One determines all the minimal surfaces of the isotropic space, which simultaneously are affinminimal surfaces. A characteristic property of those surfaces is that the isotropic spherical imagines of the asymptotic lines of form two orthogonal pencils of circles. There are three types of such surfaces : first the well known right helicoid I , second an interesting transcendental surface II , and third the isotropic analogy III of the minimal surface ofEnneper. The surfaces permit cinematic generations. Especially II and III can be generated byClifford screws in a certain indefinite quasielliptic space. In the isotropic space conjugate to the surfaces are isotropic minimal surfaces * with plane lines of curvature. There are also three types of such surfaces: I * is a logarithmic surface of revolution, II * is an interesting transcendental surface, and III * is again the isotropic minimal surface ofEnnerper.  相似文献

Let M f(r) and f(r) be, respectively, the maximum of the modulus and the maximum term of an entire function f and let be a continuously differentiable function convex on (–, +) and such that x = o((x)) as x +. We establish that, in order that the equality be true for any entire function f, it is necessary and sufficient that ln (x) = o((x)) as x +.  相似文献

LetP=(P, L) be a compact projective plane with 0P< and let be a compact connected subgroup of Aut(P). If dim dimE – dimP, whereE is the elliptic motion group of the corresponding classical plane, then E or is isomorphic to a point stabilizerE 0 inE, cf. [31]. Here we consider the case E 0. It is shown that the action of on the point spaceP is equivalent to the classical action ofE 0. For dimP {8, 16} the planeP is uniquely determined by a 2-dimensional subplane with SO2 Aut().Für H. Summary Letq Q be an algebraic number of modulus one that is not a root of unity. LetP Q[X, Y 0,Y 1] be a non zero polynomial. In this paper, we show that every formal power series,(z) Q[[z]], solution of the functional equationP(z), (z), (qz)) = 0 has a non zero radius of convergence.

We study (set-valued) mappings of bounded -variation defined on the compact interval I and taking values in metric or normed linear spaces X. We prove a new structural theorem for these mappings and extend Medvedev's criterion from real valued functions onto mappings with values in a reflexive Banach space, which permits us to establish an explicit integral formula for the -variation of a metric space valued mapping. We show that the linear span GV (I;X) of the set of all mappings of bounded -variation is automatically a Banach algebra provided X is a Banach algebra. If h:I× X Y is a given mapping and the composition operator is defined by (f)(t)=h(t,f(t)), where tI and f:I X, we show that :GV (I;X) GV (I;Y) is Lipschitzian if and only if h(t,x)=h0(t)+h1(t)x, tI, xX. This result is further extended to multivalued composition operators with values compact convex sets. We prove that any (not necessarily convex valued) multifunction of bounded -variation with respect to the Hausdorff metric, whose graph is compact, admits regular selections of bounded -variation.  相似文献

We consider forn=0, 1,... the nested spaces n of rational functions of degreen at most with given poles . Given a finite measure supported on the unit circle, we associate with it a nested orthogonal basis of rational functions 0,..., n for n ,n=0, 1,.... These n satisfy a recurrence relation that generalizes the recurrence for Szeg polynomials. In this paper we shall prove a Favard type theorem which says that if one has a sequence of rational functions n n which are generated by such a recurrence, then there will be a measure supported on the unit circle to which they are orthogonal. We shall give a sufficient condition for the uniqueness of this measure.  相似文献

Given a symmetric polynomial (x, y) over a perfect field k of characteristic zero, the Galois graph G() is defined by taking the algebraic closure as the vertex set and adjacencies corresponding to the zeroes of (x, y). Some graph properties of G(), such as lengths of walks, distances and cycles are described in terms of . Symmetry is also considered, relating the Galois group Gal( /k) to the automorphism group of certain classes of Galois graphs. Finally, an application concerning modular curves classifying pairs of isogeny elliptic curves is revisited.  相似文献

Consider a non-singular real algebraic varietyM together with a codimension 1 real algebraic setY M. SupposeY=–1(0) for a smooth function :M and denote by the signature induced by onMY. The following results are proved. For compactM, is induced by a regular functionf R(M) if and only if the setY c, where changes sign, is the union of the (d–1)-dimensional parts of some irreducible components ofY if and only if can be approximated by regular functions with the same zero-set. For non-compactM this is true only ifR(M) is a factorial ring. Similar results are proved whenM andY are real analytic instead of algebraic.Dedicated to the memory of our friend Mario RaimondoThe authors are members of GNSAGA of CNR. If two subspaces V and V of a sesquilinear space E are congruent (i.e., there is an isometry : E E with (V)=V) then their corresponding quadratic lattices V(V, E) and V(V, E) are isomorphic. It is shown that the converse holds for important types of sesquilinear spaces E, provided that dim(E) 3. However, the converse generally fails if dim(E) 3.  相似文献

