Let R d be the ℤ-module generated by the irreducible characters of the symmetric group . We determine bases for the kernel of the decomposition map. It is known that R d F is isomorphic to the radical quotient of the Solomon descent algebra when F is a field of characteristic zero. We show that when F has prime characteristic and I br d is the kernel of the decomposition map for prime p then R d /I br d F is isomorphic to the radical quotient of the p-modular Solomon descent algebra. A hardware-oriented algorithm for generating permutations is presented that takes as a theoretic base an iterative decomposition of the symmetric groupS n into cosets. It generates permutations in a new order. Simple ranking and unranking algorithms are given. The construction of a permutation generator is proposed which contains a cellular permutation network as a main component. The application of the permutation generator for solving a class of combinatorial problems on parallel computers is suggested.  相似文献

In this paper, using the construction method of [3], we show that if q>2 is a prime power such that there exists an affine plane of order q?1, then there exists a strongly divisible 2?(q?1)(qh?1), qh?1(q?1), qh?1) design for every h?2. We show that these quasi-residual designs are embeddable, and hence establish the existence of an infinite family of symmetric 2?(qh+1?q+1,qh, qh?1) designs.
