We report on novel diblock copolymers of poly(N‐vinylcaprolactam) (PVCL) and poly(N‐vinyl‐2‐pyrrolidone) (PVPON) (PVCL‐b‐PVPON) with well‐defined block lengths synthesized by the MADIX/reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) process. We show that the lower critical solution temperatures (LCST) of the block copolymers are controllable over the length of PVCL and PVPON segments. All of the diblock copolymers dissolve molecularly in aqueous solutions when the temperature is below the LCST and form spherical micellar or vesicular morphologies when temperature is raised above the LCST. The size of the self‐assembled structures is controlled by the molar ratio of PVCL and PVPON segments. The synthesized homopolymers and diblock copolymers are demonstrated to be nontoxic at 0.1–1 mg mL?1 concentrations when incubated with HeLa and HEK293 cancer cells for various incubation times and have potential as nanovehicles for drug delivery. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Diblock copolymers consisting of methoxy poly(ethylene glycol) (MPEG) and poly(?‐caprolactone) (PCL), poly(δ‐valerolactone) (PVL), poly(L ‐lactic acid) (PLLA), or poly(lactic‐co‐glycolic acid) (PLGA) as biodegradable polyesters were prepared to examine the phase transition of diblock copolymer solutions. MPEG–PCL and MPEG–PVL diblock copolymers and MPEG–PLLA and MPEG–PLGA diblock copolymers were synthesized by the ring‐opening polymerization of ?‐caprolactone or δ‐valerolactone in the presence of HCl · Et2O as a monomer activator at room temperature and by the ring‐opening polymerization of L ‐lactide or a mixture of L ‐lactide and glycolide in the presence of stannous octoate at 130 °C, respectively. The synthesized diblock copolymers were characterized with 1H NMR, IR, and gel permeation chromatography. The phase transitions for diblock copolymer aqueous solutions of various concentrations were explored according to the temperature variation. The diblock copolymer solutions exhibited the phase transition from gel to sol with increasing temperature. As the polyester block length of the diblock copolymers increased, the gel‐to‐sol transition moved to a lower concentration region. The gel‐to‐sol transition showed a dependence on the length of the polyester block segment. According to X‐ray diffraction and differential scanning calorimetry thermal studies, the gel‐to‐sol transition of the diblock copolymer solutions depended on their degrees of crystallinity because water could easily diffuse into amorphous polymers in comparison with polymers with a crystalline structure. The crystallinity markedly depended on both the distinct character and composition of the block segment. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 42: 5784–5793, 2004  相似文献

Poly(vinylidene fluoride)(PVDF)‐graft‐random copolymers(PD) of diethyleneglycol methylether methacrylate(MeO2MA) and dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate(DMAEMA) are synthesized by a combined atom transfer radical coupling and atom transfer radical polymerization technique at three different co‐monomer compositions. The molar ratio of MeO2MA to DMAEMA in PD are measured to be 1:5.8, 1:1.3, and 1:0.5 for PD1, PD2, and PD3 graft copolymers. In PD2 the feed ratio and mole ratio are same indicating an azeotropic composition causing highest yield (89%) and highest molecular weight (9.29 × 105). The grafted chains of PD are temperature and pH responsive and in basic pH they show a sudden increase in size above certain temperature for LCST‐type phase transition, however, this is not observed at pH 4 and 7. PD can generate AgNPs under UV irradiation and morphology of PD at 30 °C varies with pH from vesicle to nanosphere. The AgNPs lie on the surface of the vesicles or assemble with the PD chains forming nanosphere morphology. At different pH, PD samples exhibit plasmon peaks at different wavelengths attributed to various size, shapes and cluster formation. The UV–vis spectra of AgNPs stabilized by PD1 and PD2 samples exhibits similar LCST‐type phase transition as observed above, but that of PD3 does not show any such transition. