Three ferrocenyl Schiff bases containing a phenol moiety have been formed by 1:1 molar condensation of acetylferrocene with 2‐aminophenol, 2‐amino‐5‐picoline or 2‐amino‐5‐chlorophenol. These ligands form 2:1 complexs with cobalt(II), copper(II), nickel(II), and zinc(II) ions. From the different spectral data, it was found that coordination of the ligands with the metal ions takes place via the azomethine nitrogen atoms and the deprotonated oxygen of the phenol groups. These ligands and their complexes have been characterized by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, UV–Vis spectra, and elemental analysis. The spectral data of the ligands and their complexes are discussed in connection with the structural changes due to complexation. The complexes prepared showed good antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilus, and Candida albicans. Copyright © 2004 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A novel diazadiphosphetidine ligand derived from the reaction of 2,4‐dichloro‐1,3‐dimethyl‐1,3,2,4‐diazadiphosphetidine‐2,4‐dioxide and 2,2′‐(ethane‐1,2‐diylbis[oxy])bis(ethan‐1‐amine) and its Ni(II), Cu(II), and Co(II) complexes have been synthesized, characterized by spectroscopic, elemental analyses, magnetic susceptibility, and conductivity methods, and screened for antimicrobial, DNA binding, and cleavage properties. Spectroscopic analysis and elemental analyses indicate the formula [M(H2L)Cl2] for the Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II), and Zn(II) complexes and octahedral geometry for all the complexes. The non‐electrolytic nature of the complexes in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) was confirmed by their molar conductance values, which are in the range 12.32–6.73 Ω?1 cm2 mol?1. Computational studies have been carried out at the density functional theory (DFT)‐B3LYP/6‐31G(d) level of theory on the structural and spectroscopic properties of diazadiphosphetidine H2L and its binuclear Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II), and Zn(II) complexes. Six tautomers and geometrical isomers of the diazadiphosphetidine ligand were confirmed using semiempirical AM1 and DFT method from DMOL3 calculations. The copper complex had the best antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 29213). DNA cleavage activities of the compounds, evaluated on pBR322 DNA by agarose gel electrophoresis in the presence and absence of an oxidant (H2O2) and a free‐radical scavenger (DMSO), indicated no activity for the ligand and moderate activity for the complexes, with the copper complex cleaving pBR322 DNA more efficiently in the presence of H2O2.  相似文献

Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes of 5‐mercapto‐1,2,4‐triazol‐3‐imine‐2′‐hydroxynaphthaline have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1H NMR, EI‐mass, UV‐Vis, and ESR (electron spin resonance) spectra, molar conductance, magnetic moment measurements, DC conductivity and thermogravimetric analysis. IR spectra confirm that the ligand molecule existed in both thione and thiole forms. The molar conductance values indicate the complexes are nonelectrolyte. The magnetic moment values of the complexes display paramagnetic behavior. All studies confirm the formation of an octahedral geometry for complex 1 and the other complexes have tetrahedral geometrical structures. The structures of the complexes have also been theoretically studied by using the molecular mechanic calculations by the hyperchem. 8.03 molecular modeling program which confirm the proposed structures. The Schiff‐base ligand and its metal complexes have also been screened for their antimicrobial activities.  相似文献

To survey the influence of aza‐aromatic co‐ligands on the structure of Cadmium(II) sulfonates, three Cd(II) complexes with mixed‐ligand, [CdII(ANS)2(phen)2] ( 1 ), [CdII(ANS)2(2,2′‐bipy)2] ( 2 ) and [CdII(ANS)2(4,4′‐bipy)2]n ( 3 ) (ANS = 2‐aminonaphthalene‐1‐sulfonate; phen = 1,10‐phenanthroline; 2,2′‐bipy = 2,2′‐bipyridine; 4,4′‐bipy = 4,4′‐bipyridine) were synthesized by hydrothermal methods and structurally characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectra, and single crystal X‐ray diffraction. Of the three complexes, ANS consistently coordinates to Cd2+ ion as a monodentate ligand. While phen in 1 and 2,2′‐bipy in 2 act as N,N‐bidentate chelating ligands, leading to the formation of a discrete mononuclear unit; 4,4′‐bipy in 3 bridges two CdII atoms in bis‐monodentate fashion to produce a 2‐D layered network, suggesting that the conjugate skeleton and the binding site of the co‐ligands have a moderate effect on molecular structure, crystal stacking pattern, and intramolecular weak interactions. In addition, the three complexes exhibit similar luminescent emissions originate from the transitions between the energy levels of sulfonate anions.  相似文献

