If a (commutative unital) ring $A$ is reduced and coincides with its total quotient ring, then $A$ satisfies Property A (that is, $A$ is a McCoy ring) if and only if the inclusion of $A$ in its complete ring of quotients $C(A)$ is a survival extension. The ??if?? assertion fails if one deletes the hypothesis that $A$ is reduced. This is shown by using the idealization construction to construct a suitable ring $A$ and then identifying its complete ring of quotients (which turns out to be a related idealization). Related characterizations of von Neumann regular rings are also given with the aid of the going-down property GD of ring extensions. For instance, a ring $A$ is von Neumann regular if and only if $A$ is a reduced McCoy ring that coincides with its total quotient ring such that $A \subseteq C(A)$ satisfies GD.  相似文献

For a unital $C^{*}$ -algebra $A$ , we prove that the cohomology groups of $A$ -elliptic complexes of pseudodifferential operators in finitely generated projective $A$ -Hilbert bundles over compact manifolds are finitely generated $A$ -modules and Banach spaces provided the images of certain extensions of the so-called associated Laplacians are closed. We also prove that under this condition, the cohomology groups are isomorphic to the kernels of the associated Laplacians. This establishes a Hodge theory for these structures.  相似文献

In classical linear algebra, extending the ring of scalars of a free module gives rise to a new free module containing an isomorphic copy of the former and satisfying a certain universal property. Also, given two free modules on the same ring of scalars and a morphism between them, enlarging the ring of scalars results in obtaining a new morphism having the nice property that it coincides with the initial map on the isomorphic copy of the initial free module in the new one. We investigate these problems in the category of free ${\mathcal{A}}$ -modules, where ${\mathcal{A}}$ is an ${\mathbb{R}}$ -algebra sheaf. Complexification of free ${\mathcal{A}}$ -modules, which is defined to be the process of obtaining new free ${\mathcal{A}}$ -modules by enlarging the ${\mathbb{R}}$ -algebra sheaf ${\mathcal{A}}$ to a ${\mathbb{C}}$ -algebra sheaf, denoted ${\mathcal{A}_\mathbb{C}}$ , is an important particular case (see Proposition 2.1, Proposition 3.1). Attention, on the one hand, is drawn on the sub- ${_{\mathbb{R}}\mathcal{A}}$ -sheaf of almost complex structures on the sheaf ${{_\mathbb{R}}\mathcal{A}^{2n}}$ , the underlying ${\mathbb{R}}$ -algebra sheaf of a ${\mathbb{C}}$ -algebra sheaf ${\mathcal{A}}$ , and on the other hand, on the complexification of the functor ${\mathcal{H}om_\mathcal {A}}$ , with ${\mathcal{A}}$ an ${\mathbb{R}}$ -algebra sheaf.  相似文献

Let $D$ be an integral domain with quotient field $K$ . In this paper we study the algebra of polynomials in $K[x]$ which map the set of lower triangular $n\times n$ matrices with coefficients in $D$ into itself and show that it coincides with the algebra of polynomials whose divided differences of order $k$ map $D^{k+1}$ into $D$ for every $k< n$ . Using this result we describe the polynomial closure of this set of matrices when $D$ is the ring of integers in a global field.  相似文献

Let $F$ be a global function field over a finite constant field and $\infty $ a place of $F$ . The ring $A$ of functions regular away from $\infty $ in $F$ is a Dedekind domain. For such $A$ Goss defined a $\zeta $ -function which is a continuous function from $\mathbb{Z }_p$ to the ring of entire power series with coefficients in the completion $F_\infty $ of $F$ at $\infty $ . He asks what one can say about the distribution of the zeros of the entire function at any parameter of $\mathbb{Z }_p$ . In the simplest case $A$ is the polynomial ring in one variable over a finite field. Here the question was settled completely by J. Sheats, after previous work by J. Diaz-Vargas, B. Poonen and D. Wan: for any parameter in $\mathbb{Z }_p$ the zeros of the power series have pairwise different valuations and they lie in  $F_\infty $ . In the present article we completely determine the distribution of zeros for the simplest case different from polynomial rings, namely $A=\mathbb{F }\,\!{}_2[x,y]/(y^2+y+x^3+x+1)$ —this $A$ has class number $1$ , it is the affine coordinate ring of a supersingular elliptic curve and the place $\infty $ is $\mathbb{F }\,\!{}_2$ -rational. The answer is slightly different from the above case of polynomial rings. For arbitrary $A$ such that $\infty $ is a rational place of $F$ , we describe a pattern in the distribution of zeros which we observed in some computational experiments. Finally, we present some precise conjectures on the fields of rationality of these zeroes for one particular hyperelliptic $A$ of genus  $2$ .  相似文献

