An exact solution of the magnetohydrodynamic equations is constructed which describes steady vortex flow in a stationary cylinder on the axis of which a conductor carrying a known current is located. The solution is obtained under the assumption that the fluid is viscous and has finite electrical conductivity and that the magnetic field has only the axial and azimuthal components in a cylindrical coordinate system. It is found that the action of the Lorentz force is compensated by changing the pressure. Fluid flow occurs from the periphery to the axis of the cylinder under a pressure gradient, with flow rotation and swirling. The fluid flow causes a concentration of the magnetic lines near the axis of the cylinder, providing an exponential decrease in the magnetic field strength with distance from the axis. This flow can be considered as a model of a local increase in the magnetic field strength due to the transfer of its force lines by the flow of the electrically conducting fluid.  相似文献

The motion of a small gas bubble, presumed to retain its geometrical shape and contained in a rotating liquid, has been investigated. The fluid system liquid-gas is subject to the influence of a reduced gravitational field. It is demonstrated that under certain conditions (spin axis and direction of gravity are perpendicular to each other) the bubble travels on a circular path about the axis of rotation, as seen from an observer moving with the bulk of the liquid.  相似文献

Stresses and displacements are obtained for an elastic superconductor in the form of an infinitely long, circular cylindrical tube subjected to an initially uniform magnetic field perpendicular to the tube's axis. The effect of the magnetic field penetration on the stressed state is assessed by solving the problem, firstly taking into account this penetration and, secondly, neglecting it. The problem involves the solution of a non-homogeneous biharmonic equation in two dimensions for the stress function. The special case of a circular cylinder is also given. Numerical calculations estimate the variation between the two cases for some quantities of practical interest. It is shown, in particular, that neglecting the penetration of the magnetic field in the elastic superconductor may induce a non negligible error in the appreciation of the stressed state.  相似文献

In this paper, the problem of laminar, two dimensional heat convection from a circular cylinder performing steady rotation is investigated. The cylinder is␣placed with its axis horizontal in a quiescent fluid of infinite extent. Because of viscous dissipation, the flow process is confined to the region adjacent to the cylinder and is mainly driven by shear and buoyancy forces. The study is based on the solution of the full conservation equations of mass, momentum and energy for Rayleigh numbers up to 104 and Reynolds numbers (based on surface velocity) up to 400 while Prandtl number ranges between 0.7 and 7.0. For the range of parameters considered, the study revealed that the rate of heat transfer increases with the increase of Rayleigh number and decreases with the increase of speed of rotation. The increase of Prandtl number resulted in an appreciable increase in the average Nusselt number only at low Reynolds numbers. The effect of Prandtl number at high Reynolds number is negligibly small. The resulting flow field in all cases is steady with no vortex shedding. The streamlines and isotherms are plotted for a number of cases to show the details of the velocity and thermal fields. Received on 15 December 1997  相似文献

Exact analytical solution for flows of an electrically conducting fluid over an infinite oscillatory disk in the presence of a uniform transverse magnetic field is constructed. Both the disk and the fluid are in a state of non-coaxial rotation. Such a flow model has a great significance not only due to its own theoretical interest, but also due to applications to geophysics and engineering. The resulting initial value problem has been solved analytically by applying the Laplace transform technique and the explicit expressions for the velocity for steady and unsteady cases have been established. The analysis of the obtained results shows that the flow field is appreciably influenced by the applied magnetic field, the frequency and rotation parameters.  相似文献

A numerical analysis of the flow pattern in the inlet region of a circular pipe rotating steadily about an axis parallel to its own is presented. Both finite cell and finite element methods are used to analyse the problem and they give qualitatively similar results which show that a swirling fluid motion is induced in the pipe inlet region. The analyses show that the direction of swirl is opposite to that of the pipe rotation when viewed along the flow axis and that its magnitude depends on the speed of pipe rotation and throughflow Reynolds number. Neither numerical analysis predicts the marked upturn in friction factor (or pressure drop) which has been observed experimentally. However, a dependence on the pipe inlet boundary conditions is demonstrated.  相似文献

