A binary multichannel photonic delay line (PDL) module is introduced that gives balanced loss switched states and a polarization-insensitive operation via the use of binary operation Digital Micromirror Devices (DMDs). Experimental demonstration of a DMD-based PDL architecture is performed for a 6.84-ns time delay design. Experimental results include a 25-beam feed interchannel crosstalk test indicating a <−60 dB optical interchannel crosstalk level for a 0.381 mm interchannel distance in the multichannel PDL. An average optical signal-to-leakage noise ratio of 35.33 dB is measured for this PDL. A butterfly design PDL optical architecture is proposed for minimizing loss and improving assembly accuracy. These DMD-based variable PDLs can be used in applications ranging from radio frequency (RF) fiber-optic signal processing systems to adaptive optics for astronomical and laser radar arrays. 相似文献

光纤化学传感器作为传感器的一个重要分支,结合了化学和光学的相关技术,将化学制膜、光纤技术以及化学分析中的分光光度法、拉曼光谱、荧光光谱、折射率检测等方法相融合,以其微型化,抗电磁干扰,传输信息量大,拥有自身参比等特点不断向前发展。简要综述了光纤化学传感技术研究近况和未来的发展趋势。重点对光纤pH化学传感器、光纤离子化学传感器和光纤气体化学传感器进行了介绍。简要分析了常见的敏感膜制备方法如化学键合法和溶胶凝胶(sol-gel)等方法。新型光纤——微结构光纤的出现为光纤化学传感器开辟了新的发展方向。由于其具有大的内表面积,结构设计灵活多样,光纤内部提供感应场所等特点,快速度成为光纤化学传感器的重要发展方向和研究热点。对微结构光纤衍生而来的新型光纤化学传感器进行了详细评述, 最后对光纤化学传感器的未来进行展望。 相似文献

In this study, we fabricated a fiber-optic goniometer using a plastic optical fiber, a light-emitting diode, and a photodiode. The cladding of the plastic optical fiber was removed at 0.5–3mm intervals regularly to increase the bending loss of the plastic optical fiber. Also, the output voltages of the photodiode based on light intensity that measured using the fiber-optic goniometer were measured light intensities using the fiber-optic goniometer were measured to evaluate the linearity of the fiber-optic goniometer. Finally, we measured the responses of the fiber-optic goniometer for gait speeds of 3, 5, and 10 km/h using a data acquisition board and a LabVIEW program. 相似文献

A Michelson-based fiber-optic low-coherence interferometric quasi-distributed sensing system permitting absolute length measurement in a sensor array is proposed. The main part of the sensing system is a fiberoptic 3 x 3 star coupler. The architecture of fiber-optic sensors can be easily realized as a linear sensor array, twin sensor arrays, or a loop sensor array. The proposed sensing scheme will be useful for the measurement of strain distribution. An important application could be deformation sensing in smart structures. A nonreciprocal fiber-optic interferometer is demonstrated in an optical coherence tomography (OCT) system. The increased power efficiency of this system provides a 4.1-dB advantage over standard Michelson implementations. In addition, a new linear-scanning fiber-optic catheter is demonstrated that avoids the rotary optical junction that is required in circumferential scanning systems. These advancements have permitted the clinical implementation of OCT imaging in the human gastrointestinal tract. 相似文献

We propose and demonstrate an optical voltage sensing scheme based on a macrobending optical fiber in a ratiometric power measurement system. This novel approach to sensing has not been utilized before and has the advantage that the sensor involves simple fabrication compared to existing fiber-optic voltage sensors. To prove the feasibility of such a fiber-optic sensor, a sensor for a voltage range from 0∼100 V is demonstrated, with a resolution of 0.5 V. The sensor is robust, linear, and shows a competitive measurement resolution. The sensor can be easily scaled to suit other voltage levels and be effectively combined with optical current sensors. 相似文献

An all-fiber Fourier-transform spectrometer is proposed and demonstrated, based on the diffraction of light through the side of a standard optical fiber by a UV-induced fiber grating. The interference pattern, whose Fourier transform yields the optical spectrum, is formed by light diffracted from counterpropagating modes in the fiber. The device is simple and compact and functions as a wavemeter, a fiber-optic network monitor, or a tool for fabrication and testing of long fiber Bragg gratings. 相似文献

We report an all-fiber-optic scanning, multimodal endomicroscope capable of simultaneous optical coherence tomography (OCT) and two-photon fluorescence (TPF) imaging. Both imaging modalities share the same miniature fiber-optic scanning endomicroscope, which consists of a double-clad fiber with a core operating in single mode at both the OCT (1310 nm) and two-photon excitation (1550 nm) wavelengths, a piezoelectric two-dimensional fiber-optic beam scanner, and a miniature aspherical compound lens suitable for simultaneous acquisition of en face OCT and TPF images. A fiber-optic wavelength division multiplexer was employed in the integrated platform to combine the low coherence OCT light source and the femtosecond two-photon excitation laser into the same optical path. Preliminary imaging results of cell cultures and mouse tissue ex vivo demonstrate the feasibility of simultaneous real-time OCT and TPF imaging in a scanning endomicroscopy setting for the first time. 相似文献

An experimental study was conducted to investigate the applicability of fiber-optic acoustic sensors to detect internal flaws in polymeric materials. A polarimetric fiber-optic sensor embedded in a plexiglass model received the acoustic signals generated by an ultrasonic transducer. It is shown that proper control of the polarization and phase of the optical beam is required to obtain meaningful results from the amplitude of the fiber-optic sensor signal. The sensor has shown promising results in determining acoustical properties of plexiglass and locating internal defects. The attractive feature of this sensing scheme is that the optical fibers are not modified prior to embedding. Therefore, they preserve their mechanical properties which makes the embedding process much easier. 相似文献

New methods are proposed for extending the range of fiber-optic one-way quantum key distribution (QKD), inspired by classical optical communication formats. A new time-domain technique based on pulse position modulation (PPM) is combined with differential phase-shift keying to optically implement a six-state protocol. Temperature dependences of the zero drift in a fiber ring interferometer (FRI) without a polarizer in the presence of random inhomogeneities in a single-mode optical fiber in the FRI loop are obtained by numerical simulation. The results are compared with known experimental data. It is shown that FRIs using a superluminescent diode as a source of nonmonochromatic radiation and a loop made of a single-mode optical fiber with weak linear birefringence can find application as low-accuracy fiber-optic gyroscopes and FRIs with a loop made of a single-mode optical fiber with strong linear birefringence can be used as medium-accuracy fiber-optic gyroscopes. 相似文献
