A nonlinear kinematic hardening rule is developed here within the framework of thermodynamic principles. The derived kinematic hardening evolution equation has three distinct terms: two strain hardening terms and a dynamic recovery term that operates at all times. The proposed hardening rule, which is referred in this paper as the FAPC (Fredrick and Armstrong–Phillips–Chaboche) kinematic hardening rule, shows a combined form of the Frederick and Armstrong backstress evolution equation, Phillips evolution equation, and Chaboche series rule. A new term is incorporated into the Frederick and Armstrong evolution equation that appears to have agreement with the experimental observations that show the motion of the center of the yield surface in the stress space is directed between the gradient to the surface at the stress point and the stress rate direction at that point. The model is further modified in order to simulate nonproportional cyclic hardening by proposing a measure representing the degree of nonproportionality of loading. This measure represents the topology of the incremental stress path. Numerically, it represents the angle between the current stress increment and the previous stress increment, which is interpreted through the material constants of the kinematic hardening evolution equation. This new kinematic hardening rule is incorporated in a material constitutive model based on the von Mises plasticity type and the Chaboche isotropic hardening type. Numerical integration of the incremental elasto-plastic constitutive equations is based on a simple semi-implicit return-mapping algorithm and the full Newton–Raphson iterative method is used to solve the resulting nonlinear equations. Experimental simulations are conducted for proportional and non-proportional cyclic loadings. The model shows good correlation with the experimental results.  相似文献

In this paper a finite deformation constitutive model for rigid plastic hardening materials based on the logarithmic strain tensor is introduced. The flow rule of this constitutive model relates the corotational rate of the logarithmic strain tensor to the difference of the deviatoric Cauchy stress and the back stress tensors. The evolution equation for the kinematic hardening of this model relates the corotational rate of the back stress tensor to the corotational rate of the logarithmic strain tensor. Using Jaumann, Green–Naghdi, Eulerian and logarithmic corotational rates in the proposed constitutive model, stress–strain responses and subsequent yield surfaces are determined for rigid plastic kinematic and isotropic hardening materials in the simple shear problem at finite deformations.  相似文献

Relaxation experiments for metallic materials and solid polymers have exhibited nonlinear dependence of stress relaxation on prior loading rate; the relaxed stress associated with the fastest prior strain rate has the smallest magnitude at the end of the same relaxation periods. Modeling capability for the basic feature of relaxation behavior is qualitatively investigated in the context of unified state variable theory. Unified constitutive models are categorized into three general classes according to the rate dependence of kinematic hardening rule, which defines the evolution of the back (equilibrium) stress and is the major difference among constitutive models. The first class of models adopts the nonlinear kinematic hardening rule proposed by Armstrong and Frederick. In this class, the back stress appears to be rate-independent under loading and subsequent relaxation conditions. In the second class of models, a stress rate term is incorporated into the Armstrong–Frederick rule and the back stress then becomes rate-dependent during relaxation condition even though it remains rate-independent under loading condition. The final class proposed here includes a new nonlinear kinematic hardening rule that causes the back stress to be rate-dependent all the time. It is shown that the apparent rate dependence of the back stress during relaxation enables constitutive models to predict the influence of prior loading rate on relaxation behavior.  相似文献

