Modulation grating has been achieved by two interfered femtosecond laser pulses on the surface of the silica glass. The modulation grating formed at the middle of each bulge of the common grating and was attributed to the higher-order modulation arising from second-harmonic generation (SHG) of the femtosecond laser pulse incident to the surface of silica glass. The periods and depths of the fundamental grating and the modulation grating have been observed by using an atomic force microscopy (AFM). Experimental results show that the average depth of the modulation grating is nearly a half of the depth of the fundamental grating.  相似文献

Two fabrication methods of surface relief electro-optic (EO) gratings in azo-polymer films are described: surface deformation by a continuous wave laser and laser ablation by a pulse laser. In the fabrication process, the periodic intensity modulation of laser beams is formed by an interference fringe or a phase mask. The surface relief EO grating is fabricated by poling the surface relief grating (SRG) after the SRG fabrication process. The linear dependence of an applied voltage in the modulation efficiency of the first-order diffraction beam is observed. The proposed methods are effective for highly-efficient surface relief EO grating fabrication.  相似文献

A 1.2 microm (height) x 125 microm (depth) x 500 microm (length) microslot along a fiber Bragg grating was engraved across the optical fiber by femtosecond laser patterning and chemical etching. By filling epoxy in the slot and subsequent UV curing, a hybrid waveguide grating structure with a polymer core and glass cladding was fabricated. The obtained device is highly thermally responsive with linear coefficient of 211 pm/ degrees C.  相似文献

The intracavity self-phase modulation in a picosecond Nd : glass laser and the external pulse compression in a grating pair arrangement is simulated. Fast-Fourier transforms are applied for the determination of the frequency spectra caused by self-phase modulation and the temporal shapes caused by grating pair pulse compression. Plasmonic structures are prepared on bimetal films evaporated onto glass substrates applying a multi-step process, and atomic force microscopy is utilized to study the structures after each step. Sub-micrometer gratings are generated on polycarbonate films spin-coated onto silver-gold bimetal layers by interference lithography (IL) applying the fourth harmonics of a Nd:YAG laser. These polymer gratings are used as prepatterned templates in order to deposit silica colloid spheres by spin-coating. It is shown that the conditions of periodic silica sphere-array formation along the template valleys are sufficiently large grating modulation depth, appropriate ratio of silica sphere diameter to grating period, and optimized speed of spinning. The periodic silica sphere arrays are illuminated by a homogeneous KrF excimer laser beam, and periodically arrayed sub-wavelength holes are drilled into bimetal films via colloid sphere lithography (CSL). The characteristic dimensions of the resulted plasmonic structures are defined by the polymer grating period and by the silica colloid sphere diameter. Attenuated total reflection spectroscopy is performed exciting plasmons on different metal-dielectric interfacial structures by the second harmonic of a continuous Nd:YAG laser. The polar and azimuthal angle dependent grating-coupling and scattering effects of the complex periodic structures on the resonance characteristic of plasmons is demonstrated.  相似文献

A cross-linked azopolymer with high optical and thermal stability was prepared. A pure polarization grating without surface topology was fabricated from cross-linked azopolymer by polarization holography by use of orthogonal linearly polarized beams from a He-Cd laser with a power density of 60 mW/cm(-2). The surface relief structure was investigated by atomic-force microscopy, and the polarization grating was observed by polarization optical microscopy. The grating spacing is 1.5 microm. The grating is stable at room temperature and can endure repeated writing-erasing.  相似文献

For the first time to our knowledge, high-strength (>30 dB) first-order Bragg grating waveguides were fabricated in bulk fused silica glass in a single-scanning step by modulating a high-repetition-rate femtosecond fiber laser with an external acousto-optic modulator. The modulation induced a waveguide segmentation by delivering controlled bursts of laser pulses to define an array of partially overlapped refractive index voxels. With appropriate choice of modulation frequency and sample scanning speed, low loss waveguides could be formed at high writing speeds to yield sharp Bragg spectral resonances tunable over the 1300 to 1550 nm telecom band. Effects of acousto-optic modulation duty cycle on propagation loss and grating strength are characterized. This modulation method offers facile control and integration of multiwavelength Bragg grating devices to enhance overall functionality of optical circuits in three-dimensional geometries.  相似文献

