The purpose of this study is the construction of interpolation formulas for the dependence of Maxwell viscosity, a quantity which is the reciprocal of shear-strain relaxation time , on shear-strain intensity and temperature for several metals: iron, aluminum, copper, and lead. This function was interpolated in various temperature and deformation velocity ranges in accordance with available experimental data for iron (0 107 sec–1, 200 ° T 1500 °); aluminum (0 107 sec–1, 300 ° T 900 °); copper (0 105 sec–1, 300 ° T 1300 °); lead (0 106 sec–1, 90 ° T 400 °); temperatures in °K.Translated from Zhurnal Prikladnoi Mekhaniki i Tekhnicheskoi Fiziki, No. 4, pp. 114–118, July–August, 1974.  相似文献

The asymptotic nature of the elastic field is studied at the point of transition from frictional contact to frictionless contact between two different elastic bodies. The nature depends on the direction of slip, and the singular stress field appears when the body with smaller /(–1) (: the shear modulus, =3–4, : Poisson's ratio) slips towards the region of frictional contact, while no singularities appear when the direction of slip is opposite. The order of the singularity is smaller than 1/2 regardless of the level of friction.  相似文献

Synchronization of oscillations of thin elastic plates that are walls of a gasfilled channel is considered. The gas motion is described by a system of Navier–Stokes equations, which is solved using the secondorder MacCormack method with time splitting. The motion of the channel walls is described by a system of geometrically nonlinear dynamic equations of the theory of this plates, which is solved by the finitedifference method. Kinematic and dynamic contact conditions are imposed at the interface between the media. A numerical experiment is performed to determine typical dynamic regimes and study the transition of the aeroelastic system to inphase oscillations.  相似文献

We give the results of a calculation by the Monte Carlo method of the coefficient of resistance and the field of flow past a plate placed perpendicular to a stream of rarefied gas at Mach numbers M = 2–20 and Reynolds numbers Re027. The calculations were carried out for two forms of the law governing the variation of the coefficient of viscosity as a function of temperature (T, T). The behavior of supersonic mixing layers under three conditions has been examined by schlieren photography and laser Doppler velocimetry. In the schlieren photographs, some large-scale, repetitive patterns were observed within the mixing layer; however, these structures do not appear to dominate the mixing layer character under the present flow conditions. It was found that higher levels of secondary freestream turbulence did not increase the peak turbulence intensity observed within the mixing layer, but slightly increased the growth rate. Higher levels of freestream turbulence also reduced the axial distance required for development of the mean velocity. At higher convective Mach numbers, the mixing layer growth rate was found to be smaller than that of an incompressible mixing layer at the same velocity and freestream density ratio. Shearing stresses in shafts with deep longitudinal grooves
Summary The stress functions(, y) of shafts with deep longitudinal grooves may be represented by(, y) =F(x, y) –(, y) whereF(x, y) is the stress function of a cylindrical shaft without grooves and(, y) denotes the potential function of the source-sink system. It is shown that the shearing stresses in rotors of screw-compressors may be obtained in this way.

The behavior of the neutral stability curves is investigated for various values of the particle relaxation time and mass concentration 0 100 and 0 f 0.1. It is shown that as increases from zero the flow is at first destabilized and then at >6 becomes stable, while at >40 the stabilizing effect of the dispersed phase grows weaker. The complete Navier-Stokes equations for a compressible viscous perfect heat conducting gas have been used in a numerical investigation of laminar separation in the case of supersymmetric axisymmetric flow past cylinders with a conical nose and a spike at the front of finite thickness. The flow structure has been studied in its dependence on the length of the spike and the half-angle of the conical tip. For the considered free-stream parameters (2 M 6, 100 Re 500) and spike lengths, which do not exceed the diameter of the cylinder, the existence of steady flow regimes has been established and it has been shown that the spike in front of the body reduces its total drag and the heat flux to its surface.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 2, pp. 126–131, March–April, 1984.  相似文献

This paper presents a new formulation for the laminar free convection from an arbitrarily inclined isothermal plate to fluids of any Prandtl number between 0.001 and infinity. A novel inclination parameter is proposed such that all cases of the horizontal, inclined and vertical plates can be described by a single set of transformed equations. Moreover, the self-similar equations for the limiting cases of the horizontal and vertical plates are recovered from the transformed equations by setting=0 and=1, respectively. Heated upward-facing plates with positive and negative inclination angles are investigated. A very accurate correlation equation of the local Nusselt number is developed for arbitrary inclination angle and for 0.001 Pr .
Wärmeübertragung bei freier Konvektion an einer isothermen Platte mit beliebiger Neigung
Zusammenfasssung Diese Untersuchung stellt eine neue Formulierung der laminaren freien Konvektion von Flüssigkeiten mit einer Prandtl-Zahl zwischen 0,001 und unendlich an einer beliebig schräggestellten isothermen Platte dar. Ein neuer Neigungsparameter wird eingeführt, so daß alle Fälle der horizontalen, geneigten oder vertikalen Platte von einem einzigen Satz transformierter Gleichungen beschrieben werden können. Die unabhängigen Gleichungen für die beiden Fälle der horizontalen and vertikalen Platte wurden für=0 und=1 aus den transformierten Gleichungen wieder abgeleitet. Es wurden erwärmte aufwärtsgerichtete Platten mit positiven und negativen Neigungswinkeln untersucht. Eine sehr genaue Gleichung wurde für die lokale Nusselt-Zahl bei beliebigen Neigungswinkeln und für 0,001 Pr entwickelt.

