PurposeTo determine magnetic resonance elastography (MRE)-derived stiffness of pancreas in healthy volunteers with emphasis on: 1) short term and midterm repeatability; and 2) variance as a function of age.MethodsPancreatic MRE was performed on 22 healthy volunteers (age range:20–64 years) in a 3 T–scanner. For evaluation of reproducibility of stiffness estimates, the scans were repeated per volunteer on the same day (short term) and one month apart (midterm). MRE wave images were analyzed using 3D inversion to estimate the stiffness of overall pancreas and different anatomic regions (i.e., head, neck, body, and tail). Concordance and Spearman correlation tests were performed to determine reproducibility of stiffness measurements and relationship to age.ResultsA strong concordance correlation (ρc = 0.99; p-value < 0.001) was found between short term and midterm repeatability pancreatic stiffness measurements. Additionally, the pancreatic stiffness significantly increased with age with good Spearman correlation coefficient (all ρ > 0.81; p < 0.001). The older age group (> 45 yrs) had significantly higher stiffness compared to the younger group (≤ 45 yrs) (p < 0.001). No significant difference (p > 0.05) in stiffness measurements was observed between different anatomical regions of pancreas, except neck stiffness was slightly lower (p < 0.012) compared to head and overall pancreas at month 1.ConclusionMRE-derived pancreatic stiffness measurements are highly reproducible in the short and midterm and increase linearly with age in healthy volunteers. Further studies are needed to examine these effects in patients with various pancreatic diseases to understand potential clinical applications.  相似文献

PurposeTo determine if tumor stiffness by MR Elastography (MRE) is associated with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) pathologic features.Material and methodsA retrospective review was undertaken of all patients with pathologically confirmed HCC who underwent MRE prior to loco-regional therapy, surgical resection or transplant between 1/1/2007 to 12/31/2015. An independent observer measured tumor stiffness (kilopascals, kPa) by drawing regions of interest (ROI) covering the HCC and in the case of HCCs with non-enhancing/necrotic components, only the solid portion was included in the ROI. HCC tumor grade (WHO criteria), vascular invasion and tumor encapsulation were assessed from retrievable pathology specimens by an expert hepatobiliary pathologist. Tumor stiffness was compared by tumor grade, size, presence of capsule and vascular invasion using Student's t-test (or Exact Mann-Whitney test).Results21 patients were identified who had pathologically confirmed HCCs and tumor MRE data. 17 patients (81.0%) had underlying chronic liver disease. The mean ± SD tumor size (cm) was 5.3 ± 3.9 cm. The mean ± SD tumor stiffness was 5.9 ± 1.4 kPa. Tumors were graded as well differentiated (N = 2), moderately differentiated (N = 11) and poorly differentiated (N = 8). There was a trend toward increased tumor stiffness in well/moderately differentiated HCCs (6.5 ± 1.2 kPa; N = 13) compared to poorly differentiated HCCs (4.9 ± 1.2 kPa; N = 8) (p < 0.01). There was no significant correlation between tumor stiffness and liver stiffness or tumor size. There was no significant difference in tumor stiffness by presence or etiology of chronic liver disease, vascular invasion or tumor encapsulation.ConclusionPreliminary data suggest that tumor stiffness by MRE may be able to differentiate HCC tumor grade.  相似文献

PurposeHepatic magnetic resonance elastography (MRE) is currently a breath-hold imaging technique. Patients with chronic liver disease can have comorbidities that limit their ability to breath-hold (BH) for the required acquisition time. Our aim was to evaluate whether stiffness measurements obtained from a navigator-triggered MRE acquisition are comparable to standard expiratory breath-hold, inspiratory breath-hold or free-breathing in healthy participants.Materials and methodsTwelve healthy participants were imaged using the four methods on a clinical 1.5 T MR system equipped with a product MRE system. Mean liver stiffness, and measurable area of stiffness (with a confidence threshold >95%) were compared between sequences using the concordance correlation coefficient. Repeatability of each sequence between two acquisitions was also assessed.ResultsThe standard BH expiratory technique had high concordance with the navigated technique (r = 0.716), and low concordance with the BH inspiration (r = 0.165) and free-breathing (r = 0.105) techniques. The navigator-triggered technique showed no statistical difference in measurable area of liver or in repeatability compared with the standard expiratory acquisition (p = 0.997 and p = 0.407 respectively). The free-breathing technique produced less measurable liver area and was less repeatable than the alternative techniques. The increase in acquisition time for navigator techniques was 3 min 6 s compared to standard expiratory breath-hold.ConclusionNavigator-based hepatic MRE measurements are comparable to the reference standard expiratory breath-hold acquisition in healthy participants.  相似文献

