Elements of the universal (von Neumann) regular ring T(R) of a commutative semiprime ring R can be expressed as a sum of products of elements of R and quasi-inverses of elements of R. The maximum number of terms required is called the regularity degree, an invariant for R measuring how R sits in T(R). It is bounded below by 1 plus the Krull dimension of R. For rings with finitely many primes and integral extensions of noetherian rings of dimension 1, this number is precisely the regularity degree.

For each n ≥ 1, one can find a ring of regularity degree n + 1. This shows that an infinite product of epimorphisms in the category of commutative rings need not be an epimorphism.

Finite upper bounds for the regularity degree are found for noetherian rings R of finite dimension using the Wiegand dimension theory for Patch R. These bounds apply to integral extensions of such rings as well.  相似文献

Let R be a commutative ring and let ?(σ) be a Gabriel filter of R such that R is σ-noetherian. We discuss the decomposition of the σ 1-torsion submodule of a σ-torsionfree R-module and characterize the σ l-injectivity of σ-closed R-modules through the σ m-injectivity of modules over noetherian local rings (S, m). As an application, we obtain new criteria to determine injectivity of modules over noetherian rings, of finite Krull dimension, and Krull domains.  相似文献

For an integral domainR and a non-zero non-unitaεR we consider the number of distinct factorizations ofa n into irreducible elements ofR for largen. Precise results are obtained for Krull domains and certain noetherian domains. In fact, we prove results valid for certain classes of monoids which then apply to the above-mentioned classes of domains.  相似文献

We prove that if R is a left Noetherian and left regular ring then the same is true for any bijective skew PBW extension A of R. From this we get Serre's Theorem for such extensions. We show that skew PBW extensions and its localizations include a wide variety of rings and algebras of interest for modern mathematical physics such as PBW extensions, well-known classes of Ore algebras, operator algebras, diffusion algebras, quantum algebras, quadratic algebras in 3-variables, skew quantum polynomials, among many others. We estimate the global, Krull and Goldie dimensions, and also Quillen's K-groups.  相似文献

In this paper we prove that under some natural conditions, the Ore extensions and skew Laurent polynomial rings are injectively homogeneous or homologically homogeneous if so are their coefficient rings. Specifically, we prove that ifR is a commutative Noetherian ring of positive characteristic, thenA n (R), then th Weyl algebra overR, is injectively homogeneous (resp. homologically homogeneous) ifR has finite injective dimension (resp. global dimension).  相似文献

We study the skew inverse Laurent-serieswise Armendariz (or simply, SIL-Armendariz) condition on R, a generalization of the standard Armendariz condition from polynomials to skew inverse Laurent series. We study relations between the set of annihilators in R and the set of annihilators in R((x ?1; α)). Among applications, we show that a number of interesting properties of a SIL-Armendariz ring R such as the Baer and the α-quasi Baer property transfer to its skew inverse Laurent series extensions R((x ?1; α)) and vice versa. For an α-weakly rigid ring R, R((x ?1; α)) is a left p.q.-Baer ring if and only if R is left p.q.-Baer and every countable subset of S ?(R) has a generalized countable join in R. Various types of examples of SIL-Armendariz rings is provided.  相似文献

We study the “q-commutative” power series ring R: = k q [[x 1,...,x n ]], defined by the relations x i x j  = q ij x j x i , for mulitiplicatively antisymmetric scalars q ij in a field k. Our results provide a detailed account of prime ideal structure for a class of noncommutative, complete, local, noetherian domains having arbitrarily high (but finite) Krull, global, and classical Krull dimension. In particular, we prove that the prime spectrum of R is normally separated and is finitely stratified by commutative noetherian spectra. Combining this normal separation with results of Chan, Wu, Yekutieli, and Zhang, we are able to conclude that R is catenary. Following the approach of Brown and Goodearl, we also show that links between prime ideals are provided by canonical automorphisms. Moreover, for sufficiently generic q ij , we find that R has only finitely many prime ideals and is a UFD (in the sense of Chatters).  相似文献

Hirano studied the quasi-Armendariz property of rings, and then this concept was generalized by some authors, defining quasi-Armendariz property for skew polynomial rings and monoid rings. In this article, we consider unified approach to the quasi-Armendariz property of skew power series rings and skew polynomial rings by considering the quasi-Armendariz condition in mixed extension ring [R; I][x; σ], introducing the concept of so-called (σ, I)-quasi Armendariz ring, where R is an associative ring equipped with an endomorphism σ and I is an σ-stable ideal of R. We study the ring-theoretical properties of (σ, I)-quasi Armendariz rings, and we obtain various necessary or sufficient conditions for a ring to be (σ, I)-quasi Armendariz. Constructing various examples, we classify how the (σ, I)-quasi Armendariz property behaves under various ring extensions. Furthermore, we show that a number of interesting properties of an (σ, I)-quasi Armendariz ring R such as reflexive and quasi-Baer property transfer to its mixed extension ring and vice versa. In this way, we extend the well-known results about quasi-Armendariz property in ordinary polynomial rings and skew polynomial rings for this class of mixed extensions. We pay also a particular attention to quasi-Gaussian rings.  相似文献

IfR is a right noetherian ring, the decomposition of an injective module, as a direct sum of uniform submodules, is well known. Also, this property characterises this kind of ring. M. L. Teply obtains this result for torsion-free injective modules. The decomposition of injective modules relative to a torsion theory has been studied by S. Mohamed, S. Singh, K. Masaike and T. Horigone. In this paper our aim is to determine those rings satisfying that every torsion-freeτ-injective module is a direct sum ofτ-uniformτ-injective submodules and also to determine those rings with the same property for everyτ-injective module.  相似文献

