Tannaka duality for proper Lie groupoids

By replacing the category of smooth vector bundles of finite rank over a manifold with the category of what we call smooth Euclidean fields, which is a proper enlargement of the former, and by considering smooth actions of Lie groupoids on smooth Euclidean fields, we are able to prove a Tannaka duality theorem for proper Lie groupoids. The notion of smooth Euclidean field we introduce here is the smooth, finite dimensional analogue of the usual notion of continuous Hilbert field.

Biholomorphic mappings between bounded domains in C n

In this paper we prove a global boundary behavior result on biholomorphic mappings between smooth bounded domains in complex space of any dimension. As a consquence, we have that the inverse of a biholomorphic mapping between smooth bounded domains is smooth up to the boundary if the mapping is smooth up to the boundary.     

Differential smoothness of skew polynomial rings

It is shown that, under some natural assumptions, the tensor product of differentially smooth algebras and the skew-polynomial rings over differentially smooth algebras are differentially smooth.     

Smooth distributions are finitely generated

A subbundle of variable dimension inside the tangent bundle of a smooth manifold is called a smooth distribution if it is the pointwise span of a family of smooth vector fields. We prove that all such distributions are finitely generated, meaning that the family may be taken to be a finite collection. Further, we show that the space of smooth sections of such distributions need not be finitely generated as a module over the smooth functions. Our results are valid in greater generality, where the tangent bundle may be replaced by an arbitrary vector bundle.     

Very smooth points of spaces of operators

In this paper we study very smooth points of Banach spaces with special emphasis on spaces of operators. We show that when the space of compact operators is anM-ideal in the space of bounded operators, a very smooth operatorT attains its norm at a unique vectorx (up to a constant multiple) andT(x) is a very smooth point of the range space. We show that if for every equivalent norm on a Banach space, the dual unit ball has a very smooth point then the space has the Radon-Nikodym property. We give an example of a smooth Banach space without any very smooth points.     

Hochschild Homology of Singular Algebras

One of the main properties of Hochschild homology of the algebra of smooth functions on a smooth manifold is its local character. In this paper, we consider subalgebras of smooth functions which are significant for singular spaces such that simplicial complexes or cones over smooth manifolds. We compute their Hochschild homology and investigate the local character. Our computations show that, in opposition with the smooth case, the (local part of the) Hochschild homology is not always isomorphic to the corresponding de Rham complex of differential forms. The method we use is a slight modification of the localization procedure introduced in by Sullivan.     

Approximation in Sobolev Spaces by Kernel Expansions

For interpolation of smooth functions by smooth kernels having an expansion into eigenfunctions (e.g., on the circle, the sphere, and the torus), good results including error bounds are known, provided that the smoothness of the function is closely related to that of the kernel. The latter fact is usually quantified by the requirement that the function should lie in the “native” Hilbert space of the kernel, but this assumption rules out the treatment of less smooth functions by smooth kernels. For the approximation of functions from “large” Sobolev spaces W by functions generated by smooth kernels, this paper shows that one gets at least the known order for interpolation with a less smooth kernel that has W as its native space.     

Gromov-Witten invariants of blow-ups along points and curves

Abstract. In this paper, using the gluing formula of Gromov-Witten invariants under symplectic cutting, due to Li and Ruan, we studied the Gromov-Witten invariants of blow-ups at a smooth point or along a smooth curve. We established some relations between Gromov-Witten invariants of M and its blow-ups at a smooth point or along a smooth curve. Received February 4, 1999

Local Smooth Representations of Parametric Semiclosed Polyhedra with Applications to Sensitivity in Piecewise Linear Programs

In this paper, we establish the equivalence between the half-space representation and the vertex representation of a smooth parametric semiclosed polyhedron. By virtue of the smooth representation result, we prove that the solution set of a smooth parametric piecewise linear program can be locally represented as a finite union of parametric semiclosed polyhedra generated by finite smooth functions. As consequences, we prove that the corresponding marginal function is differentiable and the solution map admits a differentiable selection.     

Smooth volume integral conservation law and method for problems in Lagrangian coordinates

An integral conservation law is derived for smooth volume in Lagrangian coordinates (a comoving frame). A method for approximation of the integral smooth volume conservation law is discussed. An extension technique is suggested for development of smooth volume schemes. For hyperbolic systems, smooth volume upwind and Godunov schemes with monotonic reconstruction are derived. The schemes are applied to equations of gas dynamics and tested for three gas-dynamics shock tube problems. The solutions are monotonic and precise. Ultra smooth continua are smooth

In this paper we to define and study a class of metric continua called ultra smooth, which (by the definition) form a subclass of the class of continua being hereditarily unicoherent at some point. The major result is that every ultra smooth continuum is smooth.     

Geometricity for derived categories of algebraic stacks

We prove that the dg category of perfect complexes on a smooth, proper Deligne–Mumford stack over a field of characteristic zero is geometric in the sense of Orlov, and in particular smooth and proper. On the level of triangulated categories, this means that the derived category of perfect complexes embeds as an admissible subcategory into the bounded derived category of coherent sheaves on a smooth, projective variety. The same holds for a smooth, projective, tame Artin stack over an arbitrary field.     

Uniform Convergence of Discrete Curvatures from Nets of Curvature Lines

We study discrete curvatures computed from nets of curvature lines on a given smooth surface and prove their uniform convergence to smooth principal curvatures. We provide explicit error bounds, with constants depending only on properties of the smooth limit surface and the shape regularity of the discrete net.     

多机制半参数平滑转换回归模型——兼论我国宏观经济运行周期

本文结合多机制平滑转换回归模型和半参数平滑转换回归模型,提出多机制半参数平滑转换回归模型。对模型转换函数中的未知光滑有界函数采用级数估计,并给出了结合Back-fitting算法和非线性最小二乘法估计模型参数的具体执行步骤,随机模拟结果说明了本文模型和估计算法的可行性和灵活性。应用本文模型和估计算法对我国宏观经济运行周期的实证研究表明,我国经济增长的非线性结构可以分为四个显著不同的增长机制:扩张阶段、衰退阶段、收缩阶段、恢复阶段,并且宏观经济政策的作用有三到四个季度的迟滞效应。     

Global Resolvability for Quasilinear Hyperbolic Systems

In this paper, we consider the globally smooth solutions of diagonalizable systems consisted of n-equations. We give a sufficient condition which guarantees the global existence of smooth solutions. Tb.e techniques used in this paper can be applied to study the globally smooth (or continuous) solutions diagonalizable noostrict hyperbolic conversation laws.

Smooth exact penalty functions: a general approach

In the article, we present a new perspective on the method of smooth exact penalty functions that is becoming more and more popular tool for solving constrained optimization problems. In particular, our approach to smooth exact penalty functions allows one to apply previously unused tools (namely, parametric optimization) to the study of these functions. We give a new simple proof of local exactness of smooth penalty functions that significantly generalizes all similar results existing in the literature. We also provide new necessary and sufficient conditions for a smooth penalty function to be globally exact.
