experimental calibration set was composed with 36 sample solutions using a mixture design for three component mixtures. The absorption spectra were recorded from 470 to 600 nm. The effect of pH on the sensitivity and selectivity was studied according to net analyte signal (NAS). The values of root mean square difference (RMSD) for cobalt, copper and nickel using partial least squares (PLS) were 0.0192, 0.0263 and 0.0446 ppm, respectively. The effects of various cations and anions were investigated. The method was used to determination of cobalt, copper and nickel in two sample alloys based on copper, nickel and cobalt (known as cunico) and based on cobalt, nickel and iron (known as conife).  相似文献

A procedure for copper and nickel determination in scalp hair by solid sampling electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometric method was described. The hair samples (0.02 to 0.4 mg) were inserted directly on the platforms of solid sampling autosampler. The effects of pyrolysis temperature, atomization temperature, the amount of sample as well as addition of a modifier (Pd/Mg) and/or auxiliary digesting agents (hydrogen peroxide and nitric acid) and/or a surfactant (Triton X-100) on the determination of copper and nickel by solid sampling atomic absorption spectrometry were investigated. After optimization of parameters, the average recoveries of copper in two different certified reference hair samples were 105.7 and 97.6%. The recoveries of nickel in the both certified reference hair samples were in 95.2 and 96.4%. The limits of detection (3σ, N = 10) for copper and nickel were 22 ng/g and 35 ng/g, respectively. Heterogenous distribution of analyte in microscale for segmental analysis could be determined which is important to know that analyte quantity and time of poisoning of a person was exposed. For this purpose, 0.5 cm of pieces were cut along one or a few close strands and analyzed by solid sampling. This process could not be performed by wet-digestion method because 50 mg of sample is needed each time. Finally, the method was applied for the determination of copper and nickel concentrations in the hairs of different persons.  相似文献

This work describes the method development for the simultaneous determination of Cd and Fe using the main resonance line of Cd at 228.802 nm and a secondary Fe line at 228.725 nm, and high-resolution continuum source electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (HR-CS ET AAS). Two certified reference materials and two ‘real’ samples of industrial and domestic sewage sludge have been analyzed as slurries prepared in a mixture of HF and HNO3. The simultaneous determination has been performed using a short temperature program of only 30 s, without a pyrolysis stage and with two atomization stages, at 1300 °C and 2300 °C, taking into consideration the significantly different thermal characteristics of Cd and Fe. Structured background, which is likely due to the presence of one or more diatomic molecules, including SiO, has been detected. However, there has been no spectral overlap between molecular bands and the atomic lines of Cd and Fe, making possible the determination to be carried out using only automatic correction for continuous background. Calibration against aqueous standards lead to good agreement between certified or informed values and the determined values, at a statistical confidence level of 95%; recovery tests were performed for real samples, resulting in recoveries ranging from 90 to 105%. Detection limits of 0.03 and 90 µg g 1 for Cd and Fe, respectively, have been obtained, which are adequate for the purpose.  相似文献

The comparative determination of lead in plant samples by two atomic spectrometric techniques is reported. At first, slurry sampling electrothermal atomisation atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS) was applied. The results obtained were compared with those found after a wet digestion procedure by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) or ETAAS. The accuracy of the studied methods was checked using a certified reference material (CL???1 CRM, Cabbage Leaves). The recovery of lead was 90% for slurry sampling ETAAS, and 86.6% for liquid sampling ETAAS. The advantages of the slurry sampling ETAAS method are the simplicity of sample preparation and very good sensitivity.  相似文献

In the present paper, a new procedure using Pyrocatechol Violet (PCV) for the determination of tin in copper-based alloys is proposed. The use of HEDTA as masking agent allowed tin to be determined in the presence of large amounts of copper, without any separation procedure. The method is more selective than previous methods. Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and Tween-20 are used to increase the stability of the system.

