The effects of substituting Si by M4 + cations in soda-lime silica glasses were analyzed by impedance spectroscopy in the frequency range of 1 Hz–1 MHz. The glass composition was (mol%) 22Na2O·8CaO·65SiO2·5MO2, M = Si, Ti, Ge, Zr, Sn, and Ce. Although the Na+ concentration in the glasses is constant, the Zr-containing glass exhibits the highest dc conductivity and the lowest activation energy, while the Ce-containing glass exhibits the lowest conductivity. The activation energies obtained experimentally agree with those obtained by a theoretical equation proposed by Anderson and Stuart. The differences in electrical conductivity presented by the several M-containing glasses are attributed to the effect that the M4 + ion has on the mobility of the diffusing Na+ ion.  相似文献

The effect of hydration on the kinetic fragility of soda-lime-silica glasses was investigated by viscometry in the glass transition range. Water-bearing glasses were prepared from industrial float glass (FG) and a ternary model glass (NCS = 16Na2O 10CaO 74SiO2 in mol%) by bubbling steam through the melt at 1480 °C and up to 7 bar. Additionally, a sodium borosilicate glass (NBS = 16Na2O 10B2O3 74SiO2 in mol%) was hydrated under equal conditions. As detected by infrared spectroscopy water dissolves in the glasses exclusively as OH-groups. The hydration resulted in a total water content CW up to ≈ 0.2 wt% for FG, NCS and NBS glasses. Kinetic fragility, expressed by the steepness index m, was determined from the temperature dependence of η at the glass transition. Viscosity data from previous studies on hydrous float glasses (CW > 1 wt%) were surveyed together with literature data on the (H2O)–Na2O–CaO–SiO2, (H2O)–Na2O–SiO2 and (H2O)–SiO2 systems to expand the range of water concentration and bulk composition. We could demonstrate that m decreases for all glasses although water is dissolved as OH and should depolymerize the network. An empirical equation of the general type m = a ? b logCW where a, b are fitting parameters, enables m to be predicted, for each glass series as function of the water content CW. The enlarged data base shows that the parameter B of the Arrhenius viscosity-temperature relation decreases much stronger than the isokom temperature at the glass transition.  相似文献

This paper deals with a systematic study of crystal nucleation and growth kinetics in a 14.6Na2O–34.0CaO–51.4SiO2 mol% glass, which is close to the CaO · SiO2–Na2O · SiO2 pseudo-binary section, just left of the stoichiometric Na2O · 2CaO · 3SiO2 (N1C2S3) compound. We show that crystallization begins with nucleation of a Na4+2xCa4−x[Si6O18] (0 < x < 1) solid solution that is enriched in sodium as compared with both parent glass and the N1C2S3 compound; while a fully crystallized sample is composed only by a solid solution that is stable at very high temperatures, but is metastable in the temperatures under investigation. We thus confirm a continuous compositional change of the crystals during the course of crystallization.  相似文献

Lead-free glasses in the SiO2–B2O3–Bi2O3–ZnO quaternary system were studied. The glass formation region, as determined by XRD patterns of bulk samples, was limited to glasses having more than 40 mol% of the glass-forming oxides SiO2 and B2O3. Crystalline phases of Zn2SiO4 (willemite) were detected in compositions of 30SiO2 · 10B2O3 · 20Bi2O3 · 40ZnO and 20SiO2 · 10B2O3 · 25Bi2O3 · 45ZnO. Glass transition temperatures (Tg), dilatometric softening points (Td) and linear coefficients of expansion in the temperatures range of 25–300 °C (α25–300) were measured for subsystems along the B2O3 join of 10, 20 and 30 mol%. For these subsystems, Tg ranged from 411 to 522 °C, and Td ranged from 453 to 563 °C, both decreasing with increasing Bi2O3 content. The measured α25–300 ranged from 53 to 95 × 10−7 °C−1, with values increasing with increasing Bi2O3 content. The ZnO content had the opposite effect to the Bi2O3 content. It appears that Bi3+ acts as a glass-modifier in this quaternary system.  相似文献

