We investigate tachyon dynamics with an inverse power-law potential V () . We find global attractors of the dynamics leading to a dust behavior for > 2 and to an accellerating universe for 0 < 2. We study linear cosmological perturbations and we show that metric fluctuations are constant on large scales in both cases. In the presence of an additional perfect fluid, the tachyon with this potential behaves as dust or dark energy.  相似文献

For the first time, the antiStokes luminescence in colloidal solutions of CdTe nanocrystals on excitation below the absorption edge has been discovered. The maximum spectral shift to the shortwave region relative to the excitation energy E con max = 319 meV is obtained for meansized nanocrystals (2.5 nm). The conversion efficiency of the absorbed radiant energy is 1.3·10–2%. The rise in the antiStokes photoluminescence intensity with increasing temperature and the linear dependence on the exciting radiation intensity have been established. It is shown that the effect observed cannot be caused by twophoton excitation or by Auger recombination. It is assumed that the basic mechanism of the luminescence observed is the radiative recombination through the energy levels of the states attributable to the disturbance of the crystal structure in the nanocrystals.  相似文献

The cross section for the radiative photoproduction of + mesons on hydrogenp + n in dependence on the momentum transfer squared has been measured at the 1·2 GeV electron synchrotron PACHRA. Using extrapolation of the data to pion pole the differential cross section for the pion Compton scattering + + has been obtained, and the electric polarizability of the + meson has been estimated to be =(20±12) x 10-43cm3.Presented at the symposium Mesons and Light Nuclei, Bechyn, Czechoslovakia, May 27–June 1, 1985.The authors thank P. We present a simple and accurate method for characteristic analysis of metal-clad dielectric waveguides and absorptive waveguides. The real partN of the complex modal indexN=N + iN is obtained by solving the corresponding real eigenvalue equation, and the imaginary partN is given by (n/), where= + i is the complex dielectric constant of the absorptive layer, and N/ is obtained by numerical differentiation. The method is straightforward, and the cumbersome solution of complex transcendental equations is completely eliminated. Results for simple structures are in good agreement with those obtained by exact analysis.  相似文献

A qualitative change in the topology of the joint probability densityP(,x), which occurs for strongly colored noise in multistable systems, has recently been observed first by analog simulation (F. Moss and F. Marchesoni,Phys. Lett. A 131:322 (1988)) and confirmed by matrix continued fraction methods (Th. Leiber and H. Riskin, unpublished), and by analytic theory (P. Hänggi, P. Jung, and F. Marchesoni,J. Stat. Phys., this issue). Systems studied were of the classx=–U(x)/x+(t,), whereU(x) is a multistable potential and (t, ) is a colored, Gaussian noise of intensityD, for which =0, and (t) (s)=(D/)exp(–t–s/). When the noise correlation time is smaller than some critical value 0, which depends onD, the two-dimensional densityP(,x) has the usual topology [P. Jung and H. Risken,Z. Phys. B 61:367 (1985); F. Moss and P. V. E. McClintock,Z. Phys. B 61:381 (1985)]: a pair of local maxima ofP(,x), which correspond to a pair of adjacent local minima ofU(x), are connected by a single saddle point which lies on thex axis. When >0, however, the single saddle disappears and is replaced by a pair of off-axis saddles. A depression, or hole, which is bounded by the saddles and the local maxima thus appears. The most probable trajectory connecting the two potential wells therefore does not pass through the origin for >0, but instead must detour around the local barrier. This observation implies that successful mean-first-passage-time theories of strongly colored noise driven systems must necessarily be two dimensional (Hänggiet al.). We have observed these holes for several potentialsU(x): (1)a soft, bistable potential by analog simulation (Moss and Marchesoni); (2) a periodic potential [Th. Leiber, F. Marchesoni, and H. Risken,Phys. Rev. Lett. 59:1381 (1987)] by matrix continued fractions; (3) the usual hard, bistable potential,U(x)=–ax 2/2+bx 4/4, by analog simulations only; and (4) a random potential for which the forcingf(x)=–U(x)/x is an approximate Gaussian with nonzero correlation length, i.e., colored spatiotemporal noise, by analog simulation. There is a critical curve 0(D) in the versusD plane which divides the two topological behaviors. For a fixed value ofD, this curve is shifted toward larger values of 0 for progressively weaker barriers between the wells. Therefore, strong barriers favor the observation of this topological transformation at smaller values of . Recently, an analytic expression for the critical curve, valid asymptotically in the small-D limit, has been obtained (Hänggiet al.).This paper will appear in a forthcoming issue of theJournal of Statistical Physics.  相似文献

