The authors consider a mathematical model for the coupled atmosphere-ocean system, namely, the coupled quasigeostrophic-flow-energy-balance model. This model consists of the large-scale quasigeostrophic oceanic flow model and the transport equation for oceanic temperature, coupled with an atmospheric energy-balance model. After reformulating this coupled model as a random dynamical system (cocycle property), it is shown that the coupled quasigeostrophic-energy balance fluid system has a random attractor, and under further conditions on the physical data and the covariance of the noise, the system is ergodic, namely, for any observable of the coupled atmosphere-ocean flows, its time average approximates the statistical ensemble average, as long as the time interval is sufficiently long. __________ Translated from Fundamentalnaya i Prikladnaya Matematika, Vol. 12, No. 6, pp. 67–84, 2006.  相似文献

Multi-displacement continuum modelling of a two-dimensional (2D) elastic metamaterials plate with periodically arranged local resonator over the surface of the plate is studied in this paper. The additional displacement fields are introduced to model the response of the local resonators. The continuous conditions between the adjacent unit-cells are used to reflect the periodicity of the microstructured continuum and resultantly turned into the constraint conditions between the additional displacement field and the other continuous field. The dispersion features of the multiple-displacement coupled wave propagating along the high symmetrical direction and any oblique direction are both studied numerically. It is found that the multi-displacement coupled waves can be divided into the coupled longitudinal wave and the coupled transversal wave when propagating along the highly symmetric direction but cannot be divided into the coupled longitudinal wave and the coupled transversal wave when propagating along any oblique direction. The effects of boundary conditions on the dispersion of acoustic and optical branches of coupled waves are discussed in detail. At last, the influences of the parameters of resonator on the dispersion feature of the multi-displacement coupled waves are investigated numerically.  相似文献

This paper investigates the synchronization of two linearly coupled unified chaotic systems and two linearly coupled Lorenz systems. Some sufficient conditions for synchronization are attained through rigorous mathematical theory. Compared with the results in the reference [Chaos, Solitons & Fractals 2002;14:529], the sufficient condition for the synchronization of two linearly coupled Lorenz systems is simpler and less conservative. The modified decomposition method has been implemented for solving a coupled Klein–Gordon–Schrödinger equation. We consider a system of coupled Klein–Gordon–Schrödinger equation with appropriate initial values using the modified decomposition method. The method does not need linearization, weak nonlinearity assumptions or perturbation theory. We discuss dynamical locality in two locally covariant quantum field theories: the nonminimally coupled scalar field and the enlarged algebra of Wick polynomials. We calculate the relative Cauchy evolution of the enlarged algebra, before demonstrating that dynamical locality holds in the nonminimally coupled scalar field theory. We also establish dynamical locality in the enlarged algebra for the minimally coupled massive case and the conformally coupled massive case.  相似文献

This paper applied the modified variational iteration method to the nonlinear coupled partial differential equations via the generalized nonlinear Hirota Satsuma coupled KdV equations, the nonlinear coupled Kortewge–de Vries KdV equations and the nonlinear shallow water equations together with the initial conditions. The proposed modification is made by introducing Adomian’s polynomials in the correct functional. The suggested algorithm is quite efficient and is practically well suited for use in such problems. The proposed iterative scheme finds the solution without any discritization, liberalization, perturbation, or restrictive assumptions.  相似文献

The problem of simultaneous propagation of two types of electromagnetic waves (TE and TM) in a plane dielectric waveguide filled with a nonlinear medium is considered. These polarized waves have different frequencies and different propagation constants. The physical problem is reduced to a nonlinear two-parameter transmission eigenvalue problem for Maxwell’s equations in a layer. The coupled eigenvalues are coupled propagation constants. A theorem on the existence and localization of coupled eigenvalues corresponding to coupled polarized electromagnetic waves is proved.  相似文献

The effect of micro-inertia in the propagation of waves in micropolar thermoelastic materials with voids has been investigated. Elastic waves are reflected due to incident coupled longitudinal and coupled shear waves from a plane free boundary of micropolar thermoelastic materials with voids. The amplitude ratios corresponding to the reflected coupled longitudinal and coupled shear waves are derived by using appropriate boundary conditions. Energy partition in the free surface has been presented. The amplitude and energy ratios of the reflected waves are also computed numerically for a particular model.  相似文献