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  The phase transition of aqueous solutions of poly(N,N-diethylacrylamide-co-acrylic acid) (DEAAm–AA) is studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and UV–vis spectrophotometry. The copolymer aqueous solutions are shown to have well-defined lower critical solution temperatures (LCSTs). The LCST values obtained from the maximum of the first derivatives of the DSC and optical transition curves agree well. DSC can be used to measure the phase-transition temperature of more dilute polymer solutions. On increasing the AA composition in the copolymers, the LCST values of the copolymer increase, then decrease at higher AA composition. For the aqueous solution of the copolymers, the transition curve obtained by the spectrophotometric method is highly wavelength dependent. The LCST values are found to be concentration-dependent. The changes in the heat of the phase transition of the copolymer solutions measured from DSC are lower than that of the homopolymer PDEAAm solution. This is consistent with the suggestion that the polymer chains of the copolymers collapsed only partially at temperatures above the LCST. The added salt (sodium chloride) decreases the transition temperature of the polymer solution. Received: 14 November 2000 Accepted: 15 January 2001  相似文献

New multi‐stimuli responsive cationic copolymers based on N‐acryloyl‐N′‐ethyl piperazine (AcrNEP) and N‐isopropylacrylamide (NIPAM) were prepared by thermal free‐radical solution polymerization in dioxane at 75 °C. The chemical composition of the copolymers was determined by 1H NMR spectroscopy and was found that the copolymers were slightly rich in NIPAM content than that of AcrNEP. The reactivity of the two monomers for the copolymerization reaction was evaluated by the extended Kelen‐Tüdös method. The distribution of monomer sequence in the copolymer chain was estimated using the terminal copolymerization model. The maximum tendency to alternation (~ 70%) was at 60 mol % of AcrNEP in the monomer feed. The copolymers were readily soluble in water at room temperature at all compositions and exhibited well‐defined lower critical solution temperature (LCST) phenomenon. The influence of various stimuli such as pH, temperature, simple inorganic salts, and surfactants on the LCST of the copolymers was studied in detail. Simple inorganic salts such as sodium chloride, sodium bromide, and sodium sulfate showed a salting‐out effect while sodium iodide showed a salting‐in effect. The salting‐out coefficient of the salts were calculated using the Sestchenow method, and the salting trend followed the order SO42? > Cl? > Br? > I?. The divalent salt was more effective in lowering the LCST than the monovalent salts. The cationic surfactant hexadecyl trimethylammonium bromide at concentrations above the critical micelle concentration caused a gradual increase in the LCST of the copolymer solutions. The intrinsic viscosity and light scattering behavior of the copolymers in water and in sodium chloride solutions were studied in detail. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part B: Polym. Amphiphilic diblock and triblock copolymers of various block compositions based on hydrophilic poly(2‐ethyl‐2‐oxazoline) (PEtOz) and hydrophobic poly(ε‐caprolactone) were synthesized. The micelle formation of these block copolymers in aqueous media was confirmed by a fluorescence technique and dynamic light scattering. The critical micelle concentrations ranged from 35.5 to 4.6 mg/L for diblock copolymers and 4.7 to 9.0 mg/L for triblock copolymers, depending on the block composition. The phase‐transition behaviors of the block copolymers in concentrated aqueous solutions were investigated. When the temperature was increased, aqueous solutions of diblock and triblock copolymers exhibited gel–sol transition and precipitation, both of which were thermally reversible. The gel–sol transition‐ and precipitation temperatures were manipulated by adjustment of the block composition. As the hydrophobic portion of block copolymers became higher, a larger gel region was generated. In the presence of sodium chloride, the phase transitions were shifted to a lower temperature level. Sodium thiocyanate displaced the gel region and precipitation temperatures to a higher temperature level. The low molecular weight saccharides, such as glucose and maltose, contributed to the shift of phase‐transition temperatures to a lower temperature level, where glucose was more effective than maltose in lowering the gel–sol transition temperatures. The malonic acid that formed hydrogen bonds with the PEtOz shell of micelles was effective in lowering phase‐transition temperatures to 1.0M, above which concentration the block copolymer solutions formed complex precipitates. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Poly[N‐isopropylacrylamide‐g‐poly(ethylene glycol)]s with a reactive group at the poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) end were synthesized by the radical copolymerization of N‐isopropylacrylamide with a PEG macromonomer having an acetal group at one end and a methacryloyl group at the other chain end. The temperature dependence of the aqueous solutions of the obtained graft copolymers was estimated by light scattering measurements. The intensity of the light scattering from aqueous polymer solutions increased with increasing temperature. In particular, at temperatures above 40°C, the intensity abruptly increased, indicating a phase separation of the graft copolymer due to the lower critical solution temperature (LCST) of the poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) segment. No turbidity was observed even above the LCST, and this suggested a nanoscale self‐assembling structure of the graft copolymer. The dynamic light scattering measurements confirmed that the size of the aggregate was in the range of several tens of nanometers. The acetal group at the end of the PEG graft chain was easily converted to the aldehyde group by an acid treatment, which was analyzed by 1H NMR. Such a temperature‐induced nanosphere possessing reactive PEG tethered chains on the surface is promising for new nanobased biomedical materials. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Novel thermo‐responsive poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide)‐block‐poly(l ‐lactide)‐block‐poly(N‐isopropylacylamide) (PNIPAAm‐b‐PLLA‐b‐PNIPAAm) triblock copolymers were successfully prepared by atom transfer radical polymerization of NIPAAm with Br‐PLLA‐Br macroinitiator, using a CuCl/tris(2‐dimethylaminoethyl) amine (Me6TREN) complex as catalyst at 25 °C in a N,N‐dimethylformamide/water mixture. The molecular weight of the copolymers ranges from 18,000 to 38,000 g mol?1, and the dispersity from 1.10 to 1.28. Micelles are formed by self‐assembly of copolymers in aqueous medium at room temperature, as evidenced by 1H NMR, dynamic light scattering (DLS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The critical micelle concentration determined by fluorescence spectroscopy ranges from 0.0077 to 0.016 mg mL?1. 1H NMR analysis in selective solvents confirmed the core‐shell structure of micelles. The copolymers exhibit a lower critical solution temperature (LCST) between 32.1 and 32.8 °C. The micelles are spherical in shape with a mean diameter between 31.4 and 83.3 nm, as determined by TEM and DLS. When the temperature is raised above the LCST, micelle size increases at high copolymer concentrations due to aggregation. In contrast, at low copolymer concentrations, decrease of micelle size is observed due to collapse of PNIPAAm chains. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. The multi‐thermo‐responsive block copolymer of poly[2‐(2‐methoxyethoxy)ethyl methacrylate]‐block‐poly[N‐(4‐vinylbenzyl)‐N,N‐diethylamine] (PMEO2MA‐b‐PVEA) displaying phase transition at both the lower critical solution temperature (LCST) and the upper critical solution temperature (UCST) in the alcohol/water mixture is synthesized by reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer polymerization. The poly[2‐(2‐methoxyethoxy)ethyl methacrylate] (PMEO2MA) block exhibits the UCST phase transition in alcohol and the LCST phase transition in water, while the poly[N‐(4‐vinylbenzyl)‐N,N‐diethylamine] (PVEA) block shows the UCST phase transition in isopropanol and the LCST phase transition in the alcohol/water mixture. Both the polymer molecular weight and the co‐solvent/nonsolvent exert great influence on the LCST or UCST of the block copolymer. By adjusting the solvent character including the water content and the temperature, the block copolymer undergoes multiphase transition at LCST or UCST, and various block copolymer morphologies including inverted micelles, core‐corona micelles, and corona‐collapsed micelles are prepared. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Linear and crosslinked polymers based on N‐isopropylacrylamide (NIPAAm) exhibit unusual thermal properties. Aqueous solutions of poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm) phase‐separate upon heating above a lower critical solution temperature (LCST), whereas related hydrogels undergo a swelling–shrinking transition at an LCST. A linear copolymer made of NIPAAm/acryloxysuccinimide (98/2 mol/mol) and two hydrogels with different hydrophilicities were prepared. