Passband balanced steady state free precession (b-SSFP) fMRI employs the flat portion of the SSFP off-resonance response to obtain microscopic susceptibility changes elicited by changes in blood oxygenation following enhancement in neuronal activity. This technique can reduce geometric distortion and signal dropout while maintaining rapid acquisition and high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) compared with traditional fMRI techniques. In the study, we developed a novel multi-phase passband b-SSFP fMRI technique that can achieve a spatial resolution of a few mm3 and a high temporal sampling rate of 50 ms per slice at 7 Tesla. This technique was further applied for an event-related (ER) fMRI paradigm. As a comparison, gradient-echo echo-planar imaging (GE-EPI) with similar spatial resolution and temporal sampling rate was carried out for the same ER-fMRI experiment. Experiments with visual cortex stimulation were carried out at 7 Tesla to demonstrate whether the multi-phase b-SSFP technique and GE-EPI are able to differentiate temporal delays in hemodynamic response function (HRF) separated by 100 ms in stimulus onset. Consistent with ERP results, the upslope of the HRF of both techniques can differentiate 100 ms delay in stimulus onset, with the former showing a lower level of intersubject variability. The present study demonstrated that the multi-phase passband b-SSFP fMRI technique can be applied for resolving neuronal events on the order of 100 ms at ultrahigh magnetic fields.  相似文献

ObjectivesTo evaluate the diagnostic performance of a new three-dimensional T1-weighted turbo-spin-echo sequence (3D T1-w TSE) compared to 3D contrast-enhanced angiography (CE-MRA) for stenosis measurement and compared to 2D T1-w TSE for intra-plaque hemorrhage (IPH) detection.MethodsEighty three patients underwent carotid MRI, using a new elliptic-centric phase encoding T1-weighted 3D TSE sequence in addition to the clinical protocol. Two observers evaluated image quality, presence of flow artifacts, and presence of intra-plaque hemorrhage, and computed the NASCET degree of stenosis for CE-MRA and for the new sequence. Inter-observer agreement and correlation between 3D TSE and CE-MRA for NASCET stenosis was estimated using Cohen's kappa, and correlation using linear regression and Bland-Altman plots.Histology was performed on endarterectomy samples for 18 patients. Sensitivity and specificity of 2D and 3D TSE for IPH diagnosis were computed.Results3D TSE showed better image quality than 2D TSE (p < 0.05). Interobserver agreement was good (kappa  0.86). Correlation between 3D TSE and CE-MRA was excellent (R = 0.95) for NASCET stenosis. Sensitivity and specificity for IPH diagnosis was 50% and 100% for 2D TSE and 100% and 83% for the 3D TSE.ConclusionsThe new 3D T1-w TSE allows both reliable measures of carotid stenosis, with a slight overestimation compared to CE-MRA (5%), and improved IPH identification, compared to 2D TSE.  相似文献

The blood oxygen level-dependent (BOLD) effect is extensively used for functional MRI (fMRI) but presents some limitations. Diffusion-weighted fMRI (DfMRI) has been proposed as a method more tightly linked to neuronal activity. This work proposes a protocol of DfMRI acquired for several b-values and diffusion directions that is compared to gradient-echo BOLD (GE-BOLD) and to repeated spin-echo BOLD (SE-BOLD, acquisitions performed with b = 0 s/mm2), which was also used to ensure the reproducibility of the response.A block stimulation paradigm of the primary visual system (V1) was performed in 12 healthy subjects with checkerboard alternations (2 Hz frequency). DfMRI was performed at 3 T with 5 b-values (b = 1500, 1000, 500, 250, 0 s/mm2) with TR/TE = 1004/93 ms, Δ/δ = 45.4 ms/30 ms, and 6 spatial directions for diffusion measures. GE-BOLD was performed with a similar block stimulation design timing. Apparent Diffusion Coefficient (ADC)-fMRI was computed with all b-values used. An identical Z-score level was used for all fMRI modalities for the comparison of volumes of activation. ADC-fMRI and SE-BOLD fMRI activation locations were compared in a voxel-based analysis to a cytoarchitectural probability map of V1.SE-BOLD activation volumes represented only 55% of the GE-BOLD activation volumes (P < 0.0001). DfMRI activation volumes averaged for all b-values acquired represented only 12% of GE-BOLD (P < 0.0001) and only 22% of SE-BOLD activation volumes (P < 0.005). Compared to SE-BOLD-fMRI, ADC-fMRI activations showed fewer pixels outside of V1 and a higher average probability of belonging to V1.DfMRI and ADC-fMRI acquisition at 3 T could be easily post-processed with common neuro-imaging software. DfMRI and ADC-fMRI activation volumes were significantly smaller than those obtained with SE-BOLD. ADC-fMRI activations were more precisely localized in V1 than those of SE-BOLD-fMRI. This validated the increased capability of ADC-fMRI compared to BOLD to enhance the precision of localizing an fMRI activation in the cyto-architectural zone V1, thereby justifying the use of ADC-fMRI for neuro-scientific studies.  相似文献

