Ion-solvent interactions of Na+ and Br in binary aqueous mixtures of formamide,N-methylformamide (NMF), andN,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) are studied by use of23Na and81Br magnetic relaxation times, extrapolated to zero salt concentration. The relaxation times, which are controlled by quadrupolar interaction, have been measured over the complete mixture range and are compared with a simplified theoretical formula. It turned out that the23Na+ relaxation in H2O-formamide and H2O-NMF mixtures is in excellent agreement with theoretical predictions, implying nonpreferential solvation of Na+ in these systems. Small deviations of experimental from theoretical results in H2O+DMF possibly indicate weak selective hydration of the cation. In the case of the anionic nuclei81Br, deviations from the theoretical curve occur which are to be expected, especially for systems where hydrophobic effects play a role. On the other hand, it is demonstrated that these deviations can easily be explained within the electrostatic theory by differences in structural details of the anionic solvation sphere in the mixtures compared to the pure solvents.  相似文献

The spin-lattice relaxation time (T 1) of 23 Na was measured in solutions of NaClO 4 and (or) NaBr in formamide,N-methylformamide,N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF), MeCN, Me2CO, tetrahydrofuran (THF), and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), and 133 Cs in a solution of CsCl in formamide. The values of (1/T 1) 0 obtained by extrapolation are discussed in terms of current theories of quadrupolar magnetic relaxation of ionic nuclei. A correlation was found between (1/T 1) 0 for 23 Na and Gutmann's donor numbers. For Part I, see ref. 1.  相似文献

Cobalt(II) chloro complexation has been studied by titration calorimetry and spectrophotometry in solvent mixtures of N-methylformamide (NMF) and N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF). It revealed that a series of mononuclear CoClnn (2–n)+ (n=1–4) complexes are formed in the mixtures of NMF mole fraction x NMF=0.05 and 0.25, and the CoCl+, CoCl3 and CoCl4 2– complexes in the mixture of x NMF=0.5, and their formation constants, enthalpies and entropies were obtained. As compared with DMF, the complexation is markedly suppressed in the mixtures, as well as in NMF. The decreasing formation constant of CoCl+ with the NMF content is mainly ascribed to the decreasing formation entropy. DMF is aprotic and thus less-structured, whereas NMF is protic to form hydrogen- bonded clusters. In DMF-NMF mixtures, solvent clusters in neat NMF are ruptured to yield new clusters involving DMF, the structure of which depends on the solvent composition. The entropy of formation of CoCl+ will be discussed in relation to the liquid structure of DMF, NMF and their mixtures.  相似文献

Inter- and intramolecular nuclear magnetic quadrupole relaxation measurements have been used to study the system methanol (CH3OH)+ N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF)+NaI at 25°C. The dynamic behavior of the solvent molecules was investigated, throughout the composition range of the binary mixtures, by means of 14 N relaxation of DMF and 2 H of methanol-d 1 (CH 3 OD). The intermolecular relaxation of 23 Na+ in pure DMF was used to obtain information about the symmetry of the solvent electric dipole arrangement in the solvation sphere of the ion. The investigation of preferential solvation around Na+ in the binary mixtures was carried out by means of 23 Na+ relaxation measurements using, for the first time, both the CH 3 OH/CD 3 OD and the DMF/DMF-d 7 dynamic isotope effect. The results show that, throughout the composition range, there is preferential solvation by DMF. Furthermore, the use of the isotope effects of both components allowed for the first time a basic check of the reliability of the method since we obtained two independent sets of data for the composition of the Na+ solvation shell in the mixtures. The consistency of the two separate data sets demonstrates that the application of the dynamic isotope effect represents a powerful tool in preferential solvation studies.  相似文献

Solvation of the thallous ion in dilute solutions of six binary solvent systems (formamide/water,N-methylformamide/water,N-ethylformamide/water, formamide/N-methylformamide, formamide/N-ethylformamide, andN-methylformamide/N-ethylformamide) was studied with205Tl NMR spectroscopy. An attempt was made to separate solvation effects related to the electrondonating ability (Lewis basicity) of the solvents from effects resulting from structural changes in the solvation sphere. Structural effects were found to be greatest in theN-methylformamide/water system and least in theN-methylformamide/formamide system.  相似文献