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy was employed to determine the transition temperature and provide insights into the molecular details of the transition via probing of characteristic bands as a function of temperature. The FTIR spectroscopy method described here allowed the determination of the transition temperature for both the linear and crosslinked polymers. The transition temperatures for PNIPAAm and the gel resulting from the crosslinking with polylysine or N,N′‐methylenebisacrylamide (MBA) were in the same range, 30–35 °C. For the gels, the transition temperature increased with the hydrophilicity of the polymer matrix. The spectral changes observed at the LCST were similar for the free chains and the hydrogels, implying a similar molecular reorganization during the transition. The C H stretching region suggests that the N‐isopropyl groups and the backbone both underwent conformational changes and became more ordered upon heating above the LCST. An analysis of the amide I band suggests that the amide groups of the linear polymer were mainly involved in hydrogen bonding with water molecules below the LCST, the chain being flexible and disordered in a water solution. During the transition, around 20% of these intermolecular hydrogen bonds between the polymer and water were broken and replaced by intramolecular hydrogen bonds. Similar changes were also observed at the LCST of a gel crosslinked with MBA. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Polym Sci B: Polym Phys 38: 907–915, 2000  相似文献

Phase diagrams of aqueous solutions of poly(N-vinyl caprolactam) (PVCL), N-vinyl caprolactam copolymer with vinylamine (3.8 mol%) (CP(VCL-VA)), and poly(N-vinyl propylacetamide) (PVPA) were shown to be binodal curves with lower critical solution temperatures (LCST) in the range 304–313.5 K and critical concentrations in the range of 0.02–0.08 polymer weight fraction. Aqueous solutions of N-vinyl caprolactam copolymer with N-vinyl pyrrolidone (80 mol%) (CP(VCL-VP)) remained homogeneous in the entire region of the liquid state of water. The enthalpy of mixing with water of PVPA and CP(VCL-VP) was negative and the curve was concave over the entire range of composition at 298 and 308 K. The excessive heat capacity and partial heat capacity at infinite dilution of PVPA were positive, proving the hydrophobic character of hydration of this polymer. In contrast, these parameters were negative for CP(VCL-VP), revealing hydrophilic hydration. Hydrophilic hydration was predominant in solutions which were homogeneous over a wide temperature range, whereas hydrophobic hydration predominated in solution of polymers with LCST.  相似文献

The first‐ and second‐generation well‐defined thermoresponsive amphiphilic linear–dendritic diblock copolymers based on hydrophilic linear poly(N‐vinylcaprolactam) and hydrophobic dendritic aromatic polyamide have been synthesized via reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer polymerization of N‐vinylcaprolactam by employing dendritic chain‐transfer agents possessing a single dithiocarbamate moiety at the focal point. These linear–dendritic copolymers exhibit reversible temperature‐dependent phase transition behaviors in aqueous solution as characterized by turbidity measurements using UV–vis spectroscopy. Their lower critical solution temperatures depend on the generation of the dendritic aromatic polyamides and the concentrations of the copolymer solutions. These amphiphilic copolymers are able to form nanospherical micelles in the aqueous solution as revealed by fluorescent spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering, and transmission electron microscope (TEM). The core–shell structure of micelles has been proved by 1H NMR analyses of the micelles in D2O. The micelles loaded with indomethacin as a model drug showed high‐drug loading capacity and thermoresponsive drug release behavior. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Two chiral amphiphilic diblock copolymers with different relative lengths of the hydrophobic and hydrophilic blocks, poly(6‐O‐p‐vinylbenzyl‐1,2:3,4‐Di‐O‐isopropylidene‐D ‐galactopyranose)‐b‐poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) or poly(VBCPG)‐b‐poly(NIPAAM) and poly(20‐(hydroxymethyl)‐pregna‐1,4‐dien‐3‐one methacrylate)‐b‐poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) or poly(MAC‐HPD)‐b‐poly(NIPAAM) were synthesized via consecutive reversible addition‐fragmentation chain‐transfer polymerizations of VBCPG or MAC‐HPD and NIPAAM. The chemical structures of these diblock copolymers were characterized by 1H nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. These amphiphilic diblock copolymers could self‐assemble into micelles in aqueous solution, and the morphologies of micelles were investigated by transmission electron microscopy. By comparison with the lower critical solution temperatures (LCST) of poly(NIPAAM) homopolymer in deionized water (32 °C), a higher LCST of the chiral amphiphilic diblock copolymer (poly(VBCPG)‐b‐poly(NIPAAM)) was observed and the LCST increased with the relative length of the poly(VBCPG) block in the copolymer from 35 to 47 °C, respectively. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The phase behavior of poly(N‐tertbutylacrylamide‐co‐acrylamide) (PNTBAM) in pure water and mixture of water–methanol is studied at different temperatures. The different compositions of PNTBAM are prepared by free‐radical polymerization technique and their phase behavior is studied by turbidimetry. The effects of copolymer and solvent composition on the phase behavior of the copolymers are discussed. It has been suggested that the inhomogenities in polymer chains are responsible for lowering the rate of phase transition by increasing the N‐tertbutylacrylamide (NTBAM) and methanol contents in copolymer and mixture, respectively. For the first time we have revealed that there are second‐order binary interactions in the water–methanol which are dominant in the special range of copolymer composition. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Thermosensitive polylactide‐block‐poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (t‐PLA‐b‐PNIPAAm) tri‐armed star block copolymers were synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of monomer NIPAAm using t‐PLA‐Cl as macroinitiator. The synthesis of t‐PLA‐Cl was accomplished by esterification of star polylactides (t‐PLA) with 2‐chloropropionyl chloride using trimethylolpropane as a center molecule. FT‐IR, 1H NMR, and GPC analyses confirmed that the t‐PLA‐b‐PNIPAAm star block copolymers had well‐defined structure and controlled molecular weights. The block copolymers could form core‐shell micelle nanoparticles due to their hydrophilic‐hydrophobic trait in aqueous media, and the critical micelle concentrations (CMC) were from 6.7 to 32.9 mg L?1, depending on the system composition. The as‐prepared micelle nanoparticles showed reversible phase changes in transmittance with temperature: transparent below low critical solution temperature (LCST) and opaque above the LCST. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) observations revealed that the micelle nanoparticles were spherical in shape with core‐shell structure. The hydrodynamic diameters of the micelle nanoparticles depended on copolymer compositions, micelle concentrations and media. MTT assays were conducted to evaluate cytotoxicity of the camptothecin‐loaded copolymer micelles. Camptothecin drug release studies showed that the copolymer micelles exhibited thermo‐triggered targeting drug release behavior, and thus had potential application values in drug controlled delivery. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of amphiphilic thermoresponsive copolymers was synthesized by group transfer polymerization. Seven copolymers were prepared based on the nonionic hydrophobic n‐butyl methacrylate (BuMA), the ionizable hydrophilic and thermoresponsive 2‐(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate (DMAEMA) and the nonionic hydrophilic poly(ethylene glycol)methyl methacrylate (PEGMA). In particular, one diblock copolymer and six tricomponent copolymers of different architectures and compositions, one random and five triblock copolymers, were synthesized. The polymers and their precursors were characterized in terms of their molecular weight and composition using gel permeation chromatography and proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, respectively. Aqueous solutions of the polymers were studied by turbidimetry, hydrogen ion titration, and light scattering to determine their cloud points, pKas, and hydrodynamic diameters and investigate the effect of the polymers' composition and architecture. The thermoresponsive behavior of the copolymers was also studied. By increasing the temperature, all polymer solutions became more viscous, but only one polymer, the one with the highest content of the hydrophobic BuMA, formed a stable physical gel. Interestingly, the thermoresponsive behavior of these triblock copolymers was affected not only by the terpolymers' composition but also by the terpolymers' architecture. These findings can facilitate the design and engineering of injectable copolymers for tissue engineering that could enable the in situ formation of physical gels at body temperature. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The synthesis of thermo‐ and ionic‐responsive copolymers based on polyethylene glycol methyl ether methacrylate (OEGMA) and 2,2,2‐trifluoroethyl acrylate (TFEA) via reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer polymerization is described. Reactivity ratios for the copolymerization of OEGMA and TFEA are rOEGMA = 2.46 and rTFEA = 0.22, indicating that OEGMA is incorporated more rapidly than TFEA monomers. The copolymers are thermosensitive and exhibit volume phase transitions (lower critical solution behavior) at temperature, which depend on copolymer composition and the presence of added salts in the aqueous solutions. It was found that the copolymers exhibited LCST transitions at temperatures below 353 K only in salt solutions. 