Classic composition 8.4Na2O·5K2O·10.8CaO·64SiO2·10.5CaF2·1.3Al2O3 (G1/GC1) and high silicon composition 7.6Na2O·4K2O·8.4CaO·71SiO2·8CaF2·1.0Al2O3 (G2/GC2) canasite-based glass and glass-ceramics were prepared, and the chemical durability and weathering of samples were studied with XRD, ICP-AES, SEM and optical microscopy. Interestingly, a kind of color fringe pattern caused by the acid leaching was directly observed on the glass ceramic surface under optical microscopy. The 20 day weight losses of glass and glass ceramic in acid (1 M HCl) and alkali (1 M NaOH/1 M Na2CO3) solution were measured. Accelerated weathering was used to demonstrate that increasing silicon content contributes to the weathering performance of glass and glass-ceramics. For different micro-structures and compositions, the weight loss of each glass and glass-ceramic is quite different. In general, through increasing the network interconnectivity of residual glass network and suppressing the crystallization of the less durable canasite phase, the addition of SiO2 (from 60 mol% to 71 mol%) enhanced the chemical durability of canasite-based glass and glass ceramic relatively under acid, alkali and weathering conditions.  相似文献

Aluminate glasses containing 45–71.5 mol% alumina, 10–40 mol% rare earth oxide, and 0–30 mol% silica were synthesized from precursor oxides. The glass transition and crystallization temperatures were determined by differential scanning calorimetry; the structural and mechanical properties were investigated by Raman and Brillouin spectroscopy. The range of the supercooled liquid region varies from ∼40 °C to 200 °C, providing a useful working range for compositions with 5–30 mol% silica. Raman scattering showed the presence of isolated SiO4 species that strengthen the network-forming structure, enhance glass formation, and stabilize the glass even when they are present at fairly low concentrations. Sound velocities were measured by Brillouin scattering. From these and other values, various elastic moduli were calculated. The moduli increased with both aluminum and rare earth content, as did the hardness of the glasses. Young’s modulus was in the range 118–169 GPa, 60–130% larger than that for pure silica glass.  相似文献

The effect of uranium oxide on the structure of sodium borosilicate host glasses has been studied by neutron diffraction. The samples were prepared by quenching the melted mixtures of composition 70 wt% [(65  x)SiO2 · xB2O3 · 25Na2O · 5BaO · 5ZrO2] + 30 wt% UO3 with x = 5, 10 and 15 mol%. It was found, that the U-loaded glasses posses good glass and hydrolytic stability. An enhanced probability for inter-mediate atomic correlations at around 4.8 Å has been established. The RMC simulation of the neutron diffraction data is consistent with a model where the uranium ions are incorporated into interstitial voids in the essentially unmodified network structure of the starting host glass. The U–O atomic pair correlation functions show a sharp peak at around 1.7 Å, and several farther distinct peaks are at 2.8, 3.6 and 4.1 Å. The uranium ions are coordinated by six oxygen atoms in the 1.6–3.4 Å interval.  相似文献

A glass with the composition of 35Na2O–24Fe2O3–20B2O3–20SiO2–1ZnO (mol%) was melted, quenched, using a twin roller technique, and subsequently heat treated in the range 485–750 °C for 1–2 h. This led to the crystallization of magnetite as the sole or the major crystalline phase.Heat treatment at lower temperatures resulted in the crystallization of magnetite crystals 7–20 nm in diameter, whereas heat treatment at higher temperatures produced higher quantities of magnetite and much larger crystals. The room temperature magnetization and coercive force values were in the range of 6–57 emu g? 1 and 0–120 Oe, respectively for the heat treated glasses.  相似文献

Thermal conductivity of glass is one of the fundamental properties of it. However, that has not been studied enough. That of only less than 20 compositions has been measured below the room temperature. In this study, we measured the thermal conductivity of xNa2O · (100 ? x)SiO2 and (33 ? y)Na2O · yCs2O · 67SiO2 glasses by a transient heating method in the temperature range from about 150 K to room temperature. The conductivity of xNa2O · (100 ? x)SiO2 is found to decrease with the increase in alkali content. The dominant factor of this behavior is the decrease in phonon mean free path, which is due to the increase of non-bridge oxygen. Thermal conductivity of (33 ? y)Cs2O · yNa2O · 67SiO2 is decreased with the increase in Cs2O/(Na2O + Cs2O) ratio. The dominant factor of this behavior is the decrease of sound velocity. However, composition dependence of the phonon mean free path also affects the thermal conductivity. Phonon mean free path of 33Cs2O · 67SiO2 glass is longer than that of 33Na2O · 67SiO2 glass, and should be related to the change in distribution of structural unit in glass. In addition, phonon mean free path of mixed alkali glasses are shorter than that of single alkali glasses.  相似文献

