The synergy of push–pull substitution and enlarged ligand bite angles has been used in functionalized heteroleptic bis(tridentate) polypyridine complexes of ruthenium(II) to shift the 1MLCT absorption and the 3MLCT emission to lower energy, enhance the emission quantum yield, and to prolong the 3MLCT excited‐state lifetime. In these complexes, that is, [Ru(ddpd)(EtOOC‐tpy)][PF6]2, [Ru(ddpd‐NH2)(EtOOC‐tpy)][PF6]2, [Ru(ddpd){(MeOOC)3‐tpy}][PF6]2, and [Ru(ddpd‐NH2){(EtOOC)3‐tpy}][PF6]2 the combination of the electron‐accepting 2,2′;6′,2′′‐terpyridine (tpy) ligand equipped with one or three COOR substituents with the electron‐donating N,N′‐dimethyl‐N,N′‐dipyridin‐2‐ylpyridine‐2,6‐diamine (ddpd) ligand decorated with none or one NH2 group enforces spatially separated and orthogonal frontier orbitals with a small HOMO–LUMO gap resulting in low‐energy 1MLCT and 3MLCT states. The extended bite angle of the ddpd ligand increases the ligand field splitting and pushes the deactivating 3MC state to higher energy. The properties of the new isomerically pure mixed ligand complexes have been studied by using electrochemistry, UV/Vis absorption spectroscopy, static and time‐resolved luminescence spectroscopy, and transient absorption spectroscopy. The experimental data were rationalized by using density functional calculations on differently charged species (charge n=0–4) and on triplet excited states (3MLCT and 3MC) as well as by time‐dependent density functional calculations (excited singlet states).  相似文献

A heteroleptic iron(II) complex [Fe(dcpp)(ddpd)]2+ with a strongly electron‐withdrawing ligand (dcpp, 2,6‐bis(2‐carboxypyridyl)pyridine) and a strongly electron‐donating tridentate tripyridine ligand (ddpd, N,N′‐dimethyl‐N,N′‐dipyridine‐2‐yl‐pyridine‐2,6‐diamine) is reported. Both ligands form six‐membered chelate rings with the iron center, inducing a strong ligand field. This results in a high‐energy, high‐spin state (5T2, (t2g)4(eg*)2) and a low‐spin ground state (1A1, (t2g)6(eg*)0). The intermediate triplet spin state (3T1, (t2g)5(eg*)1) is suggested to be between these states on the basis of the rapid dynamics after photoexcitation. The low‐energy π* orbitals of dcpp allow low‐energy MLCT absorption plus additional low‐energy LL′CT absorptions from ddpd to dcpp. The directional charge‐transfer character is probed by electrochemical and optical analyses, Mößbauer spectroscopy, and EPR spectroscopy of the adjacent redox states [Fe(dcpp)(ddpd)]3+ and [Fe(dcpp)(ddpd)]+, augmented by density functional calculations. The combined effect of push–pull substitution and the strong ligand field paves the way for long‐lived charge‐transfer states in iron(II) complexes.  相似文献

The intensely luminescent chromium(III) complexes [Cr(ddpd)2]3+ and [Cr(H2tpda)2]3+ show surprising pressure‐induced red shifts of up to ?15 cm?1 kbar?1 for their sharp spin‐flip emission bands (ddpd=N,N′‐dimethyl‐N,N′‐dipyridine‐2‐yl‐pyridine‐2,6‐diamine; H2tpda=2,6‐bis(2‐pyridylamino)pyridine). These shifts surpass that of the established standard, ruby Al2O3:Cr3+, by a factor of 20. Beyond the common application in the crystalline state, the very high quantum yield of [Cr(ddpd)2]3+ enables optical pressure sensing in aqueous and methanolic solution. These unique features of the molecular rubies [Cr(ddpd)2]3+ and [Cr(H2tpda)2]3+ pave the way for highly sensitive optical pressure determination and unprecedented molecule‐based pressure sensing with a single type of emitter.  相似文献

