We investigated the adsorption, surface enrichment, ion exchange, and on-surface metathesis of ultrathin mixed IL films on Ag(111). We stepwise deposited 0.5 ML of the protic IL diethylmethylammonium trifluoromethanesulfonate ([dema][TfO]) and 1.0 ML of the aprotic IL 1-methyl-3-octylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate ([C8C1Im][PF6]) at around 90 K. Thereafter, the resulting layered frozen film was heated to 550 K, and the thermally induced phenomena were monitored in situ by angle-resolved X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Between 135 and 200 K, [TfO] anions at the Ag(111) surface are exchanged by [PF6] anions and enriched together with [C8C1Im]+ cations at the IL/vacuum interface. Upon further heating, [dema][PF6] and [OMIm][PF6] desorb selectively at ∼235 and ∼380 K, respectively. Hereby, a wetting layer of pure [C8C1Im][TfO] is formed by on-surface metathesis at the IL/metal interface, which completely desorbs at ∼480 K. For comparison, ion enrichment at the vacuum/IL interface was also studied in macroscopic IL mixtures, where no influence of the solid support is expected.  相似文献

The growth of gold nanoparticles (NPs) synthesized by sputter deposition on an ionic liquid surface is studied in situ in the bulk phase of the ionic liquids (ILs) 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium dicyanamide [C(1)C(4)Im][N(CN)(2)], 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)amide [C(1)C(4)Im][Tf(2)N], 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate [C(1)C(4)Im][BF(4)], 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate [C(1)C(4)Im][PF(6)] and 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium triflate [C(1)C(4)Im][TfO]. It is found that primary nanoparticles with a diameter smaller than 2.5 nm are present in the sample immediately after sputtering. Growth of these primary particles proceeds after the end of the sputtering process and stops when the nanoparticles reach a certain size. Depending on the viscosity of the ionic liquid this growth process can proceed several hours to several days. The growth speed is fastest for the least viscous ionic liquid and follows the trend [C(1)C(4)Im][N(CN)(2)] > [C(1)C(4)Im][Tf(2)N] > [C(1)C(4)Im][TfO] > [C(1)C(4)Im][BF(4)] > [C(1)C(4)Im][PF(6)]. It is also found that a higher concentration of sputtered gold results in faster growth of the gold nanoparticles. A discussion on the growth mechanism of sputtered gold NPs is included.  相似文献

The activity and stability of laccase and their kinetic mechanisms in water soluble ionic liquids (ILs): 1-butyl-3-methyl imidazolium chloride [C4mim][Cl], 1-octyl-3-methyl imidazolium chloride [C8mim][Cl], and 1-decyl-3-methyl imidazolium chloride [C10mim][Cl] were investigated. The results show that an IL concentration up to 10% is satisfactory for initial laccase activity at pH 9.0. The laccase stability was well maintained in [C4mim][Cl] IL when compared to the control. The inactivation of laccase increases with the length of the alkyl chain in the IL: [C10mim][Cl] > [C8mim][Cl] > [C4mim][Cl]. The kinetic studies in the presence of ABTS as substrate allowed calculating the Michaelis–Menten parameters. Among the ILs, [C4mim][Cl] was the suitable choice attending to laccase activity and stability. Alkyl chains in the ions of ILs have a deactivating effect on laccase, which increases strongly with the length of the alkyl chain.  相似文献

We studied the formation and surface behavior of Pt(II) and Pd(II) complexes with ligand systems derived from two nitrile-functionalized ionic liquids (ILs) in solution using angle-resolved X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (ARXPS). These ligand systems enabled a high solubility of the metal complexes in IL solution. The complexes were prepared by simple ligand substitution under vacuum conditions in defined excess of the coordinating ILs, [C3CNC1Im][Tf2N] and [C1CNC1Pip][Tf2N], to immediately yield solutions of the final products. The ILs differ in the cationic head group and the chain length of the functionalized substituent. Our XPS measurements on the neat ILs gave insights in the electronic properties of the coordinating substituents revealing differences in donation capability and stability of the complexes. Investigations on the composition of the outermost surface layers using ARXPS revealed no surface affinity of the nitrile-functionalized chains in the neat ILs. Solutions of the formed complexes in the nitrile ILs showed homogeneous distribution of the solute at the surface with the heterocyclic moieties preferentially orientated towards the vacuum, while the metal centers are rather located further away from the IL/vacuum interface.  相似文献