The relationship between Electroencephalogram (EEG) variation and subjective annoyance was investigated with 70 dBA white noise and pure tones at 160 Hz, 500 Hz and 4000 Hz being selected as exposed noise sources. The results indicate that when the duration of noise was less than 6 s, Average Power of Electroencephalogram (APEEG) varied irregularly. When the noise lasted for 5 min, the sum of the relative APEEG of θ wave and the relative APEEG of α wave increased with the subjective annoyance increasing under noise exposures. The maximum power of θ wave appeared in the frontal region, while the maximum power of α wave appeared in the occipital region. Up to the fifth minute after noise exposure, more than two APEEG maximums of θ wave appeared, and the time points of maximum occurrence shifted forwards slowly following the increase of exposed noise frequency. The interval between two time points of maximum occurrence was reduced with the increase of the exposed noise frequency.  相似文献

We propose a method for improving the characteristics of all-optical switching based on azo dye-doped polymers. Using alternately two cross-linearly polarized beams (532 nm, continuous light wave (CW)) to pump azo dye–ethyl red (ER) doped polymer methyl methacrylate (PMMA) film, the modulation depth of the all-optical switching reached 96% at the pump powers of 4.8 mW and 1.6 mW and the modulation frequency of 1000 Hz. For comparison, we used respectively the single linearly polarized beam (4.8 mW) and the alternately linear–circular polarized beams (4.8 mW and 1.6 mW) to pump the film at the modulation frequency of 1000 Hz, the obtained modulation depths of the all-optical switching were 36% and 45.8%, respectively. Furthermore, the experimental measurement and analysis showed that the turn off speed of the all-optical switching could be obviously increased by use of our pump method.  相似文献

The Hemiptera order is currently divided into four suborders. Among them the Auchenorrhyncha suborder is considered to be paraphyletic. Morphology of insect spermatozoa has provided promising characteristics that can be used for phylogenetic inference. In this study, Aethalion reticulatum (Aethalionidae) spermatozoa were examined by light and electron microscopy. The head of the spermatozoa is composed of an acrosome and a nucleus. The nucleus is linear and filled with compact chromatin but has electron-lucid spaces. The centriole adjunct initiates parallel to the nucleus and terminates in the region anterior to the mitochondrial derivatives. Flagella consist of an axoneme, two mitochondrial derivatives and two accessory bodies and the axoneme has the typical 9 + 9 + 2 microtubule pattern. The mitochondrial derivatives are symmetric. The accessory bodies are long and are shaped like a half moon when viewed from a cross-section. The presence of accessory bodies differs from other species of Cicadomorpha previously studied. Spermatozoa morphology of other Auchenorrhyncha families can reveal synapomorphies and contribute to systematics of the suborder.  相似文献

This paper proposes an all-optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) multiplexer based on sawtooth wave driving LiNbO3 phase modulators by using serrodyne optical frequency translation. This multiplexer has high integration ability. The designing concept and implementation method have been discussed. A 16 × 10 Gb/s optical OFDM system is designed based on this multiplexer. Transmission characteristics, including tolerances of polarization mode dispersion (PMD) and nonlinear impairments have been studied numerically. Simulations show that the PMD tolerance is about 42 ps. The spectral efficiency reaches 1 bit/s/Hz with binary modulation format.  相似文献

A compact flow-through plate silencer is constructed for low frequency noise control using new reinforced composite plates. The concept comes from the previous theoretical study [L. Huang, Journal of the Acoustical Society of America 119 (2006) 2628–2638] which concerns a clamped supported plate enclosed by rigid cavities. When the grazing incident sound wave comes and induces the plate into the vibration, it will radiate sound and reflect sound. Such sound reflection causes a desirable noise reduction from low to medium frequency with wide broadband. The structural property of the very light plate with high bending stiffness is very crucial element in such plate silencer. In this study, an approach to fabricate new reinforced composite panel with light weight and high flexibility to increase the bending stiffness is developed in order to realize the function of this plate silencer practically. The plate silencer can be constructed in more compact size compared with the previous two-plate silencer with two rectangular cavities and the performance with the stopband of the range from 229 to 618 Hz, in which the transmission loss is higher than 10 dB over the whole frequency band without flow or with flow at the speed of 15 m/s, can be achieved. The experimental data also proves that the non-uniform clamped plates with thinner ends perform very well. To implement the use of such silencer practically in controlling noise at different dominant frequency ranges, a design chart has been established for searching the optimal bending stiffness and corresponding stopband at different geometries.  相似文献