The steady rotation of a disk of infinite radius in a conducting incompressible fluid in the presence of an axial magnetic field leads to the formation on the disk of a three-dimensional axisymmetric boundary layer in which all quantities, in view of the symmetry, depend only on two coordinates. Since the characteristic dimension is missing in this problem, the problem is self-similar and, consequently, reduces to the solution of ordinary differential equations.Several studies have been made of the steady rotation of a disk in an isotropically conductive fluid. In [1] a study was made of the asymptotic behavior of the solution at a large distance from the disk. In [2] the problem is linearized under the assumption of small Alfven numbers, and the solution is constructed with the aid of the method of integral relations. In the case of small magnetic Reynolds numbers the problem has been solved by numerical methods [3,4]. In [5] the method of integral relations was used to study translational flow past a disk. The rotation of a weakly conductive fluid above a fixed base was studied in [6,7], The effect of conductivity anisotropy on a flow of a similar sort was studied approximately in [8], In the following we present a numerical solution of the boundary-layer problem on a disk with account for the Hall effect.  相似文献

In this paper, a study of the thermoelastic damping of a gold microbeam resonator in the context of the generalized thermoelasticity with one relaxation time has been improved. An explicit formula of thermoelastic damping has been derived in general form includes the speed of the beam in the direction of its principal axis and without any external body force. Influences of the speed, the rotation, and the magnetic field have been studied. We discussed the effect of the speed of the beam, the rotation, and the magnetic field on the thermoelastic damping (Q-factor). The moving and the rotation of the microbeam have significant effects on the thermoelastic damping and the energy dissipation. The external magnetic field with tiny induced magnetic field acts on the microbeam has a significant effect on the thermoelastic damping and the energy dissipation. The energy dissipation of the microbeam decreases when the speed of the microbeam, the rotation angular speed, and the external magnetic field acts on the microbeam decrease.  相似文献

In this work, the effect of magnetic field, rotation and initial stress on peristaltic motion of micropolar fluid in a circular cylindrical flexible tube with viscoelastic or elastic wall properties has been considered. Runge–Kutta technique are used. Runge–Kutta method is developed to solve the governing equations of motion resulting from a perturbation technique for small values of amplitude ratio. The time mean axial velocity profiles are presented for the case of free pumping and analyzed to observe the influence of wall properties, magnetic field, rotation and initial stress for various values of micropolar fluid parameters. In the case of viscoelastic wall, the effect of viscous damping on mean flow reversal at the boundary is seen. The numerical results of the time mean velocity profile are discussed in detail for homogeneous fluid under the effect of wall properties, magnetic field, initial stress and rotation for different cases by figures. The results indicate that the effect of wall properties, rotation, initial stress and magnetic field are very pronounced. Numerical results are given and illustrated graphically.  相似文献

Results are presented of an experimental investigation into the influence on flow resistance of flow conditioning prior to the entry region of a circular sectioned tube rotating about an axis parallel to its central axis of symmetry. This investigation is part of a long term study into the effect of rotation on pressure loss and heat transfer characteristics in rotating coolant channels. It is shown that for fully developed flow, rotation has little significant effect on flow resistance in the normal laminar and turbulent zones. The transition region is, however, affected; the usual ‘dip’ in friction factor is replaced by a smoother transition from laminar to turbulent flow. For developing flow, however, it has been shown that rotation can significantly increase the flow resistance above the normal stationary correlations. This increase can be reduced by smoothing the flow with gauzes and flow straightening honeycombs prior to the entry region of the tube.  相似文献

In this paper we use the Green function method to solve the problem of steady one dimensional flow of an incompressible viscous, electrically conducting fluid through a pipe with partial circular ring cross section and one with annular cross section, in the presence of an applied transverse uniform magnetic field. We obtain analytic solutions and carry out some numerical calculations of the velocity distribution and induced magnetic field.  相似文献

Moskowitz and Rosensweig [1] describe the drag of a magnetic liquid — a colloidal suspension of ferromagnetic single-domain particles in a liquid carrier — by a rotating magnetic field. Various hydrodynamic models have been proposed [2, 3] to describe the macroscopic behavior of magnetic suspensions. In the model constructed in [2] it was assumed that the intensity of magnetization is always directed along the field so that the body torque is zero. Therefore, this model cannot account for the phenomenon under consideration. We make a number of simplifying assumptions to discuss the steady laminar flow of an incompressible viscous magnetizable liquid with internal rotation of particles moving in an infinitely long cylindrical container in a rotating magnetic field. The physical mechanism setting the liquid in motion is discussed. The importance of unsymmetric stresses and the phenomenon of relaxation of magnetization are emphasized. The solution obtained below is also a solution of the problem of the rotation of a polarizable liquid in a rotating electric field according to the model in [3].Translated from Zhurnal Prikladnoi Mekhaniki i Tekhnicheskoi Fiziki, No. 4, pp. 40–43, July–August, 1970.  相似文献