The objective of this article is to suggest new Eulerian rate type constitutive models for isotropic finite deformation elastoplasticity with isotropic hardening, kinematic hardening and combined isotropic-kinematic hardening etc. The main novelty of the suggested models is the use of the newly discovered logarithmic stress rate and the incorporation of a simple, natural explicit integrable-exactly rate type formulation of general hyperelasticity. Each new model is thus subjected to no incompatibility of rate type formulation for elastic behaviour with the notion of elasticity, as encountered by any other existing Eulerian rate type model for elastoplasticity or hypoelasticity. As particular cases, new Prandtl-Reuss equations for elastic-perfect plasticity and elastoplasticity with isotropic hardening, kinematic hardening and combined isotropic-kinematic hardening, respectively, are presented for computational and practical purposes. Of them, the equations for kinematic hardening and combined isotropic–kinematic hardening are, respectively, reduced to three uncoupled equations with respect to the spherical stress component, the shifted stress and the back-stress. The effects of finite rotation on the current strain and stress and hardening behaviour are indicated in a clear and direct manner. As illustrations, finite simple shear responses for the proposed models are studied by means of numerical integration. Further, it is proved that, among all possible (infinitely many) objective Eulerian rate type models, the proposed models are not only the first, but unique, self-consistent models of their kinds, in the sense that the rate type equation used to represent elastic behaviour is exactly integrable to really deliver an elastic relation. ©  相似文献

In this paper a constitutive model for rigid-plastic hardening materials based on the Hencky logarithmic strain tensor and its corotational rates is introduced. The distortional hardening is incorporated in the model using a distortional yield function. The flow rule of this model relates the corotational rate of the logarithmic strain to the difference of the Cauchy stress and the back stress tensors employing deformation-induced anisotropy tensor. Based on the Armstrong–Fredrick evolution equation the kinematic hardening constitutive equation of the proposed model expresses the corotational rate of the back stress tensor in terms of the same corotational rate of the logarithmic strain. Using logarithmic, Green–Naghdi and Jaumann corotational rates in the proposed constitutive model, the Cauchy and back stress tensors as well as subsequent yield surfaces are determined for rigid-plastic kinematic, isotropic and distortional hardening materials in the simple shear deformation. The ability of the model to properly represent the sign and magnitude of the normal stress in the simple shear deformation as well as the flattening of yield surface at the loading point and its orientation towards the loading direction are investigated. It is shown that among the different cases of using corotational rates and plastic deformation parameters in the constitutive equations, the results of the model based on the logarithmic rate and accumulated logarithmic strain are in good agreement with anticipated response of the simple shear deformation.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with two multi-mechanism based models for application to ratchetting effect. The 2M1C (2 Mechanisms and 1 Criterion) model and 2M2C (2 Mechanisms and Criteria) model, proposed by the authors in a previous article, are modified to incorporate (i) a corrective term in the computation of the local stresses; (ii) Burlet–Cailletaud’s fading memory term in the kinematic hardening evolution rule. Experimental data from the literature are selected to assess the models capability. Numerical results are obtained using the proposed models for a series of uni-axial and multi-axial ratchetting tests performed at different stress ranges of an austenitic stainless steel.  相似文献

Waves that occur at the surface of a falling film of thin power-law fluid on a vertical plane are investigated. Using the method of integral relations an evolution equation is derived for two types of waves equation which are possible under long wave approximation. This equation reveals the presence of both kinematic and dynamic wave processes which may either act together or singularly dominate the wave field depending on the order of different parameters. It is shown that, at a small flow rate, kinematic waves dominate the flow field and the energy is acquired from the mean flow during the interaction of the waves, while, for high flow rate, inertial waves dominate and the energy comes from the kinematic waves. It is also found that this exchange of energy between kinematic and inertial waves strongly depends on the power-law index n. Linear stability analysis predicts the contribution of different terms in the wave mechanism. Further, it is found that the surface tension plays a double role: for a kinematic wave process, it exerts dissipative effects so that a finite amplitude case may be established, but for a dynamic wave process it yields dispersion. Further, it is shown that the non-Newtonian character n plays a vital role in controlling the role of the term that contains surface tension in the above processes.  相似文献

