Employment ofE 0np modes of cylindrical cavity resonator for measurement of electrodynamical parameters of dielectric pipe-shaped materials in millimeter wavelength band is suggested. Dielectric permittivity and conductivity of a sample can be found by measuring the frequency shift and theQ-factor change of the resonator.Method of mode basis is used for the calculation of sample permittivity and conductivity . Measurements were carried out at 8mm wavelength and related calculations have demonstrated use and possibilities of the method in studying the dielectric properties of samples of cylindrical and other forms.  相似文献

A method is suggested for the derivation of finite-size corrections in the thermodynamic functions of systems with pair interaction potential decaying at large distancesr asr d , whered is the space dimensionality and>0. It allows for a unified treatment of short-range (=2) and long-range (<2) interaction. The asymptotic analysis is illustrated by the mean spherical model of general geometryL d–d× d subject to periodic boundary conditions. The Fisher-Privman equation of state is generalized to arbitrary real values ofd, 0d. It is shown that the-expansion may be used to study the breakdown of standard finite-size scaling at the borderline dimensionalities.  相似文献

The stability conditions for an electric current flowing through a chain consisting of nonlinear inertial resistors and capacitors have been investigated. The necessary conditions for the field dependent conductivity and the inertia of the resistors and applied voltage leading to undamped oscillations in the chain have been derived. For the threshold voltage this condition has the form 0+V 0(/V) v0 cos I T =0, similar to that obtained in an earlier work of one of the authors from thermodynamical considerations.Computer simulation gives results for the frequency and threshold conditions in good agreement with approximate analytical solutions.  相似文献

The non-linear distribution of lattice strain 310vs sin2 observed on the surface of a polished steel specimen can be interpreted by tri-axial stress state with surface components of stress tensor 11(0)= 22(0) and gradientsg 11= 11/T, g 33= 33/T. We present a consistent set of commutation relations (C.R.) for a quantum system immersed in a classical gravitational field. The gravity field is described by metric tensorg ik (x) andg 00(x) with coordinate gaugeg i0=0. The Hamiltonian of the system is found to be a linear function of [–g 00(x)]1/2. Its properties we define by C.R. avoiding explicit expression in terms of fields, as well as its splitting into free and interaction parts. In this way a consistent set of C.R., which are equally simple for a flat and curvilinear space, can be established. To stress the main idea of our approach, we consider the simple but still nontrivial example of a scalar electrodynamics immersed in a gravity field. The electromagnetic current operator we define by its C.R. and not explicitly. An interesting feature of this approach is that the Poisson equation follows from the consistency of the C.R. The C.R. for the energy and momentum operators of the system in a gravity field are established which generalize the usual Poincare group generators C.R. For example, we find (i/hc 2)[H (x) ,H (x) ]=P , whereH (x) is the Hamiltonian of the system, which is a linear functional of (x)[–g 00(x)]1/2 andP s(x) represents the momentum-density operator [averaged with the classical functions(x)].  相似文献

Within the ferromagneticq-state Potts model we discuss the wetting of the interface between two ordered phasesa andb by the disordered phasef at the transition temperature. In two or more dimensions and forq large we establish the validity of the Antonov's rule, ab = af + fb , where denotes the surface tension between the considered phases. The spin relations of neutrino-nucleon interaction with the formation of a muonv(V) N N are investigated within the framework of the two-component and four-component theories of two neutrinos under the assumption of a point neutrino. The difference between the predictions of the two theories is identified. It is shown that the four-component theory of two neutrinos, unlike the two-component theory, accommodates the V + A variant of interaction between the muon current (v) and the barion current.The authors are grateful to Prof. A. The properties of Pulsed-Laser-Deposited Diamond-Like Carbon (PLD DLC) films are studied as functions of the power density and the wavelength of the laser beam, and the incident angle of the beam relative to the normal of the target surface. All the films have a similar structure consisting of graphite particulates embedded in a continuous matrix, so the macroscopic performance of the films is determined by the overall contributions of the particulates and the matrix. The use of higher, shorter, or larger leads to an enhancement of the diamond-like characteristics and a simultaneous increase of the particulate density. These two effects give opposite contributions to the electrical conductivity R, leading to the following results. (i) R drops with increasing in the low range (region I) due to the stronger diamond-like nature of the matrix, but increases sharply after has exceeded a threshold min as a result of the rapid increase in particulate density. (ii) In region I, the use of shorter or larger leads to a more diamond-like matrix, and this overwhelms the degradation effect caused by the slight increase in particulate density. The samples thus become more insulating. In the high region (region II), however, the use of shorter or larger gives rise to higher particulate density, thereby increasing the electrical conductivity.  相似文献

Pseudotwistors     
We deal with the Hermitian Hurwitz pairs of signature (, s), + s = 5 + 4, | + 1 – s| = 2 + 4m;, m = 0, 1,.... We introduce the Hurwitz twistors for signature (3, 2) and its dual (1, 4) and we indicate the relationship between Hurwitz and Penrose twistors. The signatures (1, 8) and (7, 6) give rise to pseudotwistors and bitwistors, respectively. For pseudotwistors, we prove a counterpart of the Penrose theorem in the local version, on real analytic solutions of the related spinor equations versus harmonic forms, and in the semiglobal version, on holomorphic solutions of those equations versus Dolbeault cohomology groups. We prove an atomization theorem: There exist complex structures on isometric embeddings for the Hermitian Hurwitz pairs so that the embeddings are real parts of holomorphic mappings.  相似文献

