The <Emphasis Type="Italic">(S)</Emphasis><Stack><Subscript>+</Subscript><Superscript>1</Superscript></Stack>Condition for Generalized Vector Variational Inequalities

In this paper, we extend the (S) ₊ ¹ condition to multivalued mappings in an ordered Hausdorff topological vector space and we derive some existence results for generalized vector variational inequalities associated with multivalued mappings satisfying the (S) ₊ ¹ condition. We generalize also an existence result of Cubiotti and Yao for generalized variational inequalities of class (S) ₊ ¹ to barreled normed spaces. As consequences, some existence results for vector variational inequalities are established.This work was partially supported by grants from the National Science Council of the Republic of China. A new multivariable <Subscript><Emphasis Type="BoldItalic">6</Emphasis></Subscript><Emphasis Type="BoldItalic">ψ</Emphasis><Subscript><Emphasis Type="BoldItalic">6</Emphasis></Subscript> summation formula

By multidimensional matrix inversion, combined with an A _r extension of Jackson’s ₈ φ ₇ summation formula by Milne, a new multivariable ₈ φ ₇ summation is derived. By a polynomial argument this ₈ φ ₇ summation is transformed to another multivariable ₈ φ ₇ summation which, by taking a suitable limit, is reduced to a new multivariable extension of the nonterminating ₆ φ ₅ summation. The latter is then extended, by analytic continuation, to a new multivariable extension of Bailey’s very-well-poised ₆ ψ ₆ summation formula. Classification of two-dimensional totally geodesic submanifolds in the Grassmannian <Emphasis Type="Italic">G</Emphasis><Stack><Subscript>3,6</Subscript><Superscript>+</Superscript></Stack>

Simply connected symplectic 4-manifolds with <Emphasis Type="Italic">b</Emphasis><Subscript>2</Subscript><Superscript>+</Superscript>=1 and <Emphasis Type="Italic">c</Emphasis><Subscript>1</Subscript><Superscript>2</Superscript>=2

In this article we construct a new simply connected symplectic 4-manifold with b₂⁺=1 and c₁²=2 which is homeomorphic, but not diffeomorphic, to a rational surface by using rational blow-down technique. Equilateral Sets in <Emphasis Type="Italic">l</Emphasis><Stack><Subscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis></Subscript><Superscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">n</Emphasis></Superscript></Stack>

We show that for every odd integer p 1 there is an absolute positive constantc_p, so that the maximum cardinality of a set of vectors in Rⁿ such that the l_p distance between any pair is precisely 1, is at most c_p n log n. We prove some upper bounds for other l_p norms as well.     

Bar-invariant bases of the quantum cluster algebra of type <Emphasis Type="Italic">A</Emphasis><Stack><Subscript>2</Subscript><Superscript>(2)</Superscript></Stack>

We construct bar-invariant ℤ[q ^±1/2]-bases of the quantum cluster algebra of the valued quiver A ₂⁽²⁾, one of which coincides with the quantum analogue of the basis of the corresponding cluster algebra discussed in P. Sherman, A. Zelevinsky: Positivity and canonical bases in rank 2 cluster algebras of finite and affine types, Moscow Math. J., 4, 2004, 947–974.     

Irreducible <Emphasis Type="Italic">A</Emphasis><Stack><Subscript>1</Subscript><Superscript>(1)</Superscript></Stack>-modules from modules over two-dimensional non-abelian Lie algebra

For any module V over the two-dimensional non-abelian Lie algebra b and scalar α ∈ C, we define a class of weight modules F ^α (V) with zero central charge over the affine Lie algebra A ₁ ⁽¹⁾ . These weight modules have infinitedimensional weight spaces if and only if V is infinite dimensional. In this paper, we will determine necessary and sufficient conditions for these modules F ^α(V) to be irreducible. In this way, we obtain a lot of irreducible weight A ₁ ⁽¹⁾ -modules with infinite-dimensional weight spaces.     

Novikov superalgebras with <Emphasis Type="Italic">A</Emphasis><Subscript>0</Subscript> = <Emphasis Type="Italic">A</Emphasis><Subscript>1</Subscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">A</Emphasis><Subscript>1</Subscript>

Novikov superalgebras are related to quadratic conformal superalgebras which correspond to the Hamiltonian pairs and play a fundamental role in completely integrable systems. In this note we show that the Novikov superalgebras with A ₀ = A ₁ A ₁ and dim A ₁ = 2 are of type N and give a class of Novikov superalgebras of type S with A ₀ = A ₁ A ₁.     

