EPA 16 priority polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were extracted from dust by supercritical fluid extraction (SFE). Parameters (pressure, temperature and time) affecting the collection efficiencies of PAHs were assessed according to the extraction efficiency, and 30 MPa, 80 degrees C and 30 min dynamic extraction time were confirmed to be the best and simplest conditions of SFE to extract 16 priority PAHs from dust. The characterization of the extracts was carried out by gas chromatography with mass detector in selective ion mode (GC/MS/SIM). Ultrasonic extraction (USE) was used as a comparison with SFE. The results showed that the SFE method has a better efficiency than USE for the extraction of PAHs in dust. With the optimized conditions of SFE, the distribution of PAHs in dust samples in urban areas of Shanghai from Mar 10, 2005 to May 28, 2005 was investigated. The results demonstrated that traffic emission, especially from gasoline engines, was the main source of PAHs in dust of Shanghai.  相似文献

An efficient and reliable analytical method was developed for the sensitive and selective quantification of pyrethroid pesticides (PYRs) in house dust samples. The method is based on selective pressurized liquid extraction (SPLE) of the dust-bound PYRs into dichloromethane (DCM) with analysis by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. Various adsorbents and combinations of extraction solvents and temperatures were evaluated to achieve a high-throughput sample preparation that eliminates the post-extraction cleanup step. The final method used sulfuric acid-impregnated silica (acid silica) and neutral silica together in the extraction cell with the dust sample to provide both extraction and cleanup simultaneously. The optimal ratio of dust/acid silica/silica was 1:0.8:8. The extraction was performed at 2000 psi, at 100 °C with DCM for 5 min in three cycles. Method precision and accuracy were evaluated by the analysis of triplicate aliquots of the dust samples and the samples fortified with the target PYRs. The accuracy measured as the recoveries of the PYRs in the fortified samples ranged from 85% to 120%. The precision measured as the relative standard deviation of replicate samples was within ±25%. The SPLE method was applied to 20 house dust samples collected from households that participated in two field studies regarding exposures to pesticides and other pollutants. Similar concentrations of target PYRs were obtained for the SPLE and a stepwise extraction/cleanup procedure. The SPLE procedure reduces organic solvent consumption and increases the sample throughput when compared with a traditional stepwise extraction and cleanup procedure. This study demonstrates that the SPLE procedure can be applied to complex dust matrices for analysis of PYRs for large scale exposure or environmental monitoring studies.  相似文献

The extraction of polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) from SRM 2585 (Organic Contaminants in House Dust) was investigated using supercritical fluid R134a as an extraction solvent. Three methods of dust extraction were studied: (1) extraction of dry dust, (2) extraction of dry dust dispersed on Ottawa sand and (3) extraction of dust wet with dichloromethane. For each of the three sample preparation methods, extracts at three temperatures (110, 150, and 200 °C) above the critical temperature of R134a were performed. Eight PBDE congeners (BDE-28, -47, -99, 100, -153, -154, -183, and -209) in the SFE extracts were analyzed by liquid chromatography negative-ion atmospheric pressure photoionization tandem mass spectrometry (LC/NI-APPI/MS/MS). The optimum extraction of PBDEs from house dust using supercritical R134a is obtained when the dust is pre-wet with dichloromethane prior to extraction to swell the dust. For all sample preparation methods, higher temperatures afforded higher percent recoveries of the eight PBDE congeners. Only a combination of high-temperature (200 °C) and pre-wetting the dust with dichloromethane produced high recovery of the environmentally important, fully brominated PBDE congener, BDE-209.  相似文献