1H NMR measurements indicated that motion of the protons located in and near the hydrophobic main chain are more sensitive to temperature than protons in the hydrophilic OEGMA side chains. The hydrophilic side chains remain largely hydrated; however, the presence of two distinct conformations of the terminal groups of the side chains was confirmed. The influence of OEGMA side chain length, copolymer composition, and salt type on aggregation behavior and dynamics was examined in detail. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. This article discusses an effective route to prepare amphiphilic diblock copolymers containing a poly(ethylene oxide) block and a polyolefin block that includes semicrystalline thermoplastics, such as polyethylene and syndiotactic polystyrene (s‐PS), and elastomers, such as poly(ethylene‐co‐1‐octene) and poly(ethylene‐co‐styrene) random copolymers. The broad choice of polyolefin blocks provides the amphiphilic copolymers with a wide range of thermal properties from high melting temperature ~270 °C to low glass‐transition temperature ~?60 °C. The chemistry involves two reaction steps, including the preparation of a borane group‐terminated polyolefin by the combination of a metallocene catalyst and a borane chain‐transfer agent as well as the interconversion of a borane terminal group to an anionic (? O?K+) terminal group for the subsequent ring‐opening polymerization of ethylene oxide. The overall reaction process resembles a transformation from the metallocene polymerization of α‐olefins to the ring‐opening polymerization of ethylene oxide. The well‐defined reaction mechanisms in both steps provide the diblock copolymer with controlled molecular structure in terms of composition, molecular weight, moderate molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn < 2.5), and absence of homopolymer. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of poly(2‐(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate‐ran‐9‐(4‐vinylbenzyl)‐9H‐carbazole) (poly(DMAEMA‐ran‐VBK)) random copolymers, with VBK molar feed compositions fVBK,0 = 0.02–0.09, were synthesized using 10 mol % [tert‐butyl[1‐(diethoxyphosphoryl)‐2,2‐dimethylpropyl]amino] nitroxide (SG1) relative to 2‐([tert‐butyl[1‐(diethoxyphosphoryl)‐2,2‐dimethylpropyl]amino]oxy)‐2‐methylpropionic acid (BlocBuilder) at 80 °C and 90 °C. Controlled polymerizations were observed, even with fVBK,0 = 0.02, as reflected by a linear increase in number average molecular weight (Mn) versus conversion X ≤ 0.6 with final copolymers characterized by relatively narrow, monomodal molecular weight distributions (Mw/Mn ≈ 1.5). Poly(DMAEMA‐ran‐VBK) copolymers were deemed sufficiently pseudo‐“living” to reinitiate a second batch of N,N‐dimethylacrylamide (DMAA), with very few apparent dead chains, as indicated by the monomodal shift in the gel permeation chromatography chromatograms. Poly(DMAEMA‐ran‐VBK) random copolymers exhibited tuneable lower critical solution temperature (LCST), in aqueous solution, by modifying copolymer composition, solution pH and by the addition of the water‐soluble poly(DMAA) segment. 1H NMR analysis determined that, in water, the VBK units of the poly(DMAEMA‐ran‐VBK) random copolymer were segregated to the interior of the copolymer aggregate regardless of solution temperature and that poly(DMAEMA‐ran‐VBK)‐b‐poly(DMAA) block copolymers formed micelles above the LCST. In addition, the final random copolymer and block copolymer exhibited temperature dependent fluorescence due to the VBK units. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Coil‐globule transition of poly(N‐tert‐butylacrylamide‐co‐acrylamide) P(NTBAM‐co‐AM) copolymers is investigated in the aqueous solution and in the mixture of water–methanol by micro ATR‐FTIR spectroscopy technique. In this study the microstructure and its changes in the hydration states of the distinct groups of these copolymers are investigated by micro ATR/FTIR technique. The results showed that by heating the solution above the LCST hydrogen bonding between C?O and water was decreased but the hydrogen bonding between polymeric chains increased, which prove the aggregation of polymer chain during phase separation. The chemical shifts of IR bands are also studied in the mixture of water–methanol. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part B: Polym Phys 48: 356–363, 2010  相似文献