In the given article, enveloping C*-algebras of AJW-algebras are considered. Conditions are given, when the enveloping C*-algebra of an AJW-algebra is an AW*-algebra, and corresponding theorems are proved. In particular, we proved that if $\mathcal{A}$ is a real AW*-algebra, $\mathcal{A}_{sa}$ is the JC-algebra of all self-adjoint elements of $\mathcal{A}$ , $\mathcal{A}+i\mathcal{A}$ is an AW*-algebra and $\mathcal{A}\cap i\mathcal{A} = \{0\}$ then the enveloping C*-algebra $C^*(\mathcal{A}_{sa})$ of the JC-algebra $\mathcal{A}_{sa}$ is an AW*-algebra. Moreover, if $\mathcal{A}+i\mathcal{A}$ does not have nonzero direct summands of type I2, then $C^*(\mathcal{A}_{sa})$ coincides with the algebra $\mathcal{A}+i\mathcal{A}$ , i.e. $C^*(\mathcal{A}_{sa})= \mathcal{A}+i\mathcal{A}$ .  相似文献

The skewfield $\mathcal{K }(\partial )$ of rational pseudodifferential operators over a differential field $\mathcal{K }$ is the skewfield of fractions of the algebra of differential operators $\mathcal{K }[\partial ]$ . In our previous paper, we showed that any $H\in \mathcal{K }(\partial )$ has a minimal fractional decomposition $H=AB^{-1}$ , where $A,B\in \mathcal{K }[\partial ],\,B\ne 0$ , and any common right divisor of $A$ and $B$ is a non-zero element of $\mathcal{K }$ . Moreover, any right fractional decomposition of $H$ is obtained by multiplying $A$ and $B$ on the right by the same non-zero element of $\mathcal{K }[\partial ]$ . In the present paper, we study the ring $M_n(\mathcal{K }(\partial ))$ of $n\times n$ matrices over the skewfield $\mathcal{K }(\partial )$ . We show that similarly, any $H\in M_n(\mathcal{K }(\partial ))$ has a minimal fractional decomposition $H=AB^{-1}$ , where $A,B\in M_n(\mathcal{K }[\partial ]),\,B$ is non-degenerate, and any common right divisor of $A$ and $B$ is an invertible element of the ring $M_n(\mathcal{K }[\partial ])$ . Moreover, any right fractional decomposition of $H$ is obtained by multiplying $A$ and $B$ on the right by the same non-degenerate element of $M_n(\mathcal{K } [\partial ])$ . We give several equivalent definitions of the minimal fractional decomposition. These results are applied to the study of maximal isotropicity property, used in the theory of Dirac structures.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the notion of asymptotic spirallikeness in reflexive complex Banach spaces $X$ , and the connection with univalent subordination chains. Poreda initially introduced the notion of asymptotic starlikeness to characterize biholomorphic mappings on the unit polydisc in $\mathbb{C }^{n}$ which have parametric representation in the sense of Loewner theory. The authors introduced the notions of $A$ -asymptotic spirallikeness and $A$ -parametric representation on the Euclidean unit ball of $\mathbb{C }^{n}$ , where $A\in L(\mathbb{C }^{n})$ with $m(A)>0$ . They showed that these notions are equivalent whenever $k_+(A)<2m(A)$ . In this paper we prove that if $k_+(A)<2m(A)$ and $f\in S(B)$ has $A$ -parametric representation, then $f$ is also $A$ -asymptotically spirallike on the unit ball $B$ of $X$ . For the converse, we need the additional assumption that $f$ is a smooth $A$ -asymptotically spirallike mapping, except in the finite-dimensional case $X=\mathbb{C }^{n}$ with an arbitrary norm. The notion of asymptotic spirallikeness involves differential equations and may be regarded as giving a geometric characterization of certain domains in $X$ . That is one of the motivations for considering this notion in the case of reflexive complex Banach spaces.  相似文献