An analytical method was elaborated for simultaneous extraction and determination of fluorinated anionic and non-ionic surfactants in sewage sludge. Surfactant compounds were determined by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) after Soxhlet extraction, hot steam extraction and pressurised liquid extraction (PLE) using spiked sludge samples. PLE in a multiple-step procedure consisting of sequential use of ethyl acetate-dimethylformamide and methanol-phosphoric acid resulted in the most efficient extraction procedure. Quantitative analyses of the fluorinated anionic perfluorooctanesulfonate (PFOS) and the partly fluorinated non-ionic alkylpolyglycol ether (FAEO) surfactants were performed by selected ion monitoring LC-MS. Electrospray ionisation or atmospheric pressure chemical ionisation in negative or positive mode was performed. Recoveries between 105 and 120% could be reached. No PFOS and non-ionic FAEO surfactants in concentrations higher than 6 or 10 mg kg(-1) dry matter were observed in real environmental samples. Therefore aerobic and anaerobic biodegradation was performed to investigate the fate of fluorinated surfactants reaching wastewaters. Biological wastewater treatment in laboratory scale under aerobic or anaerobic conditions led to an elimination by biodegradation.  相似文献

A new method has been developed for the simultaneous determination of the most frequently used anionic surfactants - linear alkylbenzene sulfonates (LAS), alkyl ethoxysulfates (AES) and alkyl sulfates (AS) - in aqueous and sediment samples. Preconcentration and purification of water samples are carried out by means of solid-phase extraction (SPE). The efficiency of two different extraction methods for the analysis of sediments - Soxhlet extraction and pressurized liquid extraction (PLE) - has been compared. Identification and quantification of the target compounds is performed using a liquid chromatography - mass spectrometry (LC-MS) system equipped with an electrospray interface (ESI) in negative ion-mode. Homologue recoveries are 85-123% for SPE, 94-112% for Soxhlet extraction and 81-125% for PLE in the case of LAS, and 60-94% for SPE, 61-109% for Soxhlet extraction and 55-99% for PLE in the case of AES, whereas the limits of detection are 0.1-0.5 ngml(-1) in water and 1-5 ngg(-1) in sediment. This method has been applied to the determination of anionic surfactants in the Guadalete estuary (SW Spain), and LAS concentration levels from 538 to 1014 ngg(-1) in sediments and from 25.1 to 64.4 ngml(-1) in waters have been found. AES values from 168 to 536 ngg(-1) in sediments and from 4.5 to 11.9 ngml(-1) in waters are reported for the first time in European rivers.  相似文献

A novel, highly selective method for the determination of nicotine, N-nitrosamines and tobacco-specific nitrosamines (TSNAs) in indoor dust samples is presented in this study. Samples were extracted by in-cell clean-up pressurized liquid extraction (PLE) that allows high extraction efficiency with moderate consumption of organic solvents. The extracts were analyzed by comprehensive gas chromatography and detected with a nitrogen chemiluminiscence detector (GC × GC-NCD) that provided enhanced selectivity and sensitivity for organic nitrogen containing compounds. Method validation showed good linearity, repeatability and reproducibility (%RSD < 8%). Recovery was higher than 80% for most target compounds and limits of detection lower than 16 ng g?1. The method was used for the determination of the nitrosamine target compounds in house dust samples from both smoking and non-smoking households. All the analytes were found in the samples, nicotine being the most abundant compound in smokers’ dust and one of the most abundant in non-smokers’ dust. To our knowledge this is the first time that volatile N-nitrosamines and TSNAs have been determined in indoor dust samples. The results demonstrate the presence of these highly carcinogenic compounds in house dust, with inherent human exposure through inhalation and/or involuntary ingestion of house dust.  相似文献

A method for studying PCB desorption behaviour from sediments using supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) and pressurized liquid extraction (PLE) is presented. Four sediments were investigated and extracted with supercritical carbon dioxide employing increasingly harsher extraction conditions ranging from 40°C and 12?MPa to 100°C and 36.5?MPa. To ensure quantitative extractions, the remaining SFE residues were also extracted with PLE. Resulting profiles identified at least three different PCB fractions within the four sediments. Furthermore, a distinct fraction was obtained with extraction for 2?h at 40°C and 36.5?MPa. This fraction has previously been found to correlate well with bioavailable fractions. The dependency of this fraction on sediment total organic carbon (TOC) was investigated, both for sediments examined in this study as well as for previously reported values using the same extraction conditions. It was found that TOC does not correlate to selective SFE, which indicates that the use of TOC to predict bioavailability is questionable.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to valorize Thymus serpyllum herbal dust, a particular fraction distinguished as an industrial waste from filter-tea production. Pressurized liquid extraction (PLE) was used with the aim of overcoming certain obstacles of conventional extraction techniques in terms of shortening extraction time, reducing solvent consumption and energy costs, using “green” solvents and obtaining high yield and quality products. In order to optimize PLE of T. serpyllum herbal dust, the preliminary screening of the independent variables in order to define the most influential parameters and their domain was done first. After the screening, the optimization study using the face-centered central composite experimental design (CCD) with response surface methodology (RSM) was implemented. Additionally, taking into account the high awareness of the positive influence of antioxidants on the human health and associating it with high content of polyphenolic compounds in various members of Lamiaceae family, PLE has proven to be a great approach for antioxidants recovery from T. serpyllum herbal dust.  相似文献