Anesthetics are commonly used in preclinical functional MRI studies. It is well-appreciated that proper choice of anesthetics is of critical importance for maintaining a physiologically normal range of autonomic functioning. A recent study, using a low dose of dexmedetomidine (active isomer of medetomidine) in combination with a low dose of isoflurane, suggested stable measurements across repeated fMRI experiments in individual animals with each session lasting up to several hours. The rat default mode network has been successfully identified using this preparation, indicating that this protocol minimally disturbs brain network functions. However, medetomidine is known to cause peripheral vasoconstriction, respiratory suppression, and bradycardia, each of which could independently confound the BOLD signal. The goal of this study was to systematically characterize physiological conditions for fMRI experiments under this anesthetic regimen. To this end, we acquired somatosensory stimulation “task-evoked” and resting-state fMRI to evaluate the integrity of neurovascular coupling and brain network function during three time windows (0–30 min, 30–90 min, and 90–150 min) following dexmedetomidine initiation. Results demonstrate that both evoked BOLD response and resting-state fMRI signal remained stable during the 90–150 min time window, while autonomic physiological parameters maintained near-normal conditions during this period. Our data suggest that using a spontaneously-inhaled, low dose of isoflurane in combination with a continuous low dose of dexmedetomidine is a viable option for longitudinal imaging studies in rats.  相似文献

Free electron lasers (FEL) are new generation accelerator-based short wavelength light sources providing high pulse intensity and femtosecond pulse duration, which enable investigation of interaction of elementary excitations in solids under extreme conditions. Using the FLASH facility of HASYLAB at DESY (Hamburg, Germany), we investigated the response of different materials with scintillating properties based on intrinsic emissions to the 25.6 and 13.8 nm FEL radiation by means of time-resolved luminescence spectroscopy. FLASH delivered single pulses of 25 fs duration having energy per pulse up to 30 μJ resulting in power densities of ~1012 W/cm2 on crystals. As a function of excitation density we observed the shortening of lifetime and non-exponential behaviour of emission decays in CaWO4, while the emission spectra recorded are comparable to those obtained at conventional excitation sources.  相似文献

The bremsstrahlung energy spectrum generated by the 450 MeV electron linac driving the vacuum ultra violet free electron laser FLASH (free electron laser in Hamburg) operated by DESY was measured with TLD-700 detectors and unfolded using a technique based on a genetic algorithm. The half (1/2), one-fourth (1/4) and tenth (1/10) value layer thickness of lead were estimated to be 1.0, 4.0 and 20 mm, respectively. The peak and average photon energy were calculated from the unfolded bremsstrahlung spectrum and found to be 0.5 and 0.8 MeV, respectively.  相似文献

The Thermally Stimulated Luminescence (TSL) at room temperature X-ray irradiated natural biotite in form of micro-grain powder was studied under various heating rates. TSL peaks showed at temperatures 393 K, 399.6 K, 403.5 K, 404.5 K, 406.9 K at their respective heating rates 2 K/s, 4 K/s, 6 K/s, 8 K/s and 10 K/s. The effect of thermal quenching on thermoluminescence parameters such as peak maximum temperature, peak area, FWHM, geometrical symmetry factor, the activation energy were investigated. From the symmetry factor it is clear that the TL glow curve follows the first order kinetics for the lowest heating rate, but as the heating rate increases it defers from the first order. The activation energies for each heating rates were calculated by using Chen peak shape methods for general order kinetics and found to be decreased for higher heating rates. When activation energy is calculated by variable heating rate method it is observed that the method overestimated the value of activation energy and pre-exponential frequency factor significantly due to thermal quenching.  相似文献