Six new macrocyclic complexes were synthesized by a template reaction of 1,4-bis(2-formylphenoxy)butane with diamines and Cu(NO3)2·3H2O and their structures were proposed on the basis of elemental analysis, FT-IR, UV-Vis, magnetic susceptibility measurements, molar conductivity measurements and mass spectra. The metal to ligand molar ratios of the Cu(Ⅱ) complexes were found to be 1 : 1. The Cu(Ⅱ) complexes are 1 : 2 electrolytes as shown by their molar conductivities (∧m) in DMF at 10^-3 mol·L^-1. Due to the existence of free ions the Cu(Ⅱ) complexes are electrically conductive. Their configurations were proposed to be probably distorted octahedral.  相似文献

The absolute necessity to fight some class of tumor is perceived as serious health concerns, so the discovery and development of effective anticancer agents are urgently needed. (E)‐4‐((2‐hydroxyphenyl)diazenyl)‐3‐phenyl‐1H‐pyrazol‐5(4H)‐one, HL, and its Ni(II), Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes were synthesized and the biological activity was evaluated for antitumor, antioxidant and antimicrobial activity as well as DNA cleavage. Their structures were assigned depending on the elemental analysis, conductivity, magnetic moment, spectral measurements (IR, 1HNMR, mass and UV–Vis) and thermal analysis. 3D molecular modeling using DFT method confirmed that the geometrical structures agree well with the suggested experimental ones. The antitumor activity was evaluated against four different cell lines using MTT assay. The ligand HL showed a potent cytotoxic activity compared to 5‐fluorouracil as a reference drug. For metal complexes, the order of activity was: Pd(II) > Ni(II) > Pt(II). A remarkable antioxidant activity for the ligand HL was recorded. It was higher than that of the metal complexes. Results of antimicrobial experiments revealed that all compounds were moderate to highly active against selected bacterial strains but inactive as antifungal except Pd(II) which showed a moderate antifungal activity. Gel electrophoresis showed insignificant nucleases activity for the ligand or its metal complexes even in the presence of H2O2 providing protection of DNA from damage. The antitumor activity of our compounds may be not due to DNA cleavage but may be referred to a mechanism similar to that of 5‐fluorouracil which interfere with DNA replication. The present work suggests the use of this ligand in the design and development of new anticancer drugs.  相似文献

Two metal‐organic coordination polymers with one‐dimensional infinite chain motif, [Cd(bqdc)(phen)2]n ( 1 ) and [Co(bqdc)(phen)(H2O)2]n ( 2 ) (H2bqdc = 2,2′‐biquinoline‐4,4′‐dicarboxylic acid, phen = 1,10‐phenanthroline), have been synthesized under similar solv/hydrothermal conditions and fully structural characterized by elemental analysis, IR, and single‐crystal X‐ray crystallography. Their thermal stability and photoluminescence properties were further investigated by TG‐DTA and fluorescence spectra. In both complexes, the adjacent metal ions (CdII for 1 and CoII for 2 ) are linked together by dicarboxylate groups of bqdc dianions in chelating bidentate and monodentate modes, respectively, generating a zigzag chain for 1 and linear chain for 2 . The relatively higher thermal stability up to 324 °C for 1 and strong fluorescence emissions jointly suggest that they are good candidates for luminescent materials.  相似文献

A novel bi‐nucleating Schiff base ligand, 6,6′‐(((1E,1′E)‐thiophene‐2,5‐diylbis (methaneylylidene))bis (azaneylylidene))bis (3,4‐dimethylaniline), and five binuclear M (II) complexes were synthesized. The bi‐nucleating Schiff base ligand and its metal complexes were characterized using various physicochemical techniques, e.g. elemental analyses, spectroscopic methods, conductivity and magnetic moment measurements. The low molar conductance of the complexes in dimethylsulfoxide shows their non‐electrolytic nature. The antibacterial activities were screened against pathogenic bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas putida and Bacillus subtilis). The antifungal activity was screened against Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus flavus and Rhizoctonia bataicola. The antimicrobial activity data showed that the metal complexes are more potent than the parent Schiff base ligand against microorganisms. The antioxidant activities of the synthesized compounds were investigated through scavenging activity against 2,2‐diphenyl‐2‐picrylhydrazyl, superoxide anion, hydroxyl and 2,2′‐ azinobis (3‐ethylbenzothiazoline‐6‐sulfonic acid) radicals. The complexes have superior radical scavenging activity than the free ligand and the scavenging effects of the Cu (II) complex are stronger than those of the other complexes. DNA binding studies were performed using electronic spectroscopy, fluorometric competition studies and viscosity measurements. The data indicated that there is a marked enhancement in biocidal activity of the ligand under similar experimental conditions because of coordination with metal ions.  相似文献