This paper reviews the phenolic-compound-extraction systems used to analyse fruit and vegetable samples over the last 10 years. Phenolic compounds are naturally occurring antioxidants, usually found in fruits and vegetables. Sample preparation for analytical studies is necessary to determine the polyphenolic composition in these matrices. The most widely used extraction system is liquid-liquid extraction (LLE), which is an inexpensive method since it involves the use of organic solvents, but it requires long extraction times, giving rise to possible extract degradation. Likewise, solid-phase extraction (SPE) can be used in liquid samples. Modern techniques, which have been replacing conventional ones, include: supercritical fluid extraction (SFE), pressurized liquid extraction (PLE), microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) and ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE). These alternative techniques reduce considerably the use of solvents and accelerate the extraction process.  相似文献

Supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) and simultaneous distillation-extraction (SDE) were used to extract the essential oils from three different spices (oregano, basil, and mint), and a comparative study of extracts obtained using SFE and SDE is presented. Temperature and pressure for the SFE extraction were optimized prior to the experimental extractions. The extracts obtained using the two methods were very similar in composition, but SFE yielded better relative standard deviations and avoided the thermal degradation or solvent contamination of samples.  相似文献

The cloud point technique was used to recover phenol, 4-methylphenol, and 4-nitrophenol from aqueous solutions using oxyethylated methyl dodecanoates as nonionic surfactants. Oxyethylated methyl dodecanoates are convenient nonionic surfactants for such separations. Their cloud points can be easily modified by a change in surfactant hydrophilicity or by the addition of a second nonionic surfactant and/or an electrolyte. The use of the hydrophile lipophile balance is preferred to model the cloud point of oxyethylated methyl dodecanoates and their mixtures with other surfactants. The composition of the surfactant-rich phase depends on electrolyte type and the overheating. The phase can contain only 5-15% of water. Recovery of phenols changes in the order 4-nitrophenol >4-methylphenol > phenol and is increased in the presence of sodium chloride. The presence of salting-out electrolytes is preferred both to decrease the cloud point and to increase the efficiency of extraction.  相似文献

The extraction of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) from petroleum source rock by nonionic surfactants with the assistance of microwave irradiation was investigated and the conditions for maximum yield were determined. The results showed that the extraction temperatures and type of surfactant have significant effects on extraction yields of PAHs. Factors such as surfactant concentration, irradiation power, sample/solvent ratio and mixing surfactants (i.e., mixture of surfactant at specific ratio) also influence the extraction efficiencies for these compounds. The optimum temperature for microwave-assisted nonionic surfactant extraction of PAHs from petroleum source rock was 120 °C and the best suited surfactant was Brij 35. The new method showed extraction efficiencies comparable to those afforded by the Soxhlet extraction method, but a reduction of the extraction times and environmentally friendliness of the new nonionic surfactant extraction system are clear advantages. The results also show that microwave-assisted nonionic surfactant extraction is a good and efficient green analytical preparatory technique for geochemical evaluation of petroleum source rock.

