We show that a metrizable space Y is completely metrizable if there is a continuous surjection f:XY such that the images of open (clopen) subsets of the (0-dimensional paracompact) ?ech-complete space X are resolvable subsets of Y (in particular, e.g., the elements of the smallest algebra generated by open sets in Y).  相似文献

Abstract

We show that every map in the group G of self-homeomorphisms of the bisequence space can be approximated by homeomorphisms which “look like” the shift map and are expansive. By removing a certain open set of maps from G, we obtain a closed subspace M which contains all mixing maps. If φ · M then any shiftlike approximation to φ is topologically strong mixing. Thus the strong mixing expansive maps are dense in M. Further the weak mixing maps form a dense Gδ sets in M.  相似文献

In this paper we present a simple and unified approach to the fixed point results on cone symmetric spaces and metric type spaces based on symmetric spaces fixed point theory. We also give a new characterization of semi-metric spaces with open balls.  相似文献

A concept of convergence in geodesic spaces   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0
A CAT(0) space is a geodesic space for which each geodesic triangle is at least as ‘thin’ as its comparison triangle in the Euclidean plane. A notion of convergence introduced independently several years ago by Lim and Kuczumow is shown in CAT(0) spaces to be very similar to the usual weak convergence in Banach spaces. In particular many Banach space results involving weak convergence have precise analogues in this setting. At the same time, many questions remain open.  相似文献

We continue the study of Selectively Separable (SS) and, a game-theoretic strengthening, strategically selectively separable spaces (SS+) (see Barman, Dow (2011) [1]). The motivation for studying SS+ is that it is a property possessed by all separable subsets of Cp(X) for each σ-compact space X. We prove that the winning strategy for countable SS+ spaces can be chosen to be Markov. We introduce the notion of being compactlike for a collection of open sets in a topological space and with the help of this notion we prove that there are two countable SS+ spaces such that the union fails to be SS+, which contrasts the known result about SS spaces. We also prove that the product of two countable SS+ spaces is again countable SS+. One of the main results in this paper is that the proper forcing axiom, PFA, implies that the product of two countable Fréchet spaces is SS, a statement that was shown in Barman, Dow (2011) [1] to consistently fail. An auxiliary result is that it is consistent with the negation of CH that all separable Fréchet spaces have π-weight at most ω1.  相似文献

In this paper, we prove that if a remainder of a non-locally compact paratopological group G   has a GδGδ-diagonal and every compact subset of G is first countable, then G   has a GδGδ-diagonal of infinite rank. This improves a result of Chuan Liu and Shou Lin [Chuan Liu, Shou Lin, Generalized metric spaces with algebraic structure, Topology Appl. 157 (2010) 1966–1974]. We also construct an open continuous homomorphism f from a non-metrizable paratopological group G onto a metrizable topological group H such that the kernel of f is metrizable. This result gives a negative answer to an open problem posed in [A.V. Arhangel?skii, M. Tkachenko, Topological Groups and Related Structures, Atlantis Press, World Scientific, 2008].  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to discuss some basic problems of the fixed point theory for non-self (single-valued and multivalued) generalized contractions. As consequences, new open operator principles and domain invariance theorems are obtained. The results complement and extend some known results in the literature.  相似文献

We prove that every scattered space is hereditarily subcompact and any finite union of subcompact spaces is subcompact. It is a long-standing open problem whether every ?ech-complete space is subcompact. Moreover, it is not even known whether the complement of every countable subset of a compact space is subcompact. We prove that this is the case for linearly ordered compact spaces as well as for ω  -monolithic compact spaces. We also establish a general result for Tychonoff products of discrete spaces which implies that dense GδGδ-subsets of Cantor cubes are subcompact.  相似文献

We prove a fixed point theorem for a generalized weakly contractive mapping and a fixed point theorem for a pair of weakly contractive mappings. We also show that these mappings satisfy properties P and Q.  相似文献

The aim of this note is to prove the following result:Assume that f is a continuous function from the space of irrationals ωω onto Y such that the image f(U) of every set U which is open and closed in ωω is the union of one open and one closed set. Then Y is a completely metrizable space.  相似文献

Using the notations of convergent series of sets and convergent products of relations, general open mapping theorems are presented which encompass classical results of Banach, Ptak, Khanh, and others.  相似文献

We show that the subsemigroup of the product of ω1-many circles generated by the L-space constructed by J. Moore is again an L-space. This leads to a new example of a Lindelöf topological group. The question whether all finite powers of this group are Lindelöf remains open.  相似文献

We study CLP-compact spaces (every cover consisting of clopen sets has a finite subcover) and CLP-compact topological groups. In particular, we extend a theorem on CLP-compactness of products from [J. Steprāns, A. Šostak, Restricted compactness properties and their preservation under products, Topology Appl. 101 (3) (2000) 213-229] and we offer various criteria for CLP-compactness for spaces and topological groups, that work particularly well for precompact groups. This allows us to show that arbitrary products of CLP-compact pseudocompact groups are CLP-compact. For every natural n we construct:
(i)
a totally disconnected, n-dimensional, pseudocompact CLP-compact group; and
(ii)
a hereditarily disconnected, n-dimensional, totally minimal, CLP-compact group that can be chosen to be either separable metrizable or pseudocompact (a Hausdorff group G is totally minimal when all continuous surjective homomorphisms GH, with a Hausdorff group H, are open).

In this paper we investigate the role of domain representability and Scott-domain representability in the class of Moore spaces and the larger class of spaces with a base of countable order. We show, for example, that in a Moore space, the following are equivalent: domain representability; subcompactness; the existence of a winning strategy for player α (= the nonempty player) in the strong Choquet game Ch(X); the existence of a stationary winning strategy for player α in Ch(X); and Rudin completeness. We note that a metacompact ?ech-complete Moore space described by Tall is not Scott-domain representable and also give an example of ?ech-complete separable Moore space that is not co-compact and hence not Scott-domain representable. We conclude with a list of open questions.  相似文献

It is proved, by using topological properties, that when a group automorphism of a locally compact totally disconnected group is ergodic under the Haar measure, the group is compact. The result is an answer for Halmos's question that has remained open for the totally disconnected case.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the concept of local equivalence relation, a notion suggested by Grothendieck. A local equivalence relation on a topological space X is a global section of the sheaf of germs of equivalence relations on X. We investigate the extent to which a local equivalence relation can be described by a global one and analogously when can a global equivalence relation be recovered from its associated local one. We also look at the notion of a fiber map, which sheds further light on these concepts. A motivating example is that of a foliation on a manifold.  相似文献

The complete Boolean homomorphisms from the category algebra C(X) of a complete matrix space X to the category algebra C(Y) of a Baire topological space Y are characterized as those σ-homomorphisms which are induced by continuous maps from dense G8-subsets of Y into X. This result is used to deduce a series of related results in topology and measure theory (some of which are well-known). Finally a similar result for the complete Boolean homomorphisms from the category algebra C(X) of a compact Hausdorff space X tothe category algebra C(Y) of a Baire topological space Y is proved.  相似文献

In our main result we prove that a continuous function f:RR fixes a point iff does, where is the continuous extension of f over the ?ech-Stone compactification. In the second half of the paper the statement of this theorem with R replaced by an arbitrary X is taken for a definition of a property and a number of results about the property are proved.  相似文献
