We show that in the dual of Weak L1 the subspace of all rearrangement invariant continuous linear functionals is lattice isometric to a space L1(μ) and is the linear hull of the maximal elements of the dual unit ball. We also show that the dual of Weak L1 contains a norm closed weak* dense ideal which is lattice isometric to an 1-sum of spaces of type C(K). Helmut H. Schaefer in memoriam  相似文献

We give a short and direct proof for the computation of the Szlenk index of the C(K) spaces, when K is a countable compact space and determine their Lavrientiev indices. We also compute the Szlenk index of certain C(α) spaces, where α is an uncountable ordinal. Finally, we show that if the Szlenk index of a Banach space is ω (first infinite ordinal), then its weak*-dentability index is at most ω2 and that this estimate is optimal. We give a new proof of a recent characterization by Diaz and Mayoral of compactness in the Lebesgue-Bochner spaces LXp, where X is a Banach space and 1≤ p<∞, and extend the result to vector-valued Banach function spaces EX, where E is a Banach function space with order continuous norm. We prove a representation theorem for Hausdorff locally convex (M)-lattices which are Dedekind σ-complete, and whose topologies are order σ-continuous and monotonically complete. These turn out to be the weighted spaces c0(T, H), defined in the paper for T ≠ and H T+. We also characterize the dual of c0(T, H), as the space l1 (T, H) defined in the last section. The known representation (on c0(T)) of Banach (M)-lattices with order continuous norm follows as a particular case. We obtain these results by first proving a new general isomorphism theorem, which seems to be of independent interest. Our notion of “monotonic topological completeness” is weaker than the usual completeness and seems to be very convenient in the framework of topological ordered vector spaces.  相似文献

We prove that a bounded operator S on L a p for p > 1 is compact if and only if the Berezin transform of S vanishes on the boundary of the unit disk if S satisfies some integrable conditions. Some estimates about the norm and essential norm of Toeplitz operators with symbols in BT are obtained.  相似文献

We show that if a small holomorphic Sobolev space on the unit disk is not just small but very small, then a trivial necessary condition is also sufficient for a composition operator to be bounded. A similar result for holomorphic Lipschitz spaces is also obtained. These results may be viewed as boundedness analogues of Shapiro’s theorem concerning compact composition operators on small spaces. We also prove the converse of Shapiro’s theorem if the symbol function is already contained in the space under consideration. In the course of the proofs we characterize the bounded composition operators on the Zygmund class. Also, as a by-product of our arguments, we show that small holomorphic Sobolev spaces are algebras.  相似文献

Necessary and sufficient conditions are found for the possibility of an extension of Invertibility Symbols from a dense subalgebra to its closure. It is proved that such an extension is possible if and only if the closure does not have any Kakutani elements. The extension of Invertibility Symbols from a Banach algebra to the matrix-valued case is also considered. Algebras with Polynomial Identities play an important role here. Applications to algebras generated by two idempotents and to algebras generated by singular integral operators are suggested.  相似文献

This paper is a continuation of [GK3] where the theory of Invertibility Symbol in Banach algebras was developed. In the present paper we generalize these results for the case when the Invertibility Symbol is defined on a subalgebra of the Banach algebras. The difficulty which arises here in this more general case is connected with the fact that some elements of the subalgebra may have the inverses which do not belong to the subalgebra. This generalization of the theory allows us to study the Fredholm Symbols of linear operators. Applications to subalgebras generated by two idempotents and to algebras generated by singular integral operators are presented.  相似文献

We give a generalization of the Newman-Shapiro Isometry Theorem to the case of Hilbert space-valued entire functions, which are square-summable with respect to the Gaussian measure on n , together with some applications in the theory of Toeplitz operators with operator-valued symbols. We show that a sequentially (τ)-complete topological vector lattice Xτ is isomorphic to some L1(μ), if and only if the positive cone can be written as X+ = +B for some convex, (τ)-bounded, and (τ)-closed set B X+ {0}. The same result holds under weaker hypotheses, namely the Riesz decomposition property for X (not assumed to be a vector lattice) and the monotonic σ-completeness (monotonic Cauchy sequences converge). The isometric part of the main result implies the well-known representation theorem of Kakutani for (AL)-spaces. As an application we show that on a normed space Y of infinite dimension, the “ball-generated” ordering induced by the cone Y+ = + (for u >) cannot have the Riesz decomposition property. A second application deals with a pointwise ordering on a space of multivariate polynomials.  相似文献

In this paper we find invariant subspaces of certain positive quasinilpotent operators on Krein spaces and, more generally, on ordered Banach spaces with closed generating cones. We introduce a candidate for the group algebra of a Hausdorff group which plays the same role as the group algebra of a finite group. It allows to define a natural bijection betweenk-continuous representations of the group in a Hilbert space and continuous representations of the group algebra. Such bijections are known, but to our knowledge only for locally compact groups. We can establish such a bijection for more general groups, namely Hausdorff groups, because we replace integration techniques by functorial methods, i.e., by using a duality functor which lives in certain categories of topological Banach balls (resp., unit balls of Saks spaces).This paper was written while the authors were supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation under grant 21-33644.92.  相似文献