Nuclear magnetic relaxation by intra- and intermolecular quadrupoleelectric field gradient interaction has been used for the study of the systems DMA-water-NaI and DMA-water-CsI at 25°C.14N relaxation of DMA and2H relaxation of D2O measured over the complete mixture range reveal the behavior of the rotational molecular motion of the two solvent components. For both solvent components a marked maximum of the reorientational correlation time has been found, reflecting hydrophobic effects and strong DMA-water interaction. The quadrupolar relaxation rates of23Na+ and133Cs+ in pure DMA were evaluated giving an indication that the electric solvent dipoles in the solvation shell are not located on positions of cubic symmetry. A quantitative study of preferential solvation of the cations in the mixed solvent has been performed by using the H2O-D2O isotope effect on23Na+ and133Cs+ relaxation. For both cations an obviously typical change in the selectivity occurs. In the range l>x H2 O>0.7 we find weak preferential hydration, but in the range 0.7>xH 2 O>0 strong preferential solvation by DMA is reflected.  相似文献

The enthalpies of solution of tetra-n-butylammonium bromide have been measured in mixtures of formamide (F) with water, N-methylformamide (NMF) with water, N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) with water, F with NMF, DMF with F, and NMF with DMF at 25°C in the whole mole-fraction range. The enthalpies of solution vs composition profiles show a maximum value in the DMF-H2O and in the DMF-F systems. In the F-NMF and NMF-DMF mixturesn-Bu4NBr displays a nearly ideal behavior, whereas in the other solvent systems the excess enthalpy of solution deviates substantially from zero.  相似文献

Property data for tetraalkylammonium cations, [H(CH2) n ]4N+, are reviewed. They pertain to the isolated cations and their transfer from the gas phase into aqueous solutions. Various properties of these cations in aqueous and non-aqueous solutions and data for their transfer between these are also reviewed. Emphasis is placed on the dependence of data on the length n of the alkyl chains rather than on the absolute values. Most of the data are available only for the first four members of the series. The properties of the isolated ions increase linearly with the chain length. Molar enthalpies of formation of the gaseous and aqueous cations, and absolute standard molar enthalpies of hydration, are derived. Standard molar entropies of dissolution of several salts in water are obtained from their solubilities and enthalpies of solution. The molar entropies of the crystalline iodides of the first four members of the series then give the standard partial molar entropies of the aqueous cations and their molar entropies of hydration. The standard partial molar volumes in aqueous and non-aqueous solutions are quite linear with n and in non-aqueous solutions the molar volume hardly depends on the nature of the solvent. On transfer from water to non-aqueous solvents the volume of Me4N+ suffers some shrinkage, that of Et4N+ appears to be unaffected, but from Pr4N+ onwards an increasing expansion takes place. This unexpected result is tentatively explained by hydrophobic intra-molecular association of pairs of alkyl chains in aqueous solutions, resulting in a tightening of the structure. The transfer of the R4N+ cations from water into non-aqueous solvents is governed by a large positive entropy change, outweighing the smaller positive enthalpy change. The transport properties of the aqueous R4N+ cations are non-linear with n. A major impediment to movement is thus the sticking of the water molecules to the ice-like hydrophobic hydration sheaths of the larger cations. The number of water molecules affected by the hydrophobic cations is open to widely differing estimates resulting from various approaches, and constitute an open issue.  相似文献

The enthalpy of mixing of formamide,N-methylformamide,N,N-dimethylformamide, and hexamethylphosphoric triamide with MeCN was measured in the 283–328 K range. The enthalpic coefficients of the binary and ternary interactions between the amide molecules are calculated within the framework of the McMillan-Mayer theory. The contributions to the enthalpy of dissolution due to cavity formation in the solvent (Δcav H 0) and due to solute-solvent interaction (Δint H 0) were determined. The enthalpies of specific and nonspecific solvation of amides in MeCN were calculated. The main contribution to the enthalpy of solvation of formamide andN-methylformamide is from specific interactions, while forN,N-dimethylformamide and hexamethylphosphoric triamide it is from nonspecific interactions. The values obtained are compared with those for solutions of the amides mentioned in water and methanol. Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. The enthalpies of transfer of formamide (Form) N-methylformamide (NMF) and N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) from water to aqueous methanol mixtures are reported and analysed in terms of the new solvation theory. It was found that a previous equation could not reproduce these data over the whole range of solvent compositions. Using the new solvation theory to reproduce the enthalpies of transfer shows excellent agreement between the experimental and calculated data over the entire range of solvent compositions. The analyses show that the solvation of DMF is random in the aqueous methanol mixtures while Form and NMF are preferentially solvated by methanol. It is also found that the interaction of the solutes is stronger with methanol than with water.  相似文献