The vapour jets of electrode material of a short-time high-intensity electric discharge
The velocity of vapours from electrodes and the values of the electric gradient of the channel were measured. An explanation is given of the dependence of the discharge rate of the vapours on the electrode material and the thermal origin of the jets is confirmed. The validity of the results is shown for the case of a different experimental arrangement, or the formation of other types of discharges on electrodes.

On the relation between the method of spherical harmonics and the method of discrete coordinates
The relation between the method of spherical harmonics and the method of discrete coordinates is studied from the point of view of the integral Boltzmann equation for neutron diffusion problems which have full plane and cylindrical symmetry.

The existence of long-range order is proved under certain conditions for the antiferromagnetic quantum spin system with anisotropic interactions (XXZ model) on the simple cubic or the square lattice. In three dimensions (the simple cubic lattice), finite long-range order exists at sufficiently low temperatures for any anisotropy(0) ifS1, and for 0<0.29 (XY-like) or>1.19 (Ising-like) ifS=1/2. In two dimensions (the square lattice), ground-state long-range order exists under the following conditions: for any anisotropy (0) ifS3/2; 0<0.032 (XY-like) or 0.67<<1.34 (almost isotropic) or>1.80 (Ising-like) ifS=1;>1.93 (Ising-like) ifS=1/2. We conjecture that the two-dimensional spin-1/2XY model (=0) has finite ground-state long-range order. Numerical evidence supporting this conjecture is given.  相似文献

We consider a theoretical model for ferromagnetic metals like Gd, which takes into account the exchange interaction and the hybridization between two electronic subsystems. The first is built up by quasi-localized electrons, which take care for the existence of permanent magnetic moments, and is described by an atomic limit multiband Hubbard-Hamiltonian. The second subsystem consists of relatively broad conduction bands with more or less free electrons. We investigate the influence of electron correlations on the conduction band states in dependence of temperatureT and bandfillingn. A sensitive reaction of the band states on the magnetic ordering of the moment system leads to strong band deformations. The main goal is the determination of a quasiparticle bandstructure, which we derive in analogy to the experiment (PES, IPE) directly from the spectral density. The new aspect is a splitting of the bare dispersion m (k) into several quasiparticle dispersion curves with stronglyT-andn-dependent spectral weights. Even forT>T c an exchange-caused splitting is found. — In this paper we use as input for the free band energies m (k) a nondegenerate simple cubic-tight binding expression, and in addition seven dispersionlessf-levels, in order to stress mainly the influence of many body effects. It is discussed how the model can be coupled to a LDA bandstructure calculation, in order to get quantitative results for theT-dependent electronic structure of the ferromagnetic 4f-metal Gd, the presentation of which is intended in a forthcoming paper.  相似文献

The general theory of the preceding paper is applied to a concrete case. The spin wave interaction operator, s , is derived by quantizing a phenomenological expression, which expresses the contribution to the energy of the magnetic sample, caused by fluctuations in the anisotropic and exchange interaction. The influence of thermally excited spin waves on the absorption of energy from a high-frequency field and the justification for the application of the general results of the preceding paper are discussed on the basis of the form of the operator s . The interaction operator of the magnetic sample with the h-f field is also determined, and it is used to give a definite form to the expression for the resonance curve of the imaginary part of the susceptibility '. Using the matrix elements of the operator s we calculate the quantitiy, which formally corresponds to the width of the resonance -curve. The magnitude of is estimated numerically and our results are compared with those obtained by A. M. Clogston et al. and E. Schlömann for the line width in monocrystals and the shape of the resonance curve in polycrystals respectively. The expression obtained on the basis of the theory of the preceding paper for the frequency shift diverges in our case. The way in which to avoid this divergence is indicated.

