In this short note, we show the illposedness of anisotropic Schroedinger equation in L^2 if the growth of nonlinearity is larger than a threshold power pc which is also the critical power for blowup, as Fibich, Ilan and Schochet have pointed out recently. The illposedness in anisotropic Sobolev space Hk,d-d^2s,s where 0 〈 s 〈 sc, sc =d/2-k/4-2/p-1, and the illposedness in Sobolev space of negative order H^s, s 〈 0 are also proved.  相似文献

The knowledge of the principal refractive indices and their dependence on the applied stress is the starting point for any experimental analysis of transparent crystals. Because for strongly anisotropic crystals and a general state of stress an explicit analytical solution can be difficult to obtain, then we need some approximated solutions. Here, we propose a coherent approximation procedure that generalizes results already obtained and give a simple example of application.  相似文献

Directional, anisotropic features like layers in the solution of partial differential equations can be resolved favorably by using anisotropic finite element meshes. An adaptive algorithm for such meshes includes the ingredients Error estimation and Information extraction/Mesh refinement. Related articles on a posteriori error estimation on anisotropic meshes revealed that reliable error estimation requires an anisotropic mesh that is aligned with the anisotropic solution. To obtain anisotropic meshes the so‐called Hessian strategy is used, which provides information such as the stretching direction and stretching ratio of the anisotropic elements. This article combines the analysis of anisotropic information extraction/mesh refinement and error estimation (for several estimators). It shows that the Hessian strategy leads to well‐aligned anisotropic meshes and, consequently, reliable error estimation. The underlying heuristic assumptions are given in a stringent yet general form. Numerical examples strengthen the exposition. Hence the analysis provides further insight into a particular aspect of anisotropic error estimation. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The scattering problem of a plane or a point source generated wave is considered for the case where both the medium of propagation and the interior of the scatterer exhibit their own anisotropies. A particular redirected gradient operator is introduced, which carries all directional characteristics of the anisotropic medium. Once the fundamental solution is obtained, integral representations for the scattered as well as for the interior and the total fields are generated. For such media even the handling of the singularities, in generating integral representations, depends on the characteristics of the particular medium. A modified, also medium dependent, radiation condition is introduced. Detailed asymptotic analysis leads to an integral representation for the scattering amplitude. In the 1970's,Folland and Stein studied a family of subelliptic scalar operators L_λwhich arise naturally in the(?)_b-complex.They introduced weighted Sobolev spaces as the natural spaces for this complex,and then obtained sharp estimates for(?)b in these spaces using integral kernels and approximate inverses.In the 1990's,Rumin introduced a differential complex for compact contact manifolds,showed that the Folland-Stein operators are central to the analysis for the corresponding Laplace operator,and derived the necessary estimates for the Laplacian from the Folland Stein analysis. In this paper,we give a self-contained derivation of sharp estimates in the anisotropic Folland-Stein spaces for the operators studied by Rumin using integration by parts and a modified approach to bootstrapping.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce the magnitude, orientation, and anisotropic ratio for the higher order derivative (with ) of a function to characterize its anisotropic behavior. The magnitude is equivalent to its usual Euclidean norm. The orientation is the direction along which the absolute value of the -th directional derivative is about the smallest, while along its perpendicular direction it is about the largest. The anisotropic ratio measures the strength of the anisotropic behavior of . These quantities are invariant under translation and rotation of the independent variables. They correspond to the area, orientation, and aspect ratio for triangular elements. Based on these measures, we derive an anisotropic error estimate for the piecewise polynomial interpolation over a family of triangulations that are quasi-uniform under a given Riemannian metric. Among the meshes of a fixed number of elements it is identified that the interpolation error is nearly the minimum on the one in which all the elements are aligned with the orientation of , their aspect ratios are about the anisotropic ratio of , and their areas make the error evenly distributed over every element.