Microporous activated carbons were prepared by microwave heating petroleum coke with potassium hydroxide as activation agent. Microporous activated carbons were characterized by infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and nitrogen adsorption/desorption isotherms. Electrochemical properties of an electric double layer capacitor using microporous activated carbon as electrode materials were investigated by constant current charge-discharge and electrochemical impedance spectroscopic techniques. The results show that the specific surface area and the pore volume of microporous activated carbon increase with increasing activation time before the activation time reaches 37 min. The microporous volume totals 94.0% in the microporous activated carbons and the average pore diameter of microporous activated carbon is 2.00 nm. Microporous activated carbons prepared in the activation time of 31, 35 and 37 min are named as AC-31, AC-35 and AC-37, respectively. Compared with AC-27 electrode, the internal resistance for ions transferring in AC-31, AC-35 or AC-37 electrode is relatively small. The specific capacitance of AC-31 is the biggest among the microporous activated carbons, and it retains 279.6 F g?1 maintaining 93.5% capacity after 200 recycling number.  相似文献

ObjectivesWe validate a 4D strategy tailored for 3 T clinical systems to simultaneously quantify function and infarct size in wild type mice after ischemia/reperfusion, with improved spatial and temporal resolution by comparison to previous published protocols using clinical field MRI systems.MethodsC57BL/6J mice underwent 60 min ischemia/reperfusion (n = 14) or were controls without surgery (n = 6). Twenty-four hours after surgery mice were imaged with gadolinium injection and sacrificed for post-mortem MRI and histology with serum also taken for Troponin I levels. The double ECG- and respiratory-triggered 3D FLASH (Fast Low Angle Shot) gradient echo (GRE) cine sequence had an acquired isotropic resolution of 344 μm, TR/TE of 7.8/2.9 ms and acquisition time 25–35 min. The conventional 2D FLASH cine sequence had the same in-plane resolution of 344 μm, 1 mm slice thickness and TR/TE 11/5.4 ms for an acquisition time of 20–25 min plus 5 min for planning. Left ventricle (LV) and right ventricle (RV) volumes were measured and functional parameters compared 2D to 3D, left to right and for inter and intra observer reproducibility. MRI infarct volume was compared to histology.ResultsFor the function evaluation, the 3D cine outperformed 2D cine for spatial and temporal resolution. Protocol time for the two methods was equivalent (25–35 min). Flow artifacts were reduced (p = 0.008) and epi/endo-cardial delineation showed good intra and interobserver reproducibility. Paired t-test comparing ejection volume left to right showed no significant difference for 3D (p = 0.37), nor 2D (p = 0.30) and correlation slopes of left to right EV were 1.17 (R2 = 0.75) for 2D and 1.05 (R2 = 0.50) for 3D.Quantifiable ‘late gadolinium enhancement’ infarct volume was seen only with the 3D cine and correlated to histology (R2 = 0.89). Left ejection fraction and MRI-measured infarct volume correlated (R2 > 0.3).ConclusionsThe 4D strategy, with contrast injection, was validated in mice for function and infarct quantification from a single scan with minimal slice planning.  相似文献

The paper presents the experimental results on how the active additive HBr and the temperatures of the containers with CuBr influence the gain characteristics of large volume (8 cm bore, 90 cm long) CuBr laser active media with the external heating of the active zone of the gas discharge tube (GDT). It has been demonstrated that an increase in the concentration of CuBr vapors results in the contraction of the gain profile of the active medium, consistent with the increase of the gain factor in the axial region of GDT. The contraction is also imposed by HBr addition. Despite the fact that we used the external heating of GDT at the pump power of 1.5 kW and less, the energy input is still not sufficient to produce the effective generation for large active volume lasers; and it is evident from the small gain profile width. The maximum gain profile width under experimental conditions (consider Pout/Pin > 2) was 3 cm; this value was obtained without HBr-additive within the active volume, while the concentration of CuBr vapors being significantly less than optimal, that corresponds to the maximum average lasing power.  相似文献

δ-MnO2 with the doping of Ni and Bi was prepared through a simple chemical precipitation/oxidation method. Its structure was confirmed by the X-ray diffraction tests. The results of cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic charge–discharge tests showed that both the doping of Bi and Ni benefited the electrochemical activity of the MnO2 electrode. Compared to the un-doped electrode, the Bi-doped one showed larger discharge capacity and the Ni-doped one showed higher discharge potential and better cycleability. With the co-doping of 5 wt% Bi and 10 wt% Ni, the discharge capacity of the MnO2 electrode reached 252 mA h g?1 at a 0.2C rate and 116 mA h g?1 at a 1C rate, respectively. Its capacity remained in 105 mA h g?1 after 50 cycles at a 1C rate, but the capacity of a commercial electrolytic MnO2 electrode was only 37 mA h g?1.  相似文献