Gold plasmonic lenses consisting of a planar concentric rings-groove with different periods were milled with a focused gallium ion beam on a gold thin film deposited onto an Er3+-doped tellurite glass. The plasmonic lenses were vertically illuminated with an argon ion laser highly focused by means of a 50× objective lens. The focusing mechanism of the plasmonic lenses is explained using a coherent interference model of surface plasmon-polariton (SPP) generation on the circular grating due to the incident field. As a result, phase modulation can be accomplished by the groove gap, similar to a nanoslit array with different widths. This focusing allows a high confinement of SPPs that can excite the Er3+ ions of the glass. The Er3+ luminescence spectra were measured in the far-field (500?C750?nm wavelength range), where we could verify the excitation yield via the plasmonic lens on the Er3+ ions. We analyze the influence of the geometrical parameters on the luminescence spectra. The variation of these parameters results in considerable changes of the luminescence spectra.  相似文献

Novel optical attenuation fibers were fabricated by the irradiation of a focused infrared femtosecond pulsed laser onto the core of a silica glass single-mode optical fiber. Optical attenuation at a wavelength of 1.55 microm proportionally increased with increasing numbers of irradiation points and was controllable under laser irradiation conditions. The single-mode property of the waveguide and the mode-field diameter of the optical fiber were maintained after irradiation of the femtosecond laser. It is suggested that the attenuation results from optical scattering at photoinduced spots formed inside the fiber core.  相似文献

Thermal imprinting of transparent tin phosphate glass was performed at 250 degrees C using a fine-patterned silica mold. The glass sample was prepared by a conventional melt-quenching method and polished with a roughness of < or =10 nm for imprinting experiments. The imprinting temperature is optimized based on experimental viscosity data. Scanning electron microscope and atomic force microscope observations revealed that a square grid pattern has a surface roughness of < or =10 nm and 5 microm x 5 microm squares with ~1 microm intervals and 90-100 nm depth. Diffraction spots due to the micropattern are demonstrated by illuminating He-Ne laser light.  相似文献

利用二维耦合波理论,分析了超短脉冲激光光束被完全重叠型的局域体全息光栅衍射的时空变化性质,给出了衍射和透射脉冲激光光束沿光栅出射边界的强度时空分布。以LiNbO3晶体为例,数值研究了衍射光脉冲强度沿光栅出射边界的分布和脉冲波形的变化及光栅的总衍射效率受光栅二维尺寸、入射角度、光栅折射率调制度及入射脉冲的脉冲时域半峰全宽等条件的影响而变化的情况。与一维体全息光栅对超短脉冲激光光束衍射的性质,及此光栅对连续光衍射的性质作比较,给出了合理选择光栅参量及入射条件以在光栅出射边界上得到总衍射效率较大且分布较均匀的衍射光脉冲的方法。  相似文献

高能重复激光脉冲对光学元件损伤点的产生和扩展与损伤点对后续激光脉冲光强的调制作用密切相关。观察激光诱导K9玻璃的损伤点,发现损伤点是从里到外呈现辐射状分布,内部损伤程度最大,可致充分断裂;向外损伤程度减小,呈现辐射的应力相变,引起折射率变化;对损伤点的透射光谱检测发现其透过率下降大于20%,但是下降的幅度与波长无关,说明充分断裂的材料会对激光进行充分吸收,类似黑体吸收,其对入射光的吸收只与损伤点的面积有关。CCD对激光通过损伤点后的光强分布探测发现: 在激光能量传输过程中,损伤点会导致光强分布的不均匀,存在明显的散射效应,这会引起激光光强分布的不均匀性,导致损伤区域的进一步扩散。  相似文献

采用有机半导体发光材料聚[2-甲氧基-5-(2-乙基己氧基)-1,4-苯乙炔]作为增益介质,低官能度光敏单体制备的液晶/聚合物光栅作为外部反馈谐振腔,制备出参数可独立控制的分离式结构的有机半导体激光器.液晶/聚合物光栅中液晶分子的取向影响光栅折射率调制量,从而影响光栅的反馈能力,最终影响激光器出射激光的性能.通过研究发现决定液晶分子取向的主要有两种与光栅周期有关的作用力,利用这一原理制备不同周期的光栅,光栅周期小于450 nm时,相分离出的液晶分子取向由光栅矢量方向变为光栅沟槽方向,此时光栅的折射率调制量增加,光反馈能力增强.采用周期为395 nm的液晶/聚合物光栅制备二级布拉格散射的有机半导体激光器,相较于大周期光栅(593 nm)制备的激光器,激光阈值由0.70μJ/pulse降低至0.18μJ/pulse,转化效率由2.5%提高到6.4%,且出射激光垂直于基板表面发射,有利于后续的处理及应用.  相似文献