Re-Active Passive devices have been developed to control low-frequency (<1000 Hz) noise transmission through a panel. These devices use a combination of active, re-active, and passive technologies packaged into a single unit to control a broad frequency range utilizing the strength of each technology over its best suited frequency range. The Re-Active Passive device uses passive constrained layer damping to cover relatively high-frequency range (>150 Hz), reactive distributed vibration absorber to cover the medium-frequency range (50–200  Hz), and active control for controlling low frequencies (<150 Hz). The actuator was applied to control noise transmission through a panel mounted in the Transmission Loss Test Facility at Virginia Tech. Experimental results are presented for the bare panel, and combinations of passive treatment, reactive treatment, and active control. Results indicate that three Re-Active Passive devices were able to increase the overall broadband (15–1000 Hz) transmission loss by 9.4 dB. These three devices added a total of 285 g to the panel mass of 6.0 kg, or approximately 5%, not including control electronics.  相似文献

This paper presents an experimental arrangement for detection of artificial subsurface defects in a stainless steel sample by means of thermal wave imaging with lock-in thermography and consequently, the impact of excitation frequency on defect detectability. The experimental analysis was performed at several excitation frequencies to observe the sample beginning from 0.18 Hz all the way down to 0.01 Hz. The phase contrast between the defective and sound regions illustrates the qualitative and quantitative investigation of defects. The two, three, four and five-step phase shifting methods are investigated to obtain the information on defects. A contrast to noise ratio analysis was applied to each phase shifting method allowing the choice of the most appropriate one. Phase contrast with four-step phase shifting at an optimum frequency of 0.01 Hz provides excellent results. The inquiry with the effect of defect size and depth on phase contrast shows that phase contrast decreases with increase in defect depth and increases with the increase in defect size.  相似文献

Micro power generating devices were fabricated by using a gold electroplated coil and a permanent magnet. The electrical power was generated when the magnet reciprocated on the fabricated electroplated coil. The output power was increased as a function of vibration frequency. A measurement system, which convert a rotational motion of a motor into a linear motion, was designed and fabricated. The purpose of this work is to develop the micro power generating devices which convert the ambient vibration or oscillating energy into useful electrical energy. With changing vibration frequency from 0.5 to 8 Hz, the generated power increased linearly. The generated voltage was 106 mV at 3 Hz and 198 mV at 6 Hz. After using the step up circuit, the measured voltage was 81 mV at 3 Hz and 235 mV at 6 Hz. From above the frequency of about 4.5 Hz, the gain obtained by using the quadrupler circuit becomes larger than the loss without using that circuit.  相似文献

The vertical apparent mass of the human body exhibits nonlinearity, with the principal resonance frequency reducing as the vibration magnitude increases. Measures of the transmission of vibration to the spine and the pelvis have suggested complex modes are responsible for the dominant resonance during vertical excitation, but the modes present with dual-axis excitation have not been investigated. This study was designed to examine how the apparent mass and transmissibility of the human body depend on the magnitude of vertical excitation and the addition of fore-and-aft excitation, and the relation between the apparent mass and the transmissibility of the body. The movement of the body (over the first, fifth and twelfth thoracic vertebrae, the third lumbar vertebra, and the pelvis) in the fore-and-aft and vertical directions (and in pitch at the pelvis) was measured in 12 male subjects sitting with their hands on their laps during random vertical vibration excitation (over the range 0.25–20 Hz) at three vibration magnitudes (0.25, 0.5 and 1.0 m s?2 rms). At the highest magnitude of vertical excitation (1.0 m s?2 rms) the effect of adding fore-aft vibration (at 0.25, 0.5, and 1.0 m s?2 rms) was investigated. The forces in the vertical and fore-and-aft directions on the seat surface were also measured so as to calculate apparent masses. Resonances in the apparent mass and transmissibility to the spine and pelvis in the fore-and-aft and vertical directions, and pitch transmissibility to the pelvis, shifted to lower frequencies as the magnitude of vertical excitation increased and as the magnitude of the additional fore-and-aft excitation increased. The nonlinear resonant behaviour of the apparent mass and transmissibility during dual-axis vibration excitation suggests coupling between the principal mode associated with vertical excitation and the cross-axis influence of fore-and-aft excitation. The transmissibility measures are consistent with complex modes contributing to motion of the body at the principal resonance: pitch motions of the upper thoracic and lumbar spine, and vertical and fore-aft motion of the pelvis and spine. The mode varies with the magnitude of vertical and fore-and-aft excitation.  相似文献