The synthesis and characterization of Ru (II) terpyridine complexes derived from 4′ functionalized 2,2′:6′,2″‐terpyridine (tpy) ligands are reported. The heteroleptic complexes comprise the synthesized ligands 4′‐(2‐thienyl)‐ 2,2′:6′,2″‐terpyridine) or (4′‐(3,4‐dimethoxyphenyl)‐2,2′:6′,2″‐terpyridine and (dimethyl 5‐(pyrimidin‐5‐yl)isophthalate). The new complexes [Ru(4′‐(2‐thienyl)‐2,2′:6′,2″‐terpyridine)(5‐(pyrimidin‐5‐yl)‐isophthalic acid)Cl2] ( 9 ), [Ru(4′‐(3,4‐dimethoxyphenyl)‐2,2′:6′,2″‐terpyridine)(5‐(pyrimidin‐5‐yl)‐isophthalic acid)Cl2] ( 10 ), and [Ru(4′‐(2‐thienyl)‐2,2′:6′,2″‐terpyridine)(5‐(pyrimidin‐5‐yl)‐isophthalic acid)(NCS)2] ( 11 ) were characterized by 1H‐ and 13C‐NMR spectroscopy, C, H, N, and S elemental analysis, UPLC‐ESI‐MS, TGA, FT‐IR, and UV‐Vis spectroscopy. The biological activities of the synthesized ligands and their Ru (II) complexes as anti‐inflammatory, antimicrobial, and anticancer agents were evaluated. Furthermore, the toxicity of the synthesized compounds was studied and compared with the standard drugs, namely, diclofenac potassium and ibuprofen, using hemolysis assay. The results indicated that the ligands and the complex 9 possess superior anti‐inflammatory activities inhibiting albumin denaturation (89.88–100%) compared with the standard drugs (51.5–88.37%) at a concentration of 500 μg g?1. These activities were related to the presence of the chelating N‐atoms in the ligands and the exchangeable chloro‐ groups in the complex. Moreover, the chloro‐ and thiophene groups in complex 9 produce a higher anticancer activity compared with its isothiocyanate derivative in the complex 11 and the 3,4‐dimethoxyphenyl moiety in complex 10 . Considering the toxicity results, the synthesized ligands are nontoxic or far less toxic compared with the standard drugs and the metal complexes. Therefore, these newly synthesized compounds are promising anti‐inflammatory agents in addition to their moderate unique broad antimicrobial activity.  相似文献

Novel zinc(II), copper(II), and cobalt(II) complexes of the Schiff base derived from 2‐hydroxy‐1‐naphthaldehyde and D, L ‐selenomethionine were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, electronic spectra, conductance measurements, magnetic measurements and powder XRD. The analytical data showed the composition of the metal complex to be ML(H2O), where L is the Schiff base ligand and M = Co(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II). IR results confirmed the tridentate binding of the Schiff base ligand involving azomethine nitrogen, naphthol oxygen and carboxylato oxygen atoms. 1H NMR spectral data of lithium salt of the Schiff base ligand [Li(HL)] and ZnL(H2O) agreed with the proposed structures. The conductivity values of complexes between 12.50 and 15.45 S cm2 mol?1 in DMF suggested the presence of non‐electrolyte species. The powder XRD studies indicated that Co(II) complex is amorphous, whereas Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes are crystalline. The results of antibacterial and antifungal screening studies indicated that Li(HL) and its metal complexes are active, but CuL(H2O) is most active among them. 4-Morpholinoacetophenone thiosemicarbazone, MAPT, and its nickel(Ⅱ) and copper(Ⅱ) complexes have been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, magnetic susceptibility, spectral methods (FT-IR, ^1H NMR) and cyclic voltammetry. Electrochemical behaviors of the complexes have been studied by cyclic voltammetry in DMF media showing metal centered reduction processes for both of them. The redox properties, nature of the electrode processes and the stability of the complexes were discussed. [Cu(MAPT)2]Cl2 complex shows Cu(Ⅱ)/Cu(Ⅰ) couple and quasi-reversible wave associated with the Cu(Ⅲ)/Cu(Ⅱ) process. The reduction/oxidation potential values depend on the structures of complexes. Also, the antimicrobial activities of these complexes were determined against S. aureus, E. coli and B. subtilis.  相似文献