Transition metal complexes with photoactive charge-transfer excited states are pervasive throughout the literature. In particular, [Ru(bpy)3]2+ (bpy=2,2′-bipyridine), with its metal-to-ligand charge-transfer emission, has been established as a key complex. Meanwhile, interest in so-called spin-flip metal-centered states has risen dramatically after the molecular ruby [Cr(ddpd)2]3+ (ddpd=N,N′-dimethyl-N,N′-dipyridin-2-yl-pyridine-2,6-diamine) led to design principles to access strong, long-lived emission from photostable chromium(III) complexes. This Review contrasts the properties of emissive charge-transfer and spin-flip states by using [Ru(bpy)3]2+ and [Cr(ddpd)2]3+ as prototypical examples. We discuss the relevant excited states, the tunability of their energy and lifetimes, and their response to external stimuli. Finally, we identify strengths and weaknesses of charge-transfer and spin-flip states in applications such as photocatalysis and circularly polarized luminescence.  相似文献

Increasing the metal-to-ligand charge transfer (MLCT) excited state lifetime of polypyridine iron(II) complexes can be achieved by lowering the ligand's π* orbital energy and by increasing the ligand field splitting. In the homo- and heteroleptic complexes [Fe(cpmp)2]2+ ( 12+ ) and [Fe(cpmp)(ddpd)]2+ ( 22+ ) with the tridentate ligands 6,2’’-carboxypyridyl-2,2’-methylamine-pyridyl-pyridine (cpmp) and N,N’-dimethyl-N,N’-di-pyridin-2-ylpyridine-2,6-diamine (ddpd) two or one dipyridyl ketone moieties provide low energy π* acceptor orbitals. A good metal-ligand orbital overlap to increase the ligand field splitting is achieved by optimizing the octahedricity through CO and NMe units between the coordinating pyridines which enable the formation of six-membered chelate rings. The push-pull ligand cpmp provides intra-ligand and ligand-to-ligand charge transfer (ILCT, LL'CT) excited states in addition to MLCT excited states. Ground and excited state properties of 12+ and 22+ were accessed by X-ray diffraction analyses, resonance Raman spectroscopy, (spectro)electrochemistry, EPR spectroscopy, X-ray emission spectroscopy, static and time-resolved IR and UV/Vis/NIR absorption spectroscopy as well as quantum chemical calculations.  相似文献

Two macrobicyclic ligands derived from an 18‐membered tetralactam ring and 2,2′‐bipyridine or 2,6‐bis(pyrazol‐1‐yl)pyridine moieties, 1 and 2 , respectively, form stable complexes with GdIII, EuIII, and TbIII ions in aqueous solution. The ligand‐based luminescence is retained in the GdIII cryptates, whereas this radiative deactivation is quenched in the EuIII and TbIII cryptates by ligand‐to‐metal energy transfer, resulting in the usual metal‐centered emission spectra. Singlet‐ and triplet‐state energies, emission‐decay lifetimes, and luminescence yields were measured. [Tb⊂ 1 ]3+ cryptate shows a long luminescence lifetime (τ=1.12 ms) and a very high metal luminescence quantum yield (Φ=0.25) in comparison with those reported in the literature for Tb3+ complexes sensitized by a bipyridine chromophore. By comparison to [Ln⊂ 1 ]3+, [Ln⊂ 2 ]3+ presents markedly lower luminescence properties, due to worse interaction between the 2,6‐bis(pyrazol‐1‐yl)pyridine unit and the metal ion. Moreover, the luminescent metal and the triplet ligand energy levels of [Eu⊂ 2 ]3+ do not match. The effects of H2O molecules coordinated to the metal centre and of thermally activated decay processes on nonradiative deactivation to the ground‐state are also reported.  相似文献