Recently the sparse representation based classification (SRC) is successfully used to automatically recognize facial expression, well-known for its ability to solve occlusion and corruption problems. The results of those methods which using different features conjunction with SRC framework show state of the art performance on clean or noised facial expression images. Therefore, the role of feature extraction for SRC framework will greatly affect the success of facial expression recognition (FER). In this paper, we select a new feature which called LBP map. This feature is generated using local binary pattern (LBP) operator. It is not only robust to gray-scale variation, but also extracts sufficient texture information for SRC to deal with FER problem. Then we proposed a new method using the LBP map conjunction with the SRC framework. Firstly, we compared our method with state of the art published work. Then experiments on the Cohn–Kanade database show that the LBP map + SRC can reach the highest accuracy with the lowest time-consuming on clean face images than those methods which use different features such as raw image, Downsample image, Eigenfaces, Laplacianfaces and Gabor conjunction with SRC. We also experiment the LBP map + SRC to recognize face image with partial occluded and corrupted, the result shows that this method is more robust to occlusion and corruption than existing methods based on SRC framework.  相似文献

Photoillumination with 405 nm laser causes shifts in XPS peaks of n-Si(100), and CdS. To distinguish between surface photovoltage (SPV), and charging, dynamical measurements are performed, while sample is subjected to square wave pulses of ± 10.00 V amplitude, and 10?3–105 Hz frequency. For n-Si, Si2p peaks are twinned at + 10.00 and ?10.00, yielding always 20.00 eV difference. Photoillumination shifts the twinned peaks to higher energies, but the difference is always 20.00 eV. However, for CdS, the measured binding difference of Cd3d peaks exhibits strong frequency dependence due to charging, which indicates that both fast SPV and slow charging effects are operative.  相似文献

In this paper, a methodology is proposed for designing porous fibrous material with optimal sound absorption under set frequency bands. The material is assumed to have a rigid frame and a hexagonal arrangement of fibers, and the analytical model derived by Johnson, Champoux and Allard (“JCA model”) is used to investigate the influences of the micro-structural parameters (fiber radius r and gap w) on sound absorption performance, and the macro-acoustic parameters used in JCA model is determined via finite element analysis for the hexagonal micro-structure. Moreover, a mathematical model is constructed to obtain the optimized micro-structure design, with fiber radius and gap as design parameters and average absorption performance of the porous fibrous material under set frequency band as target. Utilizing the constructed optimization model, the microstructure parameters are derived with optimal sound absorption under low frequency (20  f < 500 Hz), medium frequency (500  f < 2000 Hz) and high frequency (2000  f < 15,000 Hz), respectively. On top of that, for a given thickness of porous fibrous material layer, the analytical relationship between fiber radius and optimal porosity under set frequency bands is constructed.  相似文献