Song and Mason equation of state (EOS) with a simple modification has been extended to modelling PVT properties of ionic liquids (ILs). The considered ILs are [C1mim][MeSO4], [C1mim][CH3OC2H5SO4], [C1mim][(CH3)2PO4], [C2mim][MeSO4], [C2mim][BF4], [C2mim][SCN], [C2eim][NTf2], [C4mim][C(CN)3], [C4mim][CF3SO3], [C4mim][SCN], [C5mim][NTf2], [C8mim][NTf2], [(C6H13)3P(C14H29)][Cl], [(C6H13)3P(C14H29)][NTf2], [(C6H13)3P(C14H29)][Ac], [C3mpyr][NTf2], [C4mpyr][NTf2] and [Py][C2H5OC2H4SO4]. Three temperature-dependent parameters in the proposed EOS have been scaled as functions of reduced temperature with the use of the law of corresponding states. It is shown that the knowledge of just critical temperature and critical density is sufficient to predict the PVT properties of these ILs. The overall average absolute deviation of calculated densities from literature values for 1347 data points of 18 ILs was found to be 0.58%. The predicted density of ILs from proposed EOS has been compared with those obtained by other literature work. Moreover, we indicate that the Zeno line regularity can well be predicted by proposed model for ILs.  相似文献

Using angle-resolved X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (ARXPS), we investigate the topmost nanometers of various binary ionic liquid (IL) mixtures at different temperatures in the liquid state. The mixtures consist of ILs with the same [PF6] anion but two different cations, namely 3-methyl-1-(3,3,4,4,4-pentafluorobutyl)imidazolium hexafluorophosphate, [PFBMIm][PF6], and 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate, [C4C1Im][PF6], with 10, 25, 50 and 75 mol % content of [PFBMIm][PF6]. We observe a preferential enrichment of the fluorinated chain in the topmost layer, relative to the bulk composition, which is most pronounced for the lowest content of [PFBMIm][PF6]. Upon cooling the mixtures stepwise from 95 °C until surface charging effects in XPS indicate solidification, we observe a pronounced increase in surface enrichment of the fluorinated chain with decreasing temperature in the liquid state. In contrast to the mixtures with lower [PFBMIm][PF6] contents, cooling the 75 mol % mixture additionally shows an abrupt decrease of the fluorinated chain signal before complete solidification occurs, which is assigned to partial precipitation effects.  相似文献

The density, viscosity and conductivity of ionic liquids (ILs), 1-octyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([omim][BF4]), 1-octyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride ([omim][Cl]), 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([hmim] BF4]), 1-hexyl- 3-methylimidazolium chloride ([hmim][Cl]), 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate ([hmim][PF6]), and the [omim][BF4] + [omim][Cl], [hmim][BF4] + [hmim][Cl], and [hmim][PF6] + [hmim][Cl] binary mixtures were studied at dif- ferent temperatures. It was demonstrated that the densities of both the neat ILs and their mixtures varied linearly with temper- ature. The density sensitivity of a binary mixture is between those of the two components. The excess molar volumes (VE) of [hmim][BF4] + [hmim][Cl] and [hmim][PF6] + [hmim][Cl] mixtures are positive in the whole composition range. For [omim][BF4] + [omim][Cl], the VE is also positive in the [omim][Cl]-rich region, but is negative in the [omim][BF4]-rich re- gion. The viscosity or conductivity of a mixture is in the intermediate of those of the two neat ILs. For all the neat ILs and the binary mixtures studied, the order of conductivity is opposite to that of the viscosity. The Vogel-Tammann-Fulcher (VTF) equations can be used to fit the viscosity and conductivity of all the neat ILs and the binary mixtures. The neat ILs and their mixtures obey the Fractional Walden Rule very well, and the values of the Walden slopes are all smaller than unit, indicating obvious ion associations in the neat ILs and the binary mixtures.  相似文献

