Let Ω ⊂R d be an unbounded domain, periodic along a chosen direction (a waveguide-type domain),P be a self-adjoint elliptic second order operator inL 2(Ω) periodic along the same direction, andV be a real-valued decaying potential. We suppose that the bottom of the spectrum ofP is λ=0 and study the asymptotic behaviour of the number of negative eigenvalues of the opeatorPaV as the parameter α tends to +∞. We show that typically the Weyl asymptotic law for this quantity is violated and find a substitute for this law.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose approximations of fluid flow that could be used for obtaining wall laws of higher order. We consider the two-dimensional laminar fluid flow, modeled by the incompressible Stokes system in a straight channel with a rough side. The roughness is periodic and the ratio of the amplitude of the rough part and the size of the flow domain is denoted by ?, being a small number. We impose periodic boundary conditions on the flow. We generalize the boundary layers needed for the construction of flow approximations of higher order with respect to ?. The existence of the layers and their features are discussed. Finally we give the error estimates for the approximations and establish an explicit wall law.  相似文献

We study the Stokes system with non-homogeneous Fourier boundary conditions depending on a parameter, in a domain with periodic inclusions of the size of the period. Following the values of this parameter, we obtain at the limit a Darcy's law, a Brinkmann type equation or a Stokes type equation. We also present a physical model to which the results apply. This model describes the flow of an incompressible viscous fluid through a porous medium under the action of an exterior electric field.  相似文献

We define a reiterated unfolding operator for a doubly periodic domain presenting two periodicity scales. Then we show how to apply it to the homogenization of both linear and nonlinear problems. The main novelty is that this method allows the use of test functions with one scale of periodicity only and it considerably simplifies the proofs of the convergence results. We illustrate this new approach on a Poisson problem with Dirichlet boundary conditions and on the flow of a power law fluid in a doubly periodic porous medium.  相似文献

We investigate the large time behavior of solutions of reaction–diffusion equations with general reaction terms in periodic media. We first derive some conditions which guarantee that solutions with compactly supported initial data invade the domain. In particular, we relate such solutions with front-like solutions such as pulsating traveling fronts. Next, we focus on the homogeneous bistable equation set in a domain with periodic holes, and specifically on the cases where fronts are not known to exist. We show how the geometry of the domain can block or allow invasion. We finally exhibit a periodic domain on which the propagation takes place in an asymmetric fashion, in the sense that the invasion occurs in a direction but is blocked in the opposite one.  相似文献

The general concern of this paper is the effect of rough boundaries on fluids. We consider a stationary flow, governed by incompressible Navier‐Stokes equations, in an infinite domain bounded by two horizontal rough plates. The roughness is modeled by a spatially homogeneous random field, with characteristic size ε. A mathematical analysis of the flow for small ε is performed. The Navier's wall law is rigorously deduced from this analysis. We consider the interactions of finite dipoles in a doubly periodic domain. A finite dipole is a pair of equal and opposite strength point vortices separated by a finite distance. The dynamics of multiple finite dipoles in an unbounded inviscid fluid was first proposed by Tchieu, Kanso, and Newton in Tchieu et al. (Proc. R. Soc. Lond. Ser. A, Math. Phys. Eng. Sci. 468(2146):3006–3026, 2012) as a model that captures the “far-field” hydrodynamic interactions in fish schools. In this paper, we formulate the equations of motion governing the dynamics of finite dipoles in a doubly periodic domain. We show that a single dipole in a doubly periodic domain exhibits periodic and aperiodic behavior, in contrast to a single dipole in an unbounded domain. In the case of two dipoles in a doubly periodic domain, we identify a number of interesting trajectories including collision, collision avoidance, and passive synchronization of the dipoles. We then examine two types of dipole lattices: rectangular and diamond. We verify that these lattices are in a state of relative equilibrium and show that the rectangular lattice is unstable, while the diamond lattice is linearly stable for a range of perturbations. We conclude by commenting on the insight these models provide in the context of fish schooling.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate a coupled system of two Korteweg-de Vries equations on a bounded domain. We discuss the long-time behavior of this system with forces on the left Dirichlet boundary conditions. We obtain that if the forces are periodic (almost periodic) with small amplitude, then the solution of the coupled system is periodic (almost periodic).  相似文献

We consider a rectilinear quasi-stationary motion of a two-mass system in a viscous medium. The motion of the system as a whole occurs due to periodic movements of the internal mass relatively to the shell. The problem is to describe the law of motion of the internal mass that provides the minimum energy consumption with a specified average velocity of the shell. We propose an algorithm for solving the problem with any law of the resistance of the medium. We obtain the energy-optimal law of motion of a spherical shell in a viscous liquid.  相似文献

This article introduces an interior optimal control problem (OCP) in a two-dimensional domain with a highly oscillatory boundary governed by the stationary Stokes equations. We consider the periodic controls in the oscillating region of the domain and use the unfolding operators to characterize the optimal controls. In this paper, we study the existence of periodic solutions for classical Hamiltonian systems without the Palais-Smale condition. We study a stationary, purely viscous polymer flow through a porous medium modelled as a periodic array of cells consisted of a fluid part and a solid one. Solid parts of the domain present impermeable obstacles, whose impact on fluid flow may be seen as a slowing factor through averaged quantities such as the permeability function, obtained by the homogenization process. In that way, the influence of the microstructure is implemented in the homogenized equations through a kind of nonlinear Darcy's law. Our goal is to find more explicitly the dependence of the permeability function on the size η of the obstacle in the unit cell and the so-called low-volume-fraction limit. Main difficulties arise from the nonlinear character of the power-law viscosity and the apparent weak convergence of the solutions involved.  相似文献

We study an initial boundary value problem for the Navier-Stokes equations of compressible viscous heat-conductive fluids in a 2-D periodic domain or the unit square domain. This paper is devoted to the homogenization of a nonlinear transmission problem stated in a two-phase domain. We consider a system of linear diffusion equations defined in a periodic domain consisting of two disjoint phases that are both connected sets separated by a thin interface. Depending on the field variables, at the interface, nonlinear conditions are imposed to describe interface reactions. In the variational setting of the problem, we prove the homogenization theorem and a bidomain averaged model. We introduce the notion of strict domain of attraction in the context of monotone probability theory and prove that a law has a nonempty strict domain of attraction if and only if it is strictly stable. We also show that the monotonic weak law of large numbers is equivalent to the classical and the free weak laws of large numbers.