A cold gas is injected from a slot into a free stream of hot gas. In a simple model this leads to a two-fluid free boundary problem with the jump relation |u-|2–|u+|2 = ( constant) on the free boundary {u=0}, where u is the stream function. We prove that for any (–1, ) there exists a unique solution (Q, u) where Q is the flux of the injected fluid. Various properties of the solution u and of the free boundary are established.  相似文献

This paper studies the slow flow of powders. It is argued that since powders can flow like liquids, there must be equations similar to those of liquids. The phenomenon of a variable density, dilatancy, is described by an analogue of temperature called the compactivity X. Whereas, in thermal physicsT = E/S, powders are controlled byX = V/S. The equations for, v, T of a liquid are replaced by, v, X. An analogy for free energy is described, and the solution to some simple problems of packing and mixing are offered. Integral equation method and photoelastic experiment are used for the stress analysis of an axial compressive ellipsoid. Let the concentrated forces and the centers of compression, with symmetrical unknown intensive functions X1(c)=X1(–c) and X2(c)=X2(–c) respectively, be distributed symmetrically to =0 plane along the axis z(=–c) in [a,) and [–a,–) of the elastic space, in addition to a pair of equal and opposite axial forces acting on z=a and z=–a. We can reduce the problem of an axial compressive ellipsoid to two coupled Fredholm integral equations of the first kind. Furthermore, numerical calculation is then made. Two photo-elastic models of ellipsoid were analysed by Freezing and Cutting method, and the results, in which 2 is quite nearly to those obtained by integral equation method, had been used in the analysis of the data of compressive rock specimens.  相似文献

Summary The linear time-dependent behaviour of elasticoviscous liquids may be determined by conventional rheometers, or by any one of a number of new rheometers which have recently appeared in which the test fluid is contained between two surfaces which rotate with the same angular velocity about axes which are not coincident. (The Orthogonal, Balance and Eccentric-Cylinder rheometers are perhaps the most well known examples of such instruments at the present time.) In this communication, we consider the more general situation in the new rheometers in which the angular velocities of the two surfaces are different.The first part of the paper is concerned with experimental results from the Eccentric-Cylinder Rheometer, with particular reference to the case in which the speeds of the two members are almost the same. The results throw light on the important problem of lag brought about by bearing friction.The main body of work concerns a study of the potential use of the combined steady and oscillatory shear type of flow generated when the instrument members are driven at different speeds. The Balance rheometer is concluded to be of very little use in this connection, and most of the attention is confined to the nearly-viscometric flows generated in the Orthogonal and Eccentric-Cylinder rheometers. It is concluded that the analysis for the Orthogonal Rheometer is too complicated to have any predictive value, but that generalized Eccentric-Cylinder flow may be useful in the context of model assessment.With 4 figures  相似文献

The problem of flow of slightly compressible fluids through a bounded confined fracture-pore medium is solved and studied thoroughly in this paper. Some essential natures of flow of elastic liquids through a medium with double porosity under the condition of neglecting the flow in matrix system were revealed and clarified further. The method of estimating all parameters commonly interested in a bounded confined fracture-pore medium reservoir through a series of flow tests in wells by use of the solution obtained is presented.  相似文献

The article discusses transverse vibrations of finite amplitude in an electron-ion ring. Far from the region of linear resonances, an equation is obtained for slowly varying amplitudes, and the conditions are found for the excitation of instability of the negative pressure type. The two-dimensional axisymmetric problem of the interaction between smallscale spherical shock waves initiated by a laser explosion and an absolutely rigid surface in the presence of a layer of hot gas is numerically investigated. A number of effects previously observed in physical and numerical experiments [5–8] are confirmed, in particular: the distortion of the reflected shock front and its acceleration on passage through the hot central zone of the laser explosion (lens effect), the strong deformation of this zone, and the formation of a precursor on the surface ahead of the shock wave interacting with the thermal layer. We consider stochastic differential equations in d-dimensional Euclidean space driven by an m-dimensional Wiener process, determined by the drift vector field f0 and the diffusion vector fields f1,...,fm, and investigate the existence of global random attractors for the associated flows . For this purpose is decomposed into a stationary diffeomorphism given by the stochastic differential equation on the space of smooth flows on Rd driven by m independent stationary Ornstein Uhlenbeck processes z1,...,zm and the vector fields f1,...,fm, and a flow generated by the nonautonomous ordinary differential equation given by the vector field (t/x)–1[f0(t)+ i=1 1 fi(t)z t i ]. In this setting, attractors of are canonically related with attractors of . For , the problem of existence of attractors is then considered as a perturbation problem. Conditions on the vector fields are derived under which a Lyapunov function for the deterministic differential equation determined by the vector field f0 is still a Lyapunov function for , yielding an attractor this way. The possibility of impulsive (using a chemical explosive) gas transport at high initial pressure from a secondary into a primary vessel in times 100t175sec has been experimentally demonstrated. In the first 90sec the proposed device is insensitive to the high internal gas pressure. Whent90sec the strength properties of its elements must be taken into account. By this time the amount of gas in the primary vessel has increased by approximately 43% relative to the initial amount.
