This paper is motivated by an open problem of Anderson, Vamanamurthy, and Vuorinen. We prove a chain of inequalities for hypergeometric functions, generalized and normalized Bessel functions, Kummer functions and for some general power series. Some particular cases and refinements are given.  相似文献

In this paper, we extend some known elementary trigonometric inequalities, and their hyperbolic analogues to Bessel and modified Bessel functions of the first kind. In order to prove our main results, we present some monotonicity and convexity properties of some functions involving Bessel and modified Bessel functions of the first kind. We also deduce some Turán and Lazarević-type inequalities for the confluent hypergeometric functions.  相似文献

We describe a method of obtaining weighted norm inequalities for generalized hypergeometric functions. This method is based upon our recent convolution theorem and some classical hypergeometric identities. In particular, it is shown that some product identities involving the divergent hypergeometric series lead to the convergent hypergeometric inequalities. A number of the new weighted norm inequalities for the Gaussian hypergeometric function, confluent hypergeometric function, and other generalized hypergeometric functions are presented.  相似文献

In this paper we focus on the Wright hypergeometric matrix functions and incomplete Wright Gauss hypergeometric matrix functions by using Pochhammer matrix symbol. We first introduce the Wright hypergeometric functions of a matrix argument and examine the convergence of these matrix functions in the unit circle, then we discuss the integral representations and differential formulas of the Wright hypergeometric matrix functions. We have also carried out a similar study process for incomplete Wright Gauss hypergeometric matrix functions. Finally, we obtain some results on the transform and fractional calculus of these Wright hypergeometric matrix functions.  相似文献

We find two-sided bounds and prove non-negativeness of Taylor coefficients for the Turán determinants of power series with coefficients involving the ratio of gamma-functions. We consider these series as functions of simultaneous shifts of the arguments of the gamma-functions located in the numerator and the denominator. The results are then applied to derive new inequalities for the Gauss hypergeometric function, the incomplete normalized beta-function and the generalized hypergeometric series. This communication continues the research of various authors who investigated logarithmic convexity and concavity of hypergeometric functions in parameters.  相似文献

In a recent paper, Byrnes et al. (2014) have developed some recurrence relations for the hypergeometric zeta functions. Moreover, the authors made two conjectures for arithmetical properties of the denominators of the reduced fraction of the hypergeometric Bernoulli numbers. In this paper, we prove these conjectures using some recurrence relations. Furthermore, we assert that the above properties hold for both Carlitz and Howard numbers.  相似文献

We consider hypergeometric functions satisfying homogeneous linear differential equations of arbitrary order. We prove general theorems on the algebraic independence of the solutions of a set of hypergeometric equations as well as of the values of these solutions at algebraic points. The conditions of most theorems are necessary and sufficient.  相似文献

We present a weighted norm inequality involving convolutions of arbitrary analytic functions and certain confluent hypergeometric functions. This result implies a family of weighted norm inequalities both for entire functions of exponential type and for (generalized) hypergeometric series. The approach is based on author's general inequality for continuous functions and some hypergeometric transformations.  相似文献

In this paper, we prove some generalisations of several theorems given in [K.A. Driver, S.J. Johnston, An integral representation of some hypergeometric functions, Electron. Trans. Numer. Anal. 25 (2006) 115-120] and examine some special cases which correspond to a transformation given by Chaundy in [T.W. Chaundy, An extension of hypergeometric functions, I., Quart. J. Maths. Oxford Ser. 14 (1943) 55-78] and other transformations involving the Riemann zeta function and the beta function.  相似文献

In this paper authors prove a general theorem on generating relations for a certain sequence of functions. Many formulas involving the families of generating functions for generalized hypergeometric polynomials are shown here to be special cases of a general class of generating functions involving generalized hypergeometric polynomials and multiple hypergeometric series of several variables. It is then shown how the main result can be applied to derive a large number of generating functions involving hypergeometric functions of Kampé de Fériet, Srivastava, Srivastava-Daoust, Chaundy, Fasenmyer, Cohen, Pasternack, Khandekar, Rainville and other multiple Gaussian hypergeometric polynomials scattered in the literature of special functions.  相似文献