The high-pressure dependence of density given by empirical equation of states (EoS) for the ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium trifluoromethanesulfonate (or triflate), [C4C1im][TfO], is compared with results obtained by molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. Two EoS proposed for [C4C1im][TfO] in the pressure range of tens of MPa, which give very different densities when extrapolated to pressures beyond the original experiments, are compared with a group contribution model (GCM). The MD simulations provide support that one of the empirical EoS and the GCM is valid in the pressure range of hundreds of MPa. As an alternative to these EoS that are based on modified Tait equations, it is shown that a perturbed hard-sphere EoS based on the Carnahan–Starling–van der Waals equation also fits the densities calculated by MD simulations of [C4C1im][TfO] up to ∼1.0 GPa.  相似文献

Micellization behavior of the twin-tailed surfactants can be modulated by the addition of various modifiers. Ionic liquids (ILs) are one of them and are documented here. The beauty of these environmentally benign neoteric molecules lies in their structural versatility. Here, we have investigated the effect of three ILs: 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide ([C4mim][Br]), 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide ([C6mim][Br]), and 1-octyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide ([C8mim][Br]) on the aggregation and surface adsorption behavior of cationic gemini surfactant, bis(hexadecyldimethyl ammonium)propane dibromide (16-3-16) through experimentally measured electrical conductivities, surface tensions, and by spectral methods (UV-vis absorbance and fluorescence measurements). The main focus of the study is to observe the effect of added ILs on the critical micelle concentration (cmc), various surface parameters, aggregation number, and size of the aggregates of gemini surfactant. The results show that the more hydrophobic ILs, that is, [C6mim][Br] and [C8mim][Br] behave as electrolyte at lower concentration and cosurfactant at higher concentration, whereas moderately hydrophobic IL [C4mim][Br] acts as an electrolyte at all concentration ranges studied. The modulating effects of ILs were also compared with conventional electrolyte (NaBr) at similar conditions.  相似文献

The behavior of two ionic liquids (ILs), 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium dicyanamide [Emim][DCA] and 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium triflate [Emim][TfO], in (meso)porous carbonaceous hosts was investigated. Prior to IL incorporation into the host, the carbon matrix was thermally annealed between 180 and 900 °C to control carbon condensation and surface chemistry. The resulting materials have an increasing "graphitic" carbon character with increasing treatment temperature, reflected in a modified behavior of the ILs when impregnated into the carbon host. The two ILs show significant changes in the thermal behavior as measured from differential scanning calorimetry; these changes can be assigned to anion-π interaction between the IL anions and the pore wall surfaces of these flexible carbonaceous support materials.  相似文献

The impact of a reactant from the gas phase on the surface of a liquid and its transfer through this gas/liquid interface are crucial for various concepts applying ionic liquids (ILs) in catalysis. We investigated the first step of the adsorption dynamics of n‐butane on a series of 1‐alkyl‐3‐methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide ILs ([CnC1Im][Tf2N]; n=1, 2, 3, 8). Using a supersonic molecular beam in ultra‐high vacuum, the trapping of n‐butane on the frozen ILs was determined as a function of surface temperature, between 90 and 125 K. On the C8‐ and C3‐ILs, n‐butane adsorbs at 90 K with an initial trapping probability of ≈0.89. The adsorption energy increases with increasing length of the IL alkyl chain, whereas the ionic headgroups seem to interact only weakly with n‐butane. The absence of adsorption on the C1‐ and C2‐ILs is attributed to a too short residence time on the IL surface to form nuclei for condensation even at 90 K.  相似文献

Synthesis and Characterization of six novel N,N-dioctylsuccinamate based room temperature ionic liquids (RTILs) bearing imidazolium, pyridinium, ester imidazolium, and quaternary ammonium cations is reported. Extraction of Pb(II) and Co(II) by these RTILs has been investigated. Ionic liquids (ILs) synthesized were [C4mim][N88SA], [C8mim][N88SA], [C4Py][N88SA], [C8Py][N88SA], [α-mim-ester][N88SA] and [N2244][N88SA] termed as L1, L2, L3, L4, L5 and L6 respectively. Liquid-liquid extraction was performed and all the six systems showed excellent extractability results for both Pb(II) and Co(II). During the process of extraction several factors i.e., nature of cation, pH of the aqueous phase, equilibration time, and initial metal ion concentration were investigated. The extraction efficiency of above 98 % for all types of extractants was observed. The nature of cation its concentration, equilibration time, and pH of the aqueous phase significantly influenced the extraction efficiency. Maximum extraction was observed at pH values between 4 and 8 and optimum contact time was observed to be 40–45 min. Increasing the metal ion concentration decreased the extraction efficiency. The extraction efficiency of both metal ions decreased in the order [N88SA][C8mim] (L2) > [α-mim-Ester][N88SA] (L5) > [N88SA][C4mim] (L1). This is evident from the order of extraction behaviour that increasing the bulkiness of cation, results in stronger complexation, hence increasing extraction.  相似文献

