Further observations are made on the author's earlier paper (Ref. Zh. Mat., 1977, 5A284) dealing with the lattice H of all subgroups of the full linear group GL(n, K) over a field K that contain the group K of diagonal matrices. It is noted, for example, that for an infinite field K all subgroups inD(n, K) are algebraic; a subgroup in H is connected if and only if it is a net subgroup; the lattice of all connected subgroups in H is isomorphic to the lattice of all marked topologies onn points; any subgroup H in H is a semidirect product H=A·Ho of a maximal connected normal subgroup Ho of H and a finite group A of, permutation matrices.Translated from Zapiski Nauchnykh Seminarov Leningradskogo Otdeleniya Matematicheskogo Instituta im. In this paper,we define a group Tp(G) of p-endotrivial kG-modules and a generalized Dade group Dp(G) for a finite group G.We prove that Tp(G) ≌ Tp(H) whenever the subgroup H contains a normalizer of a Sylow p-subgroup of G,in this case,K(G) ≌ K(H).We also prove that the group Dp(G) can be embedded into Tp(G) as a subgroup.  相似文献

This paper deals with groups satisfying the weak minimality (maximality) condition for normal subgroups and having an ascending series of normal subgroups whose factors are finite or Abelian of finite rank. It is well known that in a topological semigroup S with an identity 1 the maximal subgroup H (1) must be open if 1 has an euclidean neighborhood (Mostert-Shields [7]). If multiplication in S is only “separately” continuous, i.e. x?yx and x?xy is continuous for all y∈S, the statement remains true if the underlying space of S is a compact manifold (Berglund [2], Lawson [6]). In this paper the case of a compact semigroup with only one-sided continuity (i.e. x?yx or x?xy is continuous for all y∈S) which is defined on an interval or a circle is investigated. It is also shown that a group, defined on the line or on a circle, must be a topological group if it satisfies this very weak condition.  相似文献

A subgroup if of a group G is called semipermutable if it is permutable with every subgroup K of G with (|H|, |K|) - 1, and s-semipermutable if it is permutable with every Sylow p-subgroup of G with (p, |H|) = 1. Let G be a finite group and let G be the semi-direct product of a normal subgroup N and a subgroup K. In [1], conditions were found which are equivalent to the existence of a normal complement to N in G. We consider the structure of groups N for which the above condition always holds. Thus we use Bechtell's results to gain information on groups N such that if G is a semi-direct product of N and a subgroup K, then N is a direct factor of G, for all G. It is an old result that a group N is complete if and only if whenever N is a normal subgroup of G, then N is a direct factor of G, [4]. Hence it is not surprising that complete groups are part of our result. Moreover a group N is complete if and only if N is isomorphic to Aut(N) under the mapping σ(n) = σ n , where σ n is the inner automorphism induced by n. This remark leads us to consider groups N which contain a subgroup H such that H is isomorphic to Aut(N) under σ: H → Aut(N). All groups considered here are finite. The results found here do not parallel the results found in the author's dissertation for Lie algebras. There it is shown that only complete Lie algebras have the desired property. Thus, these results provide an example of when the theory of Lie algebras diverges from that of groups.  相似文献

We call a subgroup H of a finite group G c-supplemented in G if there exists a subgroup K of G such that G = HK and H ∩ K ≤ core(H). In this paper it is proved that a finite group G is p-nilpotent if G is S4-free and every minimal subgroup of P n GN is c-supplemented in NG(P), and when p = 2 P is quaternion-free, where p is the smallest prime number dividing the order of G, P a Sylow p-subgroup of G.  A characterization is given for the K?the matrices B such that the K?the sequence space , with , contains all K?the sequence spaces of order p as subspaces. It follows that the class of K?the sequence spaces of order p has a universal element which is quasinormable. In particular, there is a quasinormable space (respectively, which contains every nuclear Fréchet space with basis (respectively, every countably normed Fréchet Schwartz space).
