We have studied the intensity correlations between two orthogonally linearly polarized components of a laser field propagating through a resonant atomic medium. These experiments have been performed in a rubidium atomic vapor. We observe that the correlations between the orthogonally polarized components of the laser beam are maximal in the absence of a magnetic field. The magnitude of the correlations depends on the applied magnetic field, and the magnitude first decreases and then increases with increasing magnetic field. Minimal correlations and maximal rotation angles are observed at the same magnetic fields. The width of the correlation function is directly proportional to the excited state lifetime and inversely proportional to the Rabi frequency of laser field.  相似文献

We examine the theory of potential scattering of Rydberg atoms in a microwave field. The model of a three-level atom is employed to calculate the radiative force emerging in the resonant coherent interaction with the microwave field for the case of a two-photon resonance and high intensities, using the method of quasienergies of the system consisting of the atom and the field. We determine the probabilities of Landau-Zener transitions in the spatial regions where under two-photon resonance conditions the quasienergies of the atoms approach one another by a small quantity. We also study the dynamics of the variation of the spatial profile of a beam of Rydberg atoms caused by resonant scattering. Finally, we give the results of the first experimental observation of the variation of the transverse beam profile when Rydberg atoms pass through a nonuniform microwave field formed in a rectangular waveguide and in resonance with the two-photon 36P–37P transition. We investigate a coherently prepared cold medium for efficient single-photon inelastic two-wave mixing (ITWM), maximum Fock state entanglement and single photon self-interference. We show the possibility of generating maximally entangled single-photon state, and near 100% conversion efficiency for generating a frequency shifted TWM photon by proper choice of medium length and concentration. In addition, we demonstrate a new type of transparency effect produced by an efficient single photon self-interference, a transparency effect that is very different from the conventional electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) process.  相似文献

In Lehmberg's approach, we consider the resonance fluorescence spectrum of two radiatively interacting atoms. In the strong field limit we have obtained analytical solutions for the spectrum of the symmetric and antisymmetric modes without decoupling approximation. Our solutions are valid for all values of the distance r12 separating the atoms. The spectrum of the symmetric modes contains additional sidebands in 2Ω (Ω is the Rabi frequency) with amplitude dependent on (a/Ω)2, where a is a parameter dependent on r12. The antisymmetric part of the spectrum has no additional sidebands in 2Ω. For small distances r12 (a=1) our results for the symmetric modes are identical with those of Agarwal et al. apart from the so-called scaling factor. For large distances r12 (a=0) the spectra of the symmetric and antisymmetric modes are identical with the well-known one-atom spectrum.  相似文献

A new scheme of the influence of quantum interference on the spontaneous emission in a coherently driven three-level medium is presented in this paper. The results are the same with that discussed by [S.-Y. Zhu, L.M. Narducci, M.O. Scully, Phys. Rev. 以相干诱导光子带隙结构为工作基础,提出了一种可对两个弱光信号的传播路径同时进行动态调控的新型全光路由控制方案。利用描述光波在空间周期介质中相干散射的传输矩阵理论,结合描述单频激光与多能级原子共振相互作用的密度矩阵方程,计算了作为控制媒介的相干驱动超冷原子系综的稳态反射光谱和稳态透射光谱。结果表明,通过改变两个较强相干激光的空间模式、强度和频率等参数,可在探测跃迁共振频率附近建立反射率约为95%或者透射率约为95%的两个特殊频带。对这样的相干诱导高反射带和高透射带进行了实时动态调控,可根据需要引导两个不同频率的弱光信号进入指定的网络通道。该方案很好地满足了在量子信息处理领域对弱光信号进行全光路由控制时的低损耗和低形变要求。  相似文献

In this Letter we propose an alternative scheme to generate a supersinglet state of three three-level atoms via a single-mode of a cavity QED based on the two-photon transitions described by the ‘full microscopical Hamiltonian approach’. In it, three three-level atoms prepared in suitable initial states are sequentially sent through the cavity originally prepared in its vacuum state. After an appropriate choice of the atom-cavity interaction times plus a field detection the state that describes the whole atom-field system is projected in the desired supersinglet state. The fidelity and success probability of the state as well as the practical feasibility of the scheme are discussed.  相似文献