The following theorems are proved about the Frattini-free componentG of a soluble stable -group: a) If it has a normal subgroupN with nilpotent quotientG /N, then there is a nilpotent subgroupH ofG withG =NH. b) It has Carter subgroups; if the group is small, they are all conjugate. c) Nilpotency modulo a suitable Frattini-subgroup (to be defined) implies nilpotency. The last result makes use of a new structure theorem for the centre of the derivative of the Frattini-free component of a centreless soluble -group.  相似文献

Let be a Guelfand measure (cf. [A, B]) on a locally compact groupG DenoteL 1 (G)=*L 1(G)* the commutative Banach algebra associated to . We show thatL 1 (G) is semi-simple and give a characterization of the closed ideals ofL 1 (G). Using the -spherical Fourier transform, we characterize all linear bounded operators inL 1 (G) which are invariants by -translations (i.e. such that 1(( x f) )=( x ((f)) for eachxG andfL 1 (G); where x f(y)=f(xy); x,y G). WhenG is compact, we study the algebraL 1 (G) and obtain results analogous to ones obtained for the commutative case: we show thatL 1 (G) is regular, all closed sets of its Guelfand spectrum are sets of synthesis and establish theorems of harmonic synthesis for functions inL p (G) (p=1,2 or +).

A class of nonseparable dynamic programming problems   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
A solution procedure is proposed for a class of deterministic sequential decision problems whose objective functions are of the form f n(x n)+(g n(x n)) where is differentiable and either concave or convex. The procedure calls for the collaboration between dynamic programming and c-programming, and is demonstrated in our treatment of a minimum variance type problem.  相似文献

Summary. We prove a BV estimate for scalar conservation laws that generalizes the classical Total Variation Diminishing property. In fact, for any Lipschitz continuous monotone :, we have that |(u)|TV() is nonincreasing in time. We call this property Total Oscillation Diminishing because it is in contradiction with the oscillations observed recently in some numerical computations based on TVD schemes. We also show that semi-discrete Total Variation Diminishing finite volume schemes are TOD and that the fully discrete Godunov scheme is TOD.Mathematics Subject Classification (2000): 35L65, 35K55, 65M20  相似文献

Summary Let be a weighted Schwartz's space of rapidly decreasing functions, the dual space and (t) a perturbed diffusion operator with polynomial coefficients from into itself. It is proven that (t) generates the Kolmogorov evolution operator from into itself via stochastic method. As applications, we construct a unique solution of a Langevin's equation on : whereW(t) is a Brownian motion and *(t) is the adjoint of (t) and show a central limit theorem for interacting multiplicative diffusions.  相似文献

Let G be a group, let A be an Abelian group, and let n be an integer such that n –1. In the paper, the sets n (G,A) of functions from G into A of degree not greater than n are studied. In essence, these sets were introduced by Logachev, Sal'nikov, and Yashchenko. We describe all cases in which any function from G into A is of bounded (or not necessarily bounded) finite degree. Moreover, it is shown that if G is finite, then the study of the set n (G,A) is reduced to that of the set n(G/O p (G),A p ) for primes p dividing G/G. Here O p (G) stands for the p-coradical of the group G, A p for the p-component of A, and G for the commutator subgroup of G.  相似文献

Let F be a field of characteristic different from 2. We discuss a new descent problem for quadratic forms, complementing the one studied by Kahn and Laghribi. More precisely, we conjecture that for any quadratic form q over F and any Im(W(F) W(F(q))), there exists a quadratic form W(F) such that dim 2 dim and F(q), where F(q) is the function field of the projective quadric defined by q = 0. We prove this conjecture for dim 3 and any q, and get partial results for dim {4, 5,6}. We also give other related results.  相似文献

Let E be a symmetric space on [0,1]. Let (,E) be the space of measurable functions f such that fg E for every almost everywhere convergent series g=b n r n E, where (r n) are the Rademacher functions. It was shown that, for a broad class of spaces E, the space (,E) is not order isomorphic to a symmetric space, and we study the conditions under which such an isomorphism exists. We give conditions on E for (,E) to be order isomorphic to L . This includes some classes of Lorentz and Marcinkiewicz spaces. We also study the conditions under which (,E) is order isomorphic to a symmetric space that differs from L . The answer is positive for the Orlicz spaces E=L q with q(t)=exp|t|q-1 and 0相似文献

Summary We show that if s(t, x) is the local time of a Brownian motion B, and (t)=(2t¦log|logt)1/2 then –m({s=x})=s(t,x) for all t>=0 and x real a.s., where m(E) is the Hausdorff -measure of E. This solves a problem of Taylor and Wendel who proved the above equality, up to a multiplicative constant, for x=0.  相似文献