Let $\Phi $ be a continuous $n\times n$ matrix-valued function on the unit circle $\mathbb T $ such that the $(k-1)$ st singular value of the Hankel operator with symbol $\Phi $ is greater than the $k$ th singular value. In this case, it is well-known that $\Phi $ has a unique superoptimal meromorphic approximant $Q$ in $H^{\infty }_{(k)}$ ; that is, $Q$ has at most $k$ poles in the unit disc $\mathbb D $ (in the sense that the McMillan degree of $Q$ in $\mathbb D $ is at most $k$ ) and $Q$ minimizes the essential suprema of singular values $s_{j}\left((\Phi -Q)(\zeta )\right)\!, j\ge 0$ , with respect to the lexicographic ordering. For each $j\ge 0$ , the essential supremum of $s_{j}\left((\Phi -Q)(\zeta )\right)$ is called the $j$ th superoptimal singular value of degree $k$ of $\Phi $ . We prove that if $\Phi $ has $n$ non-zero superoptimal singular values of degree $k$ , then the Toeplitz operator $T_{\Phi -Q}$ with symbol $\Phi -Q$ is Fredholm and has index $$ \mathrm{ind}T_{\Phi -Q}=\dim \ker T_{\Phi -Q}=2k+\dim \mathcal E , $$ where $\mathcal E =\{ \xi \in \ker H_{Q}: \Vert H_{\Phi }\xi \Vert _{2}=\Vert (\Phi -Q)\xi \Vert _{2}\}$ and $H_{\Phi }$ denotes the Hankel operator with symbol $\Phi $ . This result can in fact be extended from continuous matrix-valued functions to the wider class of $k$ -admissible matrix-valued functions, i.e. essentially bounded $n\times n$ matrix-valued functions $\Phi $ on $\mathbb T $ for which the essential norm of the Hankel operator $H_{\Phi }$ is strictly less than the smallest non-zero superoptimal singular value of degree $k$ of $\Phi $ .  相似文献

Let $A$ be a commutative Noetherian ring and $P$ be a projective $A$ -module of rank $=(\text {dim}(A)-1)$ . An intriguing open question is to find the precise obstruction for $P$ to split as: $P\simeq Q\oplus A$ for some $A$ -module $Q$ . In this paper we settle this question when $A=R[T]$ for some ring $R$ containing the field of rationals and $P$ is a projective $A$ -module of rank $=\text {dim}(R)$ .  相似文献

We study the following two problems: (1) Given $n\ge 2$ and $0\le \alpha \le 180^\circ $ , how large Hausdorff dimension can a compact set $A\subset \mathbb{R }^n$ have if $A$ does not contain three points that form an angle $\alpha $ ? (2) Given $\alpha $ and $\delta $ , how large Hausdorff dimension can a subset $A$ of a Euclidean space have if $A$ does not contain three points that form an angle in the $\delta $ -neighborhood of $\alpha $ ? An interesting phenomenon is that different angles show different behaviour in the above problems. Apart from the clearly special extreme angles $0$ and $180^\circ $ , the angles $60^\circ , 90^\circ $ and $120^\circ $ also play special role in problem (2): the maximal dimension is smaller for these angles than for the other angles. In problem (1) the angle $90^\circ $ seems to behave differently from other angles.  相似文献

Let $X$ be a lattice ordered algebra ( $\ell $ -algebra). A positive element $x\in $ $X$ is said to be totally bounded if $x^{2}\le x$ . The $\ell $ -algebra $X$ is said to have a $\sigma $ -bounded approximate unit if for each positive linear functional $f$ on $X$ the set $\left\{ f(x)\text{: } x \text{ totally } \text{ bounded }\right\} $ is bounded in $\mathbb R $ . In this paper we study the class of $f$ -algebras with a $\sigma $ -bounded approximate unit which contains the class of all unital $f$ -algebras. In particular It is shown that an $f$ -algebra $X$ has a $\sigma $ -bounded approximate unit if and only if the order bidual $X^{\sim \sim }$ is a unital $f$ -algebra.  相似文献

Let $D$ be an integrally closed domain with quotient field $K$ and $n$ a positive integer. We give a characterization of the polynomials in $K[X]$ which are integer-valued over the set of matrices $M_n(D)$ in terms of their divided differences. A necessary and sufficient condition on $f\in K[X]$ to be integer-valued over $M_n(D)$ is that, for each $k$ less than $n$ , the $k$ th divided difference of $f$ is integral-valued on every subset of the roots of any monic polynomial over $D$ of degree $n$ . If in addition $D$ has zero Jacobson radical then it is sufficient to check the above conditions on subsets of the roots of monic irreducible polynomials of degree $n$ , that is, conjugate integral elements of degree $n$ over $D$ .  相似文献