Internal state variable rate equations are cast in a continuum framework to model void nucleation, growth, and coalescence in a cast Al–Si–Mg aluminum alloy. The kinematics and constitutive relations for damage resulting from void nucleation, growth, and coalescence are discussed. Because damage evolution is intimately coupled with the stress state, internal state variable hardening rate equations are developed to distinguish between compression, tension, and torsion straining conditions. The scalar isotropic hardening equation and second rank tensorial kinematic hardening equation from the Bammann–Chiesa–Johnson (BCJ) Plasticity model are modified to account for hardening rate differences under tension, compression, and torsion. A method for determining the material constants for the plasticity and damage equations is presented. Parameter determination for the proposed phenomenological nucleation rate equation, motivated from fracture mechanics and microscale physical observations, involves counting nucleation sites as a function of strain from optical micrographs. Although different void growth models can be included, the McClintock void growth model is used in this study. A coalescence model is also introduced. The damage framework is then evaluated with respect to experimental tensile data of notched Al–Si–Mg cast aluminum alloy specimens. Finite element results employing the damage framework are shown to illustrate its usefulness.  相似文献

In this paper, a constitutive model with a temperature and strain rate dependent flow stress (Bergstrom hardening rule) and modified Armstrong-Frederick kinematic evolution equation for elastoplastic hardening materials is introduced. Based on the multiplicative decomposition of the deformation gradient, new kinematic relations for the elastic and plastic left stretch tensors as well as the plastic deformation-dependent spin tensor are proposed. Also, a closed-form solution has been obtained for the elastic and plastic left stretch tensors for the simple shear problem. To evaluate model validity, results are compared with known experimental data for SUS 304 stainless steel, which shows a good agreement with the results of the proposed theoretical model. Finally, the stress-deformation curve, as predicted by the model, is plotted for the simple shear problem at room and elevated temperatures using the same material properties for AA5754-O aluminium alloy.  相似文献

In order to predict the deformations under multi-axial and multi-path loadings in a phenomenological framework, a new rotational-isotropic-kinematic (RIK) hardening model has been suggested in the theory part of the paper combining isotropic, kinematic and rotational hardening. Essential features of this material model are Armstrong–Frederick type backstress components for kinematic hardening and a plastic spin for the rotational hardening describing the evolution of the symmetry axes of the anisotropic yield function. The purpose of this article is to illustrate the significance of the RIK hardening model in sheet metal forming applications as well as in springback predictions. With the rotational hardening and a correction term related to the kinematic hardening, the flow stress in each orientation can be described with few material parameters. Several benchmark problems are considered to illustrate and assess the performance of the RIK hardening model in comparison with other hardening models and experimental results.  相似文献

In polar oceans, seawater freezes to form a layer of sea ice of several metres thickness that can cover up to 8% of the Earth’s surface. The modelled sea ice cover state is described by thickness and orientational distribution of interlocking, anisotropic diamond-shaped ice floes delineated by slip lines, as supported by observation. The purpose of this study is to develop a set of equations describing the mean-field sea ice stresses that result from interactions between the ice floes and the evolution of the ice floe orientation, which are simple enough to be incorporated into a climate model. The sea ice stress caused by a deformation of the ice cover is determined by employing an existing kinematic model of ice floe motion, which enables us to calculate the forces acting on the ice floes due to crushing into and sliding past each other, and then by averaging over all possible floe orientations. We describe the orientational floe distribution with a structure tensor and propose an evolution equation for this tensor that accounts for rigid body rotation of the floes, their apparent re-orientation due to new slip line formation, and change of shape of the floes due to freezing and melting. The form of the evolution equation proposed is motivated by laboratory observations of sea ice failure under controlled conditions. Finally, we present simulations of the evolution of sea ice stress and floe orientation for several imposed flow types. Although evidence to test the simulations against is lacking, the simulations seem physically reasonable.  相似文献