The Gradient Flow of <Emphasis Type="Italic">∫</Emphasis><Subscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">M</Emphasis></Subscript>|Rm|<Superscript>2</Superscript>

We study the gradient flow of the Riemannian functional ℱ(g):=∫ _M |Rm|². This flow corresponds to a fourth-order degenerate parabolic equation for a Riemannian metric. We prove that the degeneracies may be accounted for entirely by diffeomorphism flow, and hence we show short-time existence using the DeTurck method. We prove L ² derivative estimates of Bernstein-Bando-Shi type and use these to give a basic obstruction to long time existence and prove a compactness theorem.      

Exact order of relative widths of classes <Emphasis Type="Italic">W</Emphasis><Stack><Subscript>1</Subscript><Superscript>r</Superscript></Stack> in the space <Emphasis Type="Italic">L</Emphasis><Subscript>1</Subscript>

Polyhedral <Emphasis Type="Italic">K</Emphasis><Subscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">2</Emphasis></Subscript>

 Using elementary graded automorphisms of polytopal algebras (essentially the coordinate rings of projective toric varieties) polyhedral versions of the group of elementary matrices and the Steinberg and Milnor groups are defined. They coincide with the usual K-theoretic groups in the special case when the polytope is a unit simplex and can be thought of as compact/polytopal substitutes for the tame automorphism groups of polynomial algebras. Relative to the classical case, many new aspects have to be taken into account. We describe these groups explicitly when the underlying polytope is 2-dimensional. Already this low-dimensional case provides interesting classes of groups. We show that for each positive integerk there is ak×k matrixB with ±1 entries such that puttingE to be the span of the rows of thek×2k matrix [√kI _k,B], thenE,E ^⊥ is a Kashin splitting: TheL ₁ ^2k and theL ₂ ^2k are universally equivalent on bothE andE ^⊥. Interpolation of operators of weak type (ϕ<Subscript>0</Subscript>, ψ<Subscript>0</Subscript>, ϕ<Subscript>1</Subscript>, ψ<Subscript>1</Subscript>) in Lorentz spaces

We prove theorems on interpolation of quasilinear operators of weak type (ϕ₀, ψ₀, ϕ₀, ψ₁) in Lorentz spaces. Regular space-like hypersurfaces in S<Stack><Subscript>1</Subscript><Superscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">m</Emphasis>+1</Superscript></Stack> with parallel para-Blaschke tensors

In this paper, we give a complete conformal classification of the regular space-like hypersurfaces in the de Sitter Space S ^m+1 ₁ with parallel para-Blaschke tensors.     

State spaces of <Emphasis Type="Italic">JB</Emphasis><Superscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">*</Emphasis></Superscript>-triples<Superscript>*</Superscript>

An atomic decomposition is proved for Banach spaces which satisfy some affine geometric axioms compatible with notions from the quantum mechanical measuring process. This is then applied to yield, under appropriate assumptions, geometric characterizations, up to isometry, of the unit ball of the dual space of a JB^*-triple, and up to complete isometry, of one-sided ideals in C^*-algebras.Mathematics Subject Classification (2000):17C65, 46L07Both authors are supported by NSF grant DMS-0101153     

On the imbedding of the Waterman class in the class <Emphasis Type="Italic">h</Emphasis><Stack><Subscript>p</Subscript><Superscript>ω</Superscript></Stack>

On generalized <Emphasis Type="Italic">R</Emphasis><Subscript>0</Subscript> and <Emphasis Type="Italic">R</Emphasis><Subscript>1</Subscript> spaces

Characterizations of some properties of generalized R ₀ and R ₁ topological spaces by using closure operator defined on a generalized topological space will be given. It is also shown that many results done in this area in some previous papers can be considered as special cases of our results.     

Three realizations of the quantum affine algebra <Emphasis Type="Italic">U</Emphasis><Subscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">q</Emphasis></Subscript>(<Emphasis Type="Italic">A</Emphasis><Subscript>2</Subscript><Superscript>(2)</Superscript>

We establish explicit isomorphisms between three realizations of the quantum twisted affine algebra U _q (A ₂ ⁽²⁾: the Drinfeld current realization, the Chevalley realization, and the so-called RLL realization proposed by Reshetikhin, Takhtajan, and Faddeev.