We study the polynomial equations vanishing on tensors of a given rank. By means of polarization we reduce them to elements  $A$ of the group algebra ${\mathbb {Q}}[S_n\times S_n]$ and describe explicit linear equations on the coefficients of  $A$ to vanish on tensors of a given rank. Further, we reduce the study to the Schur ring over the group $S_n\times S_n$ that arises from the diagonal conjugacy action of  $S_n$ . More closely, we consider elements of ${\mathbb {Q}}[S_n\times S_n]$ vanishing on tensors of rank $n-1$ and describe them in terms of triples of Young diagrams, their irreducible characters, and nonvanishing of their Kronecker coefficients. Also, we construct a family of elements in ${\mathbb {Q}}[S_n\times S_n]$ vanishing on tensors of rank $n-1$ and illustrate our approach by a sharp lower bound on the border rank of an explicitly produced tensor. Finally, we apply this construction to prove a lower bound $5n^2/4$ on the border rank of the matrix multiplication tensor (being, of course, weaker than the best known one $(2-\epsilon )\cdot n^2$ , due to Landsberg, Ottaviani).  相似文献

Let $\mathrm{A }$ be a finitely generated semigroup with 0. An $\mathrm{A }$ -module over $\mathbb F _1$ (also called an $\mathrm{A }$ -set), is a pointed set $(M,*)$ together with an action of $\mathrm{A }$ . We define and study the Hall algebra $\mathbb H _{\mathrm{A }}$ of the category $\mathcal C _{\mathrm{A }}$ of finite $\mathrm{A }$ -modules. $\mathbb H _{\mathrm{A }}$ is shown to be the universal enveloping algebra of a Lie algebra $\mathfrak n _{\mathrm{A }}$ , called the Hall Lie algebra of $\mathcal C _{\mathrm{A }}$ . In the case of $\langle t \rangle $ —the free monoid on one generator $\langle t \rangle $ , the Hall algebra (or more precisely the Hall algebra of the subcategory of nilpotent $\langle t \rangle $ -modules) is isomorphic to Kreimer’s Hopf algebra of rooted forests. This perspective allows us to define two new commutative operations on rooted forests. We also consider the examples when $\mathrm{A }$ is a quotient of $\langle t \rangle $ by a congruence, and the monoid $G \cup \{ 0\}$ for a finite group $G$ .  相似文献

The classical Perron–Frobenius theory asserts that, for two matrices $A$ and $B$ , if $0\le B \le A$ and $r(A)=r(B)$ with $A$ being irreducible, then $A=B$ . It has been extended to infinite-dimensional Banach lattices under certain additional conditions, including that $r(A)$ is a pole of the resolvent of $A$ . In this paper, we prove that the same result holds if $B$ is irreducible and $r(B)$ is a pole of the resolvent for $B$ . We also prove some other interesting extensions of the theorem for infinite-dimensional Banach lattices.  相似文献

A geometric $k$ -configuration is a collection of points and straight lines in the plane so that $k$ points lie on each line and $k$ lines pass through this point. We introduce a new construction method for constructing $k$ -configurations with non-trivial dihedral or chiral (i.e., purely rotational) symmetry, for any $k \ge 3$ ; the configurations produced have $2^{k-2}$ symmetry classes of points and lines. The construction method produces the only known infinite class of symmetric geometric 7-configurations, the second known infinite class of symmetric geometric 6-configurations, and the only known 6-configurations with chiral symmetry.  相似文献

Let ${\mathcal{A}}$ be a collection of n linear hyperplanes in ${\mathbb{k}^\ell}$ , where ${\mathbb{k}}$ is an algebraically closed field. The Orlik-Terao algebra of ${\mathcal{A}}$ is the subalgebra ${{\rm R}(\mathcal{A})}$ of the rational functions generated by reciprocals of linear forms vanishing on hyperplanes of ${\mathcal{A}}$ . It determines an irreducible subvariety ${Y (\mathcal{A})}$ of ${\mathbb{P}^{n-1}}$ . We show that a flat X of ${\mathcal{A}}$ is modular if and only if ${{\rm R}(\mathcal{A})}$ is a split extension of the Orlik-Terao algebra of the subarrangement ${\mathcal{A}_X}$ . This provides another refinement of Stanley’s modular factorization theorem [34] and a new characterization of modularity, similar in spirit to the fibration theorem of [27]. We deduce that if ${\mathcal{A}}$ is supersolvable, then its Orlik-Terao algebra is Koszul. In certain cases, the algebra is also a complete intersection, and we characterize when this happens.  相似文献