Silicon (100) surfaces were modified by reacting 4-aminopyridine and Si–Cl bond. These surfaces were further used for tethering copper bimetallic complexes and growing monolayers and multilayers by changing the axial position via Lewis acid–base reactions. In this way, coordination chemistry approach can be used as building blocks for controlling the design of functional surfaces. Furthermore, the outcomes of the several characterization techniques indicate that the complex is spatially oriented suggesting that this simple strategy allows the preparation of three dimensional molecular structures exhibiting spatial order. The structures on surface show interesting electroactive behaviors leading two cathodic signals, that can be related to Cu(II)/Cu(I) and Cu(I)/Cu(0) electro-reduction species (signals at ? 0.15 V and ? 0.50 V) and one peak in the anodic region (? 0.15 V) ascribed to the Cu(0)/Cu(II) electro-oxidation reaction, using an Ag/AgCl saturated electrode and platinum wire as reference and counter electrodes, respectively.  相似文献

This paper focuses on the frequency analysis of acoustic signals produced by partial discharges (PDs) in insulation oil and the positioning of the PD occurrence for application in the diagnosis of oil-insulated transformers. Three types of electrode systems; the needle–plane, the plane–plane, and the wire–wire structures were assembled to simulate the partial discharge in insulation oil. A low-noise amplifier and a de-coupler were designed to detect the acoustic signal with high-sensitivity. The frequency ranges of the acoustic signal were 60–270 kHz in the needle–plane electrode system, 45–250 kHz in the plane–plane electrode system, and 50–180 kHz in the wire–wire electrode system. Their peak frequencies were 145 kHz, 118 kHz and 121 kHz, respectively. The position of the PD occurrence was calculated from the time difference of arrival (TOA) using three acoustic emission (AE) sensors. The position was found within a 1% error in the experimental set-up.  相似文献

A vault as per government-regulation compliance with adequate shielding needs was designed and constructed for Hi-Art II Tomotherapy machine being the first in India. Radiation measurements around this Tomotherapy treatment vault were carried out to check the shielding adequacy of the source housing and the vault. It was mandatory to get this un-conventional machine “Type Approved” by Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) in India. The aim of this paper was to report on the radiation levels measured during the radiation survey carried out for this machine. The radiation levels in and around the vault were measured for stationary as well as rotational treatment procedures with the largest open field size (5 cm × 40 cm) at the isocenter with and without scattering medium. The survey was performed at three locations near each wall surrounding the vault as well. The leakage radiation from the source housing was measured both in the patient plane outside the treatment field and one meter distance from the source outside the patient plane. The radiation levels both for stationary as well as rotational procedures were within 1 mR/h. No significance difference was observed in the radiation levels measured for rotational procedures with and without scattering medium. The leakage radiation in the patient plane was found to be 0.04% (Tolerance 0.2%), while the head leakage was 0.007% (Tolerance 0.5%) of the dose rate at the isocenter. The treatment delivery with Tomotherapy does play safe radiation levels around the installation layout and also passes the leakage criteria as well.  相似文献

Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) often relies on a hemodynamic response function (HRF), the stereotypical blood oxygen level dependent (BOLD) response elicited by a brief (< 4 s) stimulus. Early measurements of the HRF used coarse spatial resolutions (≥ 3 mm voxels) that would generally include contributions from white matter, gray matter, and the extra-pial compartment (the space between the pial surface and skull including pial blood vessels) within each voxel. To resolve these contributions, high-resolution fMRI (0.9-mm voxels) was performed at 3 T in early visual cortex and its apposed white-matter and extra-pial compartments. The results characterized the depth dependence of the HRF and its reliability during nine fMRI sessions. Significant HRFs were observed in white-matter and extra-pial compartments as well as in gray matter. White-matter HRFs were faster and weaker than in the gray matter, while extra-pial HRFs were comparatively slower and stronger. Depth trends of the HRF peak amplitude were stable throughout a broad depth range that included all three compartments for each session. Across sessions, however, the depth trend of HRF peak amplitudes was stable only in the white matter and deep-intermediate gray matter, while there were strong session-to-session variations in the superficial gray matter and the extra-pial compartment. Thus, high-resolution fMRI can resolve significant and dynamically distinct HRFs in gray matter, white matter, and extra-pial compartments.  相似文献