The Lax integrability of the coupled KdV equations derived from two-layer fluids [S.Y. Lou, B. Tong, H.C. Hu, X.Y. Tang, Coupled KdV equations derived from two-layer fluids, J. Phys. A: Math. Gen. 39 (2006) 513-527] is investigated by means of prolongation technique. As a result, the Lax pairs of some Painlevé integrable coupled KdV equations and several new coupled KdV equations are obtained. Some doubly periodic (Jacobi elliptic function) solutions of the coupled Schrödinger–Boussinesq (KdV) equations are presented in closed form. Our approach is to introduce an auxiliary ordinary differential equation and use its Jacobi elliptic function solution to construct doubly periodic solutions of the coupled equations. In this paper, we apply the boundary integral method to the linearized rotating Navier-Stokes equations in exterior domain. Introducing some open ball which decomposes the exterior domain into a finite domain and an infinite domain, we obtain a coupled problem by the linearized rotating Navier-Stokes equations in finite domain and a boundary integral equation without using the artificial boundary condition. For the coupled problem, we show the existence and uniqueness of solution. Finally, we study the finite element approximation for the coupled problem and obtain the error estimate between the solution of the coupled problem and its approximation solution.  相似文献

To explain the oscillatory nature of E1 Nino/Southern Oscillation (ENSO), many ENSO theories emphasize the free oceanic equatorial waves propagating/reflecting within the Pacific Ocean, or the discharge/recharge of Pacific-basin-averaged ocean heat content. ENSO signals in the Indian and Atlantic oceans are often considered as remote response to the Pacific SST anomaly through atmospheric teleconnections. This study investigates the ENSO life cycle near the equator using long-term observational datasets. Space-time spectral analysis is used to identify and isolate the dominant interannual oceanic and atmospheric wave modes associated with ENSO. Nino3 SST anomaly is utilized as the ENSO index, and lag-correlation/regression are used to construct the composite ENSO life cycle. The propagation, structure and feedback mechanisms of the dominant wave modes are studied in detail. The results show that the dominant oceanic equatorial wave modes associated with ENSO are not free waves, but are two ocean-atmosphere coupled waves including a coupled Kelvin wave and waves are not confined only to the Pacific a coupled equatorial Rossby (ER) wave. These Ocean, but are of planetary scale with zonal wavenumbers 1-2, and propagate all the way around the equator in more than three years, leading to the longer than 3-year period of ENSO. When passing the continents, they become uncoupled atmospheric waves. The coupled Kelvin wave has larger variance than the coupled ER wave, making the total signals dominated by eastward propagation. Surface zonal wind stress (x) acts to slow down the waves. The two coupled waves interact with each other through boundary reflection and superposition, and they also interact with an off-equatorial Rossby wave in north Pacific along 15N through boundary reflection and wind stress forcing. The precipitation anomalies of the two coupled waves meet in the eastern Pacific shortly after the SST maximum of ENSO and excite a dry atmospheric Kelvin wave which quickly circles the whole equator and leads to a zonally symmetric signal of troposphere temperature. ENSO signals in the Indian and Atlantic oceans are associated with the two coupled waves as well as the fast atmospheric Kelvin wave. The discharge/recharge of Pacific-basin-averaged ocean heat content is also contributed by the two coupled waves. The above results suggest the presence of an alternative coupled wave oscillator mechanism for the oscillatory nature of ENSO.  相似文献

This contribution is concerned with a new, unified finite element approach to the fully coupled problem of cardiac electromechanics. In contrast to the existing numerical approaches suggested in the literature; to the best of our knowledge, for the first time, we propose a fully implicit, purely finite-element-based approach to the coupled problem. The system of coupled algebraic equations obtained by simultaneous linearization of non-linear weighted residual terms is solved monolithically. The put forward modular algorithmic framework leads to an unconditionally stable and geometrically flexible structure that can readily be extended towards complex ionic models of cardiac electrophysiology. Recent attempts to solve rock mechanics problems using the numerical manifold method (NMM) have been regarded as fruitful. In this paper, a coupled hydro-mechanical (HM) model is incorporated into the enriched NMM to simulate fluid driven fracturing in rocks. In this HM model, a “cubic law” is employed to model fluid flow through fractures. Several benchmark problems are investigated to verify the coupled HM model. The simulation results agree well with the analytical and experimental results, indicating that the coupled HM model is able to simulate the hydraulic fracturing process reliably and correctly.  相似文献

A reaction–diffusion model describing a system of coupled oscillators is constructed and investigated. The oscillators in this study are chemical oscillators that represent an oscillatory heterogeneous catalytic reaction in a granular catalyst layer. The oscillators are arranged serially in the reagent stream and are coupled through the gaseous phase. The dynamic behavior of the system is investigated as a function of the main external parameter — the partial pressure of one of the reagents in the gaseous phase. Existence regions of regular and chaotic oscillations are identified. Synchronization conditions are established for the oscillations in such a chain of coupled chemical oscillators.  相似文献