Interaction of cellulose with amine oxide solvents   总被引:1,自引:3,他引:1
Cellulose I, mainly as ramie or as Avicel microcrystalline cellulose, has been monitored by optical microscopy and by 13C CPMAS NMR, over the course of its dissolution in hot N-methylmorpholine N-oxide solvent. Its interaction with the near-solvent N-ethylmorpholine N-oxide and related non-solvents has also been investigated. NMR shows that N-methylmorpholine N-oxide partly converts crystalline cellulose I into amorphous solid cellulose. The changes in chemical shift imply increased flexibility at the glycosidic bonds. In contrast, N-ethylmorpholine N-oxide converts cellulose I to cellulose IIII, without dissolution. Microscopy shows that the ramie fibres swell laterally, and at least some also shorten longitudinally, during dissolution. Model studies using methyl--d-glucopyranose show no evidence from 13C chemical shifts for different modes of binding with different solvents. However, N-methylmorpholine N-oxide binds more strongly to methyl--d-glucopyranose in DMSO than does N-ethylmorpholine N-oxide, whereas N-ethylmorpholine N-oxide binds better to H2O. Also, 13C T 1 values for aqueous cellobioside show increasing rotational freedom of the –CH2OH sidechains as N-methylmorpholine N-oxide is added. Together, these observations imply the initial penetration of solvents and near-solvents between the molecular cellulose sheets. Subsequently, N-methylmorpholine N-oxide breaks H-bonds, particularly to O-6, just sufficiently to loosen individual chains and then dissolve the sheets.  相似文献

The complexes of Tl+, Pb2+ and Cd2+ cations with the macrocyclic ligand, dicyclohexano-18-crown-6\linebreak(DC18C6) were studied in water/methanol (H2+O/MeOH), water/1-propanol (H2+O/1-PrOH), water/acetonitrile (H2+O/AN), water/dimethylformamide (H2+O/DMF), dimethylformamide/acetonitrile (DMF/AN), dimethylformamide/methanol (DMF/MeOH), dimethylformamide/1-propanol (DMF/1-PrOH) and dimethylformamide/nitromethane (DMF/NM) mixed solvents at 22 °C using differential pulse polarography (DPP), square wave polarography and conductometry. In general, the stability of the complexes was found to decrease with increasing concentration of water in aqueous/non-aqueous mixed solvents with an inverse relationship between the stability constants of the complexes and the concentration of DMF in non-aqueous mixed solvents. The results show that the change in stability of DC18C6.Tl+, vs the composition of solvent in DMF/AN and DMF/NM mixed solvents is apparently different from that in DMF/MeOH and DMF/1-PrOH mixed solvents. While the variation of stability constants of the DC18C6.Tl+ and DC18C6.Pb2+ complexes vs the composition of H2+O/AN mixed solvents is monotonic, an anomalous behavior was observed for variations of log Kf vs the composition of H2+O/1-PrOH and H2+O/MeOH mixed solvents. The selectivity order of the DC18C6 ligand for the cations was found to be Pb2+ > Tl+ > Cd2+.  相似文献

Summary NMR-spectroscopic investigations of substituted dithiocarbacinic acid derivatives show the existence of configurational isomers relative to the C=N double bond, but no tautomerism. We applied chemical shift differences in the1H-,13C- and15N-NMR-spectra, N - H and C - H coupling constants and NOE difference measurements in the solvents CDCl3,DMSO-d 6 and partly CD3OD in order to discriminate between the isomers and to determine the configurational composition. Compounds4 and5 exist asE-isomers in all solvents, compounds1, 2 and3 as a mixture ofE/Z-isomers. InDMSO-d 6 theE-form is the preferred isomer.

Nitropyrazoles
The structures of substitutedN-aminonitropyrazoles and 1- and 2-amino-4-nitro-1,2,3-triazoles as well as the site of protonation of 1-aminopyrazole were determined based on the1H,13C, and15N (14N) NMR spectra. The13C NMR spectra were recorded under conditions of13C-{1H,14N} triple resonance. Effects of substituents in the pyrazole ring on the13C and14N chemical shifts were studied. The13C,1H and15N,1H spin-spin coupling constants, obtained using techniques of [1H]13C and [1H]15N polarization transfer (SPT, INEPT), were measured, fully assigned, and discussed.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. Conductance data for sodium nitrite, chloride, and acetate in water andN,N-dimethylformamide (DMF)-water mixtures (74.82D42.48) for the concentration range 0.001–0.04N, as well as the densities, viscosities, and dielectric constants of the solvent mixtures at 35°C, are reported. The data have been analyzed by the Fuoss (1975) equation. The existence of a maximum in the viscosity at a 13 mole ratio of DMF and water is indicated. The Walden products for all the three salts pass through a maximum while the equivalent conductances show a minimum with increasing DMF content. The maxima in the Walden product are attributed to the dehydration of ions by the cosolvent (DMF).Part I:Indian J. Chem. 14A, 1015 (1976).Deceased.  相似文献