Synthesis, characterization, electrochemistry, and photophysics of homo- and heteroleptic ruthenium(II) complexes [Ru(cpmp)2]2+ ( 22+ ) and [Ru(cpmp)(ddpd)]2+ ( 32+ ) bearing the tridentate ligands 6,2’’-carboxypyridyl-2,2’-methylamine-pyridyl-pyridine (cpmp) and N,N’-dimethyl-N,N’-dipyridin-2-ylpyridine-2,6-diamine (ddpd) are reported. The complexes possess one ( 32+ ) or two ( 22+ ) electron-deficient dipyridyl ketone fragments as electron-accepting sites enabling intraligand charge transfer (ILCT), ligand-to-ligand charge transfer (LL'CT) and low-energy metal-to-ligand charge transfer (MLCT) absorptions. The latter peak around 544 nm (green light). Complex 22+ shows 3MLCT phosphorescence in the red to near-infrared spectral region at room temperature in deaerated acetonitrile solution with an emission quantum yield of 1.3 % and a 3MLCT lifetime of 477 ns, whereas 32+ is much less luminescent. This different behavior is ascribed to the energy gap law and the shape of the parasitic excited 3MC state potential energy surface. This study highlights the importance of the excited-state energies and geometries for the actual excited-state dynamics. Aromatic and aliphatic amines reductively quench the excited state of 22+ paving the way to photocatalytic applications using low-energy green light as exemplified with the green-light-sensitized thiol–ene click reaction.  相似文献

In spite of intense, recent research efforts, luminescent transition metal complexes with Earth-abundant metals are still very rare owing to the small ligand field splitting of 3d transition metal complexes and the resulting non-emissive low-energy metal-centered states. Low-energy excited states decay efficiently non-radiatively, so that near-infrared emissive transition metal complexes with 3d transition metals are even more challenging. We report that the heteroleptic pseudo-octahedral d2-vanadium(iii) complex VCl3(ddpd) (ddpd = N,N′-dimethyl-N,N′-dipyridine-2-yl-pyridine-2,6-diamine) shows near-infrared singlet → triplet spin–flip phosphorescence maxima at 1102, 1219 and 1256 nm with a lifetime of 0.5 μs at room temperature. Band splitting, ligand deuteration, excitation energy and temperature effects on the excited state dynamics will be discussed on slow and fast timescales using Raman, static and time-resolved photoluminescence, step-scan FTIR and fs-UV pump-vis probe spectroscopy as well as photolysis experiments in combination with static quantum chemical calculations. These results inform future design strategies for molecular materials of Earth-abundant metal ions exhibiting spin–flip luminescence and photoinduced metal–ligand bond homolysis.

Vanadium is an abundant and cheap metal but near-infrared luminescent vanadium complexes are extremely rare with largely unexplored photophysics and photochemistry. We delineate the photodynamics of VCl3(ddpd) to infer novel design strategies.  相似文献

We report herein an unprecedented example of a luminescent SmIII metal–organic framework (Sm‐MOF), in which both the visible and near‐infrared (NIR) emissions of Sm3+ ions are able to be sensitized by an excited‐state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) ligand. Due to the solvent‐mediated interchange between enol and keto excited states of the ligand and subsequent energy transfer rate to Sm3+ ions, the luminescent decay lifetime of the Sm‐MOF can be tuned in different solvent‐grinding systems.  相似文献