Magnetic resonance elastography (MRE) and ultrasound shear wave elastography (SWE) are imaging techniques to measure stiffness of the soft tissue using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and ultrasound images, respectively. The purpose of this study was to explore the feasibility of the MRE measurement to evaluate the change in supraspinatus (SSP) muscle stiffness before and after rotator cuff tear, and to compare the result with those of SWE. Six swine shoulders were used. The skin and subcutaneous fat were removed, and the stiffness value of the SSP muscle was measured by MRE and SWE. The MRE measurement was performed with 0.3 T open MRI and the vibration from a pneumatic driver system with active driver to a passive driver to create the shear wave in the tissue. The passive driver was placed on the center of the SSP muscle. The stiffness was estimated from the wave images using local frequency estimation methods. In the SWE measurement, the probe of the ultrasound was placed on the center of the SSP muscle. The shear wave propagation speed was measured at a depth of 1 cm from the surface, and the stiffness was calculated. After those measurements, the rotator cuff tendon was detached from the greater tuberosity, and MRE and SWE measurements were then performed in the same manner again. The differences in the stiffness values were compared between before and after the rotator cuff tendon tear on both the MRE and SWE measurements. The results indicated that stiffness values on MRE and SWE were 9.3 ± 1.8 and 10.0 ± 1.2 kPa respectively before the rotator cuff tear, and 7.3 ± 1.3 and 8.0 ± 0.8 kPa respectively after the tendon detachment. Stiffness values were significantly lower after the tendon detachment on both the MRE and SWE measurements (p < 0.05). Our results demonstrated that stiffness values of the SSP muscle on MRE and SWE were lower after rotator cuff detachment. From this result, MRE may be a feasible method for quantification of the change in rotator cuff muscle stiffness.  相似文献

Temperature-dependent impedance characteristics of ITO/Alq3/Al organic light-emitting diodes were studied in the frequency range from 40 to 108 Hz, and the temperature was varied from 10 to 300 K. At each temperature, the frequency-dependent complex impedance was measured under discrete bias voltages from −6 to +20 V, and the voltage-dependent impedance was measured at 102 Hz, 103 Hz, 104 Hz, and 105 Hz. A Cole–Cole plot shows that there is one relaxation, and a parallel capacitor–resistor network in series with a contact resistance could be considered as an equivalent electrical circuit to this device. As the temperature decreases, a radius in the Cole–Cole plot increases, which indicates an increase of resistance of the device.  相似文献

Lead Zirconate Titanate (PZT) is a piezo-electric ceramic material that needs to be characterized for its potential use in microelectronics. Energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX) is conducted to determine the chemical composition of the PZT ceramics. The scanning electron microscope (SEM) is performed to study the surface morphology, grain structure and grain boundaries. The SEM image helps us to understand the surface wave propagation and scattering phenomena by the PZT and the reason for its anisotropy and inhomogeneity due to the grain structure. In this paper scanning acoustic microscopy at 100 MHz excitation frequency is conducted for determining mechanical properties of PZT. Earlier works reported only the longitudinal wave speed in PZT while in this paper longitudinal, shear and surface acoustic wave speeds of sintered PZT are measured from its acoustic material signature (AMS) curves, also known as V(z) curves. AMS or V(z) curve is the variation of the output voltage as a function of the distance between the acoustic lens focal point and the reflecting surface. The average velocities of longitudinal, shear and surface acoustic waves in a PZT specimen are determined from its V(z) curve generated at 100 MHz excitation frequency and found to be over 5000 m/s, over 3000 m/s and between 2500 and 3000 m/s, respectively. From these velocities all elastic constants of the specimen are obtained.  相似文献

We report a wide bandwidth (Δλ=8 nm) optical pulsed MOPA (master oscillator power amplifier) source emitting 11.23 mJ pulses (1.25 MW peak power) in the wavelength centered at (λ=1064 nm). Pulse duration and repetition rate were 9 ns and from 10 Hz to 100 Hz, respectively. In order to suppress amplified spontaneous emission (ASE), multi-stage pulse pump technology is applied. And the large core diameter (90 μm) and wide bandwidth ensures the high peak power and energy output.  相似文献

The effect of ultrasound (US) stimulation on the shear viscosity of aqueous polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) solution was studied when the solution was exposed to US at 23, 43, 96, and 141 kHz. The US stimulus showed a marked decrease of the shear viscosity of the solution in the order of 43 > 96 > 23 > 141 kHz, respectively, under US power dissipation of 8.5, 8.9, 8.9, and 8.8 W. Subsequently, when US exposure was stopped, the shear viscosity of PVA reverted to its original value. The US stimulation was analyzed with the US power transmitted through the PVA aqueous media. Furthermore, FT-IR spectra measured at different durations of US exposure, suggest that hydrogen bonds in the PVA segments were broken by the US exposure. We conclude that structural changes of the hydrogen bonded crosslinks of PVA were induced to include water molecules for the re-forming of crosslinks of aqueous PVA.  相似文献
