Diffusion in pore fractals: A review of linear response models   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
A major aspect of describing transport in heterogeneous media has been that of relating effective diffusivities to the topological properties of the medium. While such effective transport coefficients may be useful for mass fractals or under steady state conditions, they are not adequate under transient conditions for self-similar pore fractal media. In porous formations without scale, diffusion is anomalous with the mean-squared displacement of a particle proportional to time raised to a fractional exponent less than unity. The objective of this review is to investigate the nature of the laws of diffusion in fractal media using the framework of linear response theory of nonequilibrium statistical mechanics. A Langevin/Fokker-Planck approach reveals that the particle diffusivity depends on its age defined as the time spent by the particle since its entry into the medium. An analysis via generalized hydrodynamics describes fractal diffusion with a frequency and wave number dependent diffusivity.  相似文献

We study the nonequilibrium thermodynamics of two-phase media with nonequilibrium phase transitions. Assuming local (point) equilibrium within the limits of the phase and assuming mass additivity of the mixture entropy with respect to the phases, we obtain an expression for the mixture entropy production.We consider the motion of such media and derive formulas for the thermodynamic friction forces, heat transfer, condensation, and evaporation.In conclusion the author wishes to thank V. The role of two different definitions of temperature in nonequilibrium steady states (a kinetic one and a thermodynamic one) is examined in connection with thermostats used in nonequilibrium molecular dynamics to remove the dissipated heat in computer simulations of steady sheared fluids. The analysis is macroscopic, but it has also a microscopic root in information theory, and it deals with ideal gases and with dense fluids. The relevance of these temperatures and thermostats in the analysis of Maxwell relations following from nonequilibrium macroscopic thermodynamic potentials is explicitly studied.  相似文献

The classical constitutive relations for multiphase flows in porous media assume instantaneous and local phase-equilibrium. Several alternative nonequilibrium/dynamic constitutive relations have been proposed in the literature including the works of Barenblatt, and Hassanizadeh and Gray. This work applies a Bayesian model selection framework in order to examine the relative efficacy of these three models to represent experimental observations. Experimental observations of multiphase displacement processes in natural porous media are often sparse and indirect, leading to considerable uncertainty in control conditions. Data from three core-scale drainage experiments are considered. Gaussian prior probability models are assumed for key multiphase flow parameters and measurements. Accurate numerical simulation approximations using the three constitutive relation models are implemented. The model selection analysis comprises a data-assimilation stage that calibrates the assumed model to the data while quantifying uncertainty. The second stage is the computation of the maximum likelihood estimate and its application to compute the Bayesian Information Criterion. It is observed that Barenblatt’s nonequilibrium model is more likely to match data from unstable displacements that involve higher viscosity ratios of the invading phase to the resident fluid. At the lowest viscosity ratio, there is no delineation between the goodness of fit obtained using the classical model and the model proposed by Hassanizadeh and Gray, and both outperform Barenblatt’s nonequilibrium model.  相似文献

Darcy's flow of a weakly compressible fluid through double porosity media is studied in the framework of the homogenization theory. In previous papers, various classes of single-phase flow have been detected with various determination of the effective permeability tensor for each class. In this paper, the full model including transient phenomena is developed, where the macroscale momentum balance equation represents a modification of Darcy's law with a nonequilibrium term. The effective permeability tensor appears to be nonstationary and is changing during the system evolution in time. Three relaxation times characterize the transient transformations of each component of the macroscale flow velocity.This effect is superposed with the second relaxation phenomenon caused by the exchange flow between dense blocks and the highly conductive matrix. The relaxation times for the effective permeability and for the exchange flow are shown to have different orders.All relaxation parameters are explicitly determined through solutions of cell problems.  相似文献

This study applies the theory of characteristics to a one-dimensional transient model, in order to analyze the conditions for a choked, two-phase flow. The basic hydrodynamic model analyzed is a two-fluid model that includes relative phasic acceleration terms and a nonequilibrium, derivative-dependent exchange of mass.

The analytical results provide an algebraic, choked-flow criterion analogous to that for a single-phase flow, except that terms pertaining to relative phase motion and nonequilibrium mass transfer are included.

This paper discusses the numerical implementation of the choked-flow criterion in a nonhomogeneous and nonequilibrium finite difference scheme. The use of a mass-transfer model having a derivative dependence is shown to be necessary if self-choking is expected.  相似文献

The constitutive relations of gases in a thermal nonequilibrium (rarefied and microscale) can be derived by applying the moment method to the Boltzmann equation. In this work, a model constitutive relation determined on the basis of the moment method is developed and applied to some challenging problems in which classical hydrodynamic theories including the Navier–Stokes–Fourier theory are shown to predict qualitatively wrong results. Analysis of coupled nonlinear constitutive models enables the fundamentals of gas flows in thermal nonequilibrium to be identified: namely, nonlinear, asymmetric, and coupled relations between stresses and the shear rate; and effect of the bulk viscosity. In addition, the new theory explains the central minimum of the temperature profile in a force-driven Poiseuille gas flow, which is a well-known problem that renders the classical hydrodynamic theory a global failure.  相似文献

Molecules of different species mix by local rearrangement and long-range migration. Under certain conditions, the molecules are partially jammed: they rearrange slowly, but migrate fast. Here we formulate a theory of mixing when the long-range migration of molecules is fast, and the local rearrangement of molecules sets the time needed for mixing. In this limit, the time needed for mixing is independent of the length scale of inhomogeneity. We identify three modes of local rearrangement: shear, dilation, and swap. All three modes break and form intermolecular bonds. We place the three modes on equal footing, as distinct, concurrent, nonequilibrium processes. Our theory thus removes the bias that assumes local chemical equilibrium but allows the nonequilibrium process of shear. We propose a kinetic model of four independent viscosity-like coefficients, and a thermodynamic model of ideal mixing of molecules of unequal sizes and nonzero volume of mixing. We illustrate the theory with several examples, including the development of growth stress, the homogenization of a bilayer, and the disappearance of an inclusion in a matrix.  相似文献

