A model based on diffusion of dopants in a periodic structure has been applied to describe thermal decay of chemical composition gratings in fluorine-germanium-doped silica fibers. The good agreement between previously reported values and the diffusion coefficients derived here from experiments and models in the 1000-1200 degrees C temperature range indicate that fluorine diffusion is the main mechanism of grating decay. Experimental results also indicate that the presence of phosphorous significantly increases the decay rate of chemical composition gratings.  相似文献

It is shown by experimental examples how the postexposure relaxation of a photochemically induced grating used to study the diffusion of a molecular probe by the holographic relaxation method depends on the molecular mechanism of the grating formation, medium inhomogeneity, and relative shift of grating parts, as well as the grating strength. The adequate consideration of the factors influencing the observed behavior of the grating provides for the possibility not only to correctly retrieve information about the diffusion, but also to extend the range of studied phenomena.  相似文献

A phenomenological theory of the decay time of an excitonic grating (a grating of exciton densities) formed at some initial moment in a plane-parallel plate of a molecular crystal has been developed. Along with the diffusion of excitons reabsorption of the fluorescence light radiated by excitons is also taken into account. It is shown that in crystals with large overlapping of absorption and emission spectra the life time of the exciton grating is diminished appreciably by reabsorption. Numerical estimations for this life for anthracene at room temperature were made. In the above conditions it is the reabsorption which is important, whereas the diffusion of excitons hardly affects the decay time of the excitonic grating. The available experimental data and possible trends of further investigations are discussed.  相似文献

Long holographic lifetimes in bacteriorhodopsin films   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
The D85N genetic variant of bacteriorhodopsin (BR) displays a nearly permanent lifetime of the photochromic P(490) state. We present pump-probe measurements that demonstrate this behavior. However, diffraction efficiency measurements made from holograms recorded in a hydrated D85N film show markedly different decay behavior, suggesting that a molecular diffusion process is occurring in the film. Holograms recorded with different grating frequencies display correspondingly different decay times, thus supporting this hypothesis. A thin D85N film was fabricated that was chemically cross linked, resulting in the elimination of diffusion of BR molecules within the polymer matrix. This film exhibits a grating lifetime of the order of weeks or more, thus permitting the long-term holographic storage of information.  相似文献

We describe recent studies on diffraction properties of a photorefractive barium titanate crystal having a thermally fixed grating. Buildup dynamics of diffracted signals are measured to analyze the contributions of ionic and re-created photocarrier (hole) gratings to the temperature-dependent diffraction efficiency in self-enhanced readout. An activation energy of mobile ions as nonphotoactive secondary carriers for fixing volume holograms is determined holographically. This value is compared with that of hydrogen ions estimated from polarization-dependent infrared absorption spectra in order to indentify the fixing species.  相似文献

We elucidate photoexcitation dynamics in C(60) and zinc phthalocyanine (ZnPc) from picoseconds to milliseconds by transient absorption and time-resolved terahertz spectroscopy. Autoionization of C(60) is a precursor to photocarrier generation. Decay of the terahertz signal is due to decreasing photocarrier mobility over the first 20 ps and thereafter reflects recombination dynamics. Singlet diffusion rates in C(60) are determined by modeling the rise of ground state bleaching of ZnPc absorption following C(60) excitation. Recombination dynamics transform from bimolecular to monomolecular as the layer thickness is reduced, revealing a metastable exciplex at the C(60)/ZnPc interface with a lifetime of 150 μs.  相似文献

The diffusion of azo-dye (DR-1) in a planar liquid crystals host (5CB) at various temperatures has been investigated by laser-induced holographic grating relaxation technique. The decay of the diffraction intensity provides information about the diffusion of photoexcited azo-dye molecules. The relaxation time constants can be derived from the time dependence of the diffraction intensity fitted by a single exponential function. Thus, the diffusion coefficients parallel and perpendicular to the director of liquid crystals at various temperatures can be obtained from the plots of the reciprocal of the relaxation time versus the square of the grating vector. From the analysis of the holographic grating relaxation, the diffusion is faster along the molecular director than for the perpendicular case, and the diffusion increases with rising temperature either parallel or perpendicular to the nematic director of liquid crystals. Lifetimes of thermally fixed holograms in LiNbO(3):Fe crystals   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The thermal erasure decay at different temperatures of holographic gratings thermally fixed in iron-doped lithium niobate has been exhaustively studied. An activation energy of 0.94 eV was found to be independent of the grating fringe spacing. At a given temperature the decay time is strongly dependent on the grating spacing. This dependence is well fitted to a square fringe spacing law, as predicted theoretically. From the experimental data the room-temperature hologram lifetime under illumination is extrapolated, giving as a result t(years)=(5.2+/-0.2)?(2) , with the grating spacing ? in micrometers.  相似文献