For a ring endomorphism α, we introduce and investigate SPA-rings which are a generalization of α-rigid rings and determine the radicals of the skew polynomial rings R[x; α], R[x, x ?1; α] and the skew power series rings R[[x; α]], R[[x, x ?1; α]], in terms of those of R. We prove that several properties transfer between R and the extensions, in case R is an SPA-ring. We will construct various types of nonreduced SPA-rings and show SPA is a strictly stronger condition than α-rigid.  相似文献

The rank rk(R) of a ring R is the supremum of minimal cardinalities of generating sets of I as I ranges over ideals of R. Matsuda and Matson showed that every n?+ (the positive integers) occurs as the rank of some ring R. Motivated by the result of Cohen and Gilmer that a ring of finite rank has Krull dimension 0 or 1, we give four different constructions of rings of rank n (for all n?+). Two constructions use one-dimensional domains. Our third construction uses Artinian rings (dimension zero), and our last construction uses polynomial rings over local Artinian rings (dimension one, irreducible, not a domain).  相似文献

We prove two results about Witt rings W(−) of regular schemes. First, given a semi-local regular ring R of Krull dimension d, if U is the punctured spectrum, obtained from Spec(R) by removing the maximal ideals of height d, then the natural map is injective. Secondly, given a regular integral scheme X of finite Krull dimension, consider Q its function field and the natural map . We prove that there is an integer N, depending only on the Krull dimension of X, such that the product of any choice of N elements in is zero. That is, this kernel is nilpotent. We give upper and lower bounds for the exponent N. Received: December 4, 2001  相似文献

It is proved that if a PI-ring R has a faithful left R-module M with Krull dimension, then its prime radical rad(R) is nilpotent. If, moreover, the R-module M and the left idealR(rad(R)) are finitely generated, then R has a left Krull dimension equal to the Krull dimension of M. It turns out that a semiprime ring, which has a faithful (left or right) module with Krull dimension, is a finite subdirect product of prime rings. Moreover, first, a right Artinian ring R such that rad(R)2=0 has a faithful Artinian cyclic left module, and second, a finitely generated semiprime PI-algebra over a field has a faithful Artinian module. We give examples showing that the restrictions imposed are essential, as well as an example of a finitely generated prime PI-algebra over a field, which is not Noetherian and has a Krull dimension. We give sufficient conditions on a class of R‐modules $\mathcal {C}We give sufficient conditions on a class of R‐modules $\mathcal {C}$ in order for the class of complexes of $\mathcal {C}$‐modules, $dw \mathcal {C}$, to be covering in the category of complexes of R‐modules. More precisely, we prove that if $\mathcal {C}$ is precovering in R ? Mod and if $\mathcal {C}$ is closed under direct limits, direct products, and extensions, then the class $dw \mathcal {C}$ is covering in Ch(R). Our first application concerns the class of Gorenstein flat modules. We show that when the ring R is two sided noetherian, a complex C is Gorenstein flat if and only if each module Cn is Gorenstein flat. If moreover every direct product of Gorenstein flat modules is a Gorenstein flat module, then the class of Gorenstein flat complexes is covering. We consider Gorenstein projective complexes as well. We prove that if R is a commutative noetherian ring of finite Krull dimension, then the class of Gorenstein projective complexes coincides with that of complexes of Gorenstein projective modules. We also show that if R is commutative noetherian with a dualizing complex then every right bounded complex has a Gorenstein projective precover.  相似文献

Given a significative class of commutative rings, we study the precise conditions under which a commutative ring R has an -envelope. A full answer is obtained when is the class of fields, semisimple commutative rings or integral domains. When is the class of Noetherian rings, we give a full answer when the Krull dimension of R is zero and when the envelope is required to be epimorphic. The general problem is reduced to identifying the class of non-Noetherian rings having a monomorphic Noetherian envelope, which we conjecture is the empty class.  相似文献

For a large class of rings A, including all rings with right Krull dimension, it is proved that for every automorphism ϕ of the ring A, the Jacobson radical of the skew Laurent series ring A((x, ϕ)) is nilpotent and coincides with N((x, ϕ)), where N is the prime radical of the ring A. If A/N is a ring of bounded index, then the Jacobson radical of the Laurent series ring A((x)) coincides with N((x)). __________ Translated from Fundamentalnaya i Prikladnaya Matematika, Vol. 12, No. 2, pp. 209–215, 2006.  相似文献

Let R be a ring, (S, ≤) a strictly ordered monoid and ω: S → End(R) a monoid homomorphism. The skew generalized power series ring R[[S, ω]] is a common generalization of (skew) polynomial rings, (skew) power series rings, (skew) Laurent polynomial rings, (skew) group rings, and Mal'cev–Neumann Laurent series rings. In this article, we study relations between the (quasi-) Baer, principally quasi-Baer and principally projective properties of a ring R, and its skew generalized power series extension R[[S, ω]]. As particular cases of our general results, we obtain new theorems on (skew) group rings, Mal'cev–Neumann Laurent series rings, and the ring of generalized power series.  相似文献

Let R be a ring, σ an injective endomorphism of R and δ a σ-derivation of R. We prove that if R is semiprime left Goldie then the same holds for the Ore extension R[x;σ,δ] and both rings have the same left uniform dimension. Presented by S.