The surface of flint glass of type F2 is patterned by nanosecond KrF excimer laser ablation. Strong UV absorption provides a comparatively low ablation threshold and precise ablation contours. By using a two-grating interferometer, periodic surface patterns with 330 nm period and 100 nm modulation depth are obtained. This method enables the fabrication of 7 mm×13 mm wide grating areas with perfectly aligned grooves without the need of high-precision sample positioning. By double exposure, crossed gratings with adjustable depths in the two orthogonal directions can be generated.  相似文献

We propose a new method of increasing the diffraction efficiency of a glass substrate onto which a grating structure has been transferred by corona-charging treatment. The first-order diffraction efficiency was successfully increased by at least 100-fold by a simple low-cost process in which an aqueous solution prepared from poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and glucose was spin-coated on the glass substrate. As the solution dried, the spin-coated film formed a periodic surface relief grating with the period corresponding to that of the grating transferred to the glass substrate. The period and depth of the relief structure were 50 and 1.4 μm, respectively. The depth of the relief structure strongly depended on the concentrations of PVA and glucose in the solution. Under our experimental conditions, a high first-order diffraction efficiency was obtained when the PVA concentration was 7.5–8 wt% and the glucose concentration was 30–45 wt %.  相似文献

采用粉末喷烧法制备了掺Nd^3 高折射率TiBa玻璃微球,主要成分为TiO2,BaO和SiO2,微球直径在30μm左右。在带有显微镜的光谱仪上,用514nm激光照射微球的边缘,测量了它们的发射光谱,观察到了微球腔效应导致的光谱结构共振。在较低泵浦阈值(2mW)下,获得了Nd^3 的激射发光。利用光学微腔理论讨论了玻璃微球荧光光谱中的形貌共振,实验结果与计算结果相符。  相似文献

The fluorescence intensity of a sample placed on a metal grating pattern is enhanced due to excitation by the electric field of the grating-coupled surface plasmon resonance (GC-SPR). The dependence of the enhancement on groove depth and surface profile was studied with the aim of improving the sensitivity of fluorescence detection. The enhancement was found to depend on the groove depth, with intensity most enhanced on grating substrate of about 20 nm depth, which produced an intensity about 30 times greater than that on a flat borosilicate glass substrate. Rigorous coupled wave analysis calculation showed that the shape of the groove influenced GC-SPR, suggesting that controlling not only the depth but also the shape of the grating surface profile can be an important factor in improving the sensitivity of detection by fluorescence microscopy.  相似文献

Metal films containing silver and gold layers having different thicknesses were evaporated on glass substrates. Two-beam interference technique was applied to irradiate the surfaces by the fourth harmonic of a pulsed mode Nd:YAG laser. The atomic force microscopical study showed that surface relief grating having a period of 900 nm corresponding to the interference pattern was developed on the metallic films. The modulation amplitude of the laser-induced gratings was increasable by enhancing the number of laser pulses at constant fluence, and a groove depth commensurable with the film thicknesses was generated at the average fluence of 39.5 mJ/cm2 on bimetallic layers. The surface structure was more regular, and the modulation amplitude was larger in case of bimetallic films containing thicker gold layers. The threshold fluences of the phase transitions were determined by numerical temperature model calculations for different metal layer compositions, and a good agreement was found between the calculated and experimentally observed threshold values. The division of the metal stripes into droplets and the development of holes were explained by the melting of the entire metal layers and by the vaporization of silver at higher fluences. The angle-dependent surface plasmon resonance spectroscopy realized in Kretschmann arrangement proved that the laser-induced grating formation was accompanied by the change in the optical thickness and by the modification of the structure of the bimetallic films. Broad side wings appeared on the resonance curves caused by grating-coupling in case of appropriate rotation angle and sufficiently large modulation depth of the grating's grooves, according to our calculations. The coupling on deep gratings developed on bimetallic films containing the thinnest gold layer and on monometallic silver films resulted in separated secondary resonance minimum development. The periodic adherence of native streptavidin on the metallic gratings was detected by tapping mode AFM, and based on the shift of the secondary resonance peak.  相似文献