Optical properties of MBE-grown GaAs(0 0 1) surfaces have been studied by spectroscopic ellipsometry under dynamic conditions of ramp heating and cooling after desorption of passivating As-cap-layer with low pressure H2 atmosphere (14 Torr) applied to the surface. The temperature dependence of GaAs pseudo-dielectric function with atomically smooth (0 0 1) surface carrying the fixed Ga-rich (4 × 2) reconstruction was obtained for the temperature range of 160–600 °C. It is shown ellipsometrically that GaAs(0 0 1) heating in the molecular hydrogen atmosphere results in the formation of hydrogenated layer on the surface.  相似文献

Ag films were deposited on Al-doped ZnO (AZO) films and coated with AZO to fabricate AZO/Ag/AZO multilayer films by DC magnetron sputtering on glass substrates without heating of glass substrates. The best multilayer films have low sheet resistance of 19.8 Ω/Sq and average transmittance values of 61% in visible region. It was found that the highest figure of merit (FTC) is 6.9 × 10−4 Ω−1. For the dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) application, the multilayer films were used as transparent conductive electrode (multilayer films/ZnO + Eosin-Y/LiI + I2/Pt/FTO). The best DSSC based on the multilayer films showed that open circuit voltage (Voc) of 0.47 V, short circuit current density (Jsc) of 2.24 mA/cm2, fill factor (FF) of 0.58 and incident photon-to-current conversion efficiency (η) of 0.61%. It was shown that the AZO/Ag/AZO multilayer films have potential for application in DSSC.  相似文献

In this work, results of three-dimensional (3D) Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) measurements of the electrohydrodynamic (EHD) flow velocity fields in a narrow electrostatic precipitator (ESP) with a longitudinal-to-flow placed wire electrode are presented. The ESP was a narrow transparent acrylic box (90 mm×30 mm×30 mm). The electrode set consisted of a single wire discharge electrode and two plane collecting electrodes. Either two smooth stainless-steel plates or two stainless-steel plane meshes with nylon flocks were used as the collecting electrodes. The 3D PIV measurements were carried out in two parallel planes, placed longitudinally to the flow duct. The positive DC voltage of up to 9.5 kV was applied to the wire electrode through a 10 MΩ resistor. The collecting electrodes were grounded. The measurements were carried out at a primary flow velocity of 0.5 m/s. Obtained results show that the flow patterns for the smooth-plate electrodes and for the flocking plane electrodes are similar in the bulk of the flow. However, the flow velocities near the flocking plane electrodes are much lower than those near the smooth-plate electrodes. This is a beneficial phenomenon, because the lower the flow near the collecting electrodes, the lower re-entrainment of the particles deposited on the collecting electrodes occurs.  相似文献

Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) use two glass substrates (photo electrode and counter electrode) coated with fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) to harvest light into the cell and to collect electrons. The space between the photo electrode and the counter electrode are filled with a liquid type electrolyte for electron transfer into the cell. Therefore, an appropriate sealing method is required to prevent the liquid electrolyte leaking out. In this paper, a simple CO2 laser beam with TEM00 mode excited by a 60 Hz AC discharge was used to seal two glass substrates coated with FTO for the fabrication of DSSCs. The sealing technique improved the durability and stability of the DSSCs. The optimal conditions for the sealing of the DSSCs are related to the pin-hole diameter, the discharge current and the moving velocity of the target. Especially, the CO2 laser beam is used as a heat source that is precisely controlled by the pin-hole, which plays an important role in adjusting its spot size. From these results, the maximum laser power was found to be 40 W at 18 Torr and 35 mA. In order to achieve the best sealing quality, the following parameters are required: a pin-hole diameter of 4 mm, input voltage of 10.73 kV, discharge current of 9.31 mA, moving velocity of 1 mm/s and distance from the target surface of 26.5 cm. Scanning electron microscope images show that the sealing quality obtained using the CO2 laser beam is superior to that obtained using a hot press or soldering iron.  相似文献

The sonoelectrochemical degradation of triclosan in aqueous solutions with high-frequency ultrasound (850 kHz) and various electrodes was investigated. Diamond coated niobium electrode showed the best results and was used as standard electrode, leading to effective degradation and positive synergistic effect. The influence of different parameters on the degradation degree and energy efficiency were evaluated and favorable reaction conditions were found. It could be shown that 92% of triclosan (1 mg L−1 aqueous solution) was degraded within 15 min, following pseudo-first order kinetics.  相似文献