A kinematic hardening model applicable to finite strains is presented. The kinematic hardening concept is based on the residual stresses that evolve due to different obstacles that are present in a polycrystalline material, such as grain boundaries, cross slips, etc. Since these residual stresses are a manifestation of the distortion of the crystal lattice a corresponding deformation gradient is introduced to represent this distortion. The residual stresses are interpreted in terms of the form of a back-stress tensor, i.e. the kinematic hardening model is based on a deformation gradient which determines the back-stress tensor. A set of evolution equations is used to describe the evolution of the deformation gradient. Non-dissipative quantities are allowed in the model and the implications of these are discussed. Von Mises plasticity for which the uniaxial stress–strain relation can be obtained in closed form serves as a model problem. For uniaxial loading, this model yields a kinematic hardening identical to the hardening produced by isotropic exponential hardening. The numerical implementation of the model is discussed. Finite element simulations showing the capabilities of the model are presented.  相似文献

We construct in the present paper constitutive models for bone remodeling based on micromechanical analyses at the scale of a representative unit cell (RUC) including a porous trabecular microstructure. The time evolution of the microstructure is simulated as a surface remodeling process by relating the surface growth remodeling velocity to a surface driving force incorporating a (surface) Eshelby tensor. Adopting the framework of irreversible thermodynamics, a 2D constitutive model based on the setting up of the free energy density and a dissipation potential is identified from FE simulations performed over a unit cell representative of the trabecular architecture obtained from real bone microstructures. The static and evolutive effective properties of bone at the scale of the RUC are obtained by combining a methodology for the evaluation of the average kinematic and static variables over a prototype unit cell and numerical simulations with controlled imposed first gradient rates. The formulated effective growth constitutive law at the scale of the homogenized set of trabeculae within the RUC is of viscoplastic type and relates the average growth strain rate to the homogenized stress tensor. The postulated model includes a power law function of an effective stress chosen to depend on the first and second stress invariants. The model coefficients are calibrated from a set of virtual testing performed over the RUC subjected to a sequence of loadings. Numerical simulations show that overall bone growth does not show any growth kinematic hardening. The obtained results quantify the strength and importance of different types of external loads (uniaxial tension, simple shear, and biaxial loading) on the overall remodeling process and the development of elastic deformations within the RUC.  相似文献

A framework for phenomenological hyperelasto-plasticity with initial anisotropy, kinematic hardening as well as anisotropic damage is presented in [Menzel et al., Int. J. Plasticity (2004), in press]. In this contribution, we exploit and extend this framework to include several back-stresses in order to capture the ratcheting response of polycrystalline metals subjected to cyclic stress with non-zero mid-value. The evolution equations for kinematic hardening resemble a linear combination of the multiple-Armstrong–Frederick and the Burlet–Cailletaud models, which are extended to the large strain setting. The capability of the model to capture various phenomenological characteristics, in particular multi-axial ratcheting, is illustrated by numerical examples. Comparisons with uni-axial and bi-axial experimental ratcheting results for carbon steel are given. Finally, the finite element analysis of a simplified railway turnout component subjected to cyclic loading is presented.  相似文献

A fundamental problem on the constitutive equation with fractional derivatives for the generalized upper convected Maxwell model (UCM) is studied. The existing investigations on the constitutive equation are reviewed and their limitations or deficiencies are highlighted. By utilizing the convected coordinates approach, a mathematically rigorous constitutive equation with fractional derivatives for the generalized UCM model is proposed, which has an explicit expression for the stress tensor. This model can be reduced to the linear generalized Maxwell model with fractional derivatives, the UCM model and some other existing models. In addition, the rheological properties of this proposed model in the start-up of simple shear and elongation flows are investigated. It is shown that this generalized UCM model can describe the various stress evolution processes and the strain hardening effect of the viscoelastic fluids.  相似文献

Extremal paths for endochronic constitutive equations without using a yield surface and the corresponding principle of minimum potential work were obtained in Part I of this article. In this paper, the extremal properties of endochronic constitutive equation with a yield surface and the corresponding method for deformation bound analysis are proposed. An example is presented that demonstrates that the application of endochronic constitutive models to simplified analysis is not significantly different from classical models due to the derived extremal properties. The adopted constitutive model involves both nonlinear isotropic and kinematic hardening, which may provide more accurate results in simplified and bounding analysis.  相似文献