The concentration and the sources of heavy metals (Pb, Cd, Zn and Cu) in house dust samples of nine selected houses of Jalil Town, Gujranwala, Pakistan are determined and a comparison with the concentration of these metals in respective street dust samples is given. Sources, exterior as well as interior are identified. The extent of contribution of lead in house dust from exterior sources and interior sources is calculated by determining the isotopic ratios in house dust, street dust and paint used in the houses. It is noticed in the case of well ventilated houses, that most of the heavy metal contribution is from the exterior sources. However, in less ventilated houses, contribution from the interior sources is also significant.  相似文献

A novel and sensitive method for the determination of five benzotriazole compounds (commonly used as light stabilizers) in indoor dust is presented. Pressurized liquid extraction (PLE) and gas chromatography followed by tandem in time mass spectrometry (GC–MS/MS) were used as sample preparation and determination techniques, respectively. Extraction and clean-up were integrated on-line and, after an evaporative concentration step, the extract provided by the PLE instrument was injected directly in the GC–MS/MS system. Parameters affecting the performance of the sample preparation process were evaluated using experimental factorial designs. Under optimized conditions, analytes were recovered from 0.5 g samples in 3 static extraction cycles of 10 min, using a hexane:dichloromethane (7:3) mixture, at 90 °C. Silica (1 g) was placed in the bottom of the extraction cells as clean-up sorbent. The recoveries of the method varied from 82 to 122%, with standard deviations below 13. The inter-day precision ranged from 9 to 12%, and the limits of quantification (LOQs) remained below 10 ng g−1 for all species. For the first time, four of the five investigated species were found in dust from indoor environments. Their mean concentrations ranged from 71 to 780 ng g−1.  相似文献

1,4-Dioxane impurity in nonionic surfactants and cosmetics were analyzed using solid-phase microextraction (SPME) coupled with gas chromatography (GC) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Experimental results show that there is no significant difference using SPME-GC and SPME-GC-MS for analysis of 1,4-dioxane in three types of nonionic surfactants at the 95% confidence level. The relative standard deviation (R.S.D.) values of each analytical method were smaller than 3%. The amount of 1,4-dioxane was found to vary from 11.6 +/- 0.3 ppm to 73.5 +/- 0.5 ppm in 30% of nonionic surfactants from manufacturers in Taiwan. These methods were linear over the studied range of 3-150 ppm with correlation coefficients higher than 0.995. The recoveries of 1,4-dioxane for these nonionic surfactants following SPME were all higher than 96 +/- 1% (n = 3). The detection limits of 1,4-dioxane for these nonionic surfactants following SPME were from 0.06 ppm to 0.51 ppm. The experimentally determined level of 1,4-dioxane in cosmetics from manufacturers in Taiwan varied from 4.2 +/- 0.1 ppm to 41.1 +/- 0.6 ppm in 22% of daily used cosmetics following SPME coupled with GC and GC-MS. Conventional solvent extraction takes around 1 h for extraction and reconcentration but SPME takes only around 10 min. SPME provides better analyses of 1,4-dioxane in nonionic surfactants and cosmetics than conventional solvent extraction and head space pretreatments in term of simplicity, speed, precision, detection limit, and solvent consumption.  相似文献

In the present work, a comparative study between two environmentally friendly and selective extraction techniques, such as supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) and pressurized liquid extraction (PLE) have been carried out focusing in the bioactive phenolic compounds present in Rosmarinus officinalis. For the analysis of the SFE and PLE extracts, a new methodology for qualitative characterization has been developed, based on the use of reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC), equipped with two different detection systems coupled in series: diode array detector (DAD) and time of flight mass spectrometry (TOF-MS) detector connected via an electrospray ionization interface (ESI). The use of a small particle size C(18) column (1.8 μm) provided a great resolution and made possible the separation of several isomers. Moreover, UV-visible spectrophotometry is a valuable tool for identifying the class of phenolic compounds, whereas MS data enabled to structurally characterize the compounds present in the extracts. The applied methodology was useful for the determination of many well-known phenolic compounds present in R. officinalis, such as carnosol, carnosic acid, rosmadial, rosmanol, genkwanin, homoplantaginin, scutellarein, cirsimaritin and rosmarinic acid, as well as other phenolic compounds present in other species belonging to Lamiaceae family.  相似文献