为提高有机-无机杂化钙钛矿太阳能电池(PSCs)光吸收效率、平衡有源层中载流子产生速率,将周期性纳米光栅结构引入到PSCs器件结构中。分析了光栅周期、光栅高度和有源层厚度对表面等离子激元(SPPs)与法布里-珀罗(F-P)共振耦合模式的影响。通过改变光栅周期,实现了SPPs与F-P共振耦合波长范围与钙钛矿材料的弱吸收光谱区域相重合,同时光栅高度的增加可以增大耦合模式的光谱宽度。SPPs与F-P共振耦合模式实现了金属电极与电子传输层(ETL)界面处的局域电场增强。结果表明:场增强效应扩展到有源区,有效提高了PSCs有源层远入射光侧在570~800 nm波长范围内的光吸收,进而提高了有源层远入射光区域的载流子产生速率。当光栅周期为250 nm、光栅高度为50 nm、源层厚度为300 nm时,PSCs在太阳光弱吸收光谱区域内的本征吸收提高了~12%,有源层远入射光侧载流子产生速率提高了~41%。  相似文献

Results on picosecond luminescence and excite-and-probe transmission as well as transient grating measurements for highly excited CdS measured at a bath temperature of 5 K will be presented. The luminescence and optical gain both due to electron-hole plasma and excitonic molecule recombination are observed. The electron-hole plasma decays very fast by bimolecular recombination of electrons and holes in the plasma and diffusion of the carrier toward the low density regions, and transforms into excitons and excitonic molecules within 100–200 ps. The possibility of electron-hole liquid formation is definitely excluded. The exciton and excitonic molecule decay rather slowly and govern the optical properties for times longer than 200 ps.  相似文献

报道了激光诱导热光栅光谱测温技术的研究. 通过两束相干交叉的脉冲抽运光, 在NO2/N2混合气中诱导出热光栅, 一束满足布拉格散射条件的连续探测光在交叉区域激励出相干的热光栅信号, 经过空间和光谱滤波的信号光由光电倍增管探测, 并由数字示波器显示和存储. 该信号携带了丰富的流场信息, 通过频域分析, 对气体的温度进行了测量, 热光栅光谱技术测量的温度与热电偶温度符合得很好. 同时还利用热光栅光谱技术进行了气体声速的直接测量, 在一定的温度范围内, 测量结果与理论曲线基本一致, 显示了该技术具有较高的测量精度与多参数同时测量的能力. 对影响信号波形的因素进行了分析, 结果表明, 热光栅光谱测温技术在高压强环境下应用具有独特的优势, 是一种应用前景广阔的激光燃烧诊断技术.  相似文献

The spectrum of electromagnetic (EM) radiation from two-dimensional(2D) plasmons in a semiconductor-dielectric structure with metal grating has been calculated in a strict electromagnetic approach. It is shown that radiation frequency and linewidth vary over a broad range of magnitude as a function of the grating parameters. The radiative decay linewidth is found to be two orders of magnitude larger than expected from the perturbation theory. Comparison of the results with previously published experimental data on 2D plasmons in GaAs heterostructures makes us conclude that the main contribution to the experimental decay linewidth arises from dielectric losses in the layers of the structure.  相似文献

In this work we investigated the photoluminescence response in the frequency domain modulated infrared radiometry signal observed of ZnTe:Cr bulk crystal. In mid-infrared range, three characteristic phenomena are observed in ZnTe:Cr crystal: absorption and emission of IR photons (2–3 μm) and the free carrier absorption. This implies that the modulated infrared radiometry signal yields information about the effective infrared absorption coefficient (photothermal response) as well about the recombination lifetime of carriers related with the infrared photoluminescence emission. In this paper, the frequency equivalence of the two-term independent exponential photoluminescence decay model in order to explain the measured frequency characteristics is proposed. The measured recombination lifetimes (2.3 μs for two exponential decay model and 1.5 μs for one exponential decay model) are in good agreement with the values given by other authors (about 2.5–3.0 μs). Moreover, we found that the photothermal response is uncorrelated with the photoluminescence one, in contrast, to the photocarrier response.  相似文献

Equations for the grating space-charge density and concentration of free carriers induced by a standing light wave in an anisotropic photorefractive crystal are derived and solved. The charge density and electric field are found to depend on the orientation of the graing relative to the crystal axes. It is shown that the grating kinetics is determined by the difference between two exponentials with characteristic times the sum of which can be treated as the decay constant of the grating. Three ranges of Maxwell relaxation times are distinguished, where this time constant behaves differently. The grating kinetics for a number of crystals is considered.  相似文献

Spatial hole burning of population differences by standing waves is considered in terms of Bragg-like gratings. This philosophy is used to explain increased saturation in two-mirror, single-mode laser operation with stationary active systems, modified mode coupling in the corresponding two-mode operation, an intensity dip that might occur in flowed standing wave lasers, bistable unidirectional ring laser operation, and increased saturation in distributed feedback lasers. The analysis is developed for both stationary media and for those moving with respect to the standing wave. The latter treatment is used to interpret washout of grating contributions in Doppler broadened media, and to determine level decay constants in stationary media. This last application constitutes a stationary system analog to the Doppler medium's Lamb dip spectroscopy and can be called saturation grating spectroscopy. Knowledge of the decay constants is particularly important in laser studies involving coherent mode couplings such as due to saturation grating scattering and population pulsations. It is further shown that the same equations result for probe and saturating waves propagating in the same direction. One then obtains a signal absorption with a heterodyne advantage. Inasmuch as diffusion affects the two methods quite differently, this phenomenon should be easily examined.