The interaction of molecules, especially hydrocarbons, at the gas/ionic liquid (IL) surface plays a crucial role in supported IL catalysis. The dynamics of this process is investigated by measuring the trapping probabilities of n-butane, iso-butane and 1-butene on a set of frozen 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium-based ILs [CnC1Im]X, where n=4, 8 and X=Cl, Br, [PF6] and [Tf2N]. The decrease of the initial trapping probability with increasing surface temperature is used to determine the desorption energy of the hydrocarbons at the IL surfaces. It increases with increasing alkyl chain length n and decreasing anion size for the ILs studied. We attribute these effects to different degrees of alkyl chain surface enrichment, while interactions between the adsorbate and the anion do not play a significant role. The adsorption energy also depends on the adsorbing molecule: It decreases in the order n-butane>1-butene>iso-butane, which can be explained by different dispersion interactions.  相似文献

Ultrathin films of two imidazolium-based ionic liquids (IL), [C(1)C(1)Im][Tf(2)N] (= 1,3-dimethylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethyl)imide) and [C(8)C(1)Im][Tf(2)N] (= 1-methyl-3-octylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethyl)imide) were prepared on a Au(111) single-crystal surface by physical vapor deposition in ultrahigh vacuum. The adsorption behavior, orientation, and growth were monitored via angle-resolved X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (ARXPS). Coverage-dependent chemical shifts of the IL-derived core levels indicate that for both ILs the first layer is formed from anions and cations directly in contact with the Au surface in a checkerboard arrangement and that for [C(8)C(1)Im][Tf(2)N] a reorientation of the alkyl chain with increasing coverage is found. For both ILs, geometry models of the first adsorption layer are proposed. For higher coverages, both ILs grow in a layer-by-layer fashion up to thicknesses of at least 9 nm (>10 ML). Moreover, beam damage effects are discussed, which are mainly related to the decomposition of [Tf(2)N](-) anions directly adsorbed at the gold surface.  相似文献

Pretreatment of lignocellulosic biomass with ionic liquids (ILs) has been extensively studied, being regarded as one of the most promising methods for obtaining fermentable sugars. In this research, it was investigated the production of ethanol from sugars released from sugarcane bagasse pretreated with the ionic liquids [C4mim][OAc] and [C2mim][OAc], hydrolysed with Penicillium echinulatum enzymes and using Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Schizosaccharomyces pombe. Yields of about 43 and 56% of ethanol were observed for S. cerevisiae and biomass pretreated with [C2mim][OAc] and [C4mim][OAc], respectively. S. pombe yielded 52 and 78% ethanol for [C2mim][OAc] and [C4mim][OAc], respectively. These results indicate that S. pombe showed best performance for alcoholic fermentation from sugars released from pretreated biomass by ILs.  相似文献

In this study, a homogeneous thin film growth of pentacene onto indium tin oxide (ITO) coated glass surfaces is explored using a high-resolution and reproducible vapor deposition methodology. Moreover, vacuum thermal evaporation of ionic liquids (ILs) ([C2C1im][NTf2] and [C2C1im][OTF]) onto ITO, gold/palladium (AuPd) and pentacene surfaces were performed. A greater wettability behavior of ILs is observed for surfaces containing AuPd. Sequential and simultaneous depositions of ILs and pentacene were explored. Simultaneous depositions lead to the formation of nanocomposites films, consisting of IL micro- and nanodroplets covered by pentacene layers. Plasma surface treatment was used to induce the ILs droplets coalescence and explore the dynamics and phase separation of the nanocomposites. The [C2C1im][OTF] droplets were found to be completely covered with pentacene, which suggests a great affinity between cation-anion pairs and the aromatic moiety. Pentacene films and their nanocomposites with ILs exhibit a typical optical band gap of Egap=1.77 eV, indicating that the nanocomposite phase domains are large enough to behavior as the bulk.  相似文献