Silylotropy in 4-substitutedN-trimethylsilypyrazoles is studied by dynamic1H,13C, and29Si NMR spectroscopy. The catalytic 1,2-migration of a trimethylsilyl group in 4-halo-N-trimethylsilylpyrazoles was detected. Silylotropy inN-trimethylsilylpyrazoles in the presence of halogens of trimethylhalosilanes is believed to proceed through formation ofN,N-bis(trimethylsilyl)pyrazolium salts, the barrier of silylotropy in pyrazoles being markedly reduced.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. Chloride complexation of cobalt(II), nickel(II) and zinc(II) ions has been studied by calorimetry and spectrophotometry in N-methylformamide (NMF) containing 1.0 mol-dm− 3 (n-C4H9)4NClO4 as an ionic medium at 298 K. A series of mononuclear complexes, MCln(2 -n) + (M=Co, Ni and Zn) with n = 1, 3 and 4 for cobalt(II), n = 1 for nickel(II), and n = 1–4 for zinc(II), are formed and their formation constants, enthalpies and entropies were obtained. It revealed that complexation is suppressed significantly in NMF relative to that in N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) in all metal systems examined. The suppressed complexation in NMF is mainly ascribed to the smaller formation entropies in NMF reflecting that the solvent–solvent interaction or solvent structure in the bulk NMF is much stronger than that in the bulk DMF. Formation entropies, Δ S1o, of the monochloro complex in DMF, dimethyl sulfoxide and NMF are well correlated with the Marcus’ solvent parameter, Δ Δv So/R, according to Δ S1o/R = aΔ Δv So/R+b. The a value is negative and similar in all metal systems examined, whereas the b value depends on the metal system. When a gaseous ion is introduced into a solvent, the ionic process of solvation is divided into two stages: the ion destroys the bulk solvent structure to isolate solvent molecules at the first stage and the ion then coordinates a part of isolated solvent molecules around it at the second stage. We propose that the a and b values may reflect the changes in the freedom of motion of solvent molecules at the first and second stages, respectively, of the ionic process of solvation.  相似文献

The behaviour of 1-(2-bromoethyl) 4-nitrobenzene (1), N,N,N-triethyl-2-(4-nitrophenyl)ethanaminium bromide (2) and N,N-diethyl-N-[2-(4-nitrophenyl)ethyl]octan-1-aminium bromide (3) in the OH-induced elimination reactions with formation of 1-nitro-4-vinylbenzene in mixtures of DMSO/H2O or CH3CN/H2O has been investigated. With all three substrates an increase in dipolar aprotic solvent content implies a limited increase of the second-order rate constant k OH up to ≅605, and then an exponential increase is observed. The variation of activation parameters ΔH # and dGS #, measured in DMSO/H2O mixtures, is parallel for 1 and 2. This similar behaviour of 1 and 2 with respect to variation in solvent composition is evidence that it is not possible to use this technique of solvent effect for the mechanistic diagnosis of elimination reactions.  相似文献

Thermodynamics of complexation of cesium cation by dibenzo-24-crown-8 was studied in three binary solvent mixtures: acetonitrile-nitromethane (AN/NM),N,N-dimethylformamide-nitromethane (DMF/NM) and acetonitrile-propylene carbonate (AN/PC) using the133Cs-NMR technique. In all cases the variation of the formation constant,K f, with the solvent composition was monotonic:K f increased as the mole-% of the solvent of low donicity was increased. The temperature dependence ofK f indicated that the complexes are generally enthalpy stabilized, but entropy destabilized. The enthalpy and entropy of complexation reactions are quite sensitive to the solvent composition. However, their variation with solvent composition was not monotonic but showed maxima or minima at the isosolvation points of the cation or the complexed cation. In all cases an enthalpy-entropy compensating effect was observed.  相似文献
