Let H be a definite quaternion algebra over Q with discriminant DH and R a maximal order of H. We denote by Gn a quaternionic unitary group and put Γn=Gn(Q)∩GL2n(R). Let Sκ(Γn) be the space of cusp forms of weight κ with respect to Γn on the quaternion half-space of degree n. We construct a lifting from primitive forms in Sk(SL2(Z)) to Sk+2n−2(Γn) and a lifting from primitive forms in Sk(Γ0(d)) to Sk+2(Γ2), where d is a factor of DH. These liftings are generalizations of the Maass lifting investigated by Krieg.  相似文献

For an artinian ring R, the directed zero-divisor graph Γ(R) is connected if and only if there is no proper one-sided identity element in R. Sinks and sources are characterized and clarified for a finite ring R. Especially, it is proved that for any ring R, if there exists a source y in Γ(R) with y2=0, then |R|=4 and R={0,x,y,z}, where x and z are left identity elements and yx=0=yz. Such a ring R is also the only ring such that Γ(R) has exactly one source. This shows that Γ(R) cannot be a network for any finite or infinite ring R.  相似文献

Let G be a connected semisimple real algebraic group. Assume that G(R) has no compact factors and let Γ be a torsion-free uniform lattice subgroup of G(R). Then Γ contains a malnormal abelian subgroup A. This implies that the II1 factor VN(Γ) contains a masa A with Pukánszky invariant {∞}.  相似文献

A classical problem in constant mean curvature hypersurface theory is, for given H?0, to determine whether a compact submanifold Γn−1 of codimension two in Euclidean space , having a single valued orthogonal projection on Rn, is the boundary of a graph with constant mean curvature H over a domain in Rn. A well known result of Serrin gives a sufficient condition, namely, Γ is contained in a right cylinder C orthogonal to Rn with inner mean curvature HC?H. In this paper, we prove existence and uniqueness if the orthogonal projection Ln−1 of Γ on Rn has mean curvature and Γ is contained in a cone K with basis in Rn enclosing a domain in Rn containing Ln−1 such that the mean curvature of K satisfies HK?H. Our condition reduces to Serrin's when the vertex of the cone is infinite.  相似文献

This work is concerned with dynamical systems in presence of symmetries and reversing symmetries. We describe a construction process of subspaces that are invariant by linear Γ-reversible-equivariant mappings, where Γ is the compact Lie group of all the symmetries and reversing symmetries of such systems. These subspaces are the σ-isotypic components, first introduced by Lamb and Roberts in (1999) [10] and that correspond to the isotypic components for purely equivariant systems. In addition, by representation theory methods derived from the topological structure of the group Γ, two algebraic formulae are established for the computation of the σ-index of a closed subgroup of Γ. The results obtained here are to be applied to general reversible-equivariant systems, but are of particular interest for the more subtle of the two possible cases, namely the non-self-dual case. Some examples are presented.  相似文献

We establish the existence of universal G-spaces for proper actions of locally compact groups on Tychonoff spaces. A typical result sounds as follows: for each infinite cardinal number τ every locally compact, non-compact, σ-compact group G of weight w(G)?τ, can act properly on Rτ?{0} such that Rτ?{0} contains a G-homeomorphic copy of every Tychonoff proper G-space of weight ?τ. The metric cones Cone(G/H) with HG a compact subgroup such that G/H is a manifold, are the main building blocks in our approach. As a byproduct we prove that the cardinality of the set of all conjugacy classes of such subgroups HG does not exceed the weight of G.  相似文献

Following the notion of stability introduced by T. Kobayashi and S. Nasrin in [14], we show in the context of a threadlike Lie group G that any non-Abelian discrete subgroup is stable. One consequence is that any resulting deformation space ?(Γ,G,H) is a Hausdorff space, where Γ acts on the threadlike homogeneous space G/H as a discontinuous subgroup. Whenever k = rank(Γ) > 3, this space is also shown to be endowed with a smooth manifold structure. But if k = 3, then ?(Γ,G,H) admits a smooth manifold structure as its open dense subset. These phenomena are strongly linked to the features of adjoint orbits of the basis group G on the parameter space ?(Γ,G,H) (which is semi-algebraic in this case) and specifically to their dimensions, as it will be seen throughout the paper. This also allows to provide a proof of the Local Rigidity Conjecture in this setup.  相似文献

Let K be a fine hyperbolic graph and Γ be a group acting on K with finite quotient. We prove that Γ is exact provided that all vertex stabilizers are exact. In particular, a relatively hyperbolic group is exact if all its peripheral groups are exact. We prove this by showing that the group Γ acts amenably on a compact topological space. We include some applications to the theories of group von Neumann algebras and of measurable orbit equivalence relations.  相似文献

t Let F = Cay(G, S), R(G) be the right regular representation of G. The graph Г is called normal with respect to G, if R(G) is normal in the full automorphism group Aut(F) of F. Г is called a bi-normal with respect to G if R(G) is not normal in Aut(Г), but R(G) contains a subgroup of index 2 which is normal in Aut(F). In this paper, we prove that connected tetravalent edge-transitive Cayley graphs on PGL(2,p) are either normal or bi-normal when p ≠ 11 is a prime.  相似文献

The Isomorphism Conjecture is a conceptional approach towards a calculation of the algebraic K-theory of a group ring , where Γ is an infinite group. In this paper we prove the conjecture in dimensions n<2 for fundamental groups of closed Riemannian manifolds with strictly negative sectional curvature and arbitrary coefficient rings R. If R is regular this leads to a concrete calculation of low dimensional K-theory groups of in terms of the K-theory of R and the homology of the group.  相似文献

