Using Riordan arrays, we introduce a generalized Delannoy matrix by weighted Delannoy numbers. It turns out that Delannoy matrix, Pascal matrix, and Fibonacci matrix are all special cases of the generalized Delannoy matrices, meanwhile Schröder matrix and Catalan matrix also arise in involving inverses of the generalized Delannoy matrices. These connections are the focus of our paper. The half of generalized Delannoy matrix is also considered. In addition, we obtain a combinatorial interpretation for the generalized Fibonacci numbers.  相似文献

We give recurrence relations for any family of generalized Appell polynomials unifying so some known recurrences for many classical sequences of polynomials. Our main tool to get our goal is the Riordan group. We use the product of Riordan matrices to interpret some relationships between different polynomial families. Moreover using the Hadamard product of series we get a general recurrence relation for the polynomial sequences associated to the so called generalized umbral calculus.  相似文献

A relationship between a pair of Laurent series and Riordan arrays is formulated. In addition, a type of generalized Sheffer groups is defined by using Riordan arrays with respect to power series with non-zero coefficients. The isomorphism between a generalized Sheffer group and the group of the Riordan arrays associated with Laurent series is established. Furthermore, Appell, associated, Bell, and hitting-time subgroups of the groups are defined and discussed. A relationship between the generalized Sheffer groups with respect to different type of power series is presented. The equivalence of the defined Riordan array pairs and generalized Stirling number pairs is given. A type of inverse relations of various series is constructed by using pairs of Riordan arrays. Finally, several applications involving various arrays, polynomial sequences, special formulas and identities are also presented as illustrative examples.  相似文献

We develop polynomials in zC for which some generalized harmonic numbers are special cases at z=0. By using the Riordan array method, we explore interesting relationships between these polynomials, the generalized Stirling polynomials, the Bernoulli polynomials, the Cauchy polynomials and the Nörlund polynomials.  相似文献

We study many properties of Cauchy numbers in terms of generating functions and Riordan arrays and find several new identities relating these numbers with Stirling, Bernoulli and harmonic numbers. We also reconsider the Laplace summation formula showing some applications involving the Cauchy numbers.  相似文献

We define the Sheffer group of all Sheffer-type polynomials and prove the isomorphism between the Sheffer group and the Riordan group. An equivalence of the Riordan array pair and generalized Stirling number pair is also presented. Finally, we discuss a higher dimensional extension of Riordan array pairs.  相似文献

By using the theory of Riordan arrays, we establish four pairs of general r-Stirling number identities, which reduce to various identities on harmonic numbers, hyperharmonic numbers, the Stirling numbers of the first and second kind, the r-Stirling numbers of the first and second kind, and the r-Lah numbers. We further discuss briefly the connections between the r-Stirling numbers and the Cauchy numbers, the generalized hyperharmonic numbers, and the poly-Bernoulli polynomials. Many known identities are shown to be special cases of our results, and the combinatorial interpretations of several particular identities are also presented as supplements.  相似文献

Stirling numbers and Bessel numbers have a long history, and both have been generalized in a variety of directions. Here, we present a second level generalization that has both as special cases. This generalization often preserves the inverse relation between the first and second kind, and has simple combinatorial interpretations. We also frame the discussion in terms of the exponential Riordan group. Then the inverse relation is just the group inverse, and factoring inside the group leads to many results connecting the various Stirling and Bessel numbers.  相似文献

In this paper, we generalize the concept of Riordan array. A generalized Riordan array with respect to cn is an infinite, lower triangular array determined by the pair (g(t),f(t)) and has the generic element dn,k=[tn/cn]g(t)(f(t))k/ck, where cn is a fixed sequence of non-zero constants with c0=1.We demonstrate that the generalized Riordan arrays have similar properties to those of the classical Riordan arrays. Based on the definition, the iteration matrices related to the Bell polynomials are special cases of the generalized Riordan arrays and the set of iteration matrices is a subgroup of the Riordan group. We also study the relationships between the generalized Riordan arrays and the Sheffer sequences and show that the Riordan group and the group of Sheffer sequences are isomorphic. From the Sheffer sequences, many special Riordan arrays are obtained. Additionally, we investigate the recurrence relations satisfied by the elements of the Riordan arrays. Based on one of the recurrences, some matrix factorizations satisfied by the Riordan arrays are presented. Finally, we give two applications of the Riordan arrays, including the inverse relations problem and the connection constants problem.  相似文献