Using Van Vleck's modification of the Heisenberg theory of ferro-magnetism for substances with arbitrary spin per atom, a generalization of the theory is given for the case of ferrimagnetics, anti-ferromagnetics and thin films with an arbitrary number of sub-lattices and with arbitrary spin per atom. The exchange part of the energy operator is formulated by means of rotated spin operators. The theory contains the quantum-mechanical generalization of non-quantum theories given by Néel and later generalized by Yafet and Kittel. It also contains the theory of thin films proposed recently by the author. The magnetization laws are completely analogous to the relations derived from the theory of molecular fields. The constants of the molecular fields are interpreted by means of exchange integrals. For the special case of spin S=1/2the theory agrees with the results of the work of Vlasov and Imuchametov for ferrimagnetics and anti-ferromagnetics and with the author's for thin films.

An expression for the heat conductivity xx is derived in the effective medium approximation. Mott type formulas are obtained for xx and the Peltier coefficient xx . Using percolation theory in a three-dimensional system the Wiedemann-Franz ratio was found to depend on the temperature like . The Mott type formulas were evaluated in a similar way for a two-dimensional system in the quantum Hall regime within the high-field percolation model. In contrast to previous calculations of the high field hopping conductivity xx , the results are fully consistent with the experimental data on xx and the density of states at the Fermi level. Finally, xx is estimated which together with xx and xy =ie 2/h(i=0,1,2,...), determines both thermopower coefficients xx and xy .Dedicated to Professor W. We investigate correlation inequalities for Ising ferromagnets with continuous spins, giving a simple unified derivation of inequalities of Griffiths, Ginibre, Percus, Lebowitz, and Ellis and Monroe. The single-spin measure and Hamiltonian for which an inequality may be proved become more restricted as the inequality becomes more complex. However, all results hold for a model with ferromagnetic pair interactions, positive (nonuniform) external field, and single-spin measure eitherv() = [1/(l + 1)] x f=0/l (–l +2j +) (spinl/2) ordv() = exp [–P()]d, whereP is an even polynomial all of whose coefficients must be positive except the quadratic, which is arbitrary. The Lebowitz correlation inequality is a corollary of the Ellis-Monroe inequality. As an application, we generalize the method of van Beijeren to establish a sharp phase interface at low temperature in nearest neighbor ferromagnets of at least three dimensions with arbitrary (symmetric) single-spin measure.Supported in part by the National Science Foundation under Grants MPS 73-05037 and MPS 75-20638. The mean spherical model with an arbitrary interaction potential, the Fourier transform of which has a long-wavelength exponent , 0<2, is considered under periodic boundary conditions and fully finite geometry ind dimensions, when <d<2. A new form of the finite-size scaling equation for the spherical field in the critical region is derived, which relates the temperature shift to Madelung-type lattice constants. The paper explains the theory of modelling electrostatic fields by a resistance network. The conditions, which the resistance network must satisfy, are derived and the question of modelling electrodes of different shapes is solved. The finished network and the results obtained on it when modelling a jet for a linear h-f accelerator of electrons are described. Particular attention is paid to the influence of a space charge, the modelling of which is an advantage of this method.

The effective stimulated emission cross-section spectra, em,eff(), the stimulated emission cross-section spectra, em(), and the excited-state absorption cross-section spectra, ex()=em()–em,eff(), of the conjugated polymers poly(2,5-dioctadecyloxy-paraphenylene-ethynylene-co-2,5-thienyl) (OPT) and poly(2,5-dioctadecyloxy-paraphenylene-ethynylene-co-2,5-pyridinyl) (OPP) in tetrahydrofuran are determined in the fluorescence region. em,eff() determined by a fluorescence amplification technique is found to be small compared to em() indicating that ex() is nearly as large as em(). The laser excitation to the wide inhomogeneously broadened S1-absorption band leads to the formation of spectrally structured inhomogeneously broadened lattice relaxed exciton conformations extending on average over two monomer units which are thought to be responsible for upper-to-lower-state stimulated emission and lower-to-upper-state (excited-state) absorption.  相似文献

The dc and thermal conductivities of five different compositions of the chalcogenide glass system Se75Ge25–x Sb x have been studied in a temperature range below T g. The dc conductivity results indicate that each composition has a single activation energy in the considered temperature range. The coefficient of thermal conductivity increased linearly with temperature below T g for the compositions investigated. The increase of Sb content in the chalcogenide glass system leads to an increased coefficient of electrical conductivity , an increased coefficient of thermal conductivity , and to a decreased activation energy E and pre-exponential factor 0. The observed compositional dependencies of and E have been correlated with the increase of weak bond density and the decrease of covalent bond density in the structure of the compositions investigated with increasing Sb content at the expense of Ge content. The decrease in 0 and the increase in has been, respectively, correlated with the decrease in mobility and the increase in phonon velocity.  相似文献

We investigate the effective conductivity * of a quasiperiodic medium in d and the discontinuous dependence, found in ref. 1, of * on the wavelengths of the system. It was shown there, for example, that the effective conductivity *(k) for a layered medium with a one-dimensional local conductivity k (x)=A+cosx+coskx, A>2, is discontinuous ink. An explicit class of higherdimensional examples which exhibit the discontinuity is constructed here. The conductivity *(k, L) of a sample of lengthL in one dimension asL is also analyzed and shown to have a plateau structure for any irrationalk well approximated by rationals.  相似文献