Two new coordination polymers, {[Cd2(btc)(2,2′‐bpy)2] · H2O}n ( 1 ) and [Zn2(btc)(2,2′‐bpy)(H2O)]n ( 2 ) (H4btc = biphenyl‐2,2′,4,4′‐tetracarboxylic acid, 2,2′‐bpy = 2,2′‐bipyridine), were synthesized hydrothermally under similar conditions and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectra, TGA, and single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction analysis. In complexes 1 and 2 , the (btc)4– ligand acts as connectors to link metal ions to give a 2D bilayer network of 1 and a 3D metal‐organic framework of 2 , respectively. The differences in the structures are induced by diverging coordination modes of the (btc)4– ligand, which can be attributed to the difference metal ions in sizes. The results indicate that metal ions have significant effects on the formation and structures of the final complexes. Additionally, the fluorescent properties of the two complexes were also studied in the solid state at room temperature.  相似文献

A new 4‐hydroxy‐3‐carboxycoumarin ligand and its ruthenium(II) complexes ( 1 – 5 ) have been synthesized, characterized and screened for their in vitro antibacterial activity against a range of Gram‐positive and Gram‐negative bacteria. In addition, compounds 1 – 5 were investigated for antioxidant activities using superoxide radical, 2,2‐diphenyl‐1‐picrylhydrazyl radical and hydroxyl radical scavenging assays, in which most of them displayed significant antioxidant activities. Furthermore, compounds 1 – 5 were evaluated for anti‐inflammatory activity using indirect haemolytic and lipoxygenase inhibition assays and revealed good activity. The new complexes were characterized using spectroscopic methods in addition to elemental analysis.  相似文献

A new Schiff base was prepared from the reaction of 4,4′‐methylenedianiline with 2‐benzoylpyridine in 1:2 molar ratio, as well as its different metal chelates. The structures of the ligand and its metal complexes were studied by elemental analyses, spectroscopic methods (infrared [IR ], ultraviolet–visible [UV –vis], 1H nuclear magnetic resonance [NMR ], electron spin resonance [ESR ]), magnetic moment measurements, and thermal studies. The ligand acts as tetradentate moiety in all complexes. Octahedral geometry was suggested for Mn(II ), Cu(II ), Cr(III ), and Zn(II ) chloride complexes and pentacoordinated structure and square planar geometry for Co(II ), Ni(II ), Cu(NO3 )2, CuBr2 , and Pd(II ) complexes. ESR spectra of copper(II ) complexes ( 4 )–( 6 ) at room temperature display rhombic symmetry for complex ( 4 ) and axial type symmetry for complexes ( 5 ) and ( 6 ), indicating ground state for Cu(II ) complexes. The derivative thermogravimetric (DTG ) curves of the ligand and its metal complexes were analyzed by using the rate equation to calculate the thermodynamic and kinetic parameters, which indicated strong binding of the ligand with the metal ion in some complexes. Also, some of these compounds were screened to establish their potential as anticancer agents against the human hepatic cell line Hep‐G2 . The obtained IC50 value of the copper(II ) bromide complex (4.34 µg/mL ) is the highest among the compounds studied.  相似文献

The tetradentate Schiff base ligand (SB), N,N′‐bis‐(2‐mercaptophenylimine)‐2,5‐thiophenedicarboxaldehyde was prepared via condensation of 2,5‐thiophene‐dicarboxaldehyde with 2‐aminothiophenol in a 1:2 molar ratio by conventional method. Additionally, its Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes have been synthesized and fully characterized by elemental analysis, FT‐IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, UV–Vis, ESR, ESI‐mass, conductivity and magnetic susceptibility measurements. Spectral studies suggested that, the Schiff base coordinate metal ions through the azomethine N‐ and deprotonated thiol S‐ atoms. Based on UV–Vis absorption and magnetic susceptibility data, tetrahedral geometry was assigned for both Co(II) and Zn(II) complexes, whereas on the other hand, square planar geometry for both Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes. The Schiff base and its metal complexes were screened for their in vitro antimicrobial activity by minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) method. Free radical scavenging activity of the novel compounds was determined by elimination of 2,2‐diphenyl‐1‐picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radicals. In addition, the interactions of the free ligand and its complexes with calf thymus DNA (CT‐DNA) were explored using absorption, emission and viscosity measurements techniques.  相似文献