The method can be applied directly to an acidic solution of Sn(IV) in the range 2.0–60.0 μg with a final volume of 50 ml. The pH is adjusted to 2.0 ± 0.2 with glycine buffer and, after 30 min, the absorbance is measured at 660 nm. Al(III), Cd(II), Co(II), Mg(II), Ca(II), Mn(II), Ni(II) and Pb(II) do not interfere at the 500 mg level; 20 000 μg of Cu(II) and 400 μg of NaCl can be present. The interference at 100 μg of Fe(III) can be masked with ascorbic acid. Bi(III), Sb(V), Ti(IV), Mo(VI), EDTA, tartrate, citrate and iodide interfere. The proposed method was used for tin determination in several copper-based alloys and a comparison of the analytical results with certified values indicates that the procedure provides accurate and precise results.  相似文献

The slurry technique was applied to the determination of Ni, Cr and Co in wheat flour by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS). The influence of the graphite furnace temperature programme was optimized. Optimum sensitivity was obtained by using a mixture of 15% HNO3–10% H2O2 as suspended medium for a 3% w/v slurry in the determination of Ni; lower concentrations of HNO3 were necessary for the determination of Co and Cr (viz. 5 and 10%). The precision of direct analyses of the slurries was improved by using mechanical agitation between measurements; thus, the RSD of the measurements was ca. 5% for repeatability. The direct slurry sampling (SS) technique is suitable for the determination of Ni and Cr in wheat flour samples at levels of 150–450 and 30–72 ng g−1, respectively, as it provides results similar to those obtained by ashing the sample. However, the typically low level of Co in these samples precluded its determination by the proposed method (the study was made in an SRM spiked wholemeal flour), at least in those samples that were contaminated with elevated concentrations of the metal (viz. more than 90 ng of Co per g of flour). The method provides a relative standard deviation of 6, 8, and 4% for Ni, Cr, and Co, respectively.  相似文献

The partial least squares (PLS) applied to the simultaneous determination of the divalent ions of copper, nickel, cobalt and zinc based on the formation of their complexes with 2-carboxy-2′-hydroxy-5′-sulfoformazyl benzene (zincon). The absorption spectra were recorded from 515 through 750 nm. The effect of pH on sensitivity and the selectivity was studied in the range 3.0-10.0 and the pH 8.0 was choused according to net analyte signal (NAS) as a function of pH. The concentration range for Cu2+, Ni2+, Co2+and Zn2+ in solution calibration sets were 0-2.6, 0-4.6, 0-3.0 and 0-4.92 ppm, respectively. The root mean squares differences (RMSD) for copper, nickel, cobalt and zinc were 0.0181, 0.0488, 0.0309 and 0.0463, respectively.  相似文献

A method for the determination of arsenic in slurries of mussel tissue using palladium-magnesium nitrate as modifier was optimized. The slurry was stabilized by a 0.015% (v/v) of Triton X-100. To achieve complete mineralization the slurries were ashed at 480 °C for 10s in an air flow (50 ml/min) and at 1200 °C for 15s in an argon flow (300 ml/min) in the presence of Pd—Mg(NO3)2 as modifier. The optimum atomization temperature was 2200 °C. The precision and accuracy of the method were studied using the Reference Material BCR n ° 278 Mussel Tissue (Mytilus edulis). The detection limit (LOD) of the final slurry solution was 1 g/l of arsenic corresponding to an arsenic level in the mussel of 1.3 g/g, for a 0.5% (m/v) slurry. Results of calibration using aqueous standards and the standard additions method were compared. The method was applied to the determination of arsenic in mussels from the Galician coast. The levels found lie between 2 and 9.3 g/g of arsenic.  相似文献