Photocages have been used to elucidate the biological functions of various small molecules and Ca2+; however, there are very few photocages available for other metal ions. ZinCleav‐2 (1‐(4,5‐dimethoxy‐2‐nitrophenyl)‐N,N,N′,N′‐tetrakis‐pyridin‐2‐ylmethyl‐ethane‐1,2‐diamine) is a second‐generation photocage for Zn2+ that releases the metal ion after a light‐induced bifurcation of the chelating ligand. The structure of ZinCleav‐2 was inspired by TPEN (N,N,N′,N′‐tetrakis(2‐pyridylmethyl)ethylenediamine), which is routinely used to sequester metal ions in cells owing to its high binding affinity. Inclusion of a 2‐nitrobenzyl chromophore leads to the formation of two more weakly binding di‐(2‐picolyl)amine (DPA) fragments upon photolysis of the TPEN backbone. The desired ligand was prepared using a modified procedure used to access ZinCleav‐1 (1‐(4,5‐dimethoxy‐2‐nitrophenyl)‐N,N′‐dimethyl‐N,N′‐bis‐pyridin‐2‐ylmethyl‐ethane‐1,2‐diamine). ZinCleav‐2 has a conditional dissociation constant (Kd) of ~0.9 fM as measured by competitive titration with a quinoline‐based fluorescent sensor for Zn2+. The Kd of the Zn2+ complex of the DPA photoproducts is ~158 nM ; therefore, the ΔKd for ZinCleav‐2 photocage is ~108. A large ΔKd is required to significantly perturb free metal ion concentrations in biological assays. The quantum yield of photolysis of apo ZinCleav‐2 and the [Zn(ZinCleav‐2)]2+ complex are 4.7 and 2.3 %, respectively, as determined by HPLC analysis. Proof of concept Zn2+ release upon photolysis of [Zn(ZinCleav‐2)]2+ was demonstrated using the fluorescent sensor Zinpyr‐1, and the speciation of Zn2+ complexes was simulated using computational methods. The influence of benzylic substituents on the quantum yield of uncaging is also analyzed with the aim of tuning the photochemical properties caged complexes for in vivo experiments.  相似文献

Polypyridyl multidentate ligands based on ethylenediamine backbones are important metal‐binding agents with applications in biomimetics and homogeneous catalysis. The seemingly hexadentate tpena ligand [systematic name: N,N,N′‐tris(pyridin‐2‐ylmethyl)ethylenediamine‐N′‐acetate] reacts with zinc chloride and zinc bromide to form trichlorido[μ‐N,N,N′‐tris(pyridin‐2‐ylmethyl)ethylenediamine‐N′‐acetato]dizinc(II), [Zn2(C22H24N5O2)Cl3], and tribromido[μ‐N,N,N′‐tris(pyridin‐2‐ylmethyl)ethylenediamine‐N′‐acetato]dizinc(II), [Zn2Br3(C22H24N5O2)]. One ZnII ion shows the anticipated N5O coordination in an irregular six‐coordinate site and is linked by an anti carboxylate bridge to a tetrahedral ZnX3 (X = Cl or Br) unit. In contrast, the CuII ions in aquatribromido[μ‐N,N,N′‐tris(pyridin‐2‐ylmethyl)ethylenediamine‐N′‐acetato]dicopper(II)–tribromido[μ‐N,N,N′‐tris(pyridin‐2‐ylmethyl)ethylenediamine‐N′‐acetato]dicopper(II)–water (1/1/6.5) [Cu2Br3(C22H24N5O2)][Cu2Br3(C22H24N5O2)(H2O)]·6.5H2O, occupy two tpena‐chelated sites, one a trigonal bipyramidal N3Cl2 site and the other a square‐planar N2OCl site. In all three cases, electrospray ionization mass spectra were dominated by a misleading ion assignable to [M(tpena)]+ (M = Zn2+ and Cu2+).  相似文献