We study involutions in the Riordan group, especially those with combinatorial meaning. We give a new determinantal criterion for a matrix to be a Riordan involution and examine several classes of examples. A complete characterization of involutions in the Appell subgroup is developed. In another direction we find several examples that generalize the RNA matrix but are of independent interest.  相似文献

In this paper, we obtain a generalized Lucas polynomial sequence from the lattice paths for the Delannoy numbers by allowing weights on the steps (1,0),(0,1) and (1,1). These weighted lattice paths lead us to a combinatorial interpretation for such a Lucas polynomial sequence. The concept of Riordan arrays is extensively used throughout this paper.  相似文献

The q-Catalan numbers studied by Carlitz and Riordan are polynomials in q with nonnegative coefficients. They evaluate, at q = 1, to the Catalan numbers: 1, 1, 2, 5, 14,…, a log-convex sequence. We use a combinatorial interpretation of these polynomials to prove a q-log-convexity result. The sequence of q-Catalan numbers is not q-log-convex in the narrow sense used by other authors, so our work suggests a more flexible definition of q-log convex be adopted. In this paper we will introduce a sequence of complex numbers that are called the Jacobi numbers. This sequence generalizes in a natural way several sequences that are known in the literature, such as Catalan numbers, central binomial numbers, generalized catalan numbers, the coefficient of the Hilbert matrix and others. Subsequently, using a study of the polynomial of Jacobi, we give an evaluation of the Hankel determinants that associated with the sequence of Jacobi numbers. Finally, by finding a relationship between the Jacobi numbers and generalized harmonic numbers, we determine the evaluation of the Hankel determinants that are associated with generalized harmonic numbers.  相似文献

We prove that if D=(g(x),f(x)) is an element of order 2 in the Riordan group then g(x)=±exp[Φ(x,xf(x)] for some antisymmetric function Φ(x,z). Also we prove that every element of order 2 in the Riordan group can be written as BMB-1 for some element B and M=(1,-1) in the Riordan group. These proofs provide solutions to two open problems presented by L. Shapiro [L.W. Shapiro, Some open questions about random walks, involutions, limiting distributions and generating functions, Adv. Appl. Math. 27 (2001) 585-596].  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to introduce and investigate some of the primary generalizations and unifications of the Peters polynomials and numbers by means of convenient generating functions and p‐adic integrals method. Various fundamental properties of these polynomials and numbers involving some explicit series and integral representations in terms of the generalized Stirling numbers, generalized harmonic sums, and some well‐known special numbers and polynomials are presented. By using p‐adic integrals, we construct generating functions for Peters type polynomials and numbers (Apostol‐type Peters numbers and polynomials). By using these functions with their partial derivative eqautions and functional equations, we derive many properties, relations, explicit formulas, and identities including the Apostol‐Bernoulli polynomials, the Apostol‐Euler polynomials, the Boole polynomials, the Bernoulli polynomials, and numbers of the second kind, generalized harmonic sums. A brief revealing and historical information for the Peters type polynomials are given. Some of the formulas given in this article are given critiques and comments between previously well‐known formulas. Finally, two open problems for interpolation functions for Apostol‐type Peters numbers and polynomials are revealed.  相似文献

The theory of Riordan arrays studies the properties of formal power series and their sequences. The notion of generalized Lagrange series proposed in the present paper is intended to fill the gap in the methodology of this theory. Generalized Lagrange series appear in it implicitly, as various equalities. No special notation is provided for these series, although particular cases of these series are generalized binomial and generalized exponential series. We give the definition of generalized Lagrange series and study their relationship with ordinary Riordan arrays and, separately, with Riordan exponential arrays.  相似文献

For an integer p≥2 we construct vertical and horizontal one-pth Riordan arrays from a Riordan array. When p=2 one-pth Riordan arrays are reduced to well known half Riordan arrays. The generating functions of the A-sequences of vertical and horizontal one-pth Riordan arrays are found. The vertical and horizontal one-pth Riordan arrays provide an approach to construct many identities. They can also be used to verify some well known identities readily.  相似文献
