Let G=(V,E) be a graph. A subset SV is a dominating set of G, if every vertex uVS is dominated by some vertex vS. The domination number, denoted by γ(G), is the minimum cardinality of a dominating set. For the generalized Petersen graph G(n), Behzad et al. [A. Behzad, M. Behzad, C.E. Praeger, On the domination number of the generalized Petersen graphs, Discrete Mathematics 308 (2008) 603-610] proved that and conjectured that the upper bound is the exact domination number. In this paper we prove this conjecture.  相似文献

Graph domination numbers and algorithms for finding them have been investigated for numerous classes of graphs, usually for graphs that have some kind of tree-like structure. By contrast, we study an infinite family of regular graphs, the generalized Petersen graphs G(n). We give two procedures that between them produce both upper and lower bounds for the (ordinary) domination number of G(n), and we conjecture that our upper bound ⌈3n/5⌉ is the exact domination number. To our knowledge this is one of the first classes of regular graphs for which such a procedure has been used to estimate the domination number.  相似文献

The double generalized Petersen graph DP(n,t), n3 and tZn?{0}, 22t<n, has vertex-set {xi,yi,ui,viiZn}, edge-set {{xi,xi+1},{yi,yi+1},{ui,vi+t},{vi,ui+t},{xi,ui},{yi,vi}iZn}. These graphs were first defined by Zhou and Feng as examples of vertex-transitive non-Cayley graphs. Then, Kutnar and Petecki considered the structural properties, Hamiltonicity properties, vertex-coloring and edge-coloring of DP(n,t), and conjectured that all DP(n,t) are Hamiltonian. In this paper, we prove this conjecture.  相似文献

The skewness of a graph G is the minimum number of edges in G whose removal results in a planar graph. In this paper, we determine the skewness of the generalized Petersen graph P(4k, k) and hence a lower bound for the crossing number of P(4k, k). In addition, an upper bound for the crossing number of P(4k, k) is also given.  相似文献

Both the circulant graph and the generalized Petersen graph are important types of graphs in graph theory. In this paper, the structures of embeddings of circulant graph C(2n + 1; {1, n}) on the projective plane are described, the number of embeddings of C(2n + 1; {1, n}) on the projective plane follows, then the number of embeddings of the generalized Petersen graph P(2n +1, n) on the projective plane is deduced from that of C(2n +1; {1, n}), because C(2n + 1;{1, n}) is a minor of P(2n + 1, n), their structures of embeddings have relations. In the same way, the number of embeddings of the generalized Petersen graph P(2n, 2) on the projective plane is also obtained.  相似文献

In earlier work involving cycles in Generalized Petersen Graphs, we noticed some unexpected instances of P(m,k)≅P(m,l). In this article, all such instances are characterized. A formula is presented for the number of isomorphism classes of P(m,k).  相似文献

A set S of vertices in a graph G is a total dominating set if every vertex of G is adjacent to some vertex in S. The minimum cardinality of a total dominating set of G is the total domination number of G. Two vertices of G are said to be dotted (identified) if they are combined to form one vertex whose open neighborhood is the union of their neighborhoods minus themselves. We note that dotting any pair of vertices cannot increase the total domination number. Further we show it can decrease the total domination number by at most 2. A graph is total domination dot-stable if dotting any pair of adjacent vertices leaves the total domination number unchanged. We characterize the total domination dot-stable graphs and give a sharp upper bound on their total domination number. We also characterize the graphs attaining this bound.  相似文献

A set S of vertices in a graph G is a total dominating set if every vertex of G is adjacent to some vertex in S. The minimum cardinality of a total dominating set of G is the total domination number of G. A graph is total domination vertex removal stable if the removal of an arbitrary vertex leaves the total domination number unchanged. On the other hand, a graph is total domination vertex removal changing if the removal of an arbitrary vertex changes the total domination number. In this paper, we study total domination vertex removal changing and stable graphs.  相似文献

A secure dominating set X of a graph G is a dominating set with the property that each vertex uVGX is adjacent to a vertex vX such that (X−{v})∪{u} is dominating. The minimum cardinality of such a set is called the secure domination number, denoted by γs(G). We are interested in the effect of edge removal on γs(G), and characterize γs-ER-critical graphs, i.e. graphs for which γs(Ge)>γs(G) for any edge e of G, bipartite γs-ER-critical graphs and γs-ER-critical trees.  相似文献

A Roman domination function on a graph G=(V(G),E(G)) is a function f:V(G)→{0,1,2} satisfying the condition that every vertex u for which f(u)=0 is adjacent to at least one vertex v for which f(v)=2. The weight of a Roman dominating function is the value f(V(G))=∑uV(G)f(u). The minimum weight of a Roman dominating function on a graph G is called the Roman domination number of G. Cockayne et al. [E. J. Cockayne et al. Roman domination in graphs, Discrete Mathematics 278 (2004) 11-22] showed that γ(G)≤γR(G)≤2γ(G) and defined a graph G to be Roman if γR(G)=2γ(G). In this article, the authors gave several classes of Roman graphs: P3k,P3k+2,C3k,C3k+2 for k≥1, Km,n for min{m,n}≠2, and any graph G with γ(G)=1; In this paper, we research on regular Roman graphs and prove that: (1) the circulant graphs and , n⁄≡1 (mod (2k+1)), (n≠2k) are Roman graphs, (2) the generalized Petersen graphs P(n,2k+1)( (mod 4) and ), P(n,1) (n⁄≡2 (mod 4)), P(n,3) ( (mod 4)) and P(11,3) are Roman graphs, and (3) the Cartesian product graphs are Roman graphs.  相似文献

A graph is called γ-critical if the removal of any vertex from the graph decreases the domination number, while a graph with no isolated vertex is γt-critical if the removal of any vertex that is not adjacent to a vertex of degree 1 decreases the total domination number. A γt-critical graph that has total domination number k, is called k-γt-critical. In this paper, we introduce a class of k-γt-critical graphs of high connectivity for each integer k≥3. In particular, we provide a partial answer to the question “Which graphs are γ-critical and γt-critical or one but not the other?” posed in a recent work [W. Goddard, T.W. Haynes, M.A. Henning, L.C. van der Merwe, The diameter of total domination vertex critical graphs, Discrete Math. 286 (2004) 255-261].  相似文献

A book embedding of a graph $G$ consists of placing the vertices of $G$ on a spine and assigning edges of the graph to pages so that edges in the same page do not cross each other. The page number is a measure of the quality of a book embedding which is the minimum number of pages in which the graph $G$ can be embedded. In this paper, the authors discuss the embedding of the generalized Petersen graph and determine that the page number of the generalized Petersen graph is three in some situations, which is best possible.  相似文献