A highly sensitive mechanized method has been developed for the determination of mercury in milk by atomic fluorescence spectrometry (AFS). Samples were sonicated for 10 min in an ultrasound water bath in the presence of 8% (v/v) aqua regia, 2% (v/v) antifoam A and 1% (m/v) hydroxilamine hydrochloride, and after that, they were treated with 8 mmol l−1 KBr and 1.6 mmol l−1 KBrO3 in an hydrochloric medium. Atomic fluorescence measurements were made by multicommutation, which provides a fast alternative in quality control analysis, due to the easy treatment of a large number of samples (approximately 70 h−1), and is an environmentally friendly procedure, which involves a waste generation of only 94.5 ml h−1 as compared with the 605 ml h−1 obtained by using continuous AFS measurements. The limit of detection found was 0.011 ng g−1 Hg in the original sample. The method provided a relative standard deviation of 3.4% for five independent analysis of a sample containing 0.30 ng g−1 Hg. To validate the accuracy of the method, a certified reference material NIST-1459 (non-fat milk powder) containing 0.3±0.2 ng g−1 Hg was analysed and a value of 0.27±0.06 ng g−1 Hg was found. A comparison made between data found by the developed procedure and those obtained by microwave-assisted digestion and continuous AFS measurements evidenced a good comparability between these two strategies. Results obtained for commercially available milk samples varied between 0.09 and 0.61 ng g−1 Hg depending on the type of sample and its origin. The confluence of the analytical waste with a 6 mol l−1 NaOH allowed us to reduce the waste generation in a working session from 1 l to 5 g solid residue with a matrix of Fe(OH)3 which contributes to the deactivation of traces of heavy metals presents in the samples that does not form volatile hydrides.  相似文献

The quality of food products has been receiving great attention due to its influence on human nutrition and health. In this sense, the determination of trace metals in foods has turned an important field on food analysis. Concerning vegetable oils, its metal trace composition is an important criterion for the assessment of their quality once it is known that trace metals affect their rate of oxidation, influencing freshness, keeping properties as well as storage. In the present work an analytical method which enables the direct determination of Cu and Ni in vegetable oils by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (GFAAS), using a “solid” sample strategy is presented: in nature, samples are directly weighed on the graphite platform boat and inserted in the graphite tube. An adequate temperature program permitted the calibration by external aqueous analytical curves. Good concordance between the proposed procedure and EPA procedures was found in the analysis of real samples. Limits of detection of 0.001 and 0.002 μg g−1 were found for Cu and Ni, respectively, in the original samples, and they were comfortably below the concentrations found.  相似文献

The presence of trace metals in car fuels plays an important role in the engine maintenance. In addition, these metals contribute for the environmental contamination in big cities and their control is necessary. Square Wave Stripping Voltammetry (SWSV) is a very sensitive technique for elemental trace determination and was applied for ethanol fuel analysis. The first studies were done searching for the best conditions for copper determination in alcoholic medium, utilizing gold electrodes. During these studies, the possibility of the simultaneous determination of copper and lead in the same experiment was observed. Two procedures for the analysis of these metals were adopted: The direct quantification of metals in alcohol–water mixtures and a second way that involves the evaporation of the organic solvent and re-suspension of the ions with water+electrolyte. Good recovery values were obtained for synthetic samples spiked with known amounts of metals. The results obtained for the two methods were in good agreement. The detection limits for copper and lead in 75% ethanol–water ratio solution were calculated as 120 and 235 ng l−1, respectively, for 15-min deposition time.  相似文献