Near‐IR (NIR) emission can offer distinct advantages for both in vitro and in vivo biological applications. Two NIR fluorescent turn‐on sensors N,N′‐di‐n‐butyl‐2‐(N‐{2‐[bis(pyridin‐2‐ylmethyl)amino]ethyl})‐6‐(N‐piperidinyl)naphthalene‐1,4,5,8‐tetracarboxylic acid bisimide and N,N′‐di‐ n‐butyl‐2‐[N,N,N′‐tri(pyridin‐2‐ylmethyl)amino]ethyl‐6‐(N‐piperidinyl)naphthalene‐1,4,5,8‐tetracarboxylic acid bisimide (PND and PNT) for Zn2+ based on naphthalenediimide fluorophore are reported. Our strategy was to choose core‐substituted naphthalenediimide (NDI) as a novel NIR fluorophore and N,N‐di(pyridin‐2‐ylmethyl)ethane‐1,2‐diamine (DPEA) or N,N,N′‐tri(pyridin‐2‐ylmethyl)ethane‐1,2‐diamine (TPEA) as the receptor, respectively, so as to improve the selectivity to Zn2+. In the case of PND, the negligible shift in absorption and emission spectra is strongly suggestive that the secondary nitrogen atom (directly connected to the NDI moiety, N1) is little disturbed with Zn2+. The fluorescence enhancement of PND with Zn2+ titration is dominated with a typical photoinduced electron‐transfer (PET) process. In contrast, the N1 atom for PNT can participate in the coordination of Zn2+ ion, diminishing the electron delocalization of the NDI moiety and resulting in intramolecular charge‐transfer (ICT) disturbance. For PNT, the distinct blueshift in both absorbance and fluorescence is indicative of a combination of PET and ICT processes, which unexpectedly decreases the sensitivity to Zn2+. Due to the differential binding mode caused by the ligand effect, PND shows excellent selectivity to Zn2+ over other metal ions, with a larger fluorescent enhancement centered at 650 nm. Also both PND and PNT were successfully used to image intracellular Zn2+ ions in the living KB cells.  相似文献

A series of anchor‐functionalized cyclometalated bis(tridentate) ruthenium(II) triarylamine hybrids [Ru(dbp‐X)(tctpy)]2? [ 2 a ]2?–[ 2 c ]2? (H3tctpy=2,2′;6′,2′′‐terpyridine‐4,4′,4′′‐tricarboxylic acid; dpbH=1,3‐dipyridylbenzene; X=N(4‐C6H4OMe)2 ([ 2 a ]2?), NPh2 ([ 2 b ]2?), N‐carbazolyl [ 2 c ]2?) was synthesized and characterized. All complexes show broad absorption bands in the range 300–700 nm with a maximum at about 545 nm. Methyl esters [Ru(Me3tctpy)(dpb‐X)]+ [ 1 a ]+–[ 1 c ]+ are oxidized to the strongly coupled mixed‐valent species [ 1 a ]2+–[ 1 c ]2+ and the RuIII(aminium) complexes [ 1 a ]3+–[ 1 c ]3+ at comparably low oxidation potentials. Theoretical calculations suggest an increasing spin delocalization between the metal center and the triarylamine unit in the order [ 1 a ]2+<[ 1 b ]2+<[ 1 c ]2+. Solar cells were prepared with the saponified complexes [ 2 a ]2?–[ 2 c ]2? and the reference dye N719 as sensitizers using the I3?/I? couple and [Co(bpy)3]3+/2+ and [Co(ddpd)2]3+/2+ couples as [B(C6F5)4]? salts as electrolytes (bpy=2,2′‐bipyridine; ddpd=N,N′‐dimethyl‐N,N′‐dipyridin‐2‐yl‐pyridine‐2,6‐diamine). Cells with [ 2 c ]2? and I3?/I? electrolyte perform similarly to cells with N719 . In the presence of cobalt electrolytes, all efficiencies are reduced, yet under these conditions [ 2 c ]2? outperforms N719 .  相似文献

Two complexes of uranyl nitrate with N,N,N′,N′‐tetrabutyl‐2,6‐pyridinedicarboxamide (TBuDPA) and N,N′‐diethyl‐N,N′‐diphenyl‐2,6‐pyridinedicarboxamide (EtPhDPA) were synthesized and studied. The complex of tetraalkyl‐2,6‐pyridinedicarboxamide with metal nitrate was synthesized for the first time. XRD analysis revealed the different type of complexation: a 1:1 metal:ligand complex for EtPhDPA and complex with polymeric structure for TBuDPA. The quantum chemical calculations (DFT) confirm that both ligands form the most stable complexes that match the minimal values pre‐organization energy of the ligands.  相似文献