Density, speed of sound and refractive index of the imidazolium-based ionic liquids (ILs), 1-methyl-3-octylimidazolium chloride [C8mim][Cl], 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium methyl sulfate [C4mim][C1OSO3], and 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium octyl sulfate [C4mim][C8OSO3], have been measured in the temperature range from 283.15 to 343.15 K. Experimental density and speed of sound have been used to calculate the internal pressure p i of the ILs. The p i values were found to be higher than those of water and molecular organic liquids, but lower than those of classical molten salts. We also calculated molar refraction R M from the measured refractive index n D in the temperature range from 288.15 to 343.15 K. Refractive indices of ILs were also higher than those of normal organic liquids, but comparable to long-chain hydrocarbon organic solvents. The structure-property correlation of the ILs has been discussed and the results have been compared to our earlier studies (Kumar in J. Solution Chem. 37:203–214, 2008).  相似文献

Aqueous biphasic systems (ABS) composed of the choline alkanoate ionic liquids (ILs) choline acetate [Cho][OAc], choline propanoate [Cho][Pro], choline butyrate [Cho][But], and choline hexanoate [Cho][Hex], mixed with K3PO4 solutions at pH 7.2 and 14.5, were prepared and their phase diagrams were compared. The ability to form ABS with alkaline K3PO4 solutions decreased in the order [Cho][OAc] ≈ [Cho][Pro] > [Cho][But] > [Cho][Hex], while with neutral K3PO4 solutions, [Cho][OAc] could not form an ABS, and the other three ILs performed similarly. All of the biphasic regions of the ABS decreased with the increase in pH. 1H-NMR data indicated anion exchange between phases in ABS at neutral pH. The ABS at neutral pH were evaluated to extract the triazine herbicides simazine, cyanazine, and atrazine, and the ABS formed by [Cho][Pro] and the pH 7.2 K3PO4 solution has shown extraction recoveries higher than 90%.  相似文献

In this paper, imidazolium-based ionic liquids [C4mim][PF6], [C6mim][PF6], [C8mim][PF6], [C6mim][BF4] and [C8mim][BF4] were tested as extracting solvents for removal of 3-indole butyric acid (IBA) from aqueous media with subsequent determination using HPLC. Percent extraction of IBA was strongly affected by pH of aqueous phases and the chemical structures of ionic liquids (ILs). Extraction of IBA was quantitative in the pH values lower than pKa of IBA. Considering both extraction and stripping efficiencies of IBA, [C4mim][PF6] was found to act more efficient than other studied ILs. Capacity of [C4mim][PF6] was 17.6 × 10−4 mmol IBA per 1.0 mL of IL. Ionic strength of aqueous phase and temperature had shown no serious effects on extraction efficiency of IBA. A preconcentration factor of 100 and a relative standard deviation of 1.16% were obtained. It was found that ionic liquid phase was reusable almost five times for extraction/stripping purposes. 3-Indole acetic acid showed interferential effect in the extraction step. In order to assess the applicability of the method, extraction and stripping of IBA from pea plants and some other samples were studied.  相似文献

Ten [C8C1Im]+ (1‐methyl‐3‐octylimidazolium)‐based ionic liquids with anions Cl?, Br?, I?, [NO3]?, [BF4]?, [TfO]?, [PF6]?, [Tf2N]?, [Pf2N]?, and [FAP]? (TfO=trifluoromethylsulfonate, Tf2N=bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide, Pf2N=bis(pentafluoroethylsulfonyl)imide, FAP=tris(pentafluoroethyl)trifluorophosphate) and two [C8C1C1Im]+ (1,2‐dimethyl‐3‐octylimidazolium)‐based ionic liquids with anions Br? and [Tf2N]? were investigated by using X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), NMR spectroscopy and theoretical calculations. While 1H NMR spectroscopy is found to probe very specifically the strongest hydrogen‐bond interaction between the hydrogen attached to the C2 position and the anion, a comparative XPS study provides first direct experimental evidence for cation–anion charge‐transfer phenomena in ionic liquids as a function of the ionic liquid’s anion. These charge‐transfer effects are found to be surprisingly similar for [C8C1Im]+ and [C8C1C1Im]+ salts of the same anion, which in combination with theoretical calculations leads to the conclusion that hydrogen bonding and charge transfer occur independently from each other, but are both more pronounced for small and more strongly coordinating anions, and are greatly reduced in the case of large and weakly coordinating anions.  相似文献