A rapid and practical solid sampling electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometric method was described for the determination of lead in scalp hair. Hair samples were washed once with acetone; thrice with distilled-deionized water and again once with acetone and dried at 75 °C. Typically 0.05 to 1.0 mg of dried samples were inserted on the platforms of solid sampling autosampler. The effects of pyrolysis temperature, atomization temperature, the amount of sample as well as addition of a modifier (Pd/Mg) and/or auxiliary digesting agents (hydrogen peroxide and nitric acid) and/or a surfactant (Triton X-100) on the recovery of lead were investigated. Hair samples were washed once with acetone; thrice with distilled-deionized water and again once with acetone and dried at 75 °C. Typically 0.05 to 1.0 mg of dried samples were inserted on the platforms of solid sampling autosampler. The limit of detection for lead (3σ, N = 10) was 0.3 ng/g The addition of modifier, acids, oxidant and surfactant hardly improved the results. Due to the risk of contamination and relatively high blank values, the lead in hair were determined directly without adding any reagent(s). Finally, the method was applied for the segmental determination of lead concentrations in hair of different persons which is important to know when and how much a person was exposed to the analyte. For this purpose, 0.5 cm of pieces were cut along the one or a few close strands and analyzed by solid sampling.  相似文献

Methods for the determination of aluminium and manganese in human scalp hair samples by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry using the slurry sampling technique were developed. Palladium and magnesium nitrate were used as chemical modifiers. Hair samples were pulverized using a zirconia vibrational mill ball, and were prepared as aqueous slurries. Determinations can be performed in the linear ranges of 1.9–150 μg l−1 Al3+ and 0.03–10.0 μg l−1 Mn2+. Limits of detection of 0.9 mg kg−1 and 27.6 μg kg−1 were obtained for aluminium and manganese, respectively. The analytical recoveries were between 99.6 and 101.8% for aluminium and in the 98.3–101.3% range for manganese. The repeatability of the methods (n=11), slurry preparation procedure and ETAAS measurement, was 16.0 and 7.9% for aluminium and manganese, respectively. The methods were finally applied to the aluminium and manganese determination in 25 scalp hair samples from healthy adults. The levels for aluminium were between 8.21 and 74.08 mg kg−1, while concentrations between 0.03 and 1.20 mg kg−1 were found for manganese.  相似文献

A sensitive and selective method for the simultaneous determination of copper, zinc and lead is presented. The method is based on the adsorptive accumulation of 2′,3,4′,5,7-pentahydroxyflavone (Morin) complexes of these elements onto a hanging mercury drop electrode, followed by reduction of adsorbed species by voltammetric scan using differential pulse modulation. Optimal analytical conditions were found to be Morin concentration of 2.0 μM, pH of 4.0, and an adsorption potential at −500 mV versus Ag/AgCl. With an accumulation time of 60 s, the peak currents are proportional to the concentration of copper, lead and zinc over the 1 to 60, 0.3-80 and 1-70 ng ml−1 range with detection limits of 0.06, 0.08 and 0.06 ng ml−1, respectively. The procedure was applied to the simultaneous determination of copper, lead and zinc in some real and synthetic artificial real samples with satisfactory results.  相似文献

The present work proposes a direct method based on slurry sampling for the determination of zinc and copper in human hair samples by multi-element sequential flame atomic absorption spectrometry. The slurries were prepared by cryogenic grinding and sonication of the samples. The optimization step was performed using univariate methodology and the factors studied were: nature and concentration of the acid solution, amount sample/slurry volume, sonication time, and particle size. The established experimental conditions are the use of a sample mass of 50 mg, 2 mol L− 1 nitric acid solution, sonication time of 20 min and slurry volume of 10 mL. Adopting the optimized conditions, this method allows the determination of zinc and copper with detection limits of 88.3 and 53.3 ng g− 1, respectively, and precision expressed as relative standard deviation (RSD) of 1.7% and 1.6% (both, n = 10) for contents of zinc and copper of 100.0 and 33.3 μg g− 1, respectively. The accuracy was checked and confirmed by analysis of two certified reference materials of human hair. The procedure was applied for the determination of zinc and copper in two human hair samples. The zinc and copper contents varied from 100.0 to 175.6 and from 3.2 to 32.8 μg g− 1, respectively. These samples were also analyzed after complete digestion in a closed system and determination by FAAS. The statistical comparison by t-test (95% confidence level) showed no significant difference between these results.  相似文献