We reconsider the problem of the Hamiltonian interpolation of symplectic mappings. Following Moser's scheme, we prove that for any mapping , analytic and -close to the identity, there exists an analytic autonomous Hamiltonian system, H such that its time-one mapping H differs from by a quantity exponentially small in 1/. This result is applied, in particular, to the problem of numerical integration of Hamiltonian systems by symplectic algorithms; it turns out that, when using an analytic symplectic algorithm of orders to integrate a Hamiltonian systemK, one actually follows exactly, namely within the computer roundoff error, the trajectories of the interpolating Hamiltonian H, or equivalently of the rescaled Hamiltonian K=-1H, which differs fromK, but turns out to be 5 close to it. Special attention is devoted to numerical integration for scattering problems.  相似文献

We continue to investigate the size dependence of disordered mean-field models with finite local spin space in more detail, illustrating the concept of superstates as recently proposed by Bovier and Gayrard. We discuss various notions of convergence for the behavior of the paths (t[tN]()) t(0, 1] in the thermodynamic limit N. Here n () is the Gibbs measure in the finite volume {1,..., n} and is the disorder variable. In particular we prove refined convergence statements in our concrete examples, the Hopfield model with finitely many patterns (having continuous paths) and the Curie–Weiss random-field Ising model (having singular paths).  相似文献

In a Riemannian space-time, the difference between the third-order tensor potentialH of the Riemann tensor (presented in a precedent paper) and the Lanczos generating function of the Weyl tensor is here shown to be characterized by a vectorV , obtained by contractionH . The significant role of such a vector, in the context of general relativity, is then discussed. Particular attention is paid to the scalar potential which characterizes the irrotational part ofV : such a scalar field satisfies a space-time wave equation of the Poisson type. Weak fields are also considered: in the particular case of a static metric, the scalar is found to be proportional to the classic Newtonian potential. This work was done in the sphere of activity of the C.N.R. The usual kinetic equations for the site occupation probabilities in an external field are solved exactly in a simple one-dimensional periodic model with two kinds of atoms using a) free boundary conditions and order of limitsN, 0 needed for a proper treatment of the dc conductivity here b) boundary conditions with metallic contacts and order of limitsN, 0 and c) the same boundary conditions but reversed order of limiting processes 0,N typical of e.g. numerical and percolation treatments. (N and are the number of sites and frequency.) It is demonstrated that though the bulk dc conductivity is the same in all three cases, local bulk properties of the material are strongly dependent on the régime used. The role of the order of all three limiting processes 0,N+ andn+ (Nn+) for local shifts of the chemical potential n in the dc limit is examined (n is the number of the relevant site calculated from a boundary of the chain). It is shown especially that the rate equation treatment (régime a) on the one hand and numerical or percolation treatments (régime c) on the other hand never yield the same bulk values of r.  相似文献

There are series solutions for characteristic boundary value problems for fields on black hole backgrounds that converge when the data are given on = +, or on = +, but may not converge when the data are given on , or on + +. We specialize to oscillatory data of frequency and calculate approximate reflection and transmission coefficientsR() andT(), using a field generated by data on = +, and again, using a field generated by data on . The first calculation gives qualitatively good results at all frequencies at each order of approximation, and quantitatively better results at higher orders of approximation; the second calculation, using the series which may not converge, gives bad results except at very high frequencies. Thus for the physically unnatural case of a field that vanishes on and goes toe iv on + we have a series that is convergent, and uniformly so with respect to frequency, while for the natural case of a field that vanishes on and goes toe iv on we are limited to high frequencies. It is argued that a frequency-dependent renormalization of a series of the first type provides an approximation scheme that is convergent, and uniformly so with respect to frequency, for the physically important problems of the second type. The difficulties posed by the -dependent renormalization for the study of incident pulses are discussed.  相似文献