This study describes the development of a new method for determining p-hydroxybenzoic esters (parabens) in house dust. This optimised method was based on the pressurised hot water extraction (PHWE) of house dust, followed by the acetylation of the extracted parabens, stir bar sorptive extraction (SBSE) with a polydimethylsiloxane stir bar, and finally analysis using thermal desorption-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (TD-GC-MS). The combination of SBSE and PHWE allows the analytes to be preconcentrated and extracted from the aqueous extract in a single step with minimal manipulation of the sample. Furthermore the in situ acetylation of parabens prior to SBSE improved their extraction efficiency and their GC-MS signal. The method showed recoveries of between 40 and 80%, good linearity, repeatability and reproducibility (<10% RSD, at 100 ng g(-1), n=5), low limits of detection (from 1.0 ng g(-1) for propyl paraben to 2.1 ng g(-1) for methyl paraben) and quantification (from 3.3 ng g(-1) for propyl paraben to 8.5 ng g(-1) for methyl paraben). The proposed method was applied to the analysis of house dust samples. All the target parabens were found in the samples. Methyl and propyl parabens were the most abundant, with concentrations up to 2440 ng g(-1) and 910 ng g(-1), respectively. The high levels of parabens found in the samples confirm the importance of determining organic contaminants in indoor environments.  相似文献

采用超临界流体萃取与气相色谱/质谱联用技术对兰州市大气飘尘中有机污染物进行了测定。实验考察了对强致癌性化合物多环芳烃类萃取的最佳条件,在26.0MPa,80℃下,0.5mL甲醇做改性剂,用CO2作为超临界萃取介质,静态萃取10min后再以0.5mL/min的流速动态萃取30min,对实际样品进行了定性定量分析,共检测出69种有机污染物,该方法简便,快速,适合于飘尘中有机污染物的测定。  相似文献

A procedure for the determination of eight organophosphate flame retardants and plasticizers in dust samples is presented. Microwave-assisted extraction and gas chromatography (GC) with nitrogen-phosphorus detection (NPD) were used for sample preparation and analytes quantification, respectively. Influence of different variables (type and volume of organic solvent, temperature, time, agitation, etc.) on the yield of the extraction step was evaluated. The most important factor was the type of solvent, with the highest efficiencies corresponding to acetone. Under final conditions 10 mL of this solvent were employed. The extraction was carried out at 130 degrees C and satisfactory yields, similar to those obtained with the Soxhlet technique, were achieved. Due to the high content of organic carbon in dust samples, primary acetone extracts had to be subjected to intensive clean-up. Dilution with ultrapure water followed by concentration on a reversed-phase sorbent and further purification using silica, allowed a significant reduction of co-extracted interferences. Application of the developed methodology to indoor dust from private houses showed important concentrations of several organophosphate esters. The highest levels, up to 19 microg/g, corresponded to tris(butoxyethyl) phosphate; moreover, average values of two chlorinated compounds, used as flame retardants and considered as the most concerning species in the group, exceeded the 1 microg/g level.  相似文献

An analytical method based upon the pressurised solvent extraction and gas chromatography and mass spectrometry (GC-MS) for analysis of nitrated derivatives of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (nitro-PAHs) in roadside dust has been developed. Five nitro-PAHs (1-nitronaphthalene, 1-nitropyrene, 9-nitroanthracene, 2-nitrofluorene, 6-nitrochrysene) were chosen for this study because of their variable physical properties and effect on human health. Experiments with spiked inert matrix were used for the best extraction conditions finding. Different extraction conditions (temperature, pressure, solvents and duration of extraction cycle) were examined. The highest recoveries were observed at the extraction pressure of 14?MPa, temperature of 100°C and two cycles of 5?min extraction time, when dichloromethane was used as an extraction solvent. These conditions were applied to the extraction of nitro-PAHs from roadside dust. After extraction the nitro-PAHs fraction was isolated by the silica gel column chromatography. The GC-MS detector was used for analyses of the extracts. Recoveries of nitro-PAHs after extraction from roadside dust ranged from 60% for 9-nitroanthracene to 108% for 6-nitrochrysene.  相似文献