Three coordination polymers, namely {[Cu(5‐nipa)(L22)](H2O)2}n ( 1 ), [Zn(5‐nipa)(L22)(H2O)]n ( 2 ), and {[Cd2(5‐nipa)2(L22)(H2O)3](H2O)3.6}n ( 3 ), were prepared under similar synthetic method based on 1,2‐(2‐pyridyl)‐1,2,4‐triazole (L22) and ancillary ligand 5‐nitro‐isophthalic acid (5‐H2nipa) with CuII, ZnII, and CdII perchlorate, respectively. All the complexes were characterized by IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis, and powder X‐ray diffraction (PXRD) patterns. Single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction indicates that complexes 1 and 2 show similar 1D chain structures, whereas complex 3 exhibits the 2D coordination network with hcb topology. The central metal atoms show distinct coordination arrangements ranging from distorted square‐pyramid for CuII in 1 , octahedron for ZnII in 2 , to pentagonal‐bipyramid for CdII in 3 . The L22 ligand adopts the same (η32) coordination fashion in complexes 1 – 3 , while the carboxyl groups of co‐ligand 5‐nipa2– adopt monodentate fashion in 1 and 2 and bidentate chelating mode in 3 . These results indicate that the choice of metal ions exerts a significant influence on governing the target complexes. Furthermore, thermal stabilities of complexes 1 – 3 and photoluminescent properties of 2 and 3 were also studied in the solid state.  相似文献

A series of newly synthesized coumarin‐based mixed‐ligand copper complexes with 1,10‐phenanthroline (Ph) were investigated by means of thermogravimetry, differential thermogravimetry, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), electronic spectra and magnetic measurements. Structural and spectroscopic properties of neutral bidentate ligands as well as all complexes were studied on the basis of mass spectra, NMR (1H and 13C) spectra, FT‐IR spectrophotometry and elemental analyses. IR spectral data suggest tetra‐coordinated N2O2 bonding of ligand toward metal ion. Dynamic scan of DSC experiments for copper complexes were obtained at different heating rates (2.5–20°C min?1). Isoconversion methods of Kissinger and Ozawa were used for the determination of the pre‐exponential factor (A), activation energy (Ea) and order of reaction (n). Kinetic parameters for second‐step degradation obtained by Kissinger's and Ozawa's methods are in good agreement. The results indicate that complexes are much stronger free radical scavenger and antioxidant compounds than ligands. Antimycobacterial screening of ligand and its copper compound against Mycobacterium tuberculosis shows clear enhancement in antitubercular activity upon copper complexation. Also good antimicrobial activities of the complexes against Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhus, Aspergillus niger, Candida albicans and Aspergillus clavatus have been found compared to its free ligands. In this work, four bimetallic Ru(II)–Ir(III) complexes with the general formula [(bpy)2Ru(bpm)Ir(C^N)2](PF6)3 (bpy = 2,2‐bipyridine, bpm = 2,2′‐bipyrimidine, C^N = 2‐phenylpyridinato ( 2 ), (2‐p‐tolyl)pyridinato ( 3 ), 2‐(2,4‐difluorophenyl)pyridinato ( 4 ), and 2‐thienylpyridinato ( 5 )) were synthesized. Complexes 2 – 5 were characterized by NMR spectroscopy, high‐resolution mass spectrometry, and elemental analysis. The structures of the complexes 2 and 4 were further confirmed by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction analysis. All the complexes display strong absorption in the high‐energy UV region assigned to intraligand (IL) transitions, and the lower energy bands are ascribed to metal‐to‐ligand charge transfer (MLCT) transitions. The reduction and oxidation behavior of the complexes 2 – 5 were examined by cyclic voltammetry. Variation of the ligands on Ir(III) center resulted in significant changes in electrochemical properties.  相似文献

A heterocyclic Schiff base was prepared by condensing 3‐acetylcoumarin with 2‐amino‐3‐carboxyethyl‐4,5,6,7‐tetrahydrobenzo[b ]thiophene. Such Schiff bases derived from two different heterocyclic moieties are rare and expected to have properties surpassing those of either of the parent compounds in effectiveness of complex formation and biological activities. This ligand formed a series of complexes with manganese(II), cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II), and zinc(II) ions. The ligand and the metal complexes were characterized by various physicochemical and spectral studies. These included elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility, as well as UV–vis, IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and ESR spectral studies. The ESR spectral data adequately supported the covalent nature of the metal–ligand bonds. The ligand possessed a hexagonal crystal structure, but on complexation the crystallinity was lost. The fluorescence spectra of the ligand and its metal complexes in DMSO were also recorded. The ligand and the metal complexes were screened for their antimicrobial activities, and it was observed that the metal complexes are more active than the ligand. The α‐amylase inhibitory activity and the DNA cleavage activity of the ligand and the metal complexes were also examined. in vitro antitumor activity of the copper(II) complex was assayed against human cervical carcinoma cells (HeLa cell line), showing that the complex exhibited promising antitumor activity on the HeLa cell line.  相似文献