It is proved that if Γ is a compact, embedded hypersurface in a totally geodesic hypersurface ? n of ? n+1 satisfying the enclosing H-hypersphere condition with |H|<1, then there is one and only one (up to a reflection on ? n ) compact embedded constant mean curvature H hypersurface M such that ?M=Γ. Moreover, M is diffeomorphic to a ball.  相似文献

We study the topological and differentiable singularities of the configuration space C(Γ) of a mechanical linkage Γ in Rd, defining an inductive sufficient condition to determine when a configuration is singular. We show that this condition holds for generic singularities, provide a mechanical interpretation, and give an example of a type of mechanism for which this criterion identifies all singularities.  相似文献

The Grundy number of a graph G, denoted by Γ(G), is the largest k such that G has a greedyk-colouring, that is a colouring with k colours obtained by applying the greedy algorithm according to some ordering of the vertices of G. In this paper, we study the Grundy number of the lexicographic and cartesian products of two graphs in terms of the Grundy numbers of these graphs.Regarding the lexicographic product, we show that Γ(GΓ(H)≤Γ(G[H])≤2Γ(G)−1(Γ(H)−1)+Γ(G). In addition, we show that if G is a tree or Γ(G)=Δ(G)+1, then Γ(G[H])=Γ(GΓ(H). We then deduce that for every fixed c≥1, given a graph G, it is CoNP-Complete to decide if Γ(G)≤c×χ(G) and it is CoNP-Complete to decide if Γ(G)≤c×ω(G).Regarding the cartesian product, we show that there is no upper bound of Γ(GH) as a function of Γ(G) and Γ(H). Nevertheless, we prove that Γ(GH)≤Δ(G)⋅2Γ(H)−1+Γ(H).  相似文献

When an n×n doubly stochastic matrix A acts on Rn on the left as a linear transformation and P is an n-long probability vector, we refer to the new probability vector AP as the stochastic average of the pair (A,P). Let Γn denote the set of pairs (A,P) whose stochastic average preserves the entropy of P:H(AP)=H(P). Γn is a subset of Bn×Σn where Bn is the Birkhoff polytope and Σn is the probability simplex. We characterize Γn and determine its geometry, topology, and combinatorial structure. For example, we find that (A,P)∈Γn if and only if AtAP=P. We show that for any n, Γn is a connected set, and is in fact piecewise-linearly contractible in Bn×Σn. We write Γn as a finite union of product subspaces, in two distinct ways. We derive the geometry of the fibers (A,·) and (·,P) of Γn. Γ3 is worked out in detail. Our analysis exploits the convexity of xlogx and the structure of an efficiently computable bipartite graph that we associate to each ds-matrix. This graph also lets us represent such a matrix in a permutation-equivalent, block diagonal form where each block is doubly stochastic and fully indecomposable.  相似文献

Many authors have been concerned with embedding -like continua in Rn where is some collection of polyhedra or manifolds. A similar concern has been embedding -like continua in Rn up to shape. In this paper we prove two main theorems. Theorem: If n ? 2 and X is Tn-like, then X embeds in R2n. This result was conjectured by McCord for the case H1(X) finitely generated and proved by McCord for the case that H1(X) = 0 using a theorem of Isbell. The second theorem is a shape embedding theorem. Theorem: If X is Tn-like, then X embeds in Rn+2 up to shape. This theorem is proved by showing that an n-dimensional compact connected abelian topological group embeds in Rn+2. Any Tn-like continuum is shape equivalent to a k-dimensional compact connected abelian topological group for some 0 ? k ? n.  相似文献

Let R be any ring (with 1), Γ a group and RΓ the corresponding group ring. Let H be a subgroup of Γ of finite index. Let M be an RΓ-module, whose restriction to RH is projective.Moore's conjecture (J. Pure Appl. Algebra 7(1976)287): Assume for every nontrivial element x in Γ, at least one of the following two conditions holds:
(M1)
x〉∩H≠{e} (in particular this holds if Γ is torsion free)
(M2)
ord(x) is finite and invertible in R.
Then M is projective as an RΓ-module.More generally, the conjecture has been formulated for crossed products R*Γ and even for strongly graded rings R(Γ). We prove the conjecture for new families of groups, in particular for groups whose profinite completion is torsion free. The conjecture can be formulated for profinite modules M over complete groups rings [[RΓ]] where R is a profinite ring and Γ a profinite group. We prove the conjecture for arbitrary profinite groups. This implies Serre's theorem on cohomological dimension of profinite groups.  相似文献

The commuting graph of a ring R, denoted by Γ(R), is a graph whose vertices are all non-central elements of R and two distinct vertices x and y are adjacent if and only if xy = yx. Let D be a division ring and n ? 3. In this paper we investigate the diameters of Γ(Mn(D)) and determine the diameters of some induced subgraphs of Γ(Mn(D)), such as the induced subgraphs on the set of all non-scalar non-invertible, nilpotent, idempotent, and involution matrices in Mn(D). For every field F, it is shown that if Γ(Mn(F)) is a connected graph, then diam Γ(Mn(F)) ? 6. We conjecture that if Γ(Mn(F)) is a connected graph, then diam Γ(Mn(F)) ? 5. We show that if F is an algebraically closed field or n is a prime number and Γ(Mn(F)) is a connected graph, then diam Γ(Mn(F)) = 4. Finally, we present some applications to the structure of pairs of idempotents which may prove of independent interest.  相似文献