Glasses with the base composition 16Na2O · 10CaO · 74SiO2 doped with copper and iron or copper and manganese were studied by high temperature UV–vis–NIR spectroscopy. The spectra exhibited distinct absorption bands attributed to the respective transition metal ions present (Cu2+, Fe2+, Fe3+, Mn3+). In glasses doped with only one polyvalent element, the absorption decreases linearly with increasing temperature, the absorption bands are shifted to smaller wave numbers and get broader. In glasses doped with two types of transition metals, the situation is the same up to a temperature of around 550 °C. At larger temperature, the Cu2+-absorption in glasses also co-doped with iron increases again, while in glasses doped with both copper and manganese the absorption is approximately the same as in glasses solely doped with copper. It is shown that this is due to redox reactions between polyvalent species. These reactions are frozen in at temperatures <550 °C.  相似文献

SiO2 and Na2O–SiO2 coatings have been applied on float glass and other technical glass substrates by a sol–gel dip-coating process. After drying and baking these films at temperatures up to 500 °C and for times up to 1020 min, the in-depth profiles of the different constituents were measured by secondary neutral mass spectrometry (SNMS). Sn, Al, and Si turned out to be immobile, whereas a diffusion coefficient of ≈10−17 cm2/s could be evaluated for Mg at 500 °C for the transport from float glass into the films. Ca diffused a little faster, however, especially for the Na2O–SiO2 films a saddle point and finally a peak occurred in the interface region. This interface peak was even stronger for Na, showing quite anomalous profiles. The mechanism of this peak formation is explained mainly as an up-hill diffusion process. According to this model at the interface non-bridging –O ions are formed, whose electroneutrality has to be maintained by mobile cations like Na+ and Ca2+, even diffusing against their own concentration gradient. The other glass substrates, two borofloat glasses and an alkali-poor display glass showed similar but less pronounced effects.  相似文献

Bulk binary ZnO–P2O5 glasses with 50–70 mol% ZnO were immersed in distilled water at 30–90 °C for up to 72 h. The immersed samples were characterized by weight loss, the change in solution pH, X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, scanning electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy. Weight loss decreased with ZnO concentration for all immersion temperatures. Dissolution behavior was classified into two types in terms of weight loss and macroscopic appearance. Type I was primarily recognized in 50–60 mol% ZnO glasses. In type I, the weight loss for 72 h was relatively large (>1.0 × 10−7 kg mm−2, >10% of initial sample weight). Raman spectra of the type I glasses indicated that the depolymerization of phosphate glass network occurred during the dissolution process. Crystalline Zn2P2O7 · 3H2O was precipitated in the water solution after immersion. Type II dissolution behavior was recognized in the 65 and 70 mol% ZnO glasses except for the 65ZnO–35P2O5 glass immersed at 90 °C. In the type II behavior, the weight loss for 72 h was relatively-small (<1.0 × 10−8 kg mm−2, <1% of initial sample weight). The microstructure of the type II glass indicated selective dissolution. The dissolution process of the type II glass is discussed.  相似文献

The crystallisation of CaO–ZrO2–SiO2 glasses doped with V2O5 (0.1–5 mol%) has been investigated in terms of microstructure and thermal parameters. Results indicate that crystallisation is predominantly controlled by a surface nucleation mechanism, even though a partial bulk nucleation has been encountered in compositions containing more than 2 mol% of doping oxide. As detected from differential thermal analysis curves, glass transition temperature and crystallisation temperature, are strongly dependent upon V2O5 content varying from 0.0 to 2.0 mol%, while the crystallisation activation energy values decrease with a parabolic trend from B-glass (0.0 mol% V2O5 content, 495±7) to V-0.7 (0.7 mol% V2O5 content, 420±6) composition, increasing again to 442±5 kJ/mol K with higher amount of V2O5. The microstructure of the glass-ceramic materials clearly showed a marked dependence upon the amount of V2O5, also due to the presence of phase separation for content higher than 0.7 mol%. Wollastonite, CaO·SiO2, and a calcia–zirconia–silicate, 2CaO·4SiO2·ZrO2, are the main crystalline phases whose ratio slightly varies with vanadium oxide content. The glass ceramics obtained from the studied materials are greenish and bluish coloured, so it is possible to use the studied glasses as coloured frits for tile glazes.  相似文献