The photophysics of bis(4,4′‐di‐tert‐butyl‐2,2′‐bipyridine‐κ2N,N′)[2‐(4‐carboxyphenyl)‐4,5‐bis(p‐tolylimino‐κN)imidazolato]ruthenium(II) hexafluorophosphate is investigated, both in solution and attached to a nanocrystalline TiO2 film. The studied substitution pattern of the 4H‐imidazole ligand is observed to block a photoinduced structural reorganization pathway within the 4H‐imidazole ligand that has been previously investigated. Protonation at the 4H‐imidazole ring decreases the excited‐state lifetime in solution. When the unprotonated dye is anchored to TiO2, photoinduced electron injection occurs from thermally nonrelaxed triplet metal‐to‐ligand charge transfer (3MLCT) states with a characteristic time constant of 0.5 ps and an injection efficiency of roughly 25 %. Electron injection from the subsequently populated thermalized 3MLCT state of the dye does not take place. The energy of this state seems to be lower than the conduction band edge of TiO2.  相似文献

A ditopic benzobis(carbene) ligand precursor was prepared that contained a chelating pyridyl moiety to ensure co‐planarity of the carbene ligand and the coordination plane of a bound octahedral metal center. Bimetallic ruthenium complexes comprising this ditopic ligand [L4Ru‐C,N‐bbi‐C,N‐RuL4] were obtained by a transmetalation methodology (C,N‐bbi‐C,N=benzobis(N‐pyridyl‐N′‐methyl‐imidazolylidene). The two metal centers are electronically decoupled when the ruthenium is in a pseudotetrahedral geometry imparted by a cymene spectator ligand (L4=[(cym)Cl]). Ligand exchange of the Cl?/cymene ligands for two bipyridine or four MeCN ligands induced a change of the coordination geometry to octahedral. As a consequence, the ruthenium centers, separated through space by more than 10 Å, become electronically coupled, which is evidenced by two distinctly different metal‐centered oxidation processes that are separated by 134 mV (L4=[(bpy)2]; bpy=2,2′‐bipyridine) and 244 mV (L4=[(MeCN)4]), respectively. Hush analysis of the intervalence charge‐transfer bands in the mixed‐valent species indicates substantial valence delocalization in both complexes (delocalization parameter Γ=0.41 and 0.37 in the bpy and MeCN complexes, respectively). Spectroelectrochemical measurements further indicated that the mixed‐valent RuII/RuIII species and the fully oxidized RuIII/RuIII complexes gradually decompose when bound to MeCN ligands, whereas the bpy spectators significantly enhance the stability. These results demonstrate the efficiency of carbenes and, in particular, of the bbi ligand scaffold for mediating electron transfer and for the fabrication of molecular redox switches. Moreover, the relevance of spectator ligands is emphasized for tailoring the degree of electronic communication through the benzobis(carbene) linker.  相似文献

Photophysical properties in dilute MeCN solution are reported for seven RuII complexes containing two 2,2′‐bipyridine (bpy) ligands and different third ligands, six of which contain a variety of 4,4′‐carboxamide‐disubstituted 2,2′‐bipyridines, for one complex containing no 2,2′‐bipyridine, but 2 of these different ligands, for three multinuclear RuII complexes containing 2 or 4 [Ru(bpy)2] moieties and also coordinated via 4,4′‐carboxamide‐disubstituted 2,2′‐bipyridine ligands, and for the complex [(Ru(bpy)2(L)]2+ where L is N,N′‐([2,2′‐bipyridine]‐4,4′‐diyl)bis[3‐methoxypropanamide]. Absorption maxima are red‐shifted with respect to [Ru(bpy)3]2+, as are phosphorescence maxima which vary from 622 to 656 nm. The lifetimes of the lowest excited triplet metal‐to‐ligand charge transfer states 3MLCT in de‐aerated MeCN are equal to or longer than for [Ru(bpy)3]2+ and vary considerably, i.e., from 0.86 to 1.71 μs. Rate constants kq for quenching by O2 of the 3MLCT states were measured and found to be well below diffusion‐controlled, ranging from 1.2 to 2.0⋅109 dm3 mol−1 s−1. The efficiencies f of singlet‐oxygen formation during oxygen quenching of these 3MLCT states are relatively high, namely 0.53 – 0.89. The product of kq and f gives the net rate constant k for quenching due to energy transfer to produce singlet oxygen, and kqk equals k, the net rate constant for quenching due to energy dissipation of the excited 3MLCT states without energy transfer. The quenching rate constants were both found to correlate with ΔGCT, the free‐energy change for charge transfer from the excited Ru complex to oxygen, and the relative and absolute values of these rate constants are discussed.  相似文献