Generators of some Ramanujan formulas   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
In this paper we prove some Ramanujan type formulas for 1/π but without using the theory of modular forms. Instead we use the WZ—method created by H. Wilf and D. Zeilberger and find some hypergeometric functions in two variables which are second components of WZ—pairs than can be certified using Zeilberger's EKHAD package. These certificates have an additional property which allows us to get generalized Ramanujan's type series which are routinely proven by computer. We call these second hypergeometric components of the WZ—pairs generators. Finding generators seems a hard task but using a kind of experimental research (explained below), we have succeeded in finding some of them. Unfortunately we have not found yet generators for the most impressive Ramanujan's formulas. We also prove some interesting binomial sums for the constant 1/π2. Finally we rewrite many of the obtained series using pochhammer symbols and study the rate of convergence. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification Primary—33C20  相似文献

We prove, by the WZ-method, some hypergeometric identities which relate ten extended Ramanujan type series to simpler hypergeometric series. The identities we are going to prove are valid for all the values of a parameter a when they are convergent. Sometimes, even if they do not converge, they are valid if we consider these identities as limits.   相似文献

We start from an interpretation of the BC 2-symmetric “Type I” (elliptic Dixon) elliptic hypergeometric integral evaluation as a formula for a Casoratian of the elliptic hypergeometric equation and then generalize this construction to higher-dimensional integrals and higher-order hypergeometric functions. This allows us to prove the corresponding formulas for the elliptic beta integral and symmetry transformation in a new way, by proving that both sides satisfy the same difference equations and that these difference equations satisfy a needed Galois-theoretic condition ensuring the uniqueness of the simultaneous solution.  相似文献

Multivariate hypergeometric functions associated with toric varieties were introduced by Gel'fand, Kapranov and Zelevinsky. Singularities of such functions are discriminants, that is, divisors projectively dual to torus orbit closures. We show that most of these potential denominators never appear in rational hypergeometric functions. We conjecture that the denominator of any rational hypergeometric function is a product of resultants, that is, a product of special discriminants arising from Cayley configurations. This conjecture is proved for toric hypersurfaces and for toric varieties of dimension at most three. Toric residues are applied to show that every toric resultant appears in the denominator of some rational hypergeometric function.  相似文献

For a family of transcendental hypergeometric series, we determine explicitly the set of algebraic points at which the series takes algebraic values (the so-called exceptional set). This answers a question of Siegel in special cases. For this, we first prove identities, each one relating locally one hypergeometric series to modular functions. In some cases, the identity and the theory of complex multiplication allow the determination of an infinite subset of the exceptional set. These subsets are shown to be the whole sets in using a consequence of Wüstholz's Analytic Subgroup Theorem together with mapping properties of Schwarz triangle functions. Further consequences of the identities are explicit evaluations of hypergeometric series at algebraic points. Some of them provide examples for Kroneckers Jugendtraum.  相似文献

In this article, we consider basic hypergeometric functions introduced by Heine. We study the mapping properties of certain ratios of basic hypergeometric functions having shifted parameters and show that they map the domains of analyticity onto domains convex in the direction of the imaginary axis. In order to investigate these mapping properties, some useful identities are obtained in terms of basic hypergeometric functions. In addition, we find conditions under which the basic hypergeometric functions are in a q-close-to-convex family.  相似文献

We prove a special case of Siegel's conjecture concerning the representability of E-functions in the form of polynomials in hypergeometric functions. We prove several assertions (formulated earlier by A. B. Shidlovskii) about the transcendence and linear independence of values of E-functions.  相似文献

We consider non-terminating Gauss hypergeometric series with one free parameter. Using various properties of hypergeometric functions we obtain some necessary conditions of arithmetic flavor for such series to admit gamma product formulas.  相似文献