Glasses with the base mol% composition xNa2O · 10CaO · (90 ? x)SiO2 with x = 10, 16, 20 and 26 were investigated at high temperatures using square-wave voltammetry. The recorded voltammograms exhibit two peaks. That at less negative or (depending on temperature and glass composition) even positive potential is attributed to the reduction of Cu2+ to Cu+, while that observed at more negative potential is caused by the reduction of Cu+ to metallic copper. For both redox steps, the peak potentials decrease linearly with temperature. Those of the composition with 10 mol% Na2O show the most negative values. The diffusion coefficients can be fitted to Arrhenius equation. If referenced to the same viscosity, the diffusion coefficients decrease with increasing Na2O-concentration. The effect of composition on the thermodynamics as well as on diffusivities is explained by the incorporation of the copper ions into the melt structure.  相似文献

Neutron diffraction structure study has been performed on multi-component sodium borosilicate based waste glasses with the composition of (65  x)SiO2. · xB2O3 · 25Na2O · 5BaO · 5ZrO2, x = 5–15 mol%. The maximum momentum transfer of the experimental structure factor was 30 Å−1, which made available to determine the distribution function with high r-space resolution. Reverse Monte Carlo modelling was applied to calculate several partial atomic pair correlation functions, nearest neighbor distances and coordination numbers have been revealed. The characteristic features of Si–O and Si–Si distributions are similar for all glassy samples, suggesting that the Si–O network consisting of tetrahedral SiO4 units is highly stable even in the multi-component glasses. The B–O correlations proved to be fairly complex, two distinct first neighbor distances are present at 1.40 Å and 1.60 Å, the latter equals the Si–O distance. Coordination number distribution analyzes has revealed 3 and four-coordinated boron atoms. The O–O distribution suggests a network configuration consisting of boron rich and silicon rich regions. Our findings are consistent with a structure model where the boron rich network contains mostly trigonal BO3 units, and the silicon rich network is formed by a mixed continuous network of [4]Si–O–Si[4] with several different [4]B–O–Si[4] and [3]B–O–Si[4] linkages.  相似文献

Liquids with the base compositions (16  x/2)Na2O · xNaF · 10CaO · 74SiO2 (x = 0, 1, 3, and 4) and (10  x/2) · Na2O · xNaF · 10CaO · yAl2O3 · (80  y)SiO2 (x = 0, 1, 3, 5 and y = 5 and 15) doped with 0.25 mol% Fe2O3 were studied by means of square-wave voltammetry in the temperature range from 1000 to 1500 °C. With increasing temperature, the redox equilibria were shifted to the reduced state. Also while increasing the alumina concentration, the Fe2+/Fe3+-redox equilibrium is shifted to the reduced state. In the soda-lime–silica melt the addition of fluoride shifts the equilibrium to the oxidized state, while in the aluminosilicate melts with 15 mol% Al2O3, the equilibrium is shifted to the reduced state. In the aluminosilicate melts with 5 mol% Al2O3, the equilibrium was not affected by the fluoride concentration. This is explained by the structure of the respective glass compositions.  相似文献