从固体力学所面临的新的挑战------多物理、多尺度耦合及其现状的描述开始, 以层裂 过程为例, 说明了这些多尺度非平衡问题的基本困难在于, 在固体中不同尺度上有不同的微 结构层次及不同的演化物理和速率. 接下来, 概述了一些针对这一困难的独特的思路及 其成果. 第3部分强调了一些统计平均方法的范式, 以及处理包含多个时间和空间尺度的问 题的新思路, 特别是非平衡损伤演化导致宏观失效的问题. 在第4部分, 简要评述了一些连 接多个空间和时间尺度的细观力学框架, 如位错理论, 物理细观力学, Weibull理论, 随机 理论等, 并且阐述了其中蕴含的跨尺度耦合的机理. 然后, 在第5部分, 回到了描述损 伤演化过程的框架, 也就是统计细观损伤力学以及它的跨尺度封闭近似. 基于这些跨尺度框 架, 在第6部分, 对控制跨尺度耦合的可能机理进行了评述和比较. 由于对失效时灾变 的洞察与跨尺度强耦合紧密相关, 一些非平衡和强相互作用的新概念在第7部分进行了讨 论. 最后, 以一个简短的总结和一些建议结束.  相似文献

A multiphase flow and transport numerical model is developed to study the effects of porous media heterogeneities on residual NAPL mass partitioning and transport of dissolved and/or volatilized NAPL mass in variably saturated media. The results indicate the significance of porous media heterogeneity in influencing the mass transfer processes and NAPL transport in the subsurface. Among the parameters investigated in this study, the heterogeneity of the permeability field has the most significant influence on the NAPL mass partitioning and transport. In general, the heterogeneity of the porous media properties enhances the NAPL mass plume spreading in both the water phase and the gas phase while the influence on the water phase is much more significant. Overall, the porous media property heterogeneities tend to increase the accumulation of NAPL mass in the water phase. The nonequilibrium mass transfer processes result in the expected trend of decreasing the NAPL mass dissipation rate and causing long-term groundwater contamination.  相似文献

Driving forces for dislocation motion and nucleation in finite-deformation field dislocation mechanics are derived. The former establishes a rigorous analog of the Peach-Koehler force of classical elastic dislocation theory in a nonlinear, nonequilibrium field-theoretic context; the latter is a prediction of the theory. The structure of the stress response and permanent distortion are also derived. Sufficient boundary and initial conditions are indicated, and invariance under superposed rigid motions is discussed. Hyperelasticity and finite-deformation elastic theory of dislocations are shown to be special cases of the framework. Owing to the nonlocal nature of the theory, the results as well as the methods used to derive them appear to be novel.  相似文献

提出一种保持热力学一致性的扩散界面模型,用来数值模拟固体炸药爆轰与惰性介质的相互作用问题。基于混合网格内各组分物质间可以达到力学平衡状态而不能达到热学平衡状态的假设,由混合网格能量守恒以及压力相等条件,推导出每种组分物质的体积分数演化方程。由此获得的扩散界面模型包括组分物质的质量守恒方程、混合物质的动量及总能量守恒方程,同时包括组分物质的体积分数演化方程和混合物质的压力演化方程。该扩散界面模型的主要特点是考虑了化学反应以及热学非平衡的影响。提出的扩散界面模型在物质界面附近不会出现物理量的非物理振荡现象、适用于任意表达形式的物质状态方程以及任意数目的惰性介质。

Conventional linear theory of nonequilibrium and equilibrium gas flows yields correct results only for very small deviations of the stream parameters from the unperturbed values. Moreover, if in linearization we take the coordinates in planar flow as independent variables, then the flow past concave and convex corners is described in exactly the same fashion. In this case the characteristic emanating from the corner is (depending on the type of corner) a compression or rarefaction shock. In the case of a break in the wall of an axisymmetric channel the shock intensity approaches infinity with approach to the centerline, which indicates a deficiency of this type of linear theory. In the following we use a modification which eliminates the deficiencies noted above. This involves conversion to new independent and dependent variables such that the coefficients of the exact equations being linearized become weakly varying functions of the unknown parameters, the linearized boundary conditions coincide with the exact conditions at all or part of the boundaries, and the rarefaction shocks become rarefaction wave bundles of finite width. The last condition is achieved as a result of the fact that, in accordance with the Lighthill method of deformable coordinates [1], we take as one of the independent variables a quantity which maintains a constant value on each characteristic of the bundle of characteristics emanating from the break point [for equilibrium flows the semicharacteristic (or characteristic) independent variables were used in deriving the linear theory, for example, in [2–4]]. The study was based on the example of two-dimensional stationary nonequilibrium flow of an inviscid and nonheatconducting gas. In this case we find that boththelinear equations at a finite distance from the walls and the boundary conditions for determining the potential and nonequilibrium parameters outside the rarefaction wave bundles coincide with the equations and the conditions of conventional linear theory [5], while the relations associating the values of the parameters on the closing characteristics of each bundle (outside the bundles the same value of the characteristic variable corresponds to these characteristics) at some distance from the axis or from some reflecting surface are identical to the conditions on the rarefaction shocks. This fact makes it possible to use several results of conventional linear theory.  相似文献