The title compounds, bis(dimethylformamide)‐1κO,3κO‐bis{μ‐2,2′‐[2,2′‐dimethylpropane‐1,3‐diylbis(nitrilomethylidyne)]diphenolato}‐1κ4N,N′,O,O′:2κ2O,O′;2κ2O,O′:3κ4N,N′,O,O′‐di‐μ‐nitrito‐1:2κ2N:O;2:3κ2O:N‐dinickel(II)cobalt(II), [CoNi2(NO2)2(C19H22N2O2)2(C3H7NO)2], (I), ‐copper(II), [CuNi2(NO2)2(C19H22N2O2)2(C3H7NO)2], (II), and ‐manganese(II), [MnNi2(NO2)2(C19H22N2O2)2(C3H7NO)2], (III), consist of centrosymmetric linear heterotrinuclear metal complexes. The three complexes are isostructural. There are three bridges across the Ni–M atom pairs (M is Co2+, Cu2+ or Mn2+) in each complex, involving two O atoms of a μ‐N,N′‐bis(salicylidene)‐2,2′dimethyl‐1,3‐propanediaminate ligand and an N—O moiety of a μ‐nitrito group. The coordination sphere around each metal atom, whether Co2+, Cu2+, Mn2+ or Ni2+, can be described as distorted octahedral. The Ni?M distances are 2.9988 (5) Å in (I), 2.9872 (5) Å in (II) and 3.0624 (8) Å in (III).  相似文献

Low‐energy metal‐to‐ligand charge‐transfer (MLCT) excitations are associated with the very large molecular nonlinear optical (NLO) coefficients, β, of the complexes [RuII(NH3)5(N‐R‐4,4′‐bipyridinium)]3+ (R=methyl, phenyl, or 4‐acetylphenyl). Chemical oxidation to the RuIII forms causes bleaching of the MLCT absorptions and marked attenuation of the NLO responses. Both effects are completely reversed upon re‐reduction, and the extent of the β switching is about 10‐ to 20‐fold.  相似文献

Phototriggered intramolecular isomerization in a series of ruthenium sulfoxide complexes, [Ru(L)(tpy)(DMSO)]n+ (where tpy=2,2’:6’,2’’‐terpyridine; DMSO=dimethyl sulfoxide; L=2,2’‐bipyridine (bpy), n=2; N,N,N’,N’‐tetramethylethylenediamine (tmen) n=2; picolinate (pic), n=1; acetylacetonate (acac), n=1; oxalate (ox), n=0; malonate (mal), n=0), was investigated theoretically. It is observed that the metal‐centered ligand field (3MC) state plays an important role in the excited state S→O isomerization of the coordinated DMSO ligand. If the population of 3MCS state is thermally accessible and no 3MCO can be populated from this state, photoisomerization will be turned off because the 3MCS excited state is expected to lead to fast radiationless decay back to the original 1GSS ground state or photodecomposition along the Ru2+?S stretching coordinate. On the contrary, if the population of 3MCS (or 3MCO) state is inaccessible, photoinduced S→O isomerization can proceed adiabatically on the potential energy surface of the metal‐to‐ligand charge transfer excited states (3MLCTS3MLCTO). It is hoped that these results can provide valuable information for the excited state isomerization in photochromic d6 transition‐metal complexes, which is both experimentally and intellectually challenging as a field of study.  相似文献