Bioactive glass ceramics (BGCs) have different rates of biodegradation and mechanical properties depending on their chemical compositions and sintering temperatures. The present study was aimed to develop the boron-rich, phosphorus-low CaO–SiO2–P2O5–B2O3 bioactive glasses (BG-Bx, X = 0, 10, 20) potentially for improving the mechanical properties of BGCs via low-temperature co-fired process. The B2O3-free BG-B0 shrunk well at ~ 726 °C and melted at over 1050 °C, while the onset shrinking and melting temperatures of the 20 mol% B2O3-doped BG-B20 was lowered to ~ 648 °C and ~ 952 °C, respectively. The BG-B20 thermally treated at 850–950 °C was transformed into wollastonite and calcium borate, and crystallization decreased the kinetics but did not inhibit the development of hydroxyapatite on their powder and disc surface when immersed in simulated body fluid. The in vitro degradation in Tris buffer confirmed that the degradation rate markedly increased with increasing boron content in BG-Bx. The compressive strength and flexural strength of the 10% BG-B20-reinforced 45S5 porous BGC sintered at 850 °C was nearly four times than that of 45S5 porous constructs. These studies suggest that the boron-rich, phosphorus-low CaO–SiO2–P2O5–B2O3 system is a promising biomaterial and potential low temperature co-fired aid for improving the mechanical and biological properties of porous BGCs.  相似文献

SnO–ZnO–P2O5 glasses with 30 and 40 mol% P2O5 were prepared by a melting process in an air atmosphere. The glass transition temperature, refractive index, and photoluminescence of the glasses were investigated. The electronic states of Sn(II) and Sn(IV) were determined by Mössbauer spectroscopy. The PO4 units were investigated by Raman spectroscopy. The glass transition temperature was lower than 450 °C, and decreased as the Sn concentrations increased, so that the minimum was about 250 °C. The refractive index increased as the Sn concentration increased. The emission spectra of the glasses peaked at around 2.0–3.0 eV and depended on the glass compositions.  相似文献

Sodium tracer diffusion coefficients, D*Na, have been measured using the radioactive isotope Na-22 in sodium boroaluminosilicate (NBAS) glasses containing either a small amount of As2O3 or Fe2O3. The chemical compositions of the first type of glasses are given by the formula [(Na2O)0.71(Fe2O3)0.05(B2O3)0.24]0.2[(SiO2)x(Al2O3)1 ? x]0.8 and those of the second type of glasses correspond to the formula [(Na2O)0.73(B2O3)0.24(As2O3)0.03]0.18[(SiO2)x(Al2O3)1 ? x]0.82. Tracer diffusion measurements were performed at different temperatures between 198 and 350 °C. Pre-annealing of the glass samples at their glass transition temperatures in common air was found to lead to changes in the values of sodium tracer diffusion coefficients. For the NBAS glasses containing Fe2O3, after pre-annealing for 5 h, the activation enthalpy derived for the sodium tracer diffusion increases almost linearly from 57.5 to 71.3 kJ/mol with a decrease in the alumina content while the pre-exponential factor of the sodium tracer diffusion coefficient increases from 2.1 · 10? 4 to 5.3 · 10? 4 cm2/s. For the iron-free NBAS glasses pre-annealed for 5 h, the activation enthalpy varies between 63.9 and 71.4 kJ/mol while the pre-exponential factor varies between 1.5 · 10? 4 and 1.2 · 10? 3 cm2/s. In addition, it was observed that the considered glasses take up water when annealed at 300 °C in wet air with PH2O = 474 mbar.  相似文献

(1  x)Li2O–xNa2O–Al2O3–4SiO2 glasses were studied for the progressive percentage substitution of Na2O for Li2O at the constant mole of Al2O3 and SiO2. The crystallization temperature at the exothermic peak increased from 898 to 939 °C when the Na2O content increases from 0 to 0.6 mol. The coefficient of thermal expansion and density of these as-quenched glasses increase from 6.54 × 10−6 °C−1 to 10.1 × 10−6 °C−1 and 2.378 g cm−3 to 2.533 g cm−3 when the Na2O content increases from 0 to 0.4 mol, respectively. The electrical resistivity has a maximum value at Na2O · (Li2O + Na2O)−1 = 0.4. The activation energy of crystallization decreases from 444 to 284 kJ mol−1 when the Na2O content increased from 0 to 0.4 mol. Moreover, the activation energy increases from 284 kJ mol−1 to 446 kJ mol−1 when the Na2O content increased from 0.4 to 0.6 mol. The FT-IR spectra show that the symmetric stretching mode of the SiO4 tetrahedra (1035–1054 cm−1) and AlO4 octahedra (713–763 cm−1) exhibiting that the network structure is built by SiO4 tetrahedra and AlO4.  相似文献
