To explain recent experiments on n-InSb we calculate the transverse and longitudinal electrical conductivity in strong magnetic fields. We consider a free electron-point impurity system in the generalized Born approximation, and in the self-consistentt-matrix approximation. The position, shape and amplitude of the Shubnikovde Haas oscillations and the quantum limit behaviour are in good agreement with experiment.  相似文献

A general theory of spin relaxation in metals is developed from a statistical mechanical point of view. The theory is valid for all temperature domain and the multiple-time characteristics of the relaxation process are completely determined: The relaxation times are strongly dependent on the temperature and magnetic field. At very low temperatures, behaviours of the relaxation times are quite different from the usual ones showing a saturation effect. Temperature varations of the relaxation times for I ? 1 (I the magnitude of spin) are qualitatively different from those for I = 12. Namely, in the former case, the largest relaxation time has a maximum as a function of inverse temperature.  相似文献

We give the results of a substantially exact treatment of the effect of spectral diffusion on an ultrasonic two-pulse echo in glasses below 100 mK. The results indicate that more extended observations of the echo decay would enable one to verify the predictions of the tunnelling model.  相似文献

The Pr1−xPbxMnO3 (x=0.1–0.5) perovskites have been fabricated by solid-state reaction. The X-ray diffraction patterns show that the samples are of single phase with orthorhombic structure. The field-cooled (FC) and zero-field-cooled (ZFC) thermomagnetic curves measured at low field and low temperatures exhibit the spin glass-like state. The Curie temperature of samples increased with increase in Pb content. The maximum magnetic entropy change |ΔSm|max reaches the giant values of 3.91 and 3.68 J/kg K for quite low magnetic field change of 1.35 T for the samples x=0.1 and 0.4, respectively. The resistance measurements show that there is insulator–metal phase transition on the R(T) curves for samples with x?0.3. The giant magnetoresistance effect is also observed for all samples studied.  相似文献

In this work, we report the results of magnetoresistance studies of variable range hopping down to 30 mK in isotopically engineered Ge with low compensation, and in n-CdTe crystals. Experimentally we find a decrease and disappearance of the negative magnetoresistance with decreasing temperature down to 200 mK, in weak magnetic fields. Such behaviour is in disagreement with the quantum interference theory of Nguen, Spivak and Shklovskii.  相似文献

Thes-d(f) exchange model of a ferromagnetic semiconductor is considered. With the use of the perturbation expansion in the formal parameter (2S)–1,S being the magnitude of magnetic ion spin, the magnon Green function is calculated. The spectrum and damping of spin waves in the presence of conduction electrons is investigated. It is demonstrated that the change of sign of the temperature dependent correction to the spin-wave stiffness is possible provided that the Fermi energy exceeds some critical value. This may lead to the increase of the spin-wave stiffness with temperature unlike the case of the Heisenberg ferromagnet. The estimations of this effect for doped EuO and EuS are carried out.  相似文献

We have measured the magnetoresistance ρ(H,T0) of the magnetic Kondo lattice CeAl2 at temperatures T0 in the range 0.035 – 1.3 K, well below the Néel temperature TN=3.8 K, in magnetic fields H up to 145 k0e. The ρ vs H curve exhibits a rapid decrease between H=45–65 kOe corresponding to the metamagnetic transition at H=HM. The resistivity then levels out to a value which depends only weakly on field and temperature. For HM a small positive magnetoresistance was observed with the derivative dρ/dH increasing as the temperature is lowered. The present results are compared with the ρ(H,T0) data obtained for the CePb3 magnetic Kondo lattice, where the decrease in the resistivity at HHM was considered earlier to be evidence of field induced superconductivity.  相似文献

The low-temperature specific heat, magnetic susceptibility, and thermal expansion are studied experimentally in the fcc boride HoB66 and compared to similar quantities in non-magnetic LuB66. The anomalous behaviour observed in HoB66 is explained within a glass-like picture together with magnetic subsystem ordering processes. The character of the observed anomalies suggests the existence of a spin-glass phase transition in HoB66 below a characteristic temperature of T s ?≈?0.98?K.  相似文献

详细研究了由纳米晶粒组成的块体多晶La0.7Sr0.3MnO3(LSM)的电阻率和磁电阻效应,以及它们的温度依赖性.随着温度从室温降低,电阻率(ρ)在250K附近存在一最大值,低于该温度后,样品表现为金属导电特性,随后在50K附近存在一极小值.也就是说在低于50K的温度范围内,随着温度降低ρ反而升高,表现为绝缘体性的导电特性.经研究发现,这种随温度降低ρ反而增加的现象与隧穿效应的理论模型(lnρ∝T-1/2)符合得很好.这种现象是由于传导电子在通过邻近LSM晶粒间表面/界面层时的隧道效应所导致的.这种低温下电阻率的极小值现象来源于隧穿效应和LSM晶粒本征的金属导电特性的相互竞争.还详细研究了相应的隧道磁电阻效应的温度依赖性.  相似文献

The longitudinal magnetoresistance Δ?6(H)/?0 is studied experimentally in gapless solid solutions CdxHg1?xTe (0 < x < 0.15) for temperatures 1.3–15 K and the electron concentrations n ~ 1015 cm?3. The temperature and the magnetic field dependences of the observed negative longitudinal magnetoresistance are explained by the resonant nature of electron scattering by an acceptor level. The quantitative analysis of the Δ?6(H)?0 field dependence for weak magnetic fields under strong carrier degeneracy makes it possible to evaluate parameters of the acceptor level involved.  相似文献

A new closed-form expression for the diffusion coefficient, valid in a wide range of temperatures (including the intermediate ones), is obtained in the framework of the theory of quantum diffusion. The new formula fits well the available experimental data on μ+ diffusion in Cu in the whole temperature range. We provide a possible theoretical explanation for the recently observed giant positive magnetoresistance in high mobility low density quasi-two-dimensional electron and hole systems. Our explanation is based on the strong coupling of the parallel field to the orbital motion arising from the finite layer thickness and the large Fermi wavelength of the quasi-two-dimensional system at low carrier densities.  相似文献

The magnetoresistance of 1T-TaS2 in the commensurate CDW phase was measured from 8 K down to 50 mK. Very large negative magnetoresistance was observed below 0.5 K for both transverse and longitudinal configurations of the magnetic field with respect to the current. This result is explained by Fukuyama and Yosida's theory based on the variable-range hopping in the Anderson localized states.  相似文献

We study the Ising andN-vector spin glasses with exchange couplings J=(J ij ;i, jZ d ), which are independent random variables with EJij=0 andEJ n ij n n!¦i–j¦ –nd , forn, some finite constant >0, and >1/2. For sufficiently small, we show that forE-a.a.J there is a weakly unique, extremal, infinite-volume Gibbs measure J for which the expectation of a single (component of) spin vanishes and which has the cluster property inL 2(E) with the same decay as interaction.