The von Kàrmàn problem of steady viscous incompressible flow in a half-space beneath a permeable, porous disk of infinite radius, uniformly rotating it its own plane, is considered. The Bevers-Joseph condition which takes account for viscous fluid slip relative to the plane disk is taken for the boundary condition for the tangential velocity component. This makes it possible to consider the flow only outside the porous disk. The disk permeability effect on the boundary layer is studied, in particular, its influence on the dependence of the moment of viscous forces distributed over the disk about the axis of rotation on the permeability and the pressure difference.  相似文献

Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow of a viscous electrically conducting incompressible fluid between two stationary impermeable disks is considered. A homogeneous electric current density vector normal to the surface is specified on the upper disk, and the lower disk is nonconducting. The exact von Karman solution of the complete system of MHD equations is studied in which the axial velocity and the magnetic field depend only on the axial coordinate. The problem contains two dimensionless parameters: the electric current density on the upper plate Y and the Batchelor number (magnetic Prandtl number). It is assumed that there is no external source that produces an axial magnetic field. The problem is solved for a Batchelor number of 0–2. Fluid flow is caused by the electric current. It is shown that for small values of Y, the fluid velocity vector has only axial and radial components. The velocity of motion increases with increasing Y, and at a critical value of Y, there is a bifurcation of the new steady flow regime with fluid rotation, while the flow without rotation becomes unstable. A feature of the obtained new exact solution is the absence of an axial magnetic field necessary for the occurrence of an azimuthal component of the ponderomotive force, as is the case in the MHD dynamo. A new mechanism for the bifurcation of rotation in MHD flow is found.  相似文献

Summary A solution is outlined for the problem of an electric dipole which is located outside and parallel to the axis of a circular cylinder fo infinite length. The corrugated surface of the cylinder is assumed to be described by an anisotropic boundary impedance which specifies the ratios of the tangential electric and magnetic fields. It is shown that, in general, the radiated field is elliptically polarized.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT A curved bar in the form of a circular ring sector is under uniform torsion when acted upon by two equal and opposite forces directed alone the axis passing through the center of the ring and perpendicular to its plane, i.e., forces acting along the axis of rotation. The exact torsion theory can be extended to this case when the material of which the bar consists is cylindri-cally anisotropic, with the axis of anisotropy directed along the axis of rotation and having an elastic symmetry about any plane of the transverse cross section. In this paper, a thin-walled curved bar having the loading conditions and material properties described above is optimized so as to maximize its torsional stiffness. The optimization is carried out with respect to the cross-sectional shape of the bar subject to constraints on the transverse area (single-purpose design) and bending stiffness (multipurpose design). In the special case of an orthotropic material, the angle of inclination of the ortho-tropy axes with respect to the middle plane is optimally determined for a cross section with constant thickness. A perturbation method is used to obtain analytical solutions, and numerical results are presented indicating the efficiency of the designs and the optimal cross-sectional shapes.  相似文献

The problem of optimal control of rotation of an asymmetric rigid body is studied. An integrally quadratic functional characterizing the total energy costs is taken as the criterion. It is shown that, under certain conditions, the problem has a nontrivial extremal corresponding to a 180-degree flat turn, i.e., rotation about an axis fixed in the inertial space. The obtained results are based on an analysis of the equations arising after the application of the Pontryagin maximum principle (PMP) formalism.  相似文献

Natural convection in a fluid saturated porous medium confined in a horizontal circular cylinder and rotating about its axis, with isothermal boundary conditions and uniform internal heat sink, is studied by both numerical and perturbation methods. No symmetry with respect to the vertical diameter is expected for the flow and temperature fields and the whole region must be involved in the computation. Only the weak rotation regime, for which the centrifugal force is negligible compared to gravity, is considered. Governing equations for the two-dimensional flow field are solved in both rotating and non-rotating coordinate systems. Results indicate that rotation significantly decreases the radial amplitude of fluid particle trajectories in the radial direction and thus reduces the overall heat transfer.  相似文献